Risa and Leni eventually fell asleep together on the sofa. The next day, Leni was awaken by the ring of Risa's phone which was on the coffee table.
"Love.. Your phone.." Leni, closed eyes, said in her bedroom voice.
Risa didn't respond.
"Love, sagutin mo na. Ang sakit sa ulo ng ring ng phone mo. Sabado, ba't may tumatawag sa'yo? Diyos ko. Ni hindi pa nga sumisikat ang araw."
She softly shook Risa's shoulder, "Baka emergency. Sagutin mo na."
Risa groaned and reached for her phone. She answered without looking at the caller ID.
"Good morning. Who is this?" she said in a husky voice.
Risa's eyes widen when she heard who's talking on the other line.
"Lucy?!" she exclaimed.
A loud thud was heard after.
"Oh shit. Aray!" Risa.
"Oh, are you okay senator?" Lucy asked worriedly.
"Ah. Y-yes, Lucy. May natabig lang ako.. Napatawag ka?"
"Nagising ba kita?"
"Okay lang. Ganito din naman ako gumising kapag weekdays."
"Alright, sen. Just wanna invite you sana for a hiking. I know this is so sudden. But, are you available later 'til tomorrow?"
"Hiking? Later na?"
Leni's eyes were already on fire hearing the conversation of Risa and Lucy.
"If you are free lang naman sen."
"Uhmm. I am free naman, kaso hiking is not my thing Lucy, e."
"Don't worry, sen. Half of the distance naman we can use pa some heavy duty cars, then the other half nalang lalakarin natin. Sama ka na. Please?"
Leni stood up and about to walk out but Risa grabbed her arm.
Risa covered the mouthpiece of her phone.
"Pangga, ano sasabihin ko?" Risa asked Leni.
"Malaki kana, Ana Theresia." and walked going to the kitchen.
After some time, Risa followed her and slapped her on her arm.
"Bakit mo ako tinulak kanina? Ang sakit tuloy ng balakang ko." Risa ranted.
Leni huffed.
"Sa susunod, diyan na kita sa terrace itutulak."
"Ang aga-aga, init na agad ng ulo mo."
"So, buo na araw mo kasi si Lucy pa nanggising sa'yo?" Leni said sarcastically.
"Pangga naman, e. Galit ka pa rin?"
"May palitan ng number pa palang naganap kahapon. Diko pa malaman kung hindi pa tumawag."
"Pangga.."
"Sige na. Maligo ka na at magready. Ako na magluluto ng umagahan. Nakakahiya naman kung malate ka pa diba."
Risa slowly turned her back from Leni and went inside the bedroom to prepare. Leni continued preparing for breakfast but she was throwing a tantrum while doing so.
At talaga namang sasama s'ya ha! She said while beating the eggs aggressively.
Sayo lang ako. Sayong-sayo lang. Leni mimicking Risa.
May paganon-ganon pa pero isang yayaan lang, sasama naman! Alam naman niyang naaasar na ako. Nananadya ba siya?!
After Leni finished cooking, she also prepared the table but the way she put the plates and mugs was too loud that they would almost break.
"Dahan-dahan naman, Pangga." Risa said as she went out from the bedroom.
"Oh. Bakit hindi ka pa nakaligo?" Leni asked sarcastically.
"Nag-ayos muna ako ng mga gamit."
"O siya. Kumain ka na."
"Kumain ka na rin. Baka malate tayo."
"Anong tayo?" Leni asked confusedly.
"Sabi ko kay Lucy, sasama ako basta kasama kita. And she happily said, yes. She's excited pa nga, e. Don't worry. Naayos ko na din mga gamit mo." and she wiggled her eyebrows.
"Tell me you are joking, Ana Theresia."
"No. I am serious mada'am Maria Leonor. So let's eat. They will pick us up daw at 7am. Oh. Tinawagan ko din pala si Rona. Sabi ko gusto ko siyang isama. She will meet us downstairs."
