Lyra's POV
I walked all through the night, Asura was with me all the way, even as I regained my bending. Hahn's threat no longer scared me, only enraged me a bit.
The douche literally threatened me! What could go on between Yue and I?! I understood we were connected, but we barely knew each-other!
I closed my eyes and felt the cold morning breeze as the nearby animals woke up. The sun was on my face as I walked back home with Asura leading the way.
We were halfway there when I heard a familiar voice,
"Good morning" came from in front of me, I jumped not paying attention and laughed at my surprise.
"Good morning, Sokka!" I greeted my older brother who appeared grumpy but perked up slightly,
"I was worried" Sokka scolded me as I passed him and stood in front of the door,
"I just went out for a morning walk" I smiled as if nothing happened, Hahn's threat echoed in my mind, 'keep quiet and nothing happens, Lyra..' I reminded myself.
"What's with that face?" Sokka questioned me as I snapped back to reality,
"Oh, just remembering something from a few weeks ago" I shrugged Sokka's concern off.
"You worry too much" Sokka sighed as he slung his arm protectively over my shoulder casually.
I laughed and shook his arm off,
"That's my job, isn't it?" I laughed.
Sokka shrugged as he stretched his hands behind his head,
"Doesn't have to be-" he stated simply when Katara came through the door quickly,
"Morning-" I called after her as she stomped away towards the palace, Aang not far behind her,
"C'mon Katara, it'll be easy, we don't need to get worked up" Aang tried to reason as the two got further away.
Sokka and I shared a knowing expression,
"We should go-"
"-after them" I finished for him as he nodded and we ran to catch up to the two.
"So why is she on her broomstick?" I questioned as we tried to catch up.
Sokka shook his head,
"She's mad 'cause no one'll teach her waterbending, and Mr. Pai-sho rejected Aang and you as his students since Aang was trying to show Katara what he'd learned" Sokka explained,
I nodded remembering hearing about it from the two,
"That makes sense, but why are we going towards the palace and not to the training area with Pakku?" I asked as Sokka shrugged again,
"Beats me" Sokka stated as I slipped,
"WHABAJAH?!" I yelled as I slipped on a stone only faceplant into the icy ground.
Sokka laughed as I stood up,
"Somethings never change" Sokka laughed and wiped a tear from his eye, "but we really should catch up" Sokka stated as he helped me up, I scoffed,
"As if I wasn't trying to catch up to them earlier?" I snorted.
"Why don't we use my method of catching up?" I smirked as Sokka paled,
"Uh-uh! We're not doing that weird walking on the air trick like you did with Jet" Sokka refused.
I gasped in fake offense,
"You think I would do that to you again?" I questioned in mock offense,
"YES!" Sokka stated without hesitation.
I dropped the fake offense with raised eyebrows,
"Seriously- You know what- Whatever, I still need to practice that. We're gonna ride on Asura's back" I clarified.
"Oh- I guess that's fine."
I rolled my eyes and hoisted myself over Asura, and Sokka jumped on behind me.
Asura hooted in displeasure to have two people on her back but shifted her wings as if to say "whatever".
"You think you can beat Katara and Aang?" I challenged Asura who immediately perked up at a challenge.
A small purr/chuff left her throat and I grabbed onto her saddle tightly,
"Grab on" I warned Sokka who looked to me in confusion but complied just in the nick of time,
"What- Ahhhhhhhhh!!" he screamed as we shot into the air,
I gave a delighted whoop of delight as we reached the max height from the launch and Asura opened her wings to catch the air.
"I'm gonna be sick.." Sokka stated sounding sick, I angled my head to him slightly,
"The fuck, you aren't" I stated in challenge.
"Oh! I see them!" Sokka stated upon seeing the two running somewhere, his sickness forgotten momentarily.
Asura caught this too and began to angle down,
"Shit!" Sokka cried as we descended quickly and grabbed onto me tightly.
I relaxed feeling the wind whip past me, we finally landed much to Sokka's relief who immediately clamored off Asura.
