It was a momentous occasion as Bell celebrated his 16th birthday, but for Alfia, it also brought one of her biggest fears to the surface.
Alfia: *Bell has turned sixteen which means.................He can get married!!*
She thought fearfully
Sitting alone in her room, the door suddenly opened without warning. While in most cases this would anger her, she knew that only two people would open her door without knocking: her cute and adorable nephew Bell and her sister, Meteria.
As the door opened the figure of Meteria slowly peaked inside the room to see if anyone was there. When she saw Alfia sitting in her bed Meteria smiled and entered the room.
As Meteria slowly entered Alfia's room with a small smile, she closed the door behind her and sat on the bed beside her sister.
Alfia: Is something the matter?
She asked quietly
Meteria: Well, after Bell's birthday party ended, I saw you leave without even saying anything to Bell. So, is something wrong?
Alfia: N-Nothings wrong-
Meteria placed a finger on Alfia's lips, preventing her from continuing.
Meteria: Ah~ Ah~ You can't hide anything from your twin sister.
She said teasing Alfia.
Alfia: *Sighs* Well, I tried.
Meteria: *Giggles* So? Do you want to tell me what's bothering you? Or should I say it myself?
Alfia's eyes widened when she heard Meteria's words, she's had an inkling that her sister had already figured it out and Meteria's words proved her right.
Alfia: I see, so you already knew.
Meteria: Of course I did!
She proudly said
But after a while, her smile faded, and she put her hands in her lap. She said-
Meteria: Sixteen, huh. It feels like yesterday when he would run up to my legs asking me to carry him.
Alfia giggled as she recalled those memories, saying-
Alfia: *Smile* I remember the time's he would ask for us to take a bath together.
Meteria: *Giggles* Nowadays he runs away when we remind him of that.
She added
The sisters shared a moment of laughter, reminiscing about the past.
After a while, their laughter quieted down, and Alfia asked-
Alfia: Has anyone sent marriage proposals yet?
Meteria: Yes, but not to us. Those women are sly, they sent their marriage proposals to Silver and the Zeus Familia. They might have figured they have a higher chance if they let the men find out first.
Alfia: Tsk! I had a feeling they would do that.
She said with an angry look
Meteria: Although there's no need to worry. I've asked Europa to force- *Cough* ask Maxim to send all those letters our way."
Alfia: A wise move, sister.
She said in agreement
Meteria: Yes, I didn't think Silver would've given those letters up. Knowing him, he and Zeus-sama would entertain a harem."
Alfia: They most definitely would. Seriously those men.
She said annoyingly.
Alfia: So when do we get to see those letters?
She asked both curious and impatient
Meteria: Tomorrow.
A dark smile formed on Alfia's face as she said-
Alfia: *Smile* Good
The next day arrived swiftly, and Meteria and Alfia found themselves seated in one of the manor's rooms. Europa entered the room, carrying a large clothed leather bag in one hand.
Europa: It's here.
Alfia: Are those the letters?
She asked
Europa: Mhm.
Meteria: Ah! Thank you, Europa!
She said expressing her gratitude
Europa: *Smile* Sure. By the way, I saw Bell on his way here. He should be arriving any moment now."
Just as Europa finished speaking, a knock echoed through the door.
Europa: *Chuckles* Right on time.
Bell entered the room, greeted by warm smiles from his mother and aunt.
Meteria: Ah, Bell! Right on time. Come, sit down!
She patted the space on the couch next to her, signaling Bell to take a seat beside her.
Bell sat on Meteria's left while Alfia was on Meteria's right.
As Bell settled in, Europa prepared to exit the room. However, before she left, she glanced at the three white-haired individuals in the room and offered a warm smile before leaving the room.
Alfia: *Smile* Bell, I hope you've slept well.
She said with a smile
Bell: Of course!
He said enthusiastically
Bell: So, I thought we were supposed to have a private breakfast. Where's the food?
He asked curiously
Meteria smiled and answered his question, placing the leather bag Europa had brought on the table in front of the couch where they were seated.
Meteria: This!
She said with a big smile
Alfia opened the bag to reveal its contents.
Alfia : All of these are marriage proposals for you, Bell.
