(Eric's POV)
I woke up today like I normally do. With Carley in my arms. We were at her house today. But I love having Carley in my arms. I love her so much. I just stare at her. Well I was admiring her
"I can feel you staring Eric" She said with her eyes closed
"It's not staring, it's admiring" i said and pulled her closer to me
"Hmm" She said
"So tonight's the night" I said playing with her hair
"Yeah.....maybe we should just go out and then do the thing on the weekend" She said and I heard a little fear in her voice
"Hey.....whats wrong?" I asked looking at her
"Nothing" She said not looking at me
"Carley I swear to god tell me what is going on in your mind" I said to her while moving her head over to meet my eyes.
"Eric it's nothing serious. Don't worry" She said holding my hand
"If it wasn't you would be able to look me in the eyes. But you aren't.. So just tell me" I said softly at the end
"Ok fine.....I was scared you would be mad at me for suggesting we wait a little longer for.....that" She said
I sigh and put my hands in my hair in frustration.
"Carley, haven't I proved to you that I don't just want you like that?" I asked
"You have....You totally have Eric it's just I was scared you would be angry" She said putting one of her hands on my cheek
"I'm not a dick who only wants....... that Carley" I said upset cause it seems like she thinks that
"I know you aren't Eric" She said rubbing my cheek
I got out of bed. I'm really annoyed right now.
"I'm gonna go home. Get ready for school" I said putting my shirt back on. Yes I sleep with my shirt off with Carley. So what
"Eric....." She said
"I got to go" I said walking out of her room.
I go downstairs and get my school bag and basketball bag. Then was about to walk out of the house when someone came down
"Eric......what are you doing man? Where are you going?" Arthur asked me
"I'm gonna go home for a little before school" I said
"Are you and Carley ok?" He asked
"Look Arth I'm tired. I'm gonna go home for a couple minutes then go to Dunkin. I'll see you at school" I said to my cousin
"Ok...um text me when you get to the house alright?" He said
"Yeah....See ya man" I said then walked to my car that's in the driveway
I pulled out of the driveway and was on my way to the house. But somehow I get smashed in the car. And suddenly I feel the car flipped then suddenly my vision become of darkness and I was out.
(No One's POV)
Eric was lying in the car not moving. When someone who was driving to work saw his car.
"Oh my god" The girl said and got her phone. She dialed 911. "Hi. Yes there's been an accident. Maybe a hit and run" She said
"Ok ma'am I'm gonna need to know where you are?" The receptionist for the police said
"Ok I'm in a neighborhood like 5 minutes from Starbucks" The girl said
"Ok ambulance is on their way. Are you the injured party?" The person on the phone asked
"No it looks like a teenager got injured. He's not moving" She said
"The ambulance is 5 minutes away" The person said
5 minutes later the ambulance get Eric out of the car safety but it was already too late Eric's eyes were closed.
In the ambulance the people were calling the hospital telling them that a "18 year old man is coming in. He's not waking up. Possibly in a coma" One of the people said
"We'll be ready" The hospital said
They get to the hospital in record time. They got Eric into surgery
(Carley's POV)
(After Accident happened but before Ambulance came to get Eric)
After Eric leaves my room I try to find clothes really quick because I don't want our first valentine's day to be bad.
After getting clothes on I run downstairs and see Arthur there
"Hey.....where's Eric?" I asked him
"He left like 5 minutes ago" He said
Then we heard ambulance coming.
"Huh I wonder who got hurt" He said
"That's the way Eric goes back home.....You don't think?" I asked him scared
"No.....He is on his way home. He's gonna text me any minute" He said
"And.....what if he doesn't?" I asked him
"He will Carley" He said
"Ok" I said
10 minutes later and see no texts to either of us.