"Risa! No. Malalaman nilang magkasama tayo sa iisang bahay! At bakit naman kasama pa si Rona? Imbes pahinga din nung tao."
"Pangga. Malamang sinabi ko pong pupuntahan kita para sabay na nila tayong masundo. And don't tell me na hindi ka sanay sa hiking-hiking na yan kasi kung saan-saan ka na nakarating noh. And it would be more fun with Rona. Wala lang. Namiss ko din siyang kasama."
"Namiss kasama. Sabihin mo, para may kakampi ka. Ayoko. Nakakapagod masyado. Kung gusto mo makita at makasama si Lucy, h'wag mo na ako idamay."
Risa stood up and hugged Leni from her side.
"Ang cute mo pala magselos noh, Pangga."
Leni gave Risa a deadly stare.
"They are already expecting us. Knowing vice president Leni, nahihiya yon magcancel. Nagcacancel lang yon kapag may emergencies talaga."
"Sa sobrang alam mo na ng mga galaw ko, hindi na ako natutuwa."
"Well, I guess I won again, my VP?" and Risa stuck out her tongue.
"May araw ka rin, senator Risa. Sinasabi ko sa'yo, hindi lang talaga tulak aabutin mo saakin."
Risa kissed Leni's forehead.
"Kain na tayo. H'wag masyadong mainitin ang ulo. Nakakapangit yon." Risa teased.
Leni rolled her eyes.
At exactly 7am, Risa received a call from Lucy telling they are already downstairs waiting for them. Risa and Leni went down immediately.
"Pangga, smile naman dyan." Risa said while they were in the elevator.
"Tigilan mo ako, Ana Theresia. Walang nakakatuwa. Ikaw ang yabang-yabang mo. H'wag kang magrereklamo kapag hindi mo kayanin mamaya ha!"
"Opo. Hindi ako magrereklamo. Smile kana, please. Baka sabihin niyan ni Lucy, mataray ka."
"Baka sabihin ni Lucy... Nyenye!" Leni mimicking Risa.
Risa chuckled and kissed Leni's hand.
"Selosa." Risa whispered on Leni's ear.
"Praning." Leni answered back and both of them chuckled.
They saw Rona waiting for them when the elevator opened.
"Good morning mga mada'am. So, may natulog ba sa sofa?" she chuckled.
"Umagang-umaga Rona, ha." Leni.
"Chika ko nalang sa'yo mamaya yung nangyare." Risa teased.
Lucy immediately hugged them when she saw them going out from the building.
"Mada'am vice president, I am so glad po na makakasama ka din namin today." Lucy expressed.
"Si Risa lang----"
"Hindi talaga ako neto matiis ni mada'am VP. Malakas ako dito, e." Risa cutting Leni.
"That's great. I think no one can really say no to your charm, sen." Lucy.
Risa laughed awkwardly as she saw Leni's eyes turned darker.
"Anyway, let's go?" Lucy invited.
Rona, Risa and Leni got inside the van and settled themselves.
"San pala tayo, Lucy?"
"Benguet. On the way na sila Richard. We are also going to meet some locals there. Saktong-sakto, kasama natin si VP."
"Oh. So political agenda pala 'to?" Leni asked abruptly.
Risa piched her leg softly.
"Ah. Hindi naman po VP. We do this talaga once a year. Nagkataon lang din na we met them the first time kami pumunta, kaya kapag babalik kami, may dala na rin kaming kahit anong makakatulong po sakanila." Lucy explained.
Risa held Leni's hand and whispered, "Pangga, please?"
"Yung kamay mo, pakialis. Hindi lang tayo ang nandito sa loob ng sasakyan." Leni whispered back but Risa held it tighter.
"E di let them know na I am yours na. Para hindi na magselos yang grumpy baby na yan."
Leni tried her best not to smile.
"Ewan ko sa'yo, Risa."
Both of them fell asleep while they were on their way.
When they reached the place, Lucy gently woke up the two.
"Lipat na po tayo ng sasakyan paakyat."
