Scarlett POV
It's been almost six months since Y/N got into the accident or I have been staying at her house. The doctor said there were signs of improvement in her brain activity meaning she was receiving signals from us. It shouldn't be long before she woke up, hence we were back to staying in the hospital again.
"Hey Y/N, there's this script that I have been given but I'm not sure if I'm going to take it up yet. The director said it was just going to be my voice so I'm going to read it to you and you can tell me what you think alright?" Again there was no reply.
I began reading the part of the script I was given as I sat next to Y/N.
Even after reading, there wasn't any reaction coming from her other than the beeping sound coming from her machine.
"Keep doing that and she should wake up soon." I didn't even notice that her doctor was in the room. "Her brain scans show peaks when you are reading so I'm sure she can feel what you're reading." She was going through the graph that was constantly printing out.
"Thank you, I really hope she will wake up soon." I moved her hair back and caressed her cheeks a little. The doctor wrote some things on her board before leaving the room.
---
I was talking to the director on the phone talking about the acceptance of the script and my participation in the movie. He told me that I should only be needed after the filming was done and in a few months time.
I was holding her hand while talking when I felt a squeeze. I quickly hung up the phone and checked on her. "Y/N? Y/N, if you can hear me, squeeze my hand again."
I stayed quiet, looking for any sign of movement and heightening my senses. Finally after what felt like ages, she squeezed my hands again and I released my breath that I didn't know I was holding.
"You can do it, you're so close to waking up." I encouraged her, now knowing that she can hear me. I pressed the red button above her headboard to notify nurses and doctors to ensure the room. They came in and tried to ask for some response which they got but Y/N wasn't opening her eyes.
"There's a very high possibility that she will wake up within the week. We can only wait for her to wake up before we begin further testing." The doctor said before leaving.
For the rest of the week, I stayed close to her afraid that I would miss anything if I left for too long. I bought lunch and dinner and ate next to her while talking, hoping to make her jealous that I was eating delicious food while she was sleeping. Maybe she would wake up and snatch the food away from me.
She's been giving us more and more signals each passing day but she still wasn't waking up.
"Hey, I also bought some clothes for you since I was staying in your house for the past few months. I figured it could act as the payment for staying in your house and using your stuff but let's be real, there wasn't even anything to use so I am really paying for my own stay. I- I could probably use them the next time I live in your house."
Finally, I saw her eyes twitching, no I saw her eyes opening slowly. I bolted up from my seat and hovered near her. "Y/N, can you see me?" She didn't reply but I could see her eyes moving in my direction.
I immediately called for her doctor once I realised I was not imagining things. There were days when I thought that she was going to wake up but ended up getting disappointed so I made sure to double check this time.
They did the mandatory checks on her, noting down her blood pressure and heartbeat. "It will take some time for her to feel normal again after not using her limbs for so long. Her body's still tired from recovering so she will feel tired all the time. If everything goes well, I'd say she can discharge in 3 days."
It's been long since I smiled this hard and long. "Y/N! I'm so glad that you woke up." I said after thanking the doctor and seeing her off.
Your POV
"How long...?" I wanted to add more to my sentence but I was too tired to speak. However, Scarlett knew what I was asking her.
"About 6 months."
It's roughly around my estimate from what I heard from the doctor. Low brain activity tends to take longer to get back to normal and thankfully, I didn't suffer from other serious brain injury.
"Thank you..." I wanted to explain further but I fell back asleep again. While I was in a coma, I heard some voices. It was majorly Scarlett's. I heard bits and pieces of what she said. I heard that she was going to star in some movie that she was going to participate in post production. Well, I am still unsure about it until the nurse told me that she was the one who was with me throughout my check ups while Scarlett was talking to the doctor.
When I woke up again, Scarlett was still next to me. She smiled at me when she noticed I woke up. "You don't have to go home?" While I was grateful that she was with me, I was worried that she was leaving her home unattended, she had her own life to get to.
"If I can live more than 6 months away from home for filming, I can stay with you."
"You don't have to."
"But I want to. And, can you say that you would have woken up at the same time without me here?"
"Thank you. I heard you were the one who took care of me these past months. I don't even know how to thank you." I know she has done a lot for me and she did it all alone, if that doesn't signify strength, I don't know what else does.
"You can go on a date with me."
"What? Surely there's something else I can do."
"Nope. I only want that." I looked at her with pleading eyes hoping she would change her mind but it was to no avail. "I'll take you out when you discharge so you can't run away."
"Alright."
She cheered when I finally agreed to her request and she still has the same goofy smile on her face I've come to love and adore.
>day of discharge<
Even as much as I told Scarlett to go back home so she could finally have a nice rest at home, she continued staying in my hospital room and slept on the couch.
"Looking great Y/N. I will get the nurse to get your discharge papers ready. If you feel any discomfort, come back to the hospital immediately." The doctor explained.
"Yes. Thank you"
As I started packing, I realised that a lot of my clothes were here even though I had no use for them as I was wearing the hospital gown. It was only then I realise that it was Scarlett who had been using my clothes all the while. I have to remind myself to check through for stains before I'm allowed to return it or I'm not going to get back my deposit.
"Are you ready to go? Do you need any help?" Scarlett asked.
"I'm alright. I'm just going to the receptionist to get the bill." I told her.
"You don't have to, I got it covered." My eyes almost popped out when she told me that.
"Scarlett! It's going to cost a lot!"
"Nothing I can't afford. I've built up quite a bit of fortune after we broke up. I dove into projects one after the other and what's the use if I can't spend it?" She smirked directing me to the place where she parked her car.
"Wait a minute, let me just get something from the reception." I went to the receptionist and asked them to email the receipt to me and asked if there were any medications that I needed to collect.
"The doctor said only if you felt some dizziness." She said after checking the records in the system. I thanked her and found Scarlett waiting at the drop off point.
"Did you need to get something?"
"Just checking if there were any medications prescribed. Sometimes, they will only give if the patient requests it." She nodded as I explained to her.
She drove us to my house and told me shower and freshen up before we head for the date she had planned. As I picked out my clothes to bring in with me, I noticed that there were clothes that I don't recognise.
"I bought you some clothes." Scarlett said when she noticed I was staring into my closet. "Like we said we would when we were together."
"T-thank."
"Pick something out that you've never seen before." She said before leaving my room.
I quickly have a shower and dried my hair before changing into something that Scarlett had bought.
"I thought you said we were going on a date?" I stated when I noticed she just finished plating up the spaghetti she cooked.
"We're having it here. I didn't want to risk you feeling fainting or something. I know you're not going to say if you feel something is wrong." She smiled.
"And drinking wine is okay?"
"That's all you're going to get, so savour it." She said as she poured more for herself in her cup.
The date went great as we talked about the thing I've missed while I was in a coma. So I was right in thinking she was going into another project. Kinda excited to see how it would turn out, since it was something different.
"I'm not sure if I left anything behind since I have been staying here for quite some time, feel free to give me a call if I did." She said as she grabbed her bags and got ready to leave.
"I got it. Though I'm not sure if I'm able to find anything. I think you used this house more than I ever would since I'm always in the hospital working long shifts." We stayed in a conversation as we were standing at the door.
She nodded and chuckled. "I always thought you were just hiding from me." She whispered but I heard her.
"This isn't going to be the last date. I'm just letting you know from this date onwards, I'm chasing you." She said with confidence as she leaned closer to me and kissed my cheek.
"See you." She waving turning away as I was left there stunned.
What a wake up call.
