𝗜𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘 and everyone followed behind Dustin in the woods.
"Dustin slow down you're running too fast." Baby complained as she shined her flashlight ahead of her.
"I think we're getting close." He yelled back.
Dustin came to an abrupt stop as Baby ran into him. Eddie held onto the two so they would fall.
"Watch your step, you two." Eddie scolded.
"Oh, man." Steve complained as everyone showed up behind them. "You gotta be shitting me."
"Yeah. I thought these woods were familiar." Eddie nodded looking around.
"Lovers Lake." Robin confirmed.
"This is confounding." Dustin said.
"That's a big word." Jack whispered, his eyes scanning the lake.
"There's a gate in Lovers Lake?" Baby asked furrowing her eyebrows.
"Whenever the Demogorgon attacked," Nancy spoke up. "it always left an opening. Maybe Vecna's the same way."
"Yeah, only one way to find out." Steve responded to Nancy.
Eddie walked over and uncovered a boat that was laying there. He then put it in the lake as Robin grabbed Steve and Eddie's head and hopped on the boat.
"Thank you." Robin said helping Eddie on and then helping Nancy on.
Dustin then attempted to walk on the boat as well but unfortunately for him, Eddie pushed him off.
"Hey, hey, hey, you trying to sink us?" Eddie asked. "This thing holds three people tops, okay?"
"It's better this way, okay? You guys stay here with Max and Baby. Keep an eye out for trouble." Nancy said.
"You keep an eye out!" Dustin said upset. Nancy gave him a confused face, Dustin returned the face. "It's my goddamn theory."
"You heard Nance." Robin defended her.
"Who put her in charge?"
"I did." Robin answered.
Nancy put her hand out. "Compass."
Dustin sighed handing her the compass as Steve threw his backpack to him. Steve then got on the boat.
"You said three!" Dustin yelled.
"Sorry." Steve responded.
"No you're not." Baby shook her head.
"She's right, I'm not." Steve agreed.
"Bedtime at nine, kiddos." Robin yelled as Dustin flipped the group on the boat off. "Miss you already!"
Baby grabbed Jacks wrist looking at his watch. "We've got a half an hour until nine then." Baby huffed.
Everyone sighed as they watched the older kids paddle away. They then saw them come to a stop. Lucas tapped on Jack signaling for him to pay attention to them.
"They're stopping." Lucas stated.
"What are they stopping for?" Jack asked stepping forward.
Dustin grabbed his walkie talkie. "Guys, what's going on?" There was silence. "Come on, talk to me. What's going on?"
"Uh, Dustin, your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital aah!" Robin responded.
Lucas put the binoculars up to his eyes again. "Ugh. When'd Steve get so hairy?" He asked.
"Right? I keep telling him he needs to tame that jungle, but he claims the ladies dig it." Dustin shrugged.
"I agree." Jack nodded. "I tried convincing him to shave but he refuses. It's so gross." he shook his head.
Max and Baby both stepped forward.
"Let us see." Max grabbed the binoculars out of Lucas's hands.
"What?" Jack asked.
She put one of her eyes in the hole as Baby put her eye in the other hole and they shared it, watching Steve and his muscles.
Baby broke the silence. "Wow, Steve has muscles." she whispered and then looked at Jack.
Jack shrugged as it went to awkward silence again.
Dustin then spoke up as they watched Steve dive into the water. "You guys realize, there's a gate down there. Technically, it's a watergate." he smiled.
Jack nodded rubbing his hand on Dustin's back.
"Watergate." Dustin said as everyone still stayed silent, he laughed.
Jack just continued to nod his head agreeing with Dustin.
There was more silence as Eileen gave Dustin the binoculars.
"Come on, Steve. Come on." Dustin whispered.
They all turned around as they noticed light and noise behind them.
"Shit. Down!" Jack informed as everyone quickly got to the ground.
Jack and Baby both held onto each other's hands. They could hear chatting in the distance.
"Dustin you're a goddamn Einstein. Steve found the gate-" Dustin quickly shut the talkie off so it wouldn't make any noise.
There was sirens in the distance meaning it was the cops.
"Cops." Max confirmed.
"Shit, shit, shit." Dustin whispered.