But there was a phone ringing. And it was Arthurs
"Hello? Mom? What? What happened?" He asked on his phone with his mom. He looks at me with tears. "Yeah.....Yeah I'll bring Carley. Alright see you there. Bye mom" He said then hung up
"What's going on Arthur? Was that about Eric?" I asked concerned about my boyfriend
"Um Carley....remember that ambulance we heard?" He asked me breathing hard
"Yeah......what about it?" I asked confused on why he was asking about it. I just wanted to know how Eric is
"Apparently there was an accident......And Eric was involved in it" He said softly
I choke on my words. I feel tears. "Is he......ok?" I asked concern
"I don't know yet. But my mom called to say to come to the hospital" He said
"Ok....I heard my name though" I said
"She wants you to come too" He said
I nod. Then Ellie comes down and saw us with tears
"Whats going on? Why are you guys crying?" She asked
"Eric was in an accident. He's at the hospital. Do you wanna come with us?" He asked his girlfriend
"Of course. I'll go get dressed" She said and ran upstairs
5 minutes later we head out to the car. I sat in the back trying to process everything
Once we get to the right hospital. I ran in. Ellie followed me with Arthur. I saw Stephanie, Evie,Maria, Alex, Matt and James. I ran over to them
"Did the doctors come out yet?" I asked
"No sweetie. But don't worry. Eric's a fighter" Stephanie said.
I cry. James brings me into a tight hug.
"It's ok Carley. He will be ok" He said
"No James. Eric and I had a fight. Well argument and he went home. If he just stayed with me he would be here, and be fine" I said to him
"It's not your fault Carley" He said
"It feels like it" I said softly
"It's not" He said again
I sit on one of the hospital chairs and cry. I saw Taylor, Lauren, Gabby and Josh came in
"Is he ok?" Josh asked coming over in a hurry
"He is in surgery right now. But it's not looking good" Alex said while sitting with his mom and dad
"What happened?" Lauren asked
"All we know is he got in a crash. No other information" Stephanie said upset that her first son is in the hospital
A girl around her 30s came over.
"Hi....Are you the family of the guy I called an ambulance for?" She asked us
"Um....I'm his mom. Why? Who are you?" Stephanie asked
"I found your son in his car. He was not breathing and his eyes were closed. So I called as soon as I saw him" She said to Stephanie
"Oh thank you then" Stephanie said. "Can I give you a hug?" She asked. The girl nodded yes and they hugged. "Thank you for helping my son" She said to the women.
Then the women walked off.
"Family of Eric Wilson" A doctor said
We all stand up
"Immediate family" He said this time
"I'm his mother" Stephanie said walking closer to the doctor
"Well your son is a fighter Mrs.Wilson. We did lose him a couple times but now he is stable. However he is in a coma. Also he is now paralyzed because of how his car got smashed. It was in the driver's side so he got the most damage. It may be permeant but it could also be temporary" He said
"And....how long...will he be in a coma?" She asked with a teary voice
"We don't know.....It couple be a couple hours, days, weeks maybe even years. We aren't too sure. But we have him all hooked up and watching him. Now if you would like to go see him you can" He said
"Carley?" Stephanie said looking at me
"Yes?" I asked looking up at her
"Do you wanna come with me?" She asked
"I don't know Stephanie......You should really go first" I said
"I want you to come. You're my son's girlfriend after all" She said with a teary smile
"I.......don't think I can Steph...." I said with tears
"We can do this.....together" She said putting her hand in mine
"Alright follow me" The doctor said
We walked down the hall and on the right there was Eric's room. And when I saw him.....it honestly broke my heart. He was laying there all wired up and still asleep. Well I'm the coma.
"Oh my sweet boy Eric" Stephanie said taking her son's hand in hers after walking over to him
I stood by the door. I couldn't go in further. If Eric and I didn't get into a fight we would be at school by now, happy and celebrating the day of love. And we would have had a good night tonight. But now he's in a coma.....and it's my fault.
"I.....I got to go" I said and ran out. I couldn't be in the room or even the hospital.
I ran all the way out to the cars. I didn't see a car coming and someone pushed me out of the way
"Damnit Carley what is wrong with you!" Arthur yelled at me annoyed. "My cousin is in there and you were about to be hit too!" He said angry
"I want to die Arthur! That's what's wrong with me! Eric should be ok! He should be awake and happy! I did this to him!" I yelled at Eric's cousin
"Carley he doesn't blame you for this. He loves you" He said
"No.....No he doesn't. He probably hates me because of this" I said upset
"The only reason why he would be angry at you is because you left his side when he needed you the most" He said
"I can't go back in there Arthur. Not when he is in there all wired up and not waking up" I said shaking my head
"I know that Eric would be very angry if you weren't there for him. Because he is always there for you when you need him" Arthur said walking back to the hospital
(Eric's POV)
I didn't know what was going on. It's like I was in my own body but at the same time I'm not. But I did hear voices. It sounded like my mom.
