Author's note: Since many readers thoroughly enjoyed little Yara, this chapter will still take place in 2016, with the Philippine Youth Symphonic Band, where Ms. Irene was one of the group's supporters over the years

~~
Irene's heart felt heavy as the opening day of the Youth Summer Music Camp '18 approached. As the Project Director for this year's camp, her presence was essential, yet she wrestled with the idea of leaving Yara alone. Yara's ongoing illness and need for constant monitoring made the decision even harder.

Irene: Honey, what if I bring Yara along?
Greggy: Dear, it's your call, but personally, I'd prefer she rests and joins you once she's better.

Irene: It's hard for me to focus when I know she's not well.
Greggy: Don't worry, I'll stay with her today.

Irene: Alright, I'll say my goodbyes now to come back early.

Greggy accompanied Irene to Yara's room. Irene gently caressed Yara's face and whispered,

Irene: Hey, sweetheart. Mommy needs to go help those kids playing music. Remember them?
Yara: Without me, Mama? But why? You said I could come.

Irene: As soon as you're better, my love *Yara started to tear up*.
Greggy: Come here, hija *lifts Yara* Mom will be back, Daddy is here.

Irene's heart ached as she watched Greggy comfort their sobbing daughter, signaling her to continue.

Yara: *teary-eyed* Mama...*voice trembling* I want my mommy, daddy...*crying loudly*
Greggy: *calming her* Yara bear, Mom will be back soon. You need to rest and get better, then you can go with her.

Yara's sobs slowly subsided, and she drifted off to sleep as Greggy explained to her why Irene had to leave. While Irene felt anxious about leaving her daughter, Greggy's updates helped reassure her.

~fast forward~

For the past nine days, Irene had been shuttling back and forth to Laguna for the PYSB Summer Camp. She was grateful for the generous sponsors who supported their needs throughout the week. Today marked the final concert, and Yara would finally spend the day with her mother.

As they got into the car, Yara's excitement bubbled over, and she bombarded Irene with curious questions.

Yara: Mom, why do you always go to the mountains? Aren't you tired of it?
Irene: Not at all, my love. Seeing young musicians learn and have fun makes mommy happy.

Yara: Can't we call Dad when we're there? You said there's no signal.
Irene: That's right, the signal isn't good up there, but we can take pictures to show Dad later.

Yara: Can I join in and play, Mom? I want to see you happy.
Irene: Absolutely, sweetheart. Your presence alone brings me joy. No more tears when I'm away.

Yara: You know, mama, I feel really lonely when you're not with me. I cry a lot because you're not here. Do you miss me too?
Irene: Of course, I do! I worry and my heart aches when I hear you cry, my sweet baby.

Yara: But now that you brought me, I'm not sad anymore. I feel so much better.
Irene: Me neither *smiles* You're the cutest, my little one *gives her a gentle kiss*

As they journeyed peacefully and happily to Laguna, immersed in music they both loved. Upon arriving at the National Arts Center, they were warmly welcomed by teachers, students, and parents.

"Good morning, Ms. Irene."
"Oh, what a surprise to see your mini-me today."

Irene: Finally, Yara is joining us on our last day. Say hello, Yara bear...
Yara: *waves* Hi...*grinning, waving*

"Yara bear? So adorable, Irene!"
"Hello, Yara."

Irene: Her daddy calls her that, his endearing nickname. *smiles*

"Yara, want to try the drums?"
"Or maybe the piano and trumpets?"

Irene: Sweetie, remember them?
Yara: Yes! They visited our home!

Irene: That's right! This is Techie, JP's mom, and JP.
Yara: Hello! *gives a polite nod*

"Your child is so respectful, Ms. Irene."
Irene: Thank you!

Yara: Mom, can I check out their instruments, please? Please?
Irene: Of course, sweetheart, but no running.

Yara received a warm welcome at the summer camp, and almost all of the young artists were delighted to see her. They eagerly toured her around, allowing her to play their instruments, bringing a joyful smile to Irene's face.

With her natural curiosity, Yara began asking random questions to the young artists, seeking permission to borrow the piano. This request was met with enthusiasm by Yara.

Yara: Hi kuya, how long have you been part of PYSB? What brought you to this wonderful summer camp?
"It's been a remarkable journey, and your mom has played a significant role in that. She's truly exceptional."

