This vacation was one of the best vacation of my life. No work, no worries, no anxiety for planning. Just beach, food, and sex. We should do it more often.
Aaron insisted he'd pick me up the next morning for work and I didn't argue much. As soon as we get out of the car, we are back to work. No holding hands, kissing or smiling all the time.
"Wow, you two look too tan for being out with food poisoning for the last 5 days..." Rossi comments as soon as he meets us in the elevator.
Aaron smiles and shakes his head
"Reunion honeymoon?" Rossi suggests
"Something like that" I answer
"Had fun? Of course you had..." he answers himself
"Stop" Aaron chuckles. He leans to me
"I'll see you later. Have a good day" he says and kisses my cheek
"You too" I reply as they get out of the elevator.
His POV
"You don't have to be shy in front of me, Aaron. I'm sure you had a lovely vacation" Dave says as we walk to the bullpen
"I'm not being shy. I'm just trying to avoid this conversation" I admit
"Why? Did something go wrong?" he asks
"Not at all. Everything was great"
"Seeing you with this smile, I bet it was more than great" he says and I shake my head, smiling.
"Let's stop talking about my personal life, we have a case" I remind him
"Ok. But when you ask me to officiate your wedding one day, I'll remind you how you pushed me away" he jokes and goes to the conference room.
Her POV
When I finished up in the afternoon, I headed to his office to find him.
"I'm ready to go when you are" I announce as I enter.
He looks at his watch and gets up
"Yeah, let's go" he says as he starts gathering his things
"It's ok, you don't have to hurry" I chuckle
"We have an appointment and I didn't realize how fast time passed"
"What appointment?" I ask
"I want to show you something. Come on" he takes my hand and we leave
"Is that why you insisted to bring to work this morning? So I wouldn't have a way out?" I wonder as we get in the elevator
"Possibly" he answers and kisses me.
We get in the car and he drives towards the opposite direction of our places. I try to guess where we might be headed to but with every turn he takes or doesn't take, my mind changes.
At some point, he stops at a red light and puts his hand on my thigh.
"I can almost hear your mind trying to make a guess" he laughs
"We've been driving for 15 minutes now, of course I'm going to try and guess" I admit and he chuckles.
"Don't worry, we're almost there" he says and I turn to the window again.
"Are we going to check another apartment?" I ask and he smiles, still looking at the road
"Oh my God, we are! Why didn't you say anything?"
"Because I wanted it to be a surprise but someone spoiled it"
"I did not! I'm just good at my job"
"That you are" he laughs.
"I got a call from the real estate agent while on vacation and he said that he believes he found a good candidate for our preferences" he explains
The real estate agent was already waiting for us there and took us to the apartment.
Walking in, you come across the dinner the kitchen and kitchen island. Going in further you get to the living toom area and big dinning table. And all of that is washed with sunlight. There is also a balcony with nice view.

There is one bedroom, one bathrooms, a closet room and an office room which we'd really appreciate. We went through everything and left with the plan of the apartment.
"It needs some modifications but I think that this is it" I say as we get back in the car
"I agree" he replies.
"So..." I say as I unfold the plan on, setting it my legs.
"The living room/kitchen is great and sunlit, I love it. Now, I don't like how you have to walk passed the bedroom to get to the bathroom. What if we have a guest?" I point out
"I think we could put a wall opposite to the bed and close off the bedroom from that side, leaving a hallway that leads to the bathroom" he suggests
"Yeah, that would work. And I am willing to share the office room"
"You are very generous" he chuckles and gives my thigh a squeeze.
"There is enough space there for two desks"
"Yes, there is" I agree.
"Anything else?" he asks
"Small things. Like the kitchen island could be a little closer to the kitchen. But we can figure those out when we start furnishing it"
"Furnishing it? Wow..." he laughs
"What?" I ask
"I'm so happy that we're doing this" he answers and kisses my hand while driving
"Me too" I reply and I kiss his cheek.
That moment, my phone goes off. I look for the sound and I realize it's under my seat. 'Zoe'.
"Hey, Zo. What's up?" I ask as I answer
"Where were you? I left you a hundred messages!"
"Sorry, I didn't have my phone on me. Did something new come in?" I wonder
"Check your email. I'm on my way to the bureau" she answers and hungs up.
"Do you want me to drop you off at the bureau?" Aaron asks
"Yes". I open my email and I have an message from the director with an encrypted file attached to it.
I put my codes in and I open it. The first sentence has my legs weak.
'Dominic Welker escaped from federal prison two days ago, after a fight broke out in his section. The fight was resolved rather quickly but Welker is nowhere to be found.
Agent Maria Clark and her husband were found dead in their home a few hours ago and there is evidence that D. Welker was there.
I'd advise every other Agent that worked on this case 9 years ago to be vigilant'
"Are you alright?" Aaron asks
"Yeah, yeah" I reply as I turn my phone off.
I meet up with Zoe in the entrance.
"Does Strauss know?" I ask as I follow her inside
"I don't know. I am on my way to her as well" she answers.
"Lexie--" Aaron calls taking my attention
"Aaron, please, go check on Evelyn and stay with her until I'm back. She's at my place"
"What's going on?" he asks
"I'll explain later, please, stay safe" I kiss him before Zoe and I get in the elevator.