"Sweetie you got to wake up" She said
"Mom.....Mom I'm right here" I said waving my hand in front of her face
"Carley is a mess. She thinks she did this to you" She said
"What? Carley didn't do this. I mean yeah we got in a fight but I drove away instead of talking it out, it was my fault" I said to myself
"She needs you here Eric.....We all do" She said putting her hand in my hand
I felt it but it was like I couldn't hold it back. Like there was something blocking me from holding my mom's hand
"Arthur, Alex, Ellie, Lauren, James, Josh, Gabby, Maria, Taylor, Aunt Evie, and Uncle Matt are here. Michelle is at the house, staying with Mikey and Tessa" She said
"Mom, what's going on.....Why can't I talk to you?" I asked her
"Please wake up Eric. We need you here" She said crying
"Mom, I'm right here" I said waving again but my real body doing nothing.
What the fuck is going on!
(Carley's POV)
It's been a couple hours since I was at the hospital. I came to school late, because I couldn't be there for Eric. I wanted too, I really did but I couldn't. If you saw your boyfriend all wired up and not moving you would be feeling the same way I feel right now.
Arthur, Alex and James didn't come to school today because I mean their cousin/brother is in the hospital. The news around the school right now is about Eric. Apparently a lot of people heard the ambulance while some people actually saw him get carried into the ambulance and off to the hospital.
So far in every class someone would ask how am I doing with Eric in the hospital. And some even judged me like saying. "She should be with her boyfriend not here". I just wish they could be in my shoes and say the same thing they are saying right now.
After school I go back to the hospital because after not seeing him since this morning bothered me a lot. Especially because a lot of people judged me
"Uh hey guys" I said awkwardly as I walked up to them
"Hey" Alex, Gabby, Ellie and Arthur said
"What are you doing here?" James asked
"James calm down coz" Arthur said pushing James back to give me some space
"My brother is in there hooked up! And his girlfriend couldn't even be with him. You were here in the morning, where did you go?!" James asked me. He sounded mad and he had the right to be.
"I know you are upset James I am too. I went to school but that's because i couldn't deal with seeing Eric all hooked up to machines and not being awake." I said
"I want you to leave" James said with his arms crossed
"James. She's his girlfriend" Ellie said defending me
"I don't fucking care. She left him here alone! I liked you for him but I see now you were just with him for looks" James said
"Alright James why don't you and I go on a walk?" Taylor said taking her boyfriend's hand
"Fine. Whatever. I hope you're gone when I come back" James said to me but started to take his walk.
Taylor whispered I'm sorry to me then ran to catch up with James
"Maybe I should go" I said
"No. You came here to see him. I'm sure he would be happy to hear from you" Arthur said
"Really?" I asked unsure
"Yeah" They all said in agreement
"Ok" I said but unsure of myself. "So I just walk in?" I asked them
"Yep" They said
I walked to Eric's room. I walked thru the door and saw Michelle
"Hi" She said once she sees me walk in
"Hi. Sorry the gang said I could just come in" I said with my hands behind my back
"I was about done anyways. Here come and talk to him" She said pulling me over to his side. "I'll leave you two alone" She said
I sit in her spot after she leaves. I sigh and look how broken he looks.
"Hi......Eric" I said as my voice broke. "I am so so sorry" I said crying this time. "This shouldn't have happened to you Eric....I should have followed you out. We should have never fought" I said crying.
There was a knock on the door. I saw Arthur.
"Hey....We thought you could use one of us here with you while you talk." He said walking into the room and walked over to me
"I can't be here Arthur.....I really can't" I said crying
"Come here" He said opening his arms
I go into his arms and cried
"It should have been me" I said
He moves me away from his chest. "Hey......don't talk like that. He wouldn't want to hear you say that" He said
"It's true Arthur. Eric should be ok. I am the one who shouldn't" I said crying still
(Eric's POV)
I am really annoyed. Carley just said she should be in my spot. No she shouldn't. Just because we had a fight about doing that.....I don't care. I would never wish this upon anymore. Good or bad.
I turn and see Carley and Arthur still hugging but Ellie came and gave Carley a hug
I looked at myself. "Alright dude. It's time to wake up" I said to him. I don't move. "Come on me you can do it. Carley needs us" I said to him again.
