I just wrote and wrote and suddenly it became this long.
Wanda POV
I could tell something was in Natasha's mind and it's related to Y/N. Ever since she told me to switch with her and be Y/N's partner for missions, she has been cooped up in her office and we hardly ever saw her.
We all had no idea what she was doing in her office, Fury wasn't giving her a lot of things to do as I've heard. I trust that Nat knows what she's doing so I'm just going to keep doing what she told me.
"Y/N, have you seen Nat?" I asked her as she was reading her book in the kitchen.
"No, I haven't seen her today." She shook her head. Why did it not bother Y/N at all that she hasn't seen Nat? I thought they were best friends.
"Do you know what's going on with Nat? I haven't seen her lately."
"I... have no idea. I really don't know." While it felt like she was telling the truth, why do I feel like she's hiding something from me? I promised to the team I wouldn't look in their heads so I walked away before I did something wrong.
Natasha POV
I found it! At least I think I found it. This was the only time I appreciated the mission reports as it was something I finally relied on. As far as I know, this has continued on for years so I looked through all the mission reports done by Y/N to see when this started.
Y/N has been with us for 5 years. So I went back to the beginning to analyse her mission reports along with the ones we wrote.
Each mission report, we are supposed to write what based on what we encounter and what could be done better in the future. I noticed on one of her mission reports, the things she wrote were very similar to us. She took bits and pieces of the other team members' mission reports and put it as her own. This is unlike her as she is usually assigned to a different role from us. She wouldn't be seeing what Steve or even Clint would see.
Getting the date and report number, I went to the database to search for the mission we went on and found the base we raided. It was in Germany and it was a team mission since it was a large base to clear. By the time we raided this base, she wasn't a rookie anymore. And I didn't remember her getting hurt.
I think I can find more answers in the base. We must have missed something that Y/N found and was unable to tell us since she lost her memories of that day.
"Clint, I need your help." I found him hiding in his vent as usual. He jumped down after I repeatedly knocked on the walls of the vent. "I need to go to Germany."
"What for? To see your girlfriend?" The team knew I was lesbian but I rolled eyes when I was serious about needing help.
"I need to see the base we cleared before."
"Why?"
"Are you going to help me or what? If not, I'm going alone." I said.
"Okay, I'm going. But how are we going to get there?" I smirked at him as we walked towards the landing field. "We are going to hijack one." As soon as I was done speaking, a jet landed. Not the normal quinjet we would use but it gets things done.
We went from cover to cover and hopped in the jet before anyone noticed. Once we started the engine it was a race against time to get out of here and they would have noticed that someone was in it.
"Why did I even agree to this?" He muttered under his breath as I flew the jet out of the compound.
"Nat, I know you're in there. I need you to turn back." Steve said through the system in the jet.
"No can do."
"You can't just steal the jet-" I switched off the communication device and cut him off.
Your POV
The alarm sounded and everyone ran out to check what was going on. Everyone was on high alert until Steve found out that it was Nat and Clint who stole a jet from the compound.
I had no idea what they were doing. Apparently, no one has seen Nat for a few days and now she does this kind of stunt? I continued reading my book that I was almost done reading since it has been a really slow day.
The next day, everyone kept trying to find Nat and Clint's location but no success. I didn't know how to help since I didn't know how this started but according to my notes that I got in my room, Nat is a level headed person so I can't figure out why she has done this. I noted down the date she left knowing I should probably have this in my mind since the team is likely going to question me on this.
I started writing down everything I know and what the team has told me. It wasn't a lot, I'm sure the team said more the day before but I cannot remember anything apart from when I just woke up.
A couple days later, Nat finally came back with Clint and they got scolded by Steve for leaving randomly and stealing the jet without permission. The rest got cut off as they went in a room and I was unable to hear anymore.
When they came out, Nat wore an unreadable expression and I was unable to tell if it ended well or not. She walked towards the team and I didn't expect her to grab my arm and pull me away.
"Nat!" I looked between her and the team that was getting further and further away from me. "Nat, what are you doing?" She finally released her hand when we arrived in front of my room.
"Open the door." I looked at her before entering the code to unlock the door.
"I found a way to cure you, to cure all this." She pointed around the room.
"What are you talking about?" I looked at her as if she was crazy.
"I went to find what caused this. I went back to the base that you raided with us before all this happened. Guess what I found...? The serum that turned you like this." She blurted out her findings for her personal mission. "At least, I think I found a way. Bruce has to find a way to reverse it." She sounds less confident at the end.
"You can't tell me this and expect me to be okay with it." I shook my head and held my head in my hands. "You can't expect me to sleep and forget everything about this."
"Don't you want to go back to normal? Instead of having to be afraid of going to sleep in case you are going to forget something."
"This is my new normal." I argued.
"But you went through that alone, we can do this again together."
"I'm scared, Nat. I don't know if I can do this again."