Risa and Leni noticed they were still holding hands. Leni immediately removed her hand but Risa grabbed it again.
"Mine. Bawal bumitaw."
Rona faked a cough.
"Smooth nun sen, ha."
Risa then pulled Leni to transfer to a heavy duty car. Richard immediately greeted them when they went out from the van.
They all rode heavy duty cars for the first half and started to walk after.
"Ga'no ba kalayo, Lucy?" Risa asked.
"Mahigit 2hrs nalang sen from here. Kaya ba?" Lucy chuckled.
"Mukhang hindi naman gaano kasteep. Tsaka andito na tayo, wala na akong choice." then Risa chuckled nervously.
"Ayan. Kayanin mo. Walang magbubuhat sa'yo dito." Leni whispered.
Leni, even a little annoyed, would still always held Risa's hand or waist every time there would be a difficult path that they needed to go through.
They were already 30 minutes walking when suddenly Risa screamed. All of them, especially Leni and Lucy were worried.
"What happened? Are you okay?" Leni and Lucy asked at the same time.
"The-there's a leech on my ankle!!!"
Lucy immediately stepped back when she saw the leech on Risa's ankle. But Leni, she sat down.
"Calm down, Ris. May lighter ba kayo?" Leni.
"Uy, ano gagawin mo?" Risa panicked.
"Aalisin yang linta."
Richard gave a lighter to Leni.
"Wait. Wait. Wait. Baka ako maapoyan mo."
"Calm down.. I won't hurt you, okay?" Leni said while looking straight to Risa's eyes.
Leni grabbed Risa's hand and put it on her shoulder.
"Close your eyes nalang. Trust me, okay?"
Risa nodded and closed her eyes. Her nails were buried on Leni's shoulder because of the fear she was feeling but Leni didn't mind. Leni proceeded on removing the leech from Risa's ankle.
Richard shouldered Lucy.
"Totoo ata talaga yung kanila noh? Tingnan mo. They really have this kind of chemistry. Alam mo ba Chard, kanina nakatulog sila sa van na nakaholding hands." Lucy said as they watched Leni and Risa.
"VP Leni is really something." Richard.
"Kinikilig ako imbes magworry for Risa." Lucy.
"Hindi pa ba naaalis, Pangga?" Risa asked.
"Eto na." Leni.
"Did you hear it? Pangga daw. Oh my god!" Lucy said while blushing.
"Okay na. Let me put some alcohol, okay? Para malinisan."
Risa nodded.
"Put your foot here." Leni said as she offered her bended knee.
Leni slowly put some alcohol and blew it gently.
"Mahapdi ba?" she asked.
"Mm-mm.."
Then Leni continued to blow and wiped the blood by a clean towel.
"It's okay now, love. Are you okay? Marami talagang mga linta. Dapat nagmedyas ka pala ng mas mahaba pa."
"Takot na ako magpatuloy. Uwi na tayo.."
"Ayan. Sinabi na kasi kanina. Ay nako. Anyway, it's okay. Andito naman ako. Kapag merong dumikit ulit sa'yo, e di alisin ko ulit."
"Tara na lovebirds. Marami-raming lintaan, ay este daan pa tayong tatahakin." Lucy teased.
"Ayan kasi. You called me Pangga kanina." Leni whispered.
"You called me love din kaya kanina."
All of them continued to walk but now, Leni became more conscious for Risa.
"Ang pogi mo dun mada'am, ha. Si mada'am Lucy kanina pa sainyo kinikilig." Rona said.
Halfway, they all decided to take a rest and eat their late lunch. Lucy and Richard gave them food they prepared and all of them ate and had some ramdom talks while eating.
While eating, Leni unconsciously showed act of service for Risa. She would put food on her plate or would remove small fish bones before giving them to Risa.
"Kaya pala ako laging natitinik ng isda kasi kailangan pala ng partner kapag kakain." Rona joked.
Lucy and Richard's group laughed hearing what Rona said.