I heard a noise but it didn't sound good because I heard doctors coming rushing in
"You three need to leave now" The doctor said
"What?" They asked but I asked also
"We're losing him doctor" One of the nurses said
"Go out in the waiting room. You can come back once he comes alive again" The doctor said
Some nurse pushed Arthur, Ellie and Carley out. I sat and watched as they shocked me. After 3 times I got a pulse.
Then I suddenly feel better. I open my eyes and try to take a deep breathe
"Hey Eric calm down" One of the doctors said
"Turn the machine off. And get him so water" One of the other doctors said
"Yes doctor" one of the nurses said and took out my mouth thing
I didn't feel my legs. So I started to freak out
"Eric.....Eric take deep breathes alright. Count to 5 to breath in and out for 8" The nurse said
I did as she said. And my chest started to feel better
Some of the doctors leave but one stayed and sat next to me on his little chair
"Eric Wilson?" He asked
I nod
"I'm your doctor. Do you remember what happened to you?" He asked
I think back and remember getting smashed. I nod yes
"Can you tell me what happened?" He asked me
I point to a water glass
"Oh yes. Nurse can you bring the water glass over here. Do you want ice?" He asked me. I shook my head yes. "With ice" He said
The nurse came back in 3 minutes. I try to reach for the water but my body wouldn't let me. He helped me with drinking the water
"Now can you tell me what happened?" He asked
"I uh....left my girlfriend's house in anger. And I was driving. But I got hit. After a minute I suddenly saw black" I said with a very horsed voice
He helps me again with the water since I didn't take that much last time. "Alright do you want the good news first or bad?" He asked
"Good...." I said with a little horsed voice after drinking the water. It was worse but thanks to the water my voice was slowly coming back
"Good news you don't have amnesia" He said
"Bad....news?" I said a little clearer but still horsed
"Well as you can probably tell you can't feel your legs. Am I right?" He asked me
I nod because that's exactly right
"Well I'm sorry to say this Eric but you are paralyzed from the crash. It may be permeant" He said with a sad face
"Fuck....." I said upset
"Now you have a great family and friends. And one girl Carley. She is very sweet. She did try to stay away because of how you are but she came back. You got a good one Eric" He said
I nod and smile. I love Carley
"So I'll go tell them you are awake" he said getting up
"Ok" I said softly and waited for my family to come in
(Doctor's POV)
I walked over to one of the male nurses. "Ben can you come over here for a second?" I asked the nurse
"Yes doctor?" Ben asked
"I need you to tell the mother of Eric that he is awake" I said to him
"Anything else?" He asked me
"No. But if they need to talk to me just come get me" i said and walked away
(Ben's POV)
I walked into the hospital waiting room looking for his family
"Is Mrs.Wilson here?" I asked the teens
"No but I'm his older sister" A girl said
"How old are you?" I asked
"21 years old" She said
"Alright well good news he is up" I said
She starts crying. "Really?" She asked
"Yes. But I'm not sure you heard but he's paralyzed" I said to her
"And um.....how long is that gonna last?" She asked me
"It could be permanent" I said to her honestly
"Ok" She said. "Um thank you" She said
"No problem. Just doing my job" I said
"Hey!" The girl yelled
I turn and stopped walking. "Yes?" I asked
"Is there a way i can repay you helping my brother?" She asked
I chuckle. "I don't really date the patients siblings" I said
"It's not a date. Just a thank you" She said
"Alright. Well maybe the thank you will be after he is out of the hospital" I said
"Yeah. That's what I meant" She said with a laugh
"So what's your name? I can't just keep calling you Eric's older sister" I said
"I'm Michelle" She said
"Well Michelle I am Ben" I said
"Nice to meet you Ben. I should go see my brother and tell the others" She said
"I hope to see you around Michelle" I said
She smiles then walked over to her family
(Eric's POV)
I heard the door open again after 20 minutes of being alone. I saw the one person I have been dying to see for the last 12 or so hours. My girlfriend
"Hi" She said
"Hi" I said with a half smile
She comes over and hugs me
"Ooof Car calm down" I said with a chuckle
"Sorry" She said pulling away
"Hey no. I was joking. Come back" I said pulling her back to me
"I heard the news" She said
"Yep my sports career is over. Kissing basketball and football goodbye" I said sighing
"You can still go to college" She said hopeful
"Have you heard a story that a sports guy gets paralyzed and still get a sports scholarship?" I asked her
"Maybe" She said
I chuckle. "I missed you" I said then kissed her on the lips
"So you don't remember the fight?" She asked me
"No I do. But I mean I just woke up. I don't want to talk about that right now. Is that ok?" I asked her
"Yeah" she said
"Good" I said with a smile
"Well I think your cousins and James wanna see you" She said
"I know but I kind of just want it to be me and you for a little bit longer" I said holding her hand
"And we can after they come in. Oh by the way I think James hates me now" She said playing with my hand
"Whoah, what do you mean?" I asked her
"He thinks I caused this accident. And honestly I agree with him" She said
"Fuck that. Carley, you didn't do this to me. Alright it was my fault for getting into the car and driving" I said
"Yeah but we had a fight" She said
"Yes but I decided to leave your house" I said to her
"It's my fault Eric! Why won't you admit!" She said yelling at me
"Because I'm in love with you!" I yelled at her back
She sighs. "I am too Eric. Like I'm in love with you. But I did this to you. I wouldn't even love me at this time" She said
"Like I said about my brother hating you, fuck that. You know when I was under I Um, heard my mom. And all I wanted to was find you and tell you this isn't your fault" I said to her
She blushes.
