As far as Scaramouche knew, Rosalyne and Y/N were on good terms. How she could simply forgive and forget so easily was beyond him, but just because Y/N wanted to be her friend again, didn't mean Scaramouche had to let go of the urge to punch her. Again.
All he could see was red. The bright LED lights from the dance flooded the hallways, illuminating it all in a dark purple, but it was all red. Even before he realized what was going on.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" He had asked.
Scaramouche almost laughed when Rosalyne finally realized what she had just done. How pathetic, the sight of her had become in that moment. "I— I didn't mean..." Crocodile tears fell.
"Shut the fuck up. She told you to fucking stop. What the hell is your problem?" Scaramouche had pressed on. In his... rage? Concern? he forgot about Y/N, for the briefest of moments. He waited for Rosalyne to respond. To make a bigger fool of herself. When it was evident she wouldn't, he had said "Stop crying, don't expect any fucking sympathy from me."
"As if you wouldn't do the same, if you were me."
And that was the last straw. Scaramouche punched Rosalyne. The force knocked her to the ground and he could only stare. He didn't feel bad, but the comfort in violence he recognized didn't feel good. "Don't ever compare me to you again."

The words stuck with Scaramouche, more than he would like to admit. Was that what people thought of him? Jealous and spiteful enough to disregard consent and take what he wanted?
He shook his head as he took lunch in the library again. Scaramouche had never seen Rosalyne's crush on you as a competition. But there was a twisted sort of satisfaction knowing it was him who held her hand. It was him she messaged whenever she had something on her mind; regardless of the hour.
He got the girl. And he'd do anything to keep her.

You were especially excited when you got into Scaramouche's car that afternoon. The not knowing where you were going was an adrenaline rush, but your curiosity ran wild and refused to be satiated. "So... where we goin'?"

A waitress came with two coffee cups and a plate of sakura shrimp crackers. You thanked her and looked down at your cup... shaped like a kitty head. "This is the best thing ever." You said to yourself.

After a few minutes of talking and sharing the sakura shrimp crackers, a tortoiseshell cat approached your table. The cat started to rub against Scaramouche's leg. "Ohh, look he likes you."
When hearing the validation, the cat hopped up into Scaramouche's lap and started sniffing around the table. "Hey, buddy." You heard Scaramouche speak softly as he gently started to pet the cat. Both of them seemed to enjoy every moment.
"I can take these out of your way." Your waitress came by to pick up the empty dishes. "Looks like Koneko has taken a liking to you." She smiled.
When the waitress walked away, Scaramouche looked at you, "They named a cat kitten?"
"As if you wouldn't do the same."
"...Fair enough."
Light conversation followed, and not once did Koneko leave. Scaramouche absentmindedly continued to pet her as he spoke to you and finished his own drink. "Shit, I think it's asleep." He said in a low voice after a moment.
"It's a sign, you gotta adopt her now."
"Hm." From the looks of it, Scaramouche actually considered it, "I don't need a cat."
"Everybody needs a cat."
You words were convincing. No more than ten minutes later, Koneko was in your arms as Scaramouche drove to the nearest pet store.
Koneko had started to warm up to you, as well, after you explained Scaramouche couldn't drive and give her attention. Scaramouche had said she didn't understand what you told her, but you thought otherwise. Why else was she rubbing her head against your hand?
"Alright." Scaramouche parked in front of the pet store the GPS had guided you to.

A few days had passed since Scaramouche and you brought Koneko home. According to him, his mother didn't care and essentially ignored the cat. You, on the other hand insisted on photos almost every minute of the day.

You knocked on Scaramouche's door at the same time Tartaglia rang the bell. You looked at each other when nobody answered after a few minutes. "Should we...?" You asked, implying if you should knock again. He started ringing the doorbell incessantly.
And then the door opened and Childe backed away. A tall woman you swore you had seen before, but you couldn't put your finger on it. Her dark purple hair was put into a thick braid and she looked almost like an older female Scaramouche. And in that moment, it finally dawned on you. You had never met his mother.
It took you another moment to realize who she was, beyond Scaramouche's mother. The principal of Seirai Academy.
"Oh— hello, ma'am." You said.
"Hi, hi! We're Scaramouche's friends!" Yoimiya waved and took a step forward.
The woman nodded. "I am his mother, Ei. Come in." Her voice was soft, welcoming. You had heard little things about Scaramouche's mother, but none of them painted a good picture. Nothing described who just stepped out of the way to let you in. Even her natural smile was nothing less than kind. "Kunikuzushi is in his room."
And then she left, like that, into the hallway. After she was out of earshot, Yoimiya nudged you, "...Kunikuzushi?"
Tartaglia exhaled, "She is so... so scary."
"I am very glad I got to avoid that encounter." Ayaka said from behind you, she had just walked in through the still-open door she closed behind her. "Alright. Let's see Koneko!"
You led the way to Scaramouche's room, where the door was slightly ajar. You considered knocking for a moment, but before you could decide, Childe just walked right in and started looking around. "Where's the cat?"
"Who the fuck let you in?" Scaramouche asked in return. He laid on his bed, focused on his phone.
"Your mom." You answered. "No, actually. Your mom did."
"Where's the cat?" Yoimiya repeated.
Scaramouche shrugged and made a noise that sounded similar to I dunno. But at that moment, Koneko emerged from underneath his bed. She approached the four of you, if she recognized you, she didn't show it. Koneko ended up sitting by Ayaka's foot and staring up at her.
