KING POV
I drove as fast as i could, past every speed limit from any country. I was basically running, that i even forgot to wear the attire they make me wear. The moment i bust the door open, i find Lucian seated drinking some water.
I rush to his side and begin touching his face gently, i can't believe he is awake. He still looks pale but much better than before.
"Are you ok?". He asks grogily.
"Am i ok?". I ask incredulously. "You got shot and you wouldn't wake up for weeks. And am i ok?".
"Am glad". He sighs. "Wait!, weeks". He turns to Zake as if to confirm.
Zake nods. "I'll leave you two, am going to bring food".
"Thank you". I hug him tightly." Thank you for staying alive, really thank you".
I didn't even know i was crying until i felt him patting my back, while mumbling. "It's ok, am here". Repeatedly.
I pull away from him, wipe my eyes and give him a stern look. "Don't ever pull on that shit again".
"Aren't you supposed to be thanking me for saving you, i could have sworn most people find that romantic". He says with a smile.
"Well am not most people, it's neither hot nor romantic. Infact it's a turn off, the only romantic thing to me is you beside me, healthy and naked". I say with a blank face.
He blushes.
Zake clears his throat. "I have to warn you, he is still not allowed to do any heavy exercise for a couple of weeks". He says as he places the food on the table.
This induces an even redder blush on Lucian, while i smile. "Oh, the more i stay with you the more i can tolerate you". I say to Zake but my attention still fixed on Lucian.
Zake just straight ignore that comment and pass me the food, he probably got from the cafteria. "Feed him".
"How is sun doing?". Lucian asks as i feed him.
"Growing big, trying to beat me in the games of cards". I add with a smirk. "But failing miserably..".
Lucian laughs at that. "Does he?...".
"No, thinks you are on a big mission". I answer camly. "Didn't want him to panick, but knowing him he probably have it figured out. Too bright for his own good".
"Thank you". He says softly.
The next hours are spent with us updating him on what he missed when he was busy sleeping. He soon drifts back to sleep but wakes up when Can,Victoria, Baba,Rema, fransisca and Jet shows up later at the hospital.
Can had brought few of my clothes. "I know you'd want to stay here until he is well".
"Thank you".
He turns to Lucian." Am glad you are fine. I'm sorry for leaving you behind".
Lucian scoffs. "Please, I'd be pissed if you didn't. Am a field agent, i knew what i was doing and i wanted you gone. That is the only way my sacrifice will be made worth it".
"Or you can just never sacrifice yourself, again". I growl.
"Thats the plan". He chuckles. "I can't risk being a turn off".
This causes a smile from me. And a laughter from Rema, who i doubt is laughing for the same reasons. And turning in his direction, i find him bagging a pissed off, Zake.
I couldn't hear exactly what they are saying but Zake looked very mad. And Rema was well Rema. Baba was staring at them with an evident frown. Just as i was about to call them out, Baba bet me to it.
He didn't even have to speak, he just touched Rema's shoulder and turned him in Lucian direction.
Rema still had a smile on his face but immediately stopped bagging the poor guy. "So, Lucy how was the trip from the dead".
I had to stop myself from groaning, he just choose a new victim to bug. "I think you should all leave, he needs to rest".
"No, am quite enjoying the company". Lucian objects then to Rema. "It was actually not that good. Wouldn't reccomend it".
"Well, am also glad you woke up". Victoria says." That being said i wanted to apologise to you".
"Apologise for what?". Lucian asks and this gets everyone's attention.
"For....".Victoria begins speaking but Can interupts. "We all felt responsible for what happened to you".
"Uh...". lucian looked really baffled, i could tell the detective in him was not buying that but....."you don't have to apologise......for that, really".
"Yeah, too many apologies and serious talks". Rema inputs.
In the mean time, i could see a secret understanding passing through Can and Victoria.
"Again, everyone leave". I say this time with a finality.
The next few days are spent with me pampering Lucian and him being annoyed by it. I wanted to do everything for him, i want to keep him under my wing and protect him. If it was up to me I'd put him somewhere safe, away from all danger with just us.
"Am done". He was dressed in his clothes that Rema dropped from the house.
Today is the day, he is officially being discharged. And he is extremely happy about it. Zake was about to ride with us, something about making sure his friend will be well taken care of.
"Good". I carry the bags containing our things and head to the parking to find Zake waiting. Our ride was first filled with silence which was soon broken.
Lucian sighs happily." Am glad, am out of that hell".
"When will you be working again?". Zake asks.
I growl involuntary in response to his question causing him to give me a side eye. But before i could speak Zake cuts me to it.