"There's my pretty girl" I said lifting her head to look at me. "As beautiful as the day I met you" I said
"Thank you" She said looking at me with tears pouring out
"I love you Carley Levi" I said to her
"I love you Eric Wilson" She said then pecked my lips.
"Woah next time I'll knock" Michelle said coming into the room
"What are you doing in the room Chelle?" I asked my older sister
"I heard yelling. So just making sure everything's ok" She said
"Yeah we are good" I said then looked at Carley. "Right?" I asked her
She nods. "Yeah" She said with a smile
"Well ok since you two are good is it ok to bring in the family?" Michelle asked
"Sure why not" I said to her
"Alright I'll go get them" She said and walked out of the room
"Well there goes our alone time" I said with a joke
"Well I'll be here for you after they leave" She said
"Thanks" I said
"Well if it isn't the fighter!" Arthur yelled walking into the room
I heard a smack
"Hey!" He yelled again
"Stop yelling Arthur" Alex said
"He's awake. What does it matter?" Arthur asked his brother
"Knock it off you two" Aunt Evie said coming into the room. "Hi Eric" She said
"Hi Aunt Evie" I said
Then I heard heels and my mom came in
"Oh thank god you are awake" My mom came over to me and kissed my head
"Yeah mom I'm here" I said
"I just got the call from Evie and came running" she said
James comes in with Taylor. He smiles then it disappears after he sees Carley sitting next to me
"What is she still doing here?" He asked
"James!" My mom and Aunt Evie said
"Well James the girl here is my girlfriend. And she didn't cause this. It was my fault. So I want you to apologize to her right now" I said with my arms crossed
"Why? You guys got in a fight then you drove home and got hit from it. How is it not her fault?" He asked annoyed
"James don't do this" Taylor said to her boyfriend
"James I know I scared all of you today. But I just got news that I may never be able to walk ever again on my own. So if you could set your little ego aside and apologize and be nice just long enough for you to be in my present" I asked my brother
He looks around then sighs.
"I'm happy your ok Eric but I don't like how she is here. So I'll be going" He said then walked out
"James!" I yelled but he walked out anyways
"I'll go follow him. Since I'm his ride" Michelle said
"Yeah and he's my boyfriend. We are glad you are ok Eric" Taylor said sending me a smile
"Thanks Taylor. Please just make sure James is ok" I said
She nods. Michelle and her go after James
"Well I thought today couldn't get anymore dramatic. But it just did" Alex said
"I agree" Arthur said
"Hello Eric here is your food" The nurse said
"Thank you" I said and started eating
"Eric don't eat to fast" Everyone said
"Why?" I said with my mouthful
"Cause you'll choke that's why" Mom said
I swallowed my food and went slower. After the nurse came back in and asked if I wanted pudding or ice cream. I said ice cream. I mean who wouldn't want ice cream. After eating the nurse came and said visiting hours are over. Only one adult could stay. So that meant Carley had to go home
"Drive home safe ok?" i asked her
"I will. I love you, see you tomorrow" She said and kissed me on the lips
"See you all tomorrow" I said to everyone but my mom since she's staying here
My mom and I talked for an hour then I went to sleep again.