Leni and Risa felt shy.
"Hala, 'ga. Yung vitamins ko hindi ko pala nalagay sa bag." Risa said.
"Nalagay ko po. Syempre alam kong may mga makakalimutan ka kaya I double checked the bags."
"Really? The best ka talaga." Risa said happily.
Lucy softly chuckled seeing the sweeteness of the two.
After eating, they continued walking and they reached the site around 3pm in the afternoon. The men among their group settled the area while the four women sat to rest.
"Mamayang around 5pm, maglalakad ulit tayo, ha. Pero konting konti lang. May site dito na mini tribe. Doon natin mamimeet yung mga locals." Lucy said.
"May ibang tao ba tayong makakasama?" Leni asked.
"Wala po mada'am. Tayo-tayo lang ulit. Masaya dun. Every time pumupunta kami, nagsasayawan at nagkakantahan kami. Tapos pinaghahandaan din nila kami ng mga pagkain. If you are worrying about people seeing you, they are modernized na pero kapag andun sa site, bawal sa kanila yung gadgets. So don't worry. Walang cameras. Kami nga nakailang ulit nang punta dito pero walang lumalabas sa press. And they have to keep the integrity of their tribe din naman so safe po dun. So you are both free sen and mada'am VP."
Leni awkwardly smiled. Risa held her hand.
"I honestly thought hindi talaga totoo yung inyo. But I am happy to see na it's real. You look cute and very happy together mga mada'am." Lucy said before standing up to help the men.
Risa leaned her head to Leni's shoulder as soon as Lucy left.
"Narinig mo yun, Pangga? We look cute and very happy daw together. See? Kaya ikaw, ha. H'wag na magjelly-jelly."
Then Risa planted small kisses on Leni's left cheek. Leni pinched her leg softly.
"Hindi ibig sabihin na alam na nila e magiging clingy ka na diyan. Nakakahiya. Sabihin ang landi-landi nating dalawa. Behave."
"E sa malandi naman po talaga kayo mga mada'am." Rona said.
Leni gave Rona a deadly stare.
"Ay char. Sabi ko nga ho, tutulong nalang po ako sa kanila." and she stood up and left the two.
Risa chuckled.
Around 5pm, they started to walk again. They only walked for around 20 minutes and they reached the site of the locals. The locals happily welcomed them and they were more happy to see Senator Risa and VP Leni. They introduced themselves and Leni had a talk with the leader about some things about the tribe. Around 7pm, they feasted the dinner the tribe prepared for them. They were all eating with bare hands and all of them were enjoying it.
"Pangga, try this. It's good. Say 'aah'"
Leni opened her mouth as well without any hesitations.
"Lord, kung alam ko lang po na yung aabutan ko ditong tanawin ay ganito, sana hindi mo nalang po binigyan ng idea si sen Risa na isama ako." Rona said with matching closed eyes.
Lucy and Richard bursted laughing.
"Mada'am, iba po ba yung lasa ng galing sa kamay ni sen sa kung ikaw po mismo dadampot ng pagkain?" Rona asked Leni.
"Iba talaga yun, Rona." Lucy answered giggling.
Leni and Risa felt shy again.
After they ate, the tribe started to play songs. At first, they played ethnic songs and little by little, they started to play OPM songs for them to jam.
Lucy and Richard started to dance together as love songs were playing.
"Mga mada'am, tara na kayo dito." Lucy invited.
Leni just shook her head, feeling shy to dance.
"Okay lang. Dito nalang muna kami." Risa answered.
Leni and Risa enjoyed watching the tribe and the couple dancing while both of them were singing with the songs..
After some time, the songs got hyped. They were playing OPM pop songs with a taste of ethnic sound. Lucy and Richard also got hyped and continued dancing.
"Hala, 'ga. Sayaw tayo. Ang saya!"
"Ha? Nako. Nakakahiya."
"Nahiya ka pa. E saating dalawa mas hamak na mas marunong ka namang sumayaw. Tara na." and Risa pulled Leni. Leni pulled Rona as well to join them.
