Hello everyone! I'm so excited to write this chapter, as it's one of the ones I've been the most anxious to write. The main focus of this chapter will be taking inspiration from a certain episode from XY&Z, which you might know. I've decided to write one more chapter after this one before the next major arc happens. I'll end this opening A/N with this: "Let's get much much stronger!"
Serena opened her eyes, only to see nothing but blackness. She looked around in confusion and for any signs of life.
"Hello? Is anyone here?"
Suddenly she heard a weird sound, followed by wavy red lines flying by her. She turned to see the red lines being absorbed into a figure. Serena got closer to try to make it out. As more red lines got absorbed, the figure started to light up. Serena slowly began to make out the figure. Her eyes widened.
"....Delphox?"
The figure reached its hand out, Serena doing the same. When the tips of their fingers made contact, flashes erupted, images of a slightly different Delphox and a red x shaped object, followed by Delphox fire slashing with her stick. Serena let out a gasp as she shot her head up while breathing heavily. She looked around again, only to see she was in the loft where her and Ash sleep. It was still dark outside, but Serena guessed sunrise was going to be soon. She sighed.
'Just a dream...'
She slowly laid back down, getting closer to Ash, who was still sleeping. Within minutes Serena fell back asleep. A few hours later Serena woke up again, this time the sun was up and slowly rising higher in the sky. She started to move but quickly realized she was being held by a still sleeping Ash. Serena giggled at this. She gave him a kiss on the lips, which caused Ash to open his eyes.
"Morning Ashy~" Serena said affectionately.
"G-Good Morning Serena" Ash said with a light blush.
Serena giggled again. That nickname always makes Ash blush, which Serena finds cute. The two got out of bed and got ready for the day. The two joined Kukui and Burnet at the table for breakfast. Surprisingly, Kukui made breakfast this time, which consisted of Kalosian Toast (Pokemon version of French Toast) with Maple Sirup with a side of mini Malasada's. Ash and Serena grew excited at the food in front of them. Everyone dug in and ate till they were all full.
"That was delicious Professor Kukui" Ash said. Serena just nodded as she still had food in her mouth.
Kukui rubbed the back of his head. "Thank you Ash, Burnet taught me everything she knows."
Ash turned to Burnet. "Professor Burnet, could you possibly teach me how to cook too?"
Burnet was surprised to be asked that, but didn't hesitate to answer. "Of course Ash, I'd love to."
After breakfast was over, the family headed outside to enjoy some sun. Passimian was sparring with Dartrix while Lycanroc was sparring with Silvally. Ash gave each a command.
"Passimian use Rock Tomb! Dartrix use Razor Leaf!" He turned to the next group. "Lycanroc use Accelerock! Silvally use Air Slash!" The Pokémon fired off their attacks at their partners.
Kukui and Burnet watched Ash train with smiles on their faces. Greninja had taken his spot on the hammock and listened to his music. Pikachu and Sylveon were off to the side, in the midst of a practice battle. Pikachu jumped into the air, Sylveon charging a Moonblast. She fired it but Pikachu smacked it away with his tail. Using his new momentum, he redirected his Iron Tail towards Sylveon, who used her feelers to block his attack. She used her feelers to push him away towards the house. Pikachu recovered and used the house as a springboard to power up his Quick Attack. He made a beeline towards Sylveon, who wasn't fast enough to dodge in time. In desperation, she powered up another Moonblast and launched it towards him. Pikachu responded with a spin dash and dodged the attack, and hit Sylveon with his Quick Attack. The two decided to stop.
"Man, you're tough babe. No wonder you and Ash won the Kalos League" Sylveon said.
Pikachu chuckled. "Well I do have some battling experience under my fur."
Sylveon giggled. "That's true. By the way, where'd you learn that spin dash move?"
"Me and Ash came up with it when we traveled through Sinnoh. It helped us out a lot in gym battles."
"Could you possibly teach it to me?" Sylveon asked.
