Ever Since I could remember I've been in foster care.About three years ago lexi leo and I, were sitting in our foster families lounge room when our foster dad at the time came in smelling like booze. He grabbed an empty beer bottle and smashed it on the table. He turned to face me with the angriest look I had ever seen. He raised the sharp shard of glass to my throat. At that Leo stood up and grabbed my arm causing the shard of glass to nipp my skin. I cried out as a searing pain shot from my throat.
At the age of one Lexi had no idea what was happening but Leo at sixteen knew exactly that if he kept cutting into my throat then I could very well die. He let go of my arm and backed over to Lexi trying to guard her incase he got bored with me.
"How dare you put up posters on MY wall!" Boomed Bruce my foster dad. He pushed me to the floor and started kicking me in the gut , arms ,legs and face. I heard a couple of ribs crack and I felt a searing pain run throught my chest everytime I dared to breath. How could one person be so cruel?! Everytime he kicked me a new wave of pain ran through my entire body.
When he finally calmed down and stopped hitting me I coughed and I felt like I was chocking. After a while of coughing I noticed I WAS chocking. On what I had no idea. When I looked at the foor over where I had been coughing to see blood. MY BLOOD! I WAS COUGHING UP MY GUTS! I slowly looked up to see Lexi crying and Bruces arm raised. I looked around and I saw Leo lying on the floor across the room. Even though I was in pain I had to check on Lex. I got on my hands and knees and slowly crawled over to Lex. When I looked up I saw he haddent hit her yet, but he obviously was planning to. I hoped up onto my knees infront of her so he couldn't hurt my 1 year old sister.
After that I was bruised, broken and beaten. That night Leo woke me up at midnight. He grabbed me and Lexi and we ran from that life.

I know this chapter Isn't long but it's just an insight to Claires life before she was on the streets.