"Everyone knows about your condition, so i asked permission from the new chief. you are in an extended leave". He adds.
"Thank-you". Lucian replies sincerely. As he turns to look at the backseat. "But even with the old chief gone, most people will still perceive me as a traitor....".
"Thats not true...". zake was quick to cut him off.
"But it is". He objects quietly then looks at me. "And i don't regret it. That being said, i think it's best if i leave the detective work".
Zake grunts in disapproval." But you like your job". Then looks at me like he is expecting me to back him up, proceeds to frown when i don't. "Seriously?".
"Mhhh, i like my job awful alot. But we all know improtance of trust between comrades, if they don't have that. How am i supposed to trust them to have my back and visesersa?". Zake just keeps his frown. "I plan to start a detective bussiness". Lucian adds
"I'll support you". I say
Not that i like the idea persay but it's much better than him going back to being a detective. So many snakes in that field.
He nods at that then looks at Zake again. "Aren't you going to help me?. Honestly I'd still be needing your help, you can't get rid of me easily". He adds playfully.
Zakes turns his head sideways." I am still coming on terms with you leaving the force but you know i have your back".
This causes a full blown grin on Lucian's face that is almost addicting. "Right, thank you for everything. You are the best".
Zake just snorts in return." I know". He adds quietly.
Their conversation is cut short by our arrival. And before Lucian can fully get out of the car, he is attacked into a hug by a very happy Sun.
They remain holding each other for few minutes." Am glad you are back". Sun whispers.
"Now why wouldn't i be?". Lucian asks as he pats him on the head.
Sun tightens his hug before pulling away and goes to his next victim.
"Uncle Zake". He hugs him
"I think you have grown, more than i last saw you". Zake says with a smile.
"Psssf. I am supposed to grow". Sun answers. "Thank you". He adds
"For what?" Zake seems confused." You grow on your own".
"Alot of things, like coming to see me". Sun says in a duh tone. Then gives me a hug and sprint back inside.
"I thought you said he didn't know?". Lucian asks with a frown.
"Lucian, it's Sun. I'd be concerned if he didn't figure it out". Was my reply
"Too smart". Zake adds.
We step inside to find a lot of people gathered at the dining room, i take the bags upstairs and leave Lucian who was welcomed with a lot of cheers and a feast. I come back to different people gathered around eating, making stories and playing games.
I go straight to Lucian who stands up,let me take his place and sits comfortably on my lap. Rema, Baba and fransisca were sitting opposite to us. Victoria and Jet were sitting on our left and Can was standing on the right.
The noise seem to evaporate all of the sudden, and looking to what had caused the commotion i see Saul. A young boy who is still training, and not actively a member yet.....carrying a box of cookies and walking in our direction.
His friends and alot of women seem to be backing him up but stands a distance, and let him come all the way to us himself. He walks and stands directly infront of Baba and Rema. He is cute kid, who is ussually lively and energetic.
He extends the box to Baba. "I baked this for you". He says shyly. "I mean, asked help from the chefs so......".
"Uh..".Baba takes them hesitantly and with furrowed brows, confusion quite evident on his face. "Thank you?".
"I like you". Saul adds or more like shouts.
"Oh". Thats all Baba says as his mouth forms an oh formation. "Thank you?".
"Ok". The kid smiles as his cheeks glow up in flames then sprints in an opposite direction.
This causes the uproar that had quieten down rise. Everyone starts whistling suggestively as others clap. But the commotion soon settles and everyone keep doing what they were doing.
Well expect Rema who was frowning. "You should have said something to him".
"Like what?". Baba asks clearly still confused.
"That you don't like him". Rema replies and actually sounds pissed." If you are going to reject him don't leave a room for hope".
"I can't do that, not when he kept that effort to make this and infront of all this people". Baba says as he waves around.
"Excuse me!. Why would he even reject him, Saul is a nice guy. Cute and actually very good company. Now why would he reject him?". Fransisca asks as she takes a sip from her glass."it's not like he is taken".
"Because he likes someone else". Rema answers and i don't think i have ever seen him this mad or serious before. "And unless he is not serious about me......".
"What?, No!". Baba replies but i cut him off.
"I don't see why he can't, you said you didn't like him back. Made sure, you left no room for hope. Isn't that right". I say camly as i feed Lucian the chicken
Rema throws a glare in my direction. "Lost my fucking appetite". Then stands up and leaves.
Everyone stays quiet.i can see understanding and recognition in most faces, panick and confusion on Baba's and a raised brow from Can. To which i answered with a shrug.
Baba Excuses himself and also leaves albeit in an opposite direction to the one Rema went.