"Of course I will!"
Sylveon smiled and kissed him. Pikachu started to explain the process to her.
Meanwhile Pancham and Brionne were working on a move combo the two thought up.
"Alright, you ready?" Pancham asked. Brionne nodded.
Brionne produced some bubbles from her noise and made them float into the air. Pancham jumped up and bounced on them, performing front flips. He ended by jumping high into the air and shot out a barrage of Dark Pulses at all the bubbles, causing them to explode with blue and purple sparkles raining down. Brionne caught Pancham with her flipper and the two struck a pose.
Serena was watching this and was greatly impressed by the two's performance. She applauded them and said it was amazing, Vulpix sharing that opinion. Delphox had been off to the side, laying down on a beach towel and had sunglasses covering her eyes, her stick in her arms. All in all, everyone was having a great day.
Off in the distance a woman had been walking, trying to avoid anyone who might recognize her. She had on her disguise but knew some people started to notice it was still her. She sighed.
"I just wanted to relax here in peace, I didn't think people in Alola would even know who I am."
She continued to walk until she reached the shoreline. She admired the view and smiled in amazement. She suddenly heard noises and looked over to see a group of people and Pokémon hanging out together. She decided to go over and ask where she was, as she was a little lost. She approached the group, first coming into contact with Delphox. Delphox realized someone was there and raised her head up and lifted her sunglasses up. She scanned the woman. She had pink hair, a white hat and black framed glasses. After a few seconds of staring, Delphox went wide eyed and threw her hands in the air. She failed to realize she had also accidentally thrown her stick into the air, said stick flying towards the house and landing on the head of a certain blue frog.
The resulting sudden yelp alerted everyone else. They all turned to see the pink haired woman in front of Delphox. Serena ran up to her partner.
"Delphox are you alright?" Serena looked up at the woman. She looked...familiar. The two stared at each other, until they both had looks of realization.
"Serena?!"
"Aria?!"
The two then embraced each other.
"Oh my goodness it's so great to see you!" Aria said.
"Same here! I didn't know you'd be here!" Serena said.
"Palermo told me to take a vacation, so I booked a flight to Alola and, well, here I am!"
The others soon joined the two girls.
"Hey Aria" Ash said with a smile.
Aria turned to face Ash. "Hey Ash, I didn't think you'd be here too. Oh! And congrats on winning the Kalos League."
"Thanks" Ash said.
Aria looked at the two back and forth. "Wait...if both of you are here, then..." She suddenly grew excited. "Are you guys finally a couple?!"
Ash and Serena blushed in embarrassment.
"Y-Yeah we are" Serena said.
Aria squealed and hugged Serena, one she happily accepted. Once they separated Serena introduced Aria to the others.
"This is Aria, she the Kalos Region's Kalos Queen."
"Pleasure to met you, I'm Professor Kukui, the Regional Professor of Alola, and this is my wife Professor Burnet."
"Nice to meet you" Burnet said.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all as well" Aria said with a smile.
"Hey Aria, why don't you come join us?" Serena offered.
"I'd like that Serena" Aria said.
Serena led Aria back towards the group. Aria let out her Pokémon to relax. All was going well until one of Aria's Pokémon approached Delphox. The two stared at each other. Suddenly the Pokémon took a fighting stance. The group turned and noticed them.
Rotom took some pictures and a screen soon appeared.
"Lopunny. The Rabbit Pokémon and the evolved form of Buneary. A Normal Type. An extremely cautious Pokémon, it cloaks its body with its fluffy ear fur when it senses danger."
Upon hearing the name, Sylveon immediately disliked it.
"I didn't know you had a Lopunny Aria" Serena said.
"She never really liked being in front of the cameras as much as Delphox and Aromatisse did, plus she likes to incorporate battling into her performances. That's why I've been practicing battling in addiction to performing" Aria explained.
Serena was surprised. "Really? I'm doing that with Delphox too!"