"Yes, we've been truly blessed to have Maam Irene's unwavering support right from the start."
"Without her, our journey might have been quite different."

Yara: You know, kuya it warms my heart to see my mom so happy while making a difference *proudly smiling*
"Your family's genuine kindness is a beautiful thing, Yara. I hope more people get the chance to experience it."

Yara: I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for allowing my mom to be a part of your musical journey as well. It means the world to her, and all of us.

The young camp attendees were further amazed by Yara. Even though she is young, her sincerity and kindness were evident as she mingled with everyone. When Yara began to play the piano, everyone was taken aback.

~Yara playing the Turkish March effortlessly~

As Yara continued to play the piano, her performance captivated everyone's attention. Even Irene, who had been speaking with the teachers, paused and followed the sound to where the piano was placed. To her surprise...

"Irene... your little girl!"
Irene: My Yara? *looking over*

As Irene was about to approach her, the camp teachers intervened and allowed her to continue playing. Irene beamed with pride, savoring her daughter's musical talent. She was amazed, especially since it was the first time she had heard her daughter perform that piece in public.

Irene: Is that the Rondo Alla Turca!?
"Yes! By Mozart!"

Irene: The Turkish March!
"Wow, Irene! You have a natural-born musician in the making."

"She embodies music itself."
"Her command over complex rhythms and chord progressions is captivating."

"And her emotional expression while playing is truly impressive."
"It's as if the piano is an extension of her heart and soul."

Irene was left speechless but utterly amazed. As she watched in awe as Yara's fingers danced across the piano keys, weaving a mesmerizing melody that enchanted the room. Each note resonated deeply, drawing everyone into a world of musical wonder.

With astonishment , Irene stood her gaze fixed on Yara. Her little girl effortlessly breathed life into the intricate piece, her passion and talent shining brilliantly.

The teachers and fellow camp attendees were equally spellbound. As the final note faded, applause surged, filling the room with a heartfelt ovation. Amidst the applause, Irene made her way to Yara.

Irene: *whispering*  You're beyond amazing, my love. *voice quivered with emotion* You've left us all in awe. darling.
Yara: I did it for you, mommy. I wanted to make you proud. *looked up with a radiant smile.*

Irene's heart melted at her daughter's words, and she cradled Yara's face in her hands.

Irene: You've done more than that, my love. You've shared the magic of music and your boundless beauty with us all. I hope that as you grow older, you'll continue to play for me.
Yara: Mom, I can't make any pinky promises, but if it happens, we'll tackle that bridge when we see it *giggling*.

After that, everyone couldn't stop talking about how surprised they were by Yara. Everyone was prepared for the student's final concert, and they all took their seats.

As the event began, Irene was called to deliver a message to everyone present, especially to those who were part of PYSB, celebrating the successful youth camp.

"Good morning uhm, I hope you all had fun. I hope it! Diba? We always pray that when they're having that much fun, they also learn something. Like again this year, they did again. I want to thank you, the parents, for entrusting us with their education and with this ten days, up here. Students in the mountains, without signal, they're able to focus"

"But in truth, the people we have to thank the most are the teachers of this camp, our teachers are some of the most devoted diligent, and disciplined musicians so I hope you take this as an example to be the best musician you could possibly be. Thank you all for being here and let's enjoy the concert"

Irene received a round of applause following her opening remarks, marking the start of the culmination concert for the children. Yara was thrilled as she listened to the diverse melodies produced by the various instruments, which brought a smile to Irene's face as well.

While the young musicians played, Alice arrived with her youngest child, Jameson. They took seats together in the front row and engaged in a light conversation.

Irene: Yara, *gives her a light tap* Auntie Alice and Kuya Jameson are here.
Alice: My dear Yara *exchange of cheek kisses, beaming warmly*

Yara: Ninang! *exclaimed* Kuya Jameson! *does a little happy dance*
Irene: Make room for one more chair, sweetheart, so they can take their seats.

Just before the children's final performance, Irene was asked to stand once again, expressing her heartfelt gratitude for the continuous support of PYSP over the course of the eighteenth year and counting once more before the ending.

"As you keep all the time, just pray and I'm glad to hear that you all enjoyed yourselves these last ten days. 1 thank you, the parents, and everyone else who has brought them here for entrusting us yet again with your children's talent, with your children's safety, and their good health. And to all of you, I know who put a commitment in this another musician in the family and I'm grateful that you're able to invest in them, to invest in their futures as artists, and invest in their lives as creative human beings."

