*Sandrelly's Pov*

"Damn girl!" Shouted Abi as she ran over and hugged me.

"Hey, Abi. Hey, guys."

"Yo, Sandrelly is in the house!" Shouted Darren as he ran over.

Darren hasn't changed much. He's still got his beautiful tanned skin and long black hair. However, he has recently got a new tattoo of Hawaiian flowers around the top of his arm.

"I'm loving the new tattoo."

"I'm glad. Got it a month ago. God, I've missed you." He said and gave me a hug.

"How's Clara?" I asked as I looked around for her.

"Had the same accident as you."

"Which one? The drowning one?"

"Nah. Slipped on the rocks down by Crystal Creek and broke her arm."

"I hope she's okay."

"She's fine."

"We need to do our normal catchup." Said Abi.

"How about tomorrow?" Suggested Harvey as he came up to us.

"What's this?" I asked as I put my hand through his golden locks.

"The new hair of the season."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah. Makes Darren look hot in photos, I might as well try it."

"Fair enough."

"What are you doing back?" Asked Darren.

"Sammy told us why you left. I hope you're okay." Said Abi.

"What did he tell you?"

"About what the boys did. The beating."

"He had no right to tell anyone."

"He tried to report Peter, for you. He got a black eye and a broken finger because of it." Explained Harvey.

"What?"

"You should talk to him." Said Abi.

"Yeah. We're now partners for the next few weeks."

"Woah. You've came back to the team?" Asked Darren.

"No, it's not like that. There's a case my unit has been called out for. My new Sargent accepted."

"Does he know?"

"Nope. The only person who knows is my friend, Jay."

"Oh girl, I saw that smile. Tell me about him." Said Abi and pulled me down the beach and away from the boys.

"He's sweet but we're just friends."

"Tell me more."

"He's tall. I first met his brother at the hospital. When Jay found out about the bruises, he knocked on my door with beer and refused to leave."

"Ellie, he sounds like a keeper. What's the brother like?"

I got my phone out and showed her a picture from his Instagram. She scrolled down his paged and zoomed in on his face and body.

"I've never seen gingers as being attractive but you can give me a piece of him."

"Oh my god, Abi!" I laughed as we led down on the sand.

"Oh, I never asked you. Did you win that heat? You know the one that I drowned in?"

"No. As soon as you went under, jet skis came out and tried to pull me in. Obviously, I didn't listen. I went searching for you. I only found the pieces of your board."

"I can't remember anything after Diego dived in."

"Do you want me to tell you?"

"Please, it will fill a gap."

"It started one stormy night." Joked Darren as he sat down.

"Shut up, man." Nudged Harvey.

"I know bits and the boys know other bits."

"Alright. Hit me with it."

"When Diego pulled you out of the water, I was paddling in with my board as well as your broken one. As soon as I got onto land, Darren ran over with the first aid kit and Harvey had the defibrillator."

"Luckily, you didn't need it but Sammy nearly did when he saw you. Harvey carried you up the beach and straight to the ambulance. You were in and out of consciousness." Said Darren.

"I went in the ambulance with you to help the Paramedics and your parents drove behind us. Sammy didn't turn up to the hospital because he was called into work but he told us to update him as soon as we knew anything. He really wanted to be there." Said Harvey.

"I do need to catch up with him."

"Yes, you do. And so do we." Said Abi.

"I know but right now, I have to go. I have a shift at the restaurant."

"I know. We've worked a few shifts."

"Oh god. I can just imagine. Abi you were working while Harvey was chatting to every girl that stepped in the door."

"Hey! I'm not that desperate." Said Harvey and pushed me.

"Oh yeah. What happened to that girl that you approached on the beach last summer?"

"She's now gay."

"I knew it!" I said and high fived Darren.

"Hey, it not fair to make bets."

"Do see any money involved?"

"No."

"Then it wasn't an official bet."

As I was walking off the beach, Darren walked up to me and handed me R$100.

"That's how much I owe you."

"Cheers. I'll see you soon."

"See ya."

When I got to the restaurant, my dad was talking to some customers and collecting orders.

"Hey, Pops."

"You're late."

"By two minutes."

"Still late."

"Sorry Pops. It was my fault." Said Darren as he walked in.

Everyone calls my dad, Pops, it's basically his nickname. But my mom is known as ma'am by my friends and by the surfers. Basically, my family, the Santos Family, is known amongst the surfing lot. My mom has boards in her shop that you can hire out as well as a small shop by the beach for her jewellery as well as one in the main town.

"Darren, what did you do?"

"I owed her money from a bet."

"I knew it. How much?" Asked Harvey.

"A hundred." Laughed Abi and patted Harvey on the back.

"Oh c'mon. No fair."

"Take a seat guys. I'll be over in a bit."

"Nope. You are making the burgers. Start cooking and stop talking."

"Is she at least getting paid?" Asked Abi.

"No." Said Pops.

"I'm pretty sure thats called child labour." Said a familiar voice as they walked in.

"Hey, Voight." I said and started to walk to the kitchen.

"Hey, San."

"How do you two know each other?" Asked Roberto.

"I'm Hank Voight, Sandrelly's Boss. You must be her father."

"Yeah. Roberto. Nice to meet you." He said and they shook hands.

"I've heard there's a bbq tonight."

"Yep. You can try my burgers."

"Yeah. San said something about them."

"Did she now? You know you're making them." Said Pops towards me.

"I know. How many am I having to make right now?"

"I think six."

"Great. I'll see you later, Hank."

When I was finally finished with my shift, I had made eighteen burgers. I honestly thought there would be more. I came out of the kitchen and walked to Abi, who gave me a cola.

"Cheers. Man, it is hot back there. Where are the boys?"

"Talking to your boy."

"Huh?" I asked as she pointed to a table where Jay was sat with Harvey and Darren.

"Hey, I was checking out the town with Kevin and thought I would pop in."

"Where is Kevin?"

"He's in your mom's shop. Buying bracelets for his siblings."

"Aw."

"Hey, you have a bit of flour on your face."

"You can thank me for that." Said Diego as he walked out with his black shirt in his hand because it was covered in flour.

"I understand this is by the beach but put a top on, Diego. You are my son and you have seen the sign a million times." Said Pops.

"Blame your daughter for that one. She threw flour at me."

"You did it first."

"Children. Absolute children."

"Diego, I would put your top on quick before Harvey decides to approach."

"Shut up, Ellie. You know I only have eyes for girls."

"Yeah, gay ones." I laughed and made everyone else laugh.

"Are we talking about Harvey?" Asked my mom as she walked in.

"Ha! She roasted you, Harvey."

"Shut up, Ellie."

"Thanks." Said Jay to Diego as he passed him a towel.

I turned to look at Jay as he grabbed my face and started wiping the flour off. Abi started laughing and ran over to Darren, jumping on his back. They started whispering and giggling about something as Harvey joined them.

Once Jay was done, he put the towel down on the side and then walked up to Helena.

"Hello, Ma'am. I'm Jay Halstead. Sandrelly's friend."

"You've got yourself a gentleman with this one." Said my mom as she went and hugged him.

"She's a hugger." I said.

"Yes I am. Hopefully your other work mates will be expecting hugs. I've already hugged Hank."

"You hugged my boss?"

"He seemed like be needed it."

"Alright, ma. We'll see you tonight, yes?" I said the last bit towards Jay.

"Yeah. Party starts at five. So, two hours."

"Party?" I asked my mom.

"That's how the kids say it now a days."

"No, ma. They don't." Laughed Diego.

"See you tonight." Said Jay and walked down the steps.

"See you then."

This man is going to be the death of me.