"I love you! I'll be with you." I was shocked by Nat's sudden confession.
"Call me selfish but I don't want to be the only one to remember in this relationship. I don't want to have to go through each day and you don't remember all the amazing things we did the day before."
I looked at Nat as if she was crazy. Why would she love me? How did it even happen? I don't even know much about her other than the 24 hours I'm awake and the notes I wrote about her.
"I already gave Bruce the serum, he should have the antidote by tomorrow. It's up to you if you want to take it." She noticed that I wasn't speaking and decided it was better to leave. "I'm sorry."
My body moved and I grabbed her arm before I could think. "Uhh I..." I didn't know what to say or even know why I held her back.
Nat stared at me blankly as she waited for me to speak. "I- I'm going to take the antidote. And- and perhaps..." I struggled to get the words out my mouth. "We could give us a try...?" I turned it into a question at the end.
Thankfully she smiled at me and gave me a hug. "Let's make full use of today shall we?" She said.
There were no expectations on my part because there was nothing for me to fall back on but I was nervous about what's to come. When Nat started dragging me around, the rest of the team didn't say anything or seemed surprised.
Natasha POV
I already had everything planned out. I've thought about today for the longest time and I'm so excited to put it into action.
First, we are going to get some new clothes for Y/N and myself before I bring her to the park and do some sightseeing. I know she's been out a few times but she couldn't remember anyways so I'm going to treat it as her first.
We went into H&M and got a few dresses and shirts. I love seeing her twirl around in the dresses she tried. We went to get Starbucks before heading to the park carrying all the new clothes we bought for our wardrobe.
"It's really bright outside." She said as she sipped on her cold brew. We were sitting on the swings since it was empty, no children were playing around.
"But sometimes it can be really dark. The streets can be really dangerous. It's where most of the illegal stuff happens."
"Shall we place our bags in the compound before doing some sightseeing?" I suggested, turning away from the down topic. She nodded her head and we went back.
Y/N said she wanted to see the Statue of Liberty so we took my bike and headed there. It is quite far as it was situated near the sea. I gave her a jacket to protect her from the wind as we got there. I figured she should get the full view of the statue and get some pictures before we head up.
"Wow... it's bigger than I imagined."
"Yeah. Why don't you stand in front? I'll help you take a picture." Each second she just gets more and more beautiful, especially with how she was trying to hold her hair back in the wind. I stared at her longer than I intended before returning her phone.
"We should get one together." Y/N said after looking through the photos I took. She went to place her phone on the ledge and start the timer before rushing back to my side. "Smile Nat!"
Oh I'm smiling, I don't even need to think about when I'm with you.
When we got to the top of Statue of Liberty, she was so excited and thankfully there weren't many people around as she would have knocked all of them. "Woahhh I can see so far."
"Be careful, I don't want you to be falling off." I said.
"Will you catch me if I fall?"
"Of course."
Finally, it was time for dinner and I brought Y/N to a fancy restaurant that serves Mexican food. I don't think she has tried it before and I'm quite excited to find out what she thinks about it.
"I'm not sure if it's my first time trying taco but I really love it!"
"We should have taco tuesday from now on then." Perhaps it wasn't right to be planning ahead when we are not sure if the antidote works but I'm being positive.
"I shouldn't have eaten so much Nat... I'm having a food coma..."
"We can't have that can we." I helped her onto my bike and placed the helmet on her securely before doing mine. "Hold on tight. We are going for a ride."
I smiled when I felt her arms on my waist tightened as I sped up. I drove us to the beach that was nearer to the compound so it was easier for us to head back later.
"Nat! Nat! Slow down! I'm not tired anymore. Oh my god! Please don't crash." Y/N shouted when I started going above 55miles/90km per hour. I could feel her heartbeat against my back as she tried not to fall off when I swerved in and out of cars.
I chuckled and slowed down slightly as we reached the busy streets.
We allowed ourselves to stroll by the beach as we held onto our shoes so that the water could hit our legs. I could tell that Y/N had something in her mind when I looked at her. "What are you thinking?"
"Just... did anyone else know about this? I thought they would be wondering where we are by now."
"I had to tell Steve, Tony and Bruce the reason, but I just told them it was to get back your memories. The others probably just figure out I have a crush on you."
"How long did you have a crush on me?"
"About a year." She nodded her head when I told her. "Shall we head back? It's getting dark. We can have a movie marathon in the movie theatre so others won't bother us." I suggested.
She nodded and we dried off our feet before wearing our shoes again. The ride back was smooth as I drove back at a steady speed.
"Go change into comfortable clothes and I'll meet you in the theatre." I nodded towards the elevator as I dropped her off and went to park my bike in the garage. When I met her again, she already had all the snacks and drinks displayed on the table and Netflix ready to run.
"Did you ask Tony for this place too?"
"I may have done something like that. What do you want to watch first?"