Bell's "E-Eh... EHH?!"
He said with his eyes widened in shock.
Alfia: Your mother and I have prepared for this occasion. Every letter you see here contains a marriage proposal. We're going to go through them, one by one.
She said with a tinge of frustration in her voice.
Bell was overwhelmed by the multitude of letters and the implications they carried. His face turned a deep shade of red.
Bell B-But!
Meteria: Oooohh! Mama will read one first!
She seized the opportunity and began opening one of the letters with a big grin on her face, causing Bell to blush even more.
Bell: M-Mother!
He said with a small red blush on his checks
He tried to reach for the letter, but Meteria kept it just out of his grasp.
Meteria: Nooooo! Let mama read!
She playfully said with a pout
With that, she began to read the contents of the first letter, her face lighting up with surprise.
Meteria: Let's see! Oh?!
Alfia: What's in it, sister?
She asked in anticipation
Bell sat there, blushing and feeling a bit flustered as he wondered how this unusual morning would unfold.
Meteria continued to read the letter with a teasing grin.
Meteria: It's from Ardee!
She said excitedly
Bell: A-Ardee?!
He said as his blush reddened even further.
Alfia: That's the Ganesha captain's sister, right?
Meteria: My~ she said
"If we get married, we can read all the heroic tales we want! And I can shower you with love with no competition."
Bell: Awawawawa
He said flustered and overwhelmed, as his face turned an even deeper shade of red.
With a quick and agile movement befitting her level seven skills, Alfia took the letter from Meteria's hands.
Alfia: Hmmmmm...
She muttered
Alfia: Denied!!
She said after reading the letter
Meteria: Ow~ But sister, why?
She said with a playful pout
Alfia: She's not wife material at all!
Bell: Canwepleasedothisanothertime!
He said as his face was as red as a tomato. Bell blushed so hard it looked like smoke was coming out of him.
Undeterred, Alfia moved on to another letter.
Alfia: Let's see here...
She opened the letter and said-
Alfia: Lili Arde... Bell's old supporter? Denied!
She said without giving any explanations.
Meteria tried to bring a different proposal to Alfia's attention.
Meteria: What about this one?!
She said with excitement in her voice.
Alfia: Eina Tulle... Bell's advisor?"
Meteria: Yes! Yes! Isn't she great?
She nodded with great glee and excitement
Alfia: Hmp! What's good about this one?
She said unconvinced and unimpressed.
Meteria: She has a great physique! I hear she makes sure Bell's always prepared in the dungeon! And she's a really independent person!
She said as she stood up with excitement as she praised Eina.
Alfia: Tsk! Fine we'll leave that in the consideration pile.
She said grumblingly
Meteria: Works for me!
She said with a big smile in her face
Alfia turned her attention to the remaining letters.
Alfia: Now who do we have here...
She opened another letter and started to read.
Alfia: Ice? Ais? Aiz? Ah! Aiz Wallenstein...
She said her name in a monotonous tone.
Alfia: Tsk! This girl can't write to save herself! And she expects us to consider—
She said as she expressed her displeasure.
However, Meteria interrupted with a plea.
Meteria: Wait, wait, sister! Uhm... Let's put her in consideration, please?
She adopted a cute and adorable expression that Alfia could never resist.
Alfia, clearly torn, asked-
Alfia: W-Why?
Meteria: Uhm... She gives me sweets every time we meet, so I thought we should give her a chance?
She said tilting her head cutely, trying to win Alfia over.
Alfia: *Bribery!!*
She couldn't help think
Despite her resistance, Alfia couldn't refuse Meteria's plea and ultimately relented.
Alfia: *Hmph! That girl's more clever than I thought. I'll have to rethink how I see her.*
She thought in her mind as she considered the Sword Princess as a more cunning woman than she thought.
Alfia: Hmph! Now then, who's next?
With a sense of curiosity, she began to open another letter from the bag.
Alfia: Ryu Lion...
As she read the name in the letter she couldn't help but narrow her eyes.
Meteria: Hya!!! Yes!! She's a yes, right, sister?!!
Meteria immediately snatched the letter from Alfia's hands, her eyes dancing with joy.
Alfia: The elf of Astrea.
