▶ Why Don't We Go There ~ One Direction
Of course he owns a freaking Porsche.
Jungkook looked around at the sleek leather interiors, feeling his inner kid jump in joy. He loved cars. It was an automatic, so Taehyung was sitting back, relaxed. One Direction was playing on the radio.
Jungkook sang along softly.
"Didn't think you'd be a Directioner."
"I am a man of many genres."
"Even Jazz?"
"Ew no, what? Only old people listen to jazz."
Taehyung gave him a side eye.
"You like Jazz?! What? That's it, I'm definitely calling you Granny Old Pants now!"
"What's wrong with that! A good sax solo is unparalleled!"
"Ew stop, you're gonna transfer your old pants germs to me!"
Taehyung rolled his eyes. He parked outside a familiar building. Jungkook realised they were making their way to the cafe where Jimin works.
He wasn't going to hear the end of this.
Jimin was gonna brag about how he set them up and how Jungkook could finally fall in love with someone. Jimin could be a real old hag sometimes.
"Good morning, what can I get - oh my god, Kim Taehyung?!" Jimin gasped.
So he did know Taehyung. Jungkook was right, he was far more famous than he let on. Jimin rarely reacted like that, it was clear he liked this guy.
"Welcome to Caffeine! It's great to have you here!" he said cheerfully, getting over his initial shock until his eyes landed on Jungkook.
"Kook?! What the f- are you doing with him?!"
Taehyung looked amusedly at the wide eyed barista.
"Aren't you the guy who was at his place last week?" he asked, grinning. "It sounded like you both had a lot of fun in the shower."
Jimin went red like a beetroot.
"What? Aren't you a thing?" Tae asked Jimin, making the cute male look at the floor.
"That masked person was you?! Oh god!"
For some reason, being here with Tae made Jungkook feel like he was cheating on Jimin, when they weren't even together in the first place. He didn't know how to clarify their situation without embarrassing himself or Jimin more. After all Jimin had kissed him in front of Tae.
God, he knew it'd be awkward but he didn't think Taehyung would be the one to make it so.
"I'd like a hot chocolate please and a breakfast wrap. Ditch the onions. One muffin please," Taehyung said easily, ignoring the tension.
"An espresso and a chicken sandwich for me," Jungkook said.
Jimin wiggled his brows, winking behind Taehyung's back as they walked to a table on the patio outside. Jungkook stuck up his middle finger, rolling his eyes.
Tae pulled out a chair for him, before seating himself. Jungkook's heart warmed at that.
"Nice day, huh?" Taehyung asked, leaning back on the chair, looking exquisite even in a plain white tshirt and blue jeans.
It really was a beautiful morning, crisp clear and not too hot. Perfect late summer weather.
"Yeah, nice day," Jungkook agreed.
"I have a shoot in the afternoon. If you're free, drive me there?"
"I am not your fucking chauffeur!"
Jungkook didn't have plans but he would much rather finish his pending paper. Or would he? His own heart mocked him. Would he really want to spend such a nice day buried in research, when he had a hot guy wanting to take him places?Eventually his brain caught up.
"I know but we have a deal. Don't tell me you're gonna bail on that already?"
Of course he wasn't going to refuse but he liked that Taehyung was trying to convince him. He probably never had to do that before. People probably obeyed his whim and command. Jungkook pretended to think, enjoying the sandwich.
Taehyung seemed determined to get him along.
"Also you'd get to drive the Porsche. I'm not saying wait around the whole time. You can go wherever you want with the car, maybe even take your boytoy on a lunch date?"
"That's Jimin, my friend, not a boy toy!" Jungkook snapped immediately.
"Your friend who you fuck?" Tae teased, drinking water.
"Ah, uh, - well, yeah... but he's not a toy!"
"Okay okay! I shan't call him that. Fuck buddy then?" Taehyung threw his hands up, laughing. He knew he was getting under the younger's skin. He seemed to have a soft spot for the barista and was in denial of his feelings.
"Just call him Jimin. And we're not dating either."
"I know. You mentioned that last time I was at your place. I'm just pulling your leg."
Jungkook didn't get why he was riled up easily, or why he felt like he had to explain his relationship to Taehyung. He has known the guy less than a day!
"So, you're coming right? It's a Saturday and I'm sure you don't have any classes today. It's an outdoor shoot, we're going to the riverside. Get Jimin along if you want."
"Only if you invite Yoongi," Jungkook said suddenly, a plan forming in his head.
"Eh?"
"I'll do anything you say, even give you a foot massage after your shoot, but invite Yoongi."
Taehyung raised a brow, studying the buff younger guy. He couldn't possibly decline the big doe eyes that shined like they carried the universe's stars in them. There was no way he would refuse, especially not when Jungkook pouted.
Those red lips are tempting.
Taehyung was taken aback at his own thoughts. Why did he think of a stranger's lips?! A stranger who is a guy?!
I must still be drunk.
"Fine. But only if you promise that foot massage!" Taehyung gave in, curious to know what the guy was thinking.
Jungkook smiled wide, revealing bunny teeth. It completed the whole image of the most adorable person Taehyung had ever seen. He just wanted to squish his cheeks.
What the hell am I thinking?
Flustered by his own thoughts, he focused on the hot chocolate which the waiter had placed in front of them. The raven cradled his espresso in his hands.