"Hmm, anything really. Technically this would be my first time watching anything. According to my records, the longest I've been awake is 38, almost 40 hours?"
"La La Land?" She nodded and scrolled to the movie and we watched it together in the dark room.
As the time passed, we watched more movies including James Bond, Jurassic Park and The Martian. When Y/N went to get the refill for some popcorn because that was what we ate the most, I told her to come cuddle with me when she came back and she did so easily.
We went on watching some Disney movies until dawn. In order to stay awake with Y/N, I have been drinking energy drinks and coffee to keep myself going. Y/N was able to stay awake with some coffee as well but she was drinking way less than I did.
"Should we make breakfast for the rest since we are awake? Might as well be moving to keep our spirits up." She suggested.
I nodded and cleaned up the area as she got ready in the kitchen. By the time I found her in the kitchen, she had mixed the pancake mix and was ready to pour it in a pan.
"You know, if you're tired you can sleep. You don't have to accompany me." She said as she began to pour the batter in the heated pan.
"No, I'm going to do this until the end." I said stubbornly, if she has been doing this for so long, I should at least be able to do this once. She chuckled and plated the pancakes. Each of us took one and covered the rest and ate silently as Y/N sipped on her orange juice. With or without her memory, she drinks orange juice in the morning without fail. Hence, I regularly made sure there was orange juice in the fridge.
"Shall we check if the boys pulled an all-nighter? She nodded her head and we went to the lab to check on them.
Tony and Bruce were still talking like they had full energy and not even an hour had passed. I knocked on the door as we entered and Bruce finally saw us. "Hi, you guys are back! I have the antidote ready. Why don't we head to an empty room so it's easier." It was a mess around the lab with all sorts of equipment laying on top of each other. You wouldn't know which is dangerous with electricity or not.
"... so it's best if you stay awake for a while before going to sleep again. When you wake up again, hopefully you remember everything since you woke up today. Is that alright?" Bruce went through the procedure with us and made sure Y/N was okay with it before injecting her with the serum.
Y/N took a deep breath and I squeezed her hand to give her some support. "Okay. I'm ready." She took her seat at the bed and Bruce measured the liquid before injecting it in Y/N's arm.
"I would say about 30 minutes is fine. But longer is also alright. If there's anything wrong, come and find me immediately. I will be in the lab."
"Thanks Bruce." We said at the same time.
There were a few awkward moments of silence after Bruce left. Neither of us knew what to say as we have been by each other's side for more than 24 hours. There has been a question I wanted to ask ever since we went out together. This seemed to be the appropriate time to ask it, not knowing if I ever have the chance again.
"Do... you want to be my girlfriend?" She widened her eyes when I finally asked the question.
"Do you want the answer now or later?"
I thought for a moment. Would I be able to live with it if she said yes but forgot everything or if she said no and we continue to live in the same compound?
"If you remember, tell me when you wake up again." She nodded.
We didn't say anything else but I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable if I kept staring at her so we looked straight ahead. This last 30 minutes seems to last longer than usual. Suddenly I heard sniffling and Y/N had tears running down her face.
I immediately sat next to her on her bed and cupped her face. "Why are you crying? Is something hurting you? Should I go get Bruce?" I asked worriedly.
She shook her head and held me tightly when I went closer. "What if this doesn't work? What if I wake up and I forget everything that has happened?" Her voice cracked as she cried. "I don't want to forget this, Nat..." It hurt me to see her cry but we have to accept that this is a possibility.
I wiped her tears away with my thumb. "Then I'll chase you everyday, I'll make you fall in love with me everyday when you wake up. We'll have our taco tuesday, on friday night we can have a movie marathon, on some days if my game is strong enough, we can cuddle together. I won't stop until I make you mine."
"Nat..."
"Can I... I can kiss you?" I asked.
"Please do." I reached forward and it was the most electrifying kiss I ever had. "Can you cuddle with me until I fall asleep?"
"Sure." She made some space for me and I got in bed with her.
We stayed together until her breath steadied and she fell asleep. "I love you so much Y/N." I kissed her forehead before falling asleep with her in bed.
I woke up around dinner time and Y/N was still asleep so I left her be and went to the kitchen. I was met with all sorts of questions by the team as soon as they saw me. I just told them the basics, wanting to wait for the results before telling them the rest.
"I'm glad you made your move. Don't stop." Wanda said as she was cooking.
"Thanks. I won't." Y/N is the one I'm ending up with. It's her or no one else.
I was scrolling through my phone checking for some new places I could bring Y/N to while waiting for dinner. We could have helped Wanda but she denied us saying she didn't want the kitchen to burn down. Steve or Clint could have helped Wanda but she was fine cooking alone. We were there to talk or for emotional support though.
Suddenly, we heard footsteps running and before I could turn to look towards the direction, someone pulled my body and brought me into a kiss. I was shocked at the person who did this until I took a good look at their face.
"Yes. I'll be your girlfriend."
