It had been a pretty successful year. The Tremont was finally reopened and business was booming! The kids had all been a big help and everyone was excited for the new years eve party!
Griffin laid on his bed and smiled as he looked through his snapchat year recap. Harper came into the room.
"Whatcha looking at?" She asked with a smile.
"My snap memories. Come look." He gestured. She sat next to him.

They laughed as they went through the pictures. They then heard Sarah call them downstairs.
"Hey kiddos! Today is a very big day for the Tremont and you all have helped us so much to get this party ready. I want you guys to enjoy it! You have off the rest of the day!" Sarah exclaimed. They all smiled.
A few hours later, 6PM, it was time for the start of the party. The party was formal, so they all dressed up.
Griffin came down the stairs.

Then Ben nudged him to turn around as Harper walked down the stairs. Ben was the only one who knew about Griffin's crush on Harper and he shipped all the way. Griffin turned around and forgot how to breathe for a second as Harper looked absolutely drop dead gorgeous. Griffin wasn't even chewing gum, but he still managed to swallow it.
"You look gorgeous Harper!" Zoey exclaimed as she followed behind in a long floral dress.
"You too Zo!" Harper smiled at the younger girl.
"Very pretty. Both of you girls." Sarah said, looking stunning in her green cocktail dress.
"You all look great." Ben agreed. Griffin couldn't help but stare at Harper. Wyatt came up behind him.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer." He teased. Griffin playfully punched his arm.
Everybody walked away to greet the guests.
"You look pretty Harper." Griffin said shyly.
"Thanks. You clean up nice." Harper chuckled, lightening the mood. He chuckled.
"Shall we?" Griffin said with a laugh. He held his arm out to Harper. Harper giggled.
"And he's a gentleman? Wow, we shall." Harper played along and took his arm as the two walked into the parlor. The party was in full swing and everybody had an amazing time....until 11:00 PM....

Griffin and Harper were laughing about something when some kids their age came over. They all talked for a while and were seemingly having a good time. Griffin noticed that one of the boys kept looking at Harper. He laughed at all Harper's jokes and flirted with her. Griffin hated to say it, but he was jealous.
He didn't know why he felt this way. Harper and him were best friends, platonic soulmates or whatever, but nothing more right?
Griffin sighed when the boy spoke to Harper.
"You're so beautiful. You know, they say you go with the person you love the most at midnight. I know who I hope to be with. What about you?" He asked with a flirtatious smile. Harper smiled back.
"I know who I'll be with at midnight." She stated. Griffin fought back tears and swallowed the lump in his throat before excusing himself from the conversation.

Harper hadn't see Griffin since he left from the conversation. It was now 11:54 and everyone was outside. Harper wandered outside to find her special someone.........

Griffin sighed as he watched everyone gather in the front lawn in pairs. He looked all around for Harper and that boy but couldn't seem to find either. He looked up at the beautiful starry night. 11:57 PM. 3 minutes till midnight. Great. Just then, he felt a tap on the shoulder. He turned around to face Harper.
"Mind if I join you?" Harper asked.
"Sure. What happened to the other boy? Couldn't find him?" Griffin asked.
"Gavin? No way!" Harper exclaimed, mentioning the boy who was flirting with her earlier.
"But, he was flirting with you. He totally liked you." Griffin said, not looking up.
"Who cares? I don't like him back. I knew who I was gonna be with at midnight long before Gavin even showed up. And I'm standing right beside him." Harper said. Griffin looked up.
"Me?" Griffin asked.
"No, Casper the ghost. Of course it's you! It's always been you! I wouldn't wanna be anywhere else than with my best friend of all time." Harper said. Griffin smiled.
"10...9...8...7...6...5..." everyone began yelling. Griffin and Harper smiled before joining in.
"4...3...2...1... HAPPY NEW YEARS!" Everyone exclaimed. Harper admired Griffin as he chuckled at all the chaos on the front lawn.
Harper gently turned Griffin's face to look at her. Griffin shot her a confused glance. She laid her hand on his neck and brought his face closer to hers. She fluttered her eyes shut when their lips touched delicately. Griffin immediately went red and his heart beat faster and faster. Griffin reached his shaky hand up and laid his on top of Harper's, who was stroking his neck with her thumb. They finally broke apart and smiled at each other.
"I like you Griffin. More than a friend." Harper said.
"I picked up on that. I like you too." He said, still flustered.
"I figured. Happy New Years Griff." Harper said happily.
"H-happy N-new Years H-harper." Griffin said stuttering. Harper chuckled and kissed him again. This time, Griffin relaxed a little.
