He set fire to the world around him,
but never let a flame touch her.

Silent, painful, suffocating darkness. Mmm...shhh. Close your eyes. And imagine muffled agony shooting throughout your body.
Silent, painful, suffocating darkness. Mmm...shhh. Close your eyes. And imagine the air is sucked out of your lungs.
Silent, painful, suffocating darkness. Mmm...shhh. Close your eyes. And imagine there is no time...silent stillness.
So dark, so gone. Where am I? My head hurts...why? Why is it so dark? Anton? Ohh...it hurts. I'm stuck, there's no way out.
So dark, so gone. Where am I? My head hurts...why? Why is it so dark? Anton? Ohh...it hurts. I'm stuck, there's no way out. Anton...help. I'm scared. Please help.
Mom...
Silent, painful, suffocating darkness. Mmm...shhh. Close your eyes. And imagine shooting air strikes against your lungs.
Silent, painful, suffocating light. Mmm...shhh. Open your eyes. And look at a terror-stricken Antonio staring at your gasping form.
Anton's huge form laid down on me, suffocating me. I was on my back, on the cold snowy ground. The mansion...didn't Anton say it would detonate? I was relatively close to the mansion. How am I alive?
I began to recall what had happened.
Antonio's frightened eyes gazed at me before he ran to me. He tackled me to the hard ground and covered me with his immense body. That was why I blacked out, because of the hard impact. Me hitting my back, made me temporarily lose my breath and consciousness.
When Anton saw that I was alive, his fearful eyes washed away with relief as my teared up with alarm. Oh my God, my baby.
When Anton saw my alarm, he quickly got off of me.
"Leah, are you okay?" He questioned with concern as he took a hold of my face, caressing my cheeks with his thumbs. No. Nooo, what have I done? I began shaking my head. No, no, no, no.... I shook my head more violently.
"Olivia, talk to me." He griped my head again, forcing me to face him.
My baby...no, no, no. What have I done?
My hands began to shake as I pulled his hands away. My head kept shaking left and right, left and right. Antonio stared at me with concern written all over his face.
"No, no, no, no, no..." My mouth kept mumbling, my hands began shaking.
"Olivia?" Anton's voice invaded my darkness. In the mist, I felt huge hands trying to take a hold of me, but somehow, they didn't succeed.
"Leah, stop fighting me," a deep, agitated voice growled in my ear.
What? I'm not fighting you.
"No! Stop!" a voice that sounded like mine—but it couldn't have been—shouted. With a grunt, the hands took a painful hold around me and lifted me up. Suddenly I felt the hard snowy ground under my soaked shoes.
My baby...please, please, please... No, please God!
"Olivia, for fuck's sake, stop fighting me!" The same voice echoed in my darkness.
"No, stop! Don't touch me!" a feminine voice cried out hysterically.
My baby...no, no, no. What have I done?
"I can't get her to calm down. Give me the syringe." The Devil spoke before I felt a sting on my arm.
"Shh, calm down, Leah. Let me hold you." The Devil spoke again softly. My vision began to darken. The painful brightness that I saw before began to shift into black dots, all the way until I saw nothing but darkness.
Silent, painful, suffocating darkness welcomed me once again.
____________
Too bright. It's too bright. Please close my eye. My eye hurts. Stop. No, don't hurt my other eye. Too bright. It's too bright. Please close my eye. My eye hurts.
Darkness greeted me once again. Muffled voices reached my ears, saying things that I couldn't decipher.
Suddenly, I felt something cold on my chest. What is that? A...stethoscope? It stayed there for a few seconds before it was gone. The voices became clearer for every second that went by, soon I heard them perfectly fine.
"She's fine. Fortunately, nothing was broken or hurt, just a few bruises on her back. But I'd advise her to take it easy for a few days, her back took a dangerous fall." A calm, monotone voice spoke from my right.
"Just!? Just a few bruises!? Her back is almost entirely covered with green and purple marks. Are you fucking kidding me!" The Devil roared from my left.
"Eh... I—I c—could give her some cream," a stammering, frightened voice blurted out.
"Leave it on my nightstand" The Devil growled as I felt the soft blanket cover my chest again. The man—who probably was a doctor—put the cream on the nightstand. I heard his steps leave; the door closed behind him softly. Silence fell upon the room.
I still didn't dare to open my eyes; I didn't dare to face him. I didn't know what to say or do. The only thing that was on my mind was if I still was pregnant. I hated the state that I was in. It was like I was in a limbo. It was like I was weightless—floating—but at the same time I was so heavy, stuck to the ground.
Antonio paced the room, his footsteps stopped by the balcony French doors. I didn't want him to know that I was awake, he would have questioned me about my strange behaviour when he saved me.
Oh, God...he saved me. Why did he save me? I began to recall his face just before he screamed my name and ran to me. He looked scared; I had never seen him scared—I doubt anyone had ever seen him scared—. He looked like he was in pain...but why? Did the thought of me dead pain him? No, I refused to believe that. It just didn't make sense. Half the time I thought he hated me. What about the other half? The other half of the time....it seemed like he liked my company...a lot sometimes.
What do I make of this?
I was more confused than before. Why did he save me? I didn't mean anything to him. I bet if he knew that I was pregnant with his child, he wouldn't have saved me.
I don't want a family of my own or kids. Those were his words.
Before I could drown in my confusion and misery, I heard Antonio nearing the bed. I didn't know what to do. He had to believe that I was still unconscious. I tried my best to calm down, regulate my heartbeat and be still as possible. I felt his scorching gaze on my face, staring at me.
Don't move a damn muscle! I barked at myself. He moved around, going to the other side of the bed. I mentally sighed a sigh of relief. My momentarily relief got replaced with alarm when the bed dipped under his weight. What is he doing?! My body tensed, even though I tried my best to not to. I managed to relax just before I felt his warm arms hugging me. What? He carefully put my head on his chest and continued to embrace me. He kissed the top of my head then whispered, "If you ever leave me, please haunt me."
