"And why are you being here again tonight?" Haruto asked.
"Why? Can't I?" I asked him. It has been a few days I've restrained myself not to video call or chat Hyunsuk more than necessary. A few days ago, Doyoung told me that Hyunsuk has been struggling to do one of his report. It seems like it's not just Hyunsuk, Doyoung and some other kids in their major also have been struggling as well.
I can see that Hyunsuk looked quite tired past few days. That's why I'm trying my best not to bother him. I can just talk to him when we meet at the campus but still. It's not enough for me.
"I can't call or chat Hyunsuk yet," I whined.
"Why? You guys broke up already?" Haruto asked. I glared at him. "You guys didn't even started to suddenly broke up,"
"Doyoung said that his major is struggling with a report. Hyunsuk as well. I don't want to bother him yet," I said.
"Since when did you get this concerned on other people?" Haruto asked.
"Why? Can't I?" I asked him back.
"I'm just wondering," Haruto said. "You like him that much, huh?"
I froze for a bit. Then I realized. It's Haruto. He might already noticed that I have a crush on Hyunsuk. He probably even noticed that Hyunsuk has been staring at me during lunch before we become friends.
"Can't I?" I asked. Just want to annoyed him.
"This is why Junkyu always trying to avoid you. You're this annoying," Haruto said.
"What's going on between you and Junkyu?" I asked.
"Nothing much," Haruto said. "His friends said that it's hard to ask him to hang out. But he always hang out with me. Or Jeongwoo,"
"What?! He hang out with you and Jeongwoo?!" I can't believe it. How Junkyu get that close to these kids but still refusing to hang out with me? Well. Maybe because I've been annoyed him for so many times. I need to really tone it down. Seriously.
"Yeah. And you have been hanging out with Hyunsuk these days," Haruto said. "You're not going to confess to him?"
I tuned to look at Haruto. He looked serious.
"Come on. I know you've been liking him way longer than when you become friends with him," Haruto said. "And now you're successfully his friend. Then? You're just going to stay silent about your feeling?"
"I just- I don't know, Ruto-ya," I let out a sigh. "Did Junkyu told you anything about Hyunsuk when you guys hanging out together?"
"Um.. No," Haruto said but his eyes are wandering around. Indicating he's lying. I believe that Junkyu probably already talked about it to Haruto. Or at least about Hyunsuk who has been staring at me during lunch that Haruto himself already noticed it. "But seriously, someday people will notice your feeling toward Hyunsuk too,"
I've been told you that you can't even pretend, so do I
"I want him to tell me his feeling first," I said.
"Huh. Do you think he will? You said that you haven't chat or video call him for days, right? Have he chat you first? Or call you first?" Haruto asked. No. Never. It's always me who initiated it.
I was the first one who called him. I was the first one who chatted him. Hyunsuk just replied me or talked to me because I did it first.
"He's... busy, Haruto," I said. Trying to lying to myself. I really want to asked him right now if he actually like me or not. Or is he ever see me as his friend.
"Suit yourself, Park Jihoon," Haruto said. "By the way, did Mashiho told you that he's coming back?"
"He did," I said. Mashiho told me last week that he's coming back as his transfer program is going to end soon. Of course I am happy that one of my close friends is coming back. But still, I can't get Hyunsuk out of my mind.
On the very next day, I decided to buy something for Hyunsuk. I noticed that he's not spending his lunch break at the cafeteria with Junkyu these past few days. Maybe he's that busy.
"Hyunsukie~~" I called his name as I saw him sitting on a bench near the hallway.
I sit right next to him. Hyunsuk looked like he's spacing out. He does looked tired. Is he even eating well? I haven't get a chance to asked him those things.
"Sukie?" I called him again. Hyunsuk finally turned at me. "Are you alright? You don't really look good,"
"I'm fine," Hyunsuk said. He let out a sigh. "I'm just quite tired,"
"Don't force yourself too much, Hyunsuk-ah. Take care of your health as well," I said. I genuinely worried right now. I handed him the bread that he just bought. "Here. I heard that his bread is quite good that it's always sold out every day,"
"Thanks," he said as he took the bread from my hand. I just smiled at him. Hoping that he'll smile back at me. Before I could see Hyunsuk smiling back at me, I heard Jeongwoo's voice.
"Yah! How did you guys get that bread?!" Hyunsuk quickly turned at Jeongwoo who just approached us. "I've been queuing for 30 minutes just for them telling me that it's out of stock for today,"
"You want it?" Hyunsuk asked.
"No. No. I bought it for Hyunsuk. You. Try again tomorrow yourself," I hold and pulled Hyunsuk's hand not letting him to offered Jeongwoo the bread.
"Tsk. Stingy," Jeongwoo said.
"Jeongwoo-ya!" Junkyu walked fast toward us. "Look what I just bought?"
Junkyu showed him a paper bag filled with the bread.
"How did you get those?!" Jeongwoo asked excitedly.
"I was the first one who manage to buy this today," Junkyu said proudly. "I wanted to give it to you since you always said that you want to eat this but couldn't buy it because it always sold out,"
"Kim Junkyu.. I'm touched," Jeongwoo said.
"Anything for my best buddy," Junkyu said.
"Since when did you guys being best buddy?" Hyunsuk asked.
"True. Didn't you close with Haruto, Jeongwoo-ya?" I asked. Suddenly I recalled that Haruto told me about Junkyu always hanging out with either him or Jeongwoo.
"I don't need someone who didn't buy me the always sold out bread," Jeongwoo said. He started to eat one of the bread.
"Eat a lot, Jeongwoo-ya," Junkyu said while patting Jeongwoo's head softly. Jeongwoo smile brightly at Junkyu while eating the bread happily.
"Wow! The always sold out bread!" Junghwan said.
"My best buddy bought it for me," Jeongwoo said proudly.
"And you are not going to share it aren't you?" Junghwan asked.
"I was planning to give you one since my best buddy bought a lot for me. But since you said that, I won't," Jeongwoo said.
"Jeongwoo-ya~~" Junghwan whined, almost acting cute.
"Because that's cute. I'll give you one," Jeongwoo gave Junghwan one of the bread.
"How easy to please Park Jeongwoo," I said while shaking my head slightly.
"But he's cute," Jeongwoo said.
"Ah! I heard that Mashi is coming back. Is it true?" Junghwan asked.
"Yeah. He said he's transfer program will end next week," I said.
"You must be really happy, right, Jihoon-ah," Junghwan said.
"Of course," I said.
"Who's Mashi?" Junkyu asked. Oh! Junkyu probably didn't know Mashiho. They took different majors.
"Mashiho. Takata Mashiho. Jihoon's favorite boy," Junghwan said. My eyes caught that Hyunsuk looked surprised hearing that words. "They're like boyfriends already,"
"Yah! What are you guys doing here?" Before I could say anything about it, Yedam who just walked toward us asked. "Our class will start in 5 minutes,"
"What?!" I shouted. I started to zipping my bag in rush. I seriously going to be late.
"And what are you doing here?" Junkyu asked Yedam.
"The TA asked me to bring something to the office. Let's go before the crazy lecture arrived," Yedam said.
Me and Junkyu quickly walked toward our next class's lecture hall followed by Yedam. We'll be dead if we're late today. I really want to say something about Mashiho to Hyunsuk. But it doesn't seems like he actually care about it though.