"We have here this aft...ah, this morning, Alice Eduardo, a dear friend, and a new dear friend of PYSB.
Please welcome, Alice Eduardo. Thank you so much for being here and hope you can be and have fun
This is your last tugtog, go for it"

After the concerto, each participant of the summer camp was given a certificate. While Irene stood in front, Yara sat and watched her mother, engaging in a conversation with Alice.

Alice: Glad that you're fine now, Yar.
Yara: Yes, ninang! You know, I was really sad before because I couldn't come here.

Alice: But look at us now, we were able to witness how talented all the musicians are, and kudos to your mommy for the success as well.
Yara: That's what I'm thankful for too. Thank you, ninang, for supporting my mommy. *gave Alice a warm hug*

Alice: How sweet of you, Yar. Of course, we all want to help as much as we can, and it really warms our hearts, doesn't it?
Yara: Exactly, ninang. I'm so happy today. *beams*

As the participants gathered for a small celebration, Yara and Jameson were among the first to head outside, excited to share their thoughts on the event. Meanwhile, Irene seized the opportunity to show Alice a video she had captured earlier of Yara's piano performance – a surprise that left Alice truly amazed.

Alice: Irene, I'm genuinely impressed by Yara's talent. She's truly gifted.
Irene: Thank you, Alice. I'm so proud of her. She brings so much joy to my life.

Alice: You know, Yara's lucky to have you as her mom. Your unwavering support shines through in her confidence and enthusiasm. You have the most kind, genuine sweet girl, Irene
Irene: That means a lot coming from you, Alice. We mothers always want what's best for our children, don't we?

Alice: Absolutely, Irene. And watching Yara today, it's clear that your love and encouragement have played a big role in shaping her into the remarkable child she is.
Irene: Thank you, Alice. Moments like these remind me of the beautiful journey we share as parents.

Their conversation was interrupted by the cheerful voices of Yara and Jameson returning, eager to rejoin the gathering.

Yara: Mom, can we go say goodbye to everyone before we leave?
Irene: Of course, sweetie. Let's go together.

As Irene and Yara walked towards the group,  Alice couldn't help but feel a deep sense of admiration for the mother-daughter bond that radiated so warmly. It was a testament to the love and dedication that Irene poured into nurturing her wonderful daughter.

As the final day of the camp approached its conclusion, everyone went home so is the Araneta's, while they are on their way home, Irene still reminiscing earlier that  Yara's performance remained the highlight of the event.

Yara: Mama, I might not master every instrument like the musicians there, but I promise to always play the tune of kindness and humility, filling our family's life with love and joy. *embraced Irene with a heartfelt squeeze*

Irene smiled tenderly, cupping Yara's face in her hands, she leaned in and whispered to Yara,

Irene: Oh my dear sunshine, your heart of kindness and humility is more beautiful than anything. Your genuine love and compassion, my darling, shine brighter than the most skilled musicians out there. Remember, it's the goodness within you that truly makes you perfect in every way. *hugs Yara tightly*

Yara's face lit up with a beaming smile, and she sweetly kissed her mommy's cheek. As they gazed at the sun bidding farewell to the day, casting a warm gentle sigh of contentment, Irene lovingly held Yara's hand, their fingers intertwining like the sweetest notes of a heartwarming melody.

Irene's POV
Remember, my dearest unica hija, no matter where your dreams take you, I'll always be here, cheering you on with all my heart. Just like today, watching you is a beautiful reminder that I'll forever stand by your side, embracing the music that resonates within you.

Yara nestled closer to her mom, finding solace in her embrace. Irene's heart swelled with warmth and tenderness, cherishing this precious connection with her daughter. She pressed a soft kiss on Yara's forehead, her love radiating through.

"In the grand symphony of life, my Yara, you'll forever remain the sweetest refrain in Mommy's heart. Your laughter and love compose a melody that dances through our days, creating a harmonious rhythm that weaves us together, my little Irene." - Irene

As they held each other, the fading sunlight embraced them in a warm embrace, a silent witness to the unbreakable bond between a mother and her daughter. In that quiet moment, surrounded by nature's embrace, Irene and Yara shared a love that needed no words – a melody of love, forever entwined.

-end-