"You know, I'm really not in the mood to get arrested today." Jack panted.
"We can't let 'em find Eddie." Dustin added.
Babys eyes widened at the thought of them finding Eddie. She nodded in agreement.
Max looked at the three. "Stay with me." She stood up.
"Hey, officers!" Max yelled.
"Max, no!" Baby shook her head putting her hand on Maxs leg.
"Over here! I found the killer! This way!" Max continued yelling.
"Max, stop!" Jack scolded.
"Shit." Dustin whispered as everyone stood up running away.
"Get back here!" One of the officers yelled.
Dustin fell to the ground as Baby and the others turned around for him.
"Dustin!" Jack yelled as they all walked up to him being held by the new chief. Chief Powell.
"Hey there."

Everyone was brought back to the Wheelers house for questioning. The cops stood around the four kids in a chair.
"What exactly were you all doing at the lake?" Powell asked them.
Everyone looked at each other.
"Uh..." Dustin trailed off. "It's-"
"We were..." Max spoke.
"We were just going for a walk." Jack lied as Baby nodded.
"A walk?" Callahan repeated. "At 9:00 pm.?"
"To the lake." Dustin shrugged.
"We're gonna...take a little swim." Baby agreed with her twin, both their voices were super high because they didn't like to lie.
"Little night swim." Dustin nodded.
"Dusty, Baby." Claudia said as tears fell down her eyes. "Someone was just murdered there."
"Yeah, we...we didn't realize that until we got there." Dustin responded to their mom.
"That's why we didn't swim." Lucas said.
"And Nancy, was she with you at this night swim?" Karen asked the group.
"No." Max said as Dustin said, "Yes."
The two kids looked at each other.
"We're not sure." Jack said.
"She was there." Dustin said.
"Then she left." Baby added.
"It's all a little confusing." The twin boy nodded.
"That's when you guys came." Lucas said.
"Right. Then they dared me to say what I said." Max covered up. "About the killer."
"Oh, yeah." Lucas nodded as everyone laughed at it.
"Who doesn't love a game of truth or dare." Baby smiled.
"You're lucky you didn't get shot." Mr.Wheeler said.
"Seriously?" Jack furrowed his eyebrows at the dad. Why would he say that?
"Have you had contact with Eddie?" Powell continued asking questions.
"That psycho...freak killer?" Dustin asked as everyone shook their head no. "God, no."
"Nope." Baby said popping the 'p'. "Absolutely not. He's a weirdo."
"No. We haven't heard from him." Max agreed.
"We barely know the guy." Lucas agreed.
"Yeah, who is Eddie?" Jack asked as everyone shrugged.
"Oh, that's a bunch of bull." Erica Sinclair stepped forward.
"Erica!" Mr and Mrs. Sinclair scolded.
"I mean, you realize they're lying." They gestured towards the group. "The whole couch is on fire."
"Erica!" They continued scolding.
"Just the facts!" Erica said as
"Are you lying to these policemen, Dusty and Baby?" Claudia asked them.
"No!" The two twins said in sync.
"Lying to the cops is a crime, son." Lucas's dad said to him.
"I'm not lying." Lucas defend himself.
"The fire is consuming us."
"Threaten them with a little jail time. Maybe that'll loosen their lips." Ted suggested.
"Okay-" Dustin responded.
"You wanna send our kids to jail?"
"We need to take this seriously." Ted responded.
"He didn't mean it like that." Karen defended her lousy husband.
Everyone then started to talk and argue over each other. Baby let out a sigh as Jack looked at her giving her a sympathetic sigh, their pinkies inched towards each other.
Jack and Baby then linked pinkies, not letting go.
"Shut up!" Powell yelled causing everyone to go silent.
"Oh, wow." Baby whispered.
"We're gonna try a more civilized approach." He spoke up. "One at a time. You first." He pointed to Max.
"Wait, what? Why me?"
"I'm not even in Hellfire." Max scoffed.
"Do I need to cuff you?" Callahan asked.
Everyone looked at each other in shock and disbelief.
"Chop-chop. Let's go." Callahan said as Max got up and the two walked away.
Everyone sighed looking around. Jack was just praying that Steve was okay.
