CASIDY
I couldn't believe it. In a week, I was due to give birth to mine and Spencer's baby boy. Since the day I told him he was going to be a father, neither of us could wait for our little baby to be in our arms. Soon enough, I'd be able to look at my gorgeous baby boy and smile, knowing that he was happy and healthy. In all honesty, I was so ready for my pregnancy to be done.

Another - rather sad - aspect of my pregnancy close to ending was the fact that Spencer and I had some news to share with the team. Emily was fully aware of how we wanted to continue moving forward with a child. What I was worried about was how the team would react. I knew for a fact that Penelope would be less than pleased, considering she had made it very clear that she was not good when it came to change.

I walked downstairs, watching as Spencer walked out from the kitchen.

"You look gorgeous, my love." Spencer kissed my lips before placing his hand on my large baby bump. I was really happy that soon, my huge bump would be gone. I was excited to finally see my feet again.

"Really? I look and feel huge!" I complained, groaning.

"You will always look beautiful to me, whether you're as skinny as me, or as pregnant as you are now." Spencer chuckled.

"I love the flattery, Dr. Reid." I smirked, placing a kiss on his lips. He almost moaned, but stopped himself when a smile formed on his lips as we kissed.

"You deserve the flattery, Mrs. Reid." He smiled before we both pulled away.

"Time to tell the team...I guess." Spencer exhaled, intertwining his fingers with mine as he locked the front door behind us.

The drive to work as very nerve-racking. I had gone through every possible reaction that the team would exhibit in my head. I was ready for whatever reaction they'd give.

Spencer and I stepped into the BAU bullpen. I glanced over at Emily, who had been talking to Rossi outside her office.

"BAU team in the conference room please." Emily called out, everyone following her instructions.

After a minute or two, Spencer and I were standing up in front of the team, Emily standing next to us.

"Okay. As we can all tell, Cassidy is nearing her due date, so her time here at work will be limited. While she's here, there are a couple of things that she and Spencer would like to discuss." Emily explained before sitting down, allowing me and Spencer to talk.

"First off, Spencer and I would like to reveal the name we have chosen for our baby boy." I spoke up, seeing the smiles appear on our friends faces.

"In a week, we will be introducing to the world...Gideon Morgan Reid." Spencer revealed, everyone's faces dropping.

"His first name will be Gideon, honouring the man who was basically my mentor throughout the early years of my career." Spencer smiled, trying to hold back his tears.

"And his middle name will be Morgan, honouring the man who treated my loving husband like a brother." I smiled.

"Even after all the bickering and playful teasing, he still manages to be the best big brother anyone could ever ask for." Spencer couldn't help but let a tear slip.

"Does this mean what I think it means?" Feel asked.

"Yes, Derek. You're our son's godfather, if you want to be, of course." Spencer asked.

"It would be my pleasure." Derek stood up and in a moment of pure joy, he gently wrapped his arms around both Spencer and I, pulling us in for a hug.

"Now, onto the more...pressing matter, regarding mine and Spencer's future." I could see Penelope's face dropping.

"Spencer, Emily and I came to a mutual agreement earlier in my pregnancy. Spencer and I, we love working here - with you all at the BAU, but we also want to be around for our son." I started, feeling my heart race. I didn't know how I could continue without crying.

"What Cassidy is trying to say...is that we will still be working at the BAU, we just won't...be around, at least, not in the beginning." Spencer held my hand, speaking.

"I don't understand." Penelope shook her head.

"For the first 12-24 months of Gideon's life, we'll still help out with cases, but from the comfort of our own home. We'll kinda be consulting." I spoke up again, clarifying for Penelope, who exhaled.

"Then, once Gideon is past the 2-year mark, our presence here will increase. One week we'd be flying out with you guys for cases, leaving Gideon in the capable hands of his godmother, Penelope. And the next week, we'd be working either from here or from home." I explained further, watching as Penelope gasped.

"I'm- You want me to be your son's godmother?" Penelope started to cry. Both Spencer and I nodded.

"Oh, your son is going to be spoiled rotten!" Penelope giggled, giving me and Spencer a hug.

(One Week Later)

The moment I went into labour at 2:45 AM, Spencer's panic was set into overdrive. He raced around the house, gathering everything he thought we'd need for our hospital visit.

By 3:15 AM, I was laying on a hospital bed, trying to ignore the pain that was occurring due to contractions. I was 4 cm dilated, meaning I had a while before I could give birth.

By 5:38 AM, I was 5 cm dilated, and I had immediately opted for the epidural.

Someone who knew what my job was would assume that because I had survived being kidnapped, tortured and shot, I'd be able to handle whatever pain came with being in labour and close to giving birth, but they were wrong.

By 7:10 AM, I was 9 cm dilated and so close to giving birth. All I wanted was for the pain to be over so I could hold my baby boy in my arms.

By 7:30 AM, I was FINALLY at 10 cm, meaning, I was ready. The nurses prepped for the birth and before I knew it, my hand was tightly intertwined with Spencer's as I pushed harder than I thought possible.

But, all of my pain and frustration was soon over and very worth it, when I felt a sudden sense of relief. I was no longer using all of my energy to bring my baby into the world. Instead, I was taking deep breaths in and out to lower my rapid pulse while my baby was being gently placed on my chest. He wasn't big. He wasn't small. He was perfect.

After 20 minutes, the nurses brought my baby back to me, now wrapped in a blanket. I gently held him in my arms, watching as his eyes would open for a moment before closing.

"Hi, my gorgeous baby boy." I cooed to Gideon, who wrapped his tiny fingers around my index finger. I giggled, looking at my husband, who couldn't help but blush. He took a photo of me and our son, making sure I was modest enough not to feel embarrassed.

"Look at him Spencer. Look at our son. We made him." I started to cry, tears of joy escaping my eyes.

"Hi, little man. Your mom and I love you very much. We can't wait to raise you and watch you grow up." Spencer placed a gentle kiss on Gideon's forehead before placing a kiss on my lips.

"We do indeed love you very much, Gideon." I smiled, whispering to our sleeping son.
