It's been a peaceful weekend, until Monday came. I wake up snuggled into Magnus, knowing Alec left for the Institute.
"Morning, my love." I said kissing him
"Morning, my star." He said between kisses
We got up and had breakfast.
"Do you think Alec will forget about the dinner?" I asked him
"I think so, darling. You know how he gets with his work." Magnus told me
I nodded as we finished eating breakfast. It was a relaxing day with Magnus and I working out, combining our magic, until we had to go to the Downworld meeting. Afterwards we came back to watch movies.
"Shall we take dinner to him?" Magnus asked
"Yes. That is a great idea." I said as we went to the Institute.
We walked the halls, heading straight for Alec's office. Magnus knocked gently as we saw Alec reading something very closely. We watched as he looked up at us.
"Lost track of time?" Magnus asked him
"I missed dinner, didn't I?" Alec asked sighing
"My brother the workaholic." Isabelle said. I heard Jace, Clary, and Simon laugh.
"Only by a few hours." I told him
I watched as he got up, coming towards us.
"I'm... I'm so sorry. Really." He told us kissing us. "I just... it's been so crazy here." He tried explaining
"I understand." Magnus said
"We understand." I added
"I can't believe I forgot." Alec said
"It's okay, Alexander. If we can't go to the Cape, we'll bring the Cape to us." I said as Magnus and I used our magic to make dinner appear.
"Lobster tails and champagne to toast to a successful Downworld meeting." Magnus said passing the glasses to us as we clink them.
"It went well?" Alec asked us
"Relatively. But the Downworlders barely trust the Clave to begin with." Magnus said as Alec pulled a seat out for me before sitting down
"And the Seelie Queen wouldn't shut up about the Clave being nothing but a bunch of liars." I added after.
"I don't disagree with that." I clarified.
"That's harsh. But Luke, Stella, and I assured them that now that you are the Head of this Institute, and implementing a policy of complete transparency, change was on the way." Magnus told him as I passed him some food.
"That's good to hear." He said taking the food
"It is, isn't it?" Magnus asked or more like claimed
"Drawn butter?" I asked him for his food
"Sure." Alec said taking some
Silently, we enjoyed our dinner, talking about our day. After dinner was over, Magnus and I went home, leaving Alec to finish his work. As I was relaxing, Luke came through the door, telling us about his sister.
"So, you're telling us your sisters still alive? I... We don't understand what this has to do with the Downworld." I told him
"Cleophas sent me this fire message. It appears Valentine's is holding her captive. Magnus, Stella, she said he still has the Soul Sword." He told us
"He can't have it. The clave did." Jace said.
"That's impossible." Magnus and I said
"Look, I thought the same thing but the Clave lied." Luke told us
"We have to tell Alexander." I told Magnus as we start walking away before Luke stopped us
"Wait. Alec is head of the Institute. He might already know." Luke told us
"No. We just saw him. He would've told us if he knew." Magnus told him
"He would never keep something this important from us." I told him as Magnus and I went to talk with Alec.
"Please let me right." I thought
'please let me be right. He wouldn't, right?' I thought
I grabbed Magnus hand in instinct. We made it to Alec's office as Magnus knocked once again. I watched as Alec looked up at us and smiled.
"Please don't say y'all been waiting for me all this time?" He asked us
"No. We just wanted to see you." I said as we walked inside the room
"Is everything okay?" He asked us
"We thought so. But... now we're not so sure." Magnus told him
Alec put his tablet down and looked at us fully.
"What's going on?" He asked
"You tell us, Alexander. From the day I met you, the one thing I knew I could count on from you was honesty. Absolute, total... honesty." Magnus told him
Finally, Alec stood up and stood in front of us.
"I can explain." Alec told us
"You knew about the sword?" I asked
'No, no, no! How could he?' I kept thinking
"I just found out. I swear." He told us
"When/When did you know?" Magnus and I asked
"Tonight? When we talked about trust. Did you know then?" I asked
I grabbed Magnus hand in mine.
"I did." He told us
I just squeezed Magnus hand
"Okay." Magnus said as I knew I would cry if I spoke
"Look, I was worried that if the Downworld found out, there'd be widespread panic. It could have led to a rebellion." Alec said
I was mad now.
"And, what, you didn't trust us to stay quiet?" I asked
"I didn't say that. I didn't want to ask y'all to keep a secret from your own people. That wouldn't be fair to y'all." He told us
'He just like them.' I thought
"You're just like the Clave... Making promises you never intend to keep. Oh! Transparency?" Magnus told him
"Magnus, Stella, let's not make this personal." He told us
"Oh, big brother. This is not going in your favor." Isabelle said
"No, it is not. Alexander, one thing to know about us, is we expect full honesty." I told him
"I understand." He told me
"How can we not make this personal? Valentine wants Magnus and I dead. He wants all of us dead." I told him
"I know." Alec said
"And after I bared my heart and soul. After Stella shared her deepest secret. We told you things, we've never told anyone. You looked us straight in the eye and lied." Magnus told him
"Magnus, Stella, I didn't..." Alec started
"I guess it runs in the family." I said angrily as Magnus and I walked away
"Hey! That's not fair. Magnus, Stella!" He called for us, but we didn't listen.
I opened a portal and we went home. I watched alongside Luke as Magnus went in panic mode
"Magnus, calm down." Luke said
"Was he ever going to tell us?!" Magnus asked
"I don't know. Look, he didn't tell--" Luke tried saying
"I trusted him, Lucian. Stella, trusted him. We trusted him more than anyone. And this is what happens?" He asked before conjuring magic, causing destruction within the loft. I just stood there, knowing not to show anger. I did what I did best, control my emotions.
"Ah, yes. My magic does become rampant when I am angered." Magnus said.
"Hey. I know your hurting. I get it. And I'm sorry. But you gotta settle down. Stella is calm." Luke told Magnus
"No. Now is not the time for settling down." Magnus said pacing the room before Luke grabbed him
"Yes, it is. Alec is trying. Trust me, he's on our side. He would never do anything to hurt Stella or you." Luke said
That only made me scoff
"It's too late for that now. The Seelie Queen was right." I said
"We can't trust the Clave. they've deceived us again. Only now Valentine is free and the sword's missing and the survival of the entire Downworld's at stake." Magnus explained
"We need to tell her." I told them
"I don't trust her. I never have." Luke told us
"She's the most powerful person I know other than Stella in the Downworld. If we want to stop Valentine... we're going to need the Queen's help." Magnus told Luke
"I'll arrange a trip to the Court." I told them before walking off.
"We actually, decide to listen to her. I don't think I could ever follow her." I said
"Neither do I, but this does prove it." Magnus said
"I'm surprised, we even planned on meeting her." Luke said