The tribe was playing "Sumayaw Sumunod" and all of them were singing with it while dancing.
"Ang kasiyahan ng tunay na pagmamahalan.." Risa singing the first part of the song.
"Ay mararamdaman lalo na't kung nagsasayawan..." Leni.
"Awiting bago ay naghihintay para isayaw mo.." Risa.
"Awiting bago ay naghihintay upang isayaw mo.." Leni.
"Sumayaw, sumunod ka sa indak ng panahon
Kasabay ng mga bagong tugtugin ngayon...
Sumayaw, sumunod ka sa indak ng panahon
Makisama, mag-enjoy ka, ngayon...." both of them sang in chorus while dancing.
Both of them were drifted away by the joy they were feeling while dancing. Their giggles and laughs harmonized with the songs. Their eyes were full of delight and contentment.
After almost 2 hours of jamming together, the group bid their goodbyes from the tribe.
"Maraming-maraming salamat. Babalik po ako dito. Ang saya-saya pala dito." Leni said to the tribe's leader.
"Masayang-masaya rin ho kaming nakapunta po kayo. Hihintayin po namin ang pagbalik niyo mada'am vice president."
The group started to walk going back to the camp site with all smiles. All of them talked about how they enjoyed the stay.
When they reached the site, all of them fixed their tents and beddings. After, Leni invited Risa and Rona for a tea. They all sat and watched the sky full of stars.
"Naiinis pa ako kanina pero grabe. Ang saya-saya pala dito. Buti nalang niyaya ka ni Lucy, love."
"Eses. Buti nalang talaga at pasaway din ako." and she chuckled.
"Eto ngang si Rona, e. Hulos na hulos na ng pawis pero go lang."
Then all of them laughed softly.
"Nga pala. May sasabihin ako sayo sen Risa." Rona.
"Hmmm?" Risa.
"Alam niyo po bang takot na takot si mada'am sa linta?"
"Hoy! Walang laglagan, Rona!" Leni exclaimed.
"Hala! Totoo ba, Pangga?"
Leni covered her face with her two hands.
"Totoo, sen. Kaya nga kapag may mga lakad kaming ganito, lagi siyang nakabota or kaya nakamedyas ng napakahaba at napakakapal."
"Omg. Pero ikaw yung nagtanggal ng linta saakin kanina. Ni hindi ko man lang nakita na takot ka, 'ga."
"Kasi nga po, pag dating sa'yo, nakakalimutan niya kung sino siya." and Rona laughed.
"Rona, trabaho o mananahimik ka?"
"Sabi ko nga po papasok na ako sa tent ko. Baka sa Lunes wala na akong madatnang trabaho."
Leni and Risa were left.
"Seryoso talaga, Pangga?"
"Oo. Sino ba naman hindi takot sa linta."
"Omg ka. E bakit ikaw yung umalis kanina?"
"Hindi ko din alam. Kumusa lang katawan kong alisin. Imbes matakot ako, nabahala ako kasi takot na takot ka. Yung takot na dapat madama ko, kinuha mo na lahat."
Risa slapped Leni's arm softly.
"Loko. Pero thank you, Pangga."
"Ano ka ba. Anything for you, love."
Risa then rested her head on Leni's shoulder. They stayed like that for quite some time until Leni felt Risa fell asleep.
Leni kissed Risa's head, held her hand and inhaled deeply.
"I love you.. God! I love you so much. I should have said it a million times, I really should have. I was so afraid of you leaving me. Coz I know we both know that I am not easy. I know I'm not." Leni paused to control herself from crying.
"You're one of the best things that ever happened to me. And I don't want to live without you. Thank you. Thank you for everything, Risa."
Leni got shocked when Risa held her hand tighter.
"I wish you could see yourself the way I see you, Pangga." Risa said softly.
"You always said you are difficult to love. But my Leni, loving you is and will be the best part of my life. For you, I'd do it a thousand times over."
