Few hear the song of a siren, even fewer that of a mer. But that night, it seemed the whole world heard the sound of heartbreak resounding off of every wall and cliff. Wafting over the fields and forests. Finding its way into every quarry, every nook and cranny. Even the birds of a feather joined in, singing their own version of this sad and lonesome melody.
Perhaps it was this song that called that weary old fisherman from his hut down to the shore, or perhaps it was—as some call it—fate.