Aria suddenly got an idea. "Well then how about you and I have a battle then?"
Serena was a little taken aback by this but smiled. "You're on!"
The two made their way to a bigger spot on the beach. Ash and Greninja were watching closely. Something was telling them this battle will be very important for the girls. All of Ash's and Serena's Pokémon cheered Serena and Delphox on. Ash noticed Kukui doing something with Rotom.
"What are you doing Professor?"
"I'm installing a program into Rotom's hardware to scan and monitor Serena's and Delphox's heartbeat. After seeing what Serena and Delphox did to Team Rocket's Pokémon I want to learn more about their power."
"I'll be sure to monitor and collect data-roto!"
"Wow, science is so amazing!" Ash said with excitement.
Back to the battlefield, the two girls prepared themselves.
"Let's do this Delphox!" Serena said pointing her finger towards their opponents.
"Delphox!" Delphox cried.
"Lopunny, let's do our best" Aria said.
"Lopunny."
Burnet decided to be the referee.
"This will be a 1 on 1 battle between Serena and Aria. No time limit and no substitutions. Now then...Battle Start!"
"Delphox use Flamethrower!" Serena ordered. Delphox readied her stick and shot out a beam of flames towards Lopunny.
"Jump" Aria said calmly.
Lopunny jumped in the air in a graceful fashion and dodged the attack.
"Use Jump Kick."
Lopunny landed and jumped again and swung her leg towards Delphox's head.
"Dodge it" Serena said.
Delphox bent her head back, narrowly avoiding the attack. With her back turned Serena acted quickly.
"Power-Up Punch!"
Delphox's fist glowed Orange and she thrusted it towards Lopunny, hitting her back. Lopunny cried out in pain but recovered.
"Dizzy Punch!" Aria yelled.
"Block with Power-Up Punch!" Serena countered.
Lopunny charged towards Delphox and the two engaged in hand to hand combat. After a few more punches the two blew each other backwards towards their respective trainers.
"I must say I'm impressed Serena. You battle really well" Aria said with a smile.
"Well I learned from the best" Serena said, glancing at Ash.
Aria saw this and silently chuckled. "However, me and Lopunny are just getting started" she said as she revealed a necklace containing a Key Stone.
"Now for the grand performance! Lopunny, Mega Evolve!"
Lopunny glowed as she started to transform. Once the light faded, Mega Lopunny emerged. Serena and Delphox were nervous but also excited.
"Use Dizzy Punch!"
Mega Lopunny charged forward, now even faster. Before Delphox could react, Lopunny smacked her with her braided ears. Delphox was blown backwards but managed to stay on her feet.
"Delphox! Are you alright??" Serena called out with concern.
Delphox turned her head and nodded. Serena smiled and nodded. "Then let's keep it going, Power-Up Punch!"
Delphox's fist glowed Orange and ran towards Lopunny. The screen on Rotom suddenly showed Serena's and Delphox's heartbeats starting to move at the same speed.
"Jump and use Shadow Ball" Aria commanded.
Lopunny jumped and shot a Shadow Ball towards Delphox. Serena smirked.
"Catch it with Psychic!"
Delphox's eyes glowed as she reached her hand out. The same glow started to cover the Shadow Ball until it stopped moving.
"Send it back" Serena said with a wave of her arm.
Delphox shot the attack back towards Lopunny, who couldn't dodge it. After the explosion erupted, Lopunny crashed into the ground.
"Nice work Delphox" Serena said.
The heartbeat waves slowly started to join together.
"Now then, let's get even stronger! Together!" Serena said as she and Delphox formed a fist and jerked their heads forward. The two let out a battle cry. A fire veil erupted and encased Delphox in it. Everyone was stunned at the scene. Delphox could barely be seen, but could still be made out.
"What the...what is that?" Aria said.
"This is the power we share, the bond that we both hold so dear" Serena said, making gestures that Delphox copied.
Aria grew excited. "This just got more exciting."
