Wriothesley's POV
Someone had used the elevator to go down and they were still there.
Damn it!
How did they find out about the Primordial Sea being here?
Or maybe they didn't know and just discovered the elevator when doing whatever it was that they were doing down here.
I could at least stay calm thinking that they wouldn't be able to break the seal anyway.
That was, until the sound of an explosion cut through the air, shaking the whole place.
Son of a b*tch!
Crazy bastards!
If they want to die so badly they should just jump into their own little pool op Primordial Seawater!
Why bring all of Fontaine down with them?!
Calm down Wriothesley. Neuvillette said that even if an archon were to come and try to break it, it was difficult to say whether or not they would succeed.
Plus, detonating a bomb down there would most likely draw Neuvillette's attention
I still need to get down and take a look at the situation though.
Since the elevator would draw too much attention, I opted for the small hidden flight of stairs in the corner.
Tsk!
I don't use these They are old. One wrong step and they could-
Snap!
Bang!
A metal plate I had just stepped on broke and fell down with a loud bang.
Yeah. That could happen.
And that probably alerted the idiots down there as well.
God damn it!
I'm pissed off, tense, and incredibly worried!
I know I should be calm about this, but damn it's hard!
I'm angry that so many people we able to slip down here under my watch.
I'm worried about the girls and that reckless brat, Claude.
I'm worried about Neuvillette.
About whether or not he will be able to protect them.
About what would happen if he wasn't in time.
Okay!
That's enough ominous thinking!
I will inform Neuvillette in time!
He will be able to protect the kids!
Nothing bad will happen to anyone aside from the bastards who orchestrated this.
Phew!
Alright!
Let's get on with it!
Deeming myself calm enough, I made my way down the stairs a bit more carefully.
I got downstairs fully expecting a group of armed men, guns drawn and ready to shoot but-
"Neuvillette?"
He was standing in the middle of a ring of people sprawled out on the ground, dead or alive, I couldn't tell.
"Wrio? You're down here as well?" He smiled.
He looked at me somewhat surprised, dropping the last guy he had been choking, as he held him in the air with one hand.
God, that's hot!
...
Wriothesely you idiot!
This isn't the time for that!
"Neuv! Neuvillette! You need to go back! You need to go, right now! The girls are in danger! They rigged their meeting room with Primordial Seawater! I'll take care of this place so just go!"
His eyes widened, filling with worry and unrestrained fury.
"If you need me just shout." He said before disappearing.
Okay, I've informed Neuvillette and he went back to the girls.
The first half is done.
Now...
I couldn't help but kick the person closest to me.
Tsk!
You damn bastards!
Surprisingly enough, there was no reaction. Not even a flinch.
They are either out cold or...
Suspicious rose within me as I crouched down, feeling his pulse.
Huh?
Wait...
!!!
He's dead.
Shock filled me for a moment.
I had never seen Neuvilette kill before.
Not with the bombing incident.
Not even when Mallory broke into my office.
Even that harbinger was left alive.
All of them were simply knocked out and restrained.
But...
To think I of all people would be thinking so much about this?
Hah!
The irony.
And it isn't as if I lived my life thinking that Neuvillette was this innocent and helpless person.
He's a dragon, for archons' sake.
A dragon whose bottom line had been touched over and over.
Now someone even dared to break in and try to destroy a place I told him he could call his own.
Tsk!
"If Neuvillette hadn't killed you, I sure would have."
After throwing this bunch of useless trash onto the elevator, I went to inspect the damages that the explosion had caused.
Hmm...
Luckily, there isn't much damage. The walls are slightly burned, but that's all.
Looking at how there was evidence of the fires being put out with water, Neuvillette probably arrived pretty soon after the explosion.
Phew.
That's good.
My little dragon is the best in the end.
I can just leave everything to him. In the meantime, I'll finish clearing out the trash.
I won't be of much help even if I start running towards the Opera Epiclese now.
I walked back to the levator grumbling about my lack of ability to teleport.
I never thought about it before, but after getting teleported around Fontaine by Neuvillette, walking suddenly feels incredibly inconvenient.
I was just about to start the elevator when-
Huh?
Isn't one missing?
The one Neuvillette was choking when I found him.
I swear I threw that one on here as well...
A sense of dread suddenly filled me.
No way!
A shiver ran down my spine as I whipped my head around.
But it was already too late.
I had been so preoccupied with the explosion, the girls, and Neuvillette that I completely forgot to pay attention to my own surroundings.
By the time I turned around the only thing I could see was a splash of vibrant colored water flying towards me.
I can't dodge it!
I can't stop it either!
"Neu-"
Splash!

Okay, listen...
This cliffhanger...

*Runs for dear life!
"I have no regrets!" The author shouted, running from the angry mob.