"Do you not like coffee?" he asked.
Taehyung nodded.
"It's too bitter. I like watching people make it, especially latte art but I prefer sweet things. I also don't like spicy food."
Jungkook realised that was the first thing he spoke about himself. He made a mental note of it.
"What? But it's the best kind of food!"
"Hm no, I have a weak stomach."
"Oh okay. Jimin and I love it. We usually order in and have a competition over who can eat the spiciest wings. I always win!"
"You can keep that win for yourself." Taehyung snickered. "How did you two meet?"
"Ah well, Jimin is a dancer. His professor at SNU is my cousin's best friend. We met through him actually."
"Eh, that's new. You hang out with your professors?"
"Well, he's Jimin's professor. To me, he's a brother. Eventually he accepted Jimin as his sort of brother too. He doesn't know our... er.. situationship."
"And Yoongi?"
"That was a coincidence. Yoongi used to be sort of hotheaded. During our second year, he unintentionally got into a fight on campus. I helped him beat up some guys who I had something against too. Later I acted as an alibi for Yoongi. That's how we became friends."
"What? I didn't think Yoongi was such a troublemaker, he acts like a saint!"
"That's because he looks up to you, admires you probably. I noticed it last night at the party."
Taehyung smiled at that, biting into his wrap. He pouted while chewing and Jungkook almost awwed again. Clearly he wasn't immune to the model's charms at all.
"Fine, I'll bring him along."
Jungkook cheered.
"Why are you so eager to have him there?"
"If I tell you, will you help?"
"Eh?"
"You see, Jimin is hooking up with me to distract himself from the fact that he is in love with Yoongi. He thinks he's out of his league."
Taehyung blinked. He hadn't expected that over everything. He wondered how either of the friends hadn't caught feelings for each other yet.
"So you wanna play cupid?"
"Yeah. I mean Jimin won't listen if I tell him to spend the day at the riverside with Yoongi. So maybe you can make up some excuse so that I have to tag along with you and they both are forced to be alone."
"That's not hard. But do you think Yoongi likes him?"
"I think he might. When we hang out together, he always gravitates towards Chim naturally. Jimin just needs some courage."
"What? With a face like that, he can land anybody he wants and you're saying he's insecure?"
"Taehyung. It's always hard to be confident around someone you really like. Haven't you felt like that?"
It was silent for a while, just them eating. Jungkook wondered if he should have avoided the question. They finished their food and Taehyung paid for it.
Jimin was surprised to get Taehyung's invite. He had a half shift luckily and was able to leave soon. He said he'd meet them at their apartment.
Taehyung was quiet until they reached his car. Jungkook felt like he had ruined the somewhat nice rapport they had established and was berating himself until Tae spoke.
"You know, the butterflies only happen if it's infatuation."
Jungkook's head snapped to him. Taehyung started the car and turned the radio down.
"Love, makes you feel calm and centered. It feels like coming home after a long day. That's what love should feel like."
Jungkook merely nodded, surprised and intrigued.
"But I'm not saying Jimin doesn't love him, don't look so glum!"
"I'm not... glum. I'm just... that take on love is nice. But the initial attraction is always butterflies and unicorns."
"Have you been in love?"
"Well, no. I had crushes. I had a relationship in highschool but she broke it off because she was moving away. I've never really felt a need of attachment, or of wanting someone at my side. I guess I don't know what romantic love feels like."
"She? So you're bisexual?"
"Yeah."
It was quiet afterwards till they reached their apartment. Jungkook wondered what the other was thinking.
They got out, Taehyung locked the car and tossed the keys to Jungkook who caught them at the very last second.
"The hell?"
"Nice reflexes!" Taehyung chuckled. "We can leave in an hour. See you here, you're driving."
"Fuck yes! Thanks, Granny Old Pants!"
"Fuck off, uh - uh -"
"See? You can't even think of an insult" Jungkook laughed, running his fingers through his hair. "I know I look perfect."
"You do."
Both of them stopped laughing. Taehyung blushed.
"So you agree? You think I look good?" Jungkook smirked.
Internally, he was screaming. What in hell, were the odds that an actual runway model, thought he, Jungkook, an ordinary guy, looked perfect?! Taehyung was probably still drunk.
"Shut up, Coconut Head!" Taehyung grumbled.
The smile fell off Jungkook's face.
"What? My head is a nice shape!"
"Yeah like a coconut. Goodbye, Coconut Head."
Taehyung turned to walk off, thoroughly embarrassed. He admitted to thinking his neighbour, a guy - looking perfect. And he was sure it hadn't come out platonically or just as an observation. He had fucking gazed at the ravenette while saying that.
That was definitely a first for Taehyung. He hadn't been this flustered around anyone in a very long time.
"Hey Granny Pants, we're supposed to be going in the same building!" Jungkook called.
Taehyung snapped out of his thoughts. Realising he was going the wrong way, he blushed and followed him in the elevator.
They both looked at each other and burst into laughter. Taehyung hit Jungkook's arm.
"Shut up, slave!"
"Okay, Master TaeTae!" Jungkook bowed.
"Dumb coconut. Wear something nice!" He reminded Jungkook as he stepped out on his floor.
Jungkook nodded and the elevator closed as he smiled to himself. Taehyung wasn't so bad. He seemed a bit entitled but not insufferable, as models seem to be.
He was looking forward to the day.