"I am never flying with you again if you pull that again" Sokka threatened as I smirked coyly.
I dismounted from Asura and gave her a chin scratch making her push her head into my hands, demanding more,
"My big fluffy baby" I cooed as I scratched below her beak, I could feel her purrs vibrating from her throat as she lifted her chin up.
I pulled my hands back as I smirked,
"I have no idea what your talking about" I blinked innocently.
"Pshh, whatever" Sokka scoffed and crossed his arms in response.
Asura hooted, sounding like she was agreeing.
"Lyra? Sokka? How'd you two get here so fast?" Katara questioned curiously, momentarily distracted from her task.
"We flew" I stated simply,
"Okay" Katara stated as she continued forward, grabbing my hand gently.
"Where are we going?" I asked in curiosity.
"To get your teacher back" she simply stated, raising my concern,
"How are you gonna do that?" I questioned as we walked closer to the meeting hall where the leaders were gathering.
"I'll convince them" Katara stated vaguely.
"I'd like to talk to them too.." I grumbled angerly
"Huh?' Sokka questioned in response,
I whipped my head around with a smile-
"oh, nothin'" I stated as we reached the meeting hall.
"We'd like to talk to the chief" Katara stated at the guardsmen posted at the large ice door,
The two glanced between eachother as the other one shrugged,
"I suppose we could.." stated the one on the left as they allowed us entrance.
The doors opened up before us as we entered and slammed behind us.
Talking in the room quieted as I recognized Yue as she sat down to the left of her father.
"How can we help you, Avatar, and La?" The chief questioned us as we bowed.
I didn't bother correcting him, no one else did either,
"We've come to discuss our training with Master Pakku" Aang stated as he rose from his bow.
"I've already been told in great detail of what happened, Avatar. You were caught teaching your friend to waterbending against our tribes rules, and for it you were dismissed from your training, and by relation your friend" The chief stated crossly.
"Yes, sir" Katara started, "But it is detrimental that they learn waterbending from a master" Katara explained calmly.
She paused as we waited for the chief to respond.
The chief sighed in frustration,
"What do you want me to do? Force Master Pakku to take Aang and Lyra back as his students?" the chief questioned Katara as she stood tall.
"Yes. Please." Katara stated, adding the please quickly.
"I suspect he might change his mind, if you swallow your pride and apologize to him" Chief Arnook stated calmly.
The thought irked her as her teeth clenched and I bit back a retort, staying silent.
Katara's face softened as she stole a look of Aang and I.
"Fine." She stated through clenched teeth.
Master Pakku grew a wicked smirk upon his face as I clenched my fists tight as my sides,
"I'm waiting, little girl" Pakku stated causing me to break from my calmness.
"No-" Katara began but I stepped in front of her, the ice began to crack under my feet as the ocean bubbled in anger,
"She will not be apologizing to you!" I stated angerly,
Sokka pulled me back and covered my mouth,
"Shut up" he hissed in my ear, "We're trying to get your waterbending teacher back!" he hissed a bit louder to me.
I took a breath as he let me go,
I am calm, I am calm, I am calm, I'm fucking calm!
"I'm still waiting for that apology" Pakku smirked, enjoying this show,
Katara tried to swallow her words, but they broke from her tongue,
"No! No way am I apologizing to a sour old man like you!" Katara yelled as the cracks I made grew bigger and the pots of water beside us broke,
"Uh, Katara-" Aang warned her quietly of the damage, but Katara hadn't heard,
"I'll be outside if your man enough to fight me." Katara challenged, stomping outside.
"I'm sure she didn't mean that" Aang tried to apologize.
"Yeah, I think she did" Sokka and I said at the same time.
"We should go calm her down before she does something more drastic" Aang stated as he rushed after her, Sokka just behind him. I sighed and began to walk after them when the Chief stopped me,
"That's not the only reason why your here, is it?" he questioned me as I angled my head sharply,
"It's the only important reason" I stated sharply and exited after the trio.