"Fire Slash!"
Delphox ran towards Lopunny and readied two sticks.
"Shadow Ball!" Aria yelled.
Lopunny charged up a Shadow Ball and intercepted Delphox's attack.
"Use Double Team!"
Multiple Mega Lopunny's started to appear. They surrounded Delphox.
"Psychic Burst!" Serena yelled as she readied her fist downwards. Delphox completed the move by slamming her fist into the ground. An explosion of Psychic energy erupted and blew away all the Mega Lopunny copies.
"Shadow Ball!"
Lopunny shot another Shadow Ball towards Delphox.
"Shadow Bomb!" Serena said as she and Delphox readied the attack and launched it. The two attacks collided and a massive explosion erupted.
"Fire Slash!"
Delphox charged in with a fiery stick.
"Dodge it" Aria said while waving her arm.
Lopunny jumped and sidestepped while narrowly avoiding Delphox's attacks. Eventually though, Delphox managed to get a clean hit in, send Lopunny backwards.
Everyone watched in awe at the battle unfolding. Ash kept glancing at Rotom's screen every now and then to make sure they were still okay.
'This is starting to get too familiar...'
'That's what's scaring me...'
"Keep it going! Shadow Bomb!"
Delphox launched another Shadow Bomb, Lopunny barely dodging it.
"Double Team!"
More Mega Lopunny appeared again.
"Use Fire Slash then Shadow Bomb!"
Delphox started making quick work of the copies, Serena copying her movements. The beeping started getting faster and louder.
Ash and Greninja felt the Aura in Serena and Delphox growing stronger.
"Shadow Ball!" Aria commanded with her hand stretched out.
"Max Power-Up Punch!" Serena said while waving her arm fast.
Delphox ran faster, swatting the Shadow Ball away. She suddenly jumped into the air.
Serena squinted her eyes. She closed them, only to open them and widened them as her eyebrows furrowed as she opened her mouth.
"More more power!!!"
"Delphoooooooxxxxx!!!!!!" Delphox yelled as she copied her partner's facial expression.
Delphox's body started to appear inside the veil. Her eyes shot open, revealing Sapphire Blue eyes. She spread her arms wide, ripping the fire veil in two, now exposing her appearance.
Her ear hairs were honey blonde, the top of her head and ears were pink with a big black line covering her forehead. The fur on her stomach area was pink. She had bare black legs, her red fur stopping at her thighs. She had a white vest collar around her front, and a blue ribbon attached to it.

The flames spread behind Delphox to resemble wings. Serena and Delphox saw the image they had in the dream flash in their minds. The fire started to get absorbed into Delphox's back. A bubble was starting to grow bigger until it changed into a glowing x shaped object. Delphox's arms were stretched out throughout this process. Once done, Delphox started to dive down towards Lopunny. Everyone was in utter shock from this. Serena was smiling confidently.
"Delphox! Fire Shuriken!" Serena yelled as she reached behind her back. Delphox threw her Fire Shuriken with all her strength.
"Shadow Ball!" Aria said in desperation.
With all her remaining strength, Lopunny charged up her most powerful Shadow Ball and shot it towards the Fire Shuriken. The two attacks collided but didn't cancel out. Aria let out a gasp in shock.
"Keep going!!!" Serena yelled.
The Fire Shuriken broke through the Shadow Ball struck Lopunny, who tried to block it with her arms, but was ultimately blown backwards and crashed into the ground. Light then erupted around Lopunny, changing back to normal as swirls replaced her eyes.
"Lopunny is unable to battle! Delphox is the winner! The victory goes to Serena!"
Ash and Greninja suddenly felt something heavy overtake them. They looked over and saw the Aura around Serena and Delphox growing erratic.
"Go Delphox!!!!!!!" Serena yelled with the same facial expression.
The beeping got even louder and faster. Kukui was shocked.
"Use Fire Slash!!!!!!"