Meteria: Let's see, let's see!
She eagerly delved into the contents of the letter, her excitement palpable.
"We shall get married in a lake below the shine of a full moon, be wed and start a family till death do us part."
Meteria: Hyaaa!!! How romantic!!
She leaped up and down, her heart brimming with enthusiasm after finishing Ryu's letter.
Alfia: An elf through and through. But I don't see her as wife material for Bell at all!
Meteria: But she is!
Alfia: That elf is so clumsy, she always drops my order when she was working part-time at the hostess! She can't even look at time in the eye!
She said with irritation as she recalled those memories.
Meteria: You know, sister, with how you look at other people, it's a miracle other people can look at you at all.
Alfia: S-Still! That elf is not wife material, I reject!
She said a bit embarrassed at Meteria's response.
Meteria: Not true! She once baked very good cookies! Very good......sweet.....delicious cookies!
She defended Ryu, her voice filled with loyalty.
Alfia: But still!
Meteria: Besides, I hear she's been training to improve. I heard from Cynthia and Violet that Ryu has been training under the two of them for a while now. That must be up for consideration! Right! Right!
Meteria's face was right in front of Alfia's, her eyes were wide open looking at Alfia's increasingly nervous eyes.
Alfia: Y-Yes...
She said as she gave up trying to argue with her sister.
Meteria: *Giggles* Good! Now, onto the next one!
She eagerly searched through the bag and opened another letter.
Meteria: Oh my!
She was taken aback by the name in the letter, covering her mouth with one hand in shock. Alfia, noticing her reaction, couldn't help but inquire.
Alfia: Who is it now?!
Her tone carried a hint of irritation.
Meteria: A-A goddess!
Alfia: Oh?
Meteria: W-Well, it's only to be expected! I-It is Bell we're talking about here. It's not a wonder goddesses would fall for him too!
Her initial shock transformed into a swell of pride for her son. She placed her hands on her hips as she complimented Bell's magnetic looks.
Alfia: Only fools could resist Bell's cuteness.
She stated as a fact, her emotions bubbling just beneath the surface.
Alfia: So, who's this goddess?
Meteria: Goddess of the hunt, Artemis!
Alfia: HAH?!!
Alfia's anger flared upon hearing the name.
Meteria: Hm...
Alfia: No way! A virgin goddess! Those goddesses have massive egos! If one like her tries to claim Bell, I know she's just going to use him for something.
She seethed with frustration as her anger continued to rise.
Alfia: Meteria, what do you think?!
Her voice was filled with frustration and concern.
Meteria: Virgin goddess or not... I want grandchildren!!
Alfia: A-Ah?
Meteria: Maybe not anytime soon! But I want grandchildren in the future! A goddess can't give that!
She threw a little tantrum, letting her emotions get the best of her.
"Grandchildren"
Alfia: !!!
Meteria: ...
The two women paused and exchanged a glance. A shared realization crossed their minds.
Alfia and Meteria: *G-Grandchildren!!*
Meteria: M-Maybe all of this is too soon after all. *Nervous chuckle*
Alfia: I-I wholeheartedly agree, sister!
Meteria: B-Bell, w-we'll continue this at a later date!
Alfia: Huh?
Meteria: Eh?
As they turned their attention back to Bell, they were met with the sight of him fainted, a massive blush adorning his face. His skin was flushed, resembling a ripe tomato.
Alfia and Meteria were so engrossed in the marriage letters that they completely forgot about Bell who was in the room with them.
Meteria: BELL!! Oh, my baby, are you alright?!! Quick, sister, let's take him to the clinic!!
Alfia: R-Right!! Move over, I'll carry him!!
The two women hurriedly left the room, with the unconscious Bell in Alfia's arms, as they made their way to the Familia's clinic.
Both Alfia and Meteria stopped in their tracks when the thought of grandchildren struck them.
Meteria: *M-Me, a grandmother?!! I-I'm too young. Hya!!*
Alfia: *G-Grandmother?! P-Please, not yet!*
With anxiety and bewilderment filling their hearts, the two women rushed Bell to the clinic, their concerns for his well-being momentarily overshadowed by the startling realization of potential grandchildren.