Something suddenly shot through Serena and Delphox, causing them to get winded and go wide eyed. The beeping slowly returned to normal as the waves separated. Delphox reverted back to normal as she and Serena hit the ground, now unconscious.
"Serena?" Aria asked in concern.
Ash, Greninja and Serena's Pokémon ran towards the two.
"Serena!" Ash yelled.
"Delphox!" Greninja yelled.
"Mommy!!" Vulpix cried.
Ash, Vulpix and Sylveon rushed to Serena's side. Greninja, Pancham, and Brionne rushed to Delphox's side.
Aria rushed towards the two. Kukui and Burnet ran towards the duo as well. Ash set Serena in his lap.
"What just happened??" Aria asked.
"They pushed it too far..." Ash said.
"What do you mean Ash?" Kukui asked.
"Their power and bond was getting too strong to maintain. Back when we were in Kalos, Greninja and I experienced the exact same thing when we battled Diantha" Ash explained.
"So she's going to be ok right?" Burnet asked, almost sounding like begging.
Ash nodded. "She just needs rest. Delphox too."
Ash carried Serena bridal style back to the house, Greninja doing the same for Delphox. The sky was orange when Serena and Delphox started to stir. The two opened their eyes. They both looked around and noticed they were in the living room. They slowly sat up, rubbing their heads.
'What was that...' Serena thought while rubbing her eyes.
'How did we...' Delphox thought as she rubbed her eyes.
The two suddenly shot awake. They looked at each other as the memory came back. They just stated at each other in shock, unable to say a word. Footsteps suddenly erupted.
"Mommy!!" Vulpix cried as she jumped into Serena's arms. Serena immediately hugged her back. More occupants started to join the room.
"Serena!" Ash yelled as he rushed over and hugged his girlfriend. Greninja rushed over to Delphox and embraced her. Ash pulled apart. "You had me so worried Serena."
"S-Sorry...Ash..." she answered with slight guilt.
Burnet rushed in a hugged Serena tightly. She pulled back but put a firm grip on her shoulders. "How are you feeling sweetie?"
"I'm ok..." Serena said.
Serena's other Pokémon hugged her and then made their way towards Delphox.
"You gave us quite a scare" Kukui said.
"You're vitals are stable now-roto" Rotom said.
The last to appear was Aria. She hugged Serena and softly spoke. "Serena, you're really amazing you know? If I'm being honest, you should've won the Master Class and became Kalos Queen."
Serena's eyes widened as tears started to form. She just hugged her friend tighter, Aria rubbing her back.
A little bit later Aria decided to leave. Kukui and Burnet said she would always be welcome back. Ash and his Pokémon said their goodbyes. Serena and Aria smiled at each other. Aria stretched her hand out.
"Let's continue to do our best Serena."
Serena smiled. She connected her hand with Aria's. "Yeah. And keep that Kalos Queen title warm for me" she said with a confident smile.
Aria smiled. "Don't worry, I will."
They parted hands and waved at each other as Aria left.
Serena remained on the porch, as did Delphox. They just stared at the sea in silence. Suddenly, Serena felt a hand grip hers. She turned to see Ash smiling at her. Delphox felt a webbed hand grip her hand. She turned to see Greninja looking at her. The two smiled at their respective mates. The couples said nothing. They all quietly watched as the sun began to descend into the ocean.
YEAH BABY!!! This was so much fun to write!! Serena-Delphox is finally here! As you're probably aware by now, this chapter was inspired by the XY&Z episode where Ash battles Diantha. I should probably explain the characteristics of Serena-Delphox. So basically, when Delphox is in her Serena-Delphox form, all of Delphox's normal moves become maxed out. Think of it like her having Z-Moves without the ring or Dynamax moves without the band. Also she won't be able to use Fire Shuriken in her normal form, it will only be usable while in the Serena-Delphox form. I plan to write one more chapter before the next major arc starts. So stay tuned for more and Power to the Readers!
