A Mission to Shili | Part 2

Heyo, human beings from outer space!

This was requested by @Princessfifi8. It's pretty self-explanatory: Part 2. So must I mention more?

Read on if you dare.

Garozeb Orrelios had been nervous when he first brought Ahsoka to Lasan. He didn't know if the elders would accept her. Additionally, Zeb didn't know if Ahsoka would be okay with being the only one of her kind.

But when Zeb brought Ahsoka before the elders, they agreed to let her stay. Ahsoka also assured Zeb that she wouldn't mind staying: she was already educated in the culture of her people and she was willing to learn about others.

"Besides," Ahsoka leisurely waved a hand, "no one on Shili will like me coming back."

Since the population of the planet had been infected with a disease, Zeb had been very careful with who he introduced Ahsoka to. He didn't want her getting sick.

Zeb knew of someone who would love to meet Ahsoka and happened to be well. Zeb took Ahsoka to meet Chava the wise.

Now he sat and watched Chava muse over Ahsoka. Chava was absolutely enthralled with the child.

"Brilliant, Captain!" Chava said in her shrill voice. "You are absolutely brilliant for bringing us this wonderful child."

"So, you like her? That's good," Zeb said hesitantly, not knowing what to do next.

"Yes, yes, she is simply fabulous. I will train her in the way of the Ashla, and she will become strong within it. She will be as mannered and powerful as a Jedi, but without their strange morals."

Ahsoka smiled. "I will be powerful?"

"One day, child, you will be the strongest of us all," Chava told Ahsoka.

Great. What had Zeb gotten himself into? Chava was feeding Ahsoka a load of lies, wasn't she? Zeb groaned internally.

Zeb spent the rest of the day with Ahsoka, but by dusk, he left Ahsoka in Chava's hands and set off to fulfil the obligation of a Captain.

🪐🪐🪐

Ahsoka's training began with Chava the Wise right away. She already knew simple things about the Ashla, and she could summon it to do simple things as well.

"Sit here, child," Chava the Wise tapped her staff in the centre of the floor.

Ahsoka wordlessly obeyed.

"Now, close your eyes," Chava said, and Ahsoka complied.

"Focus your mind," Chava ordered. "When your mind is focused, you can do great things. You can lift heavy objects and perform the unthinkable. The Ashla will flow through you at full force when you are focused and open to it."

"But how do I open myself to it, Chava the Wise?" Ahsoka asked, her eyes still closed.

"I cannot summon the Ahsla as you can child, so I cannot explain that to you exactly. But you must focus on it attentively. You must listen to its will and follow its instructions."

Ahsoka focused attentively. She breathed deeply and felt the Ahsla. Time seemed to slow down as she called on the Ashla and listened to its will. She worked through her coiled mind, straightening the kinks in her focus and letting the Ashla flow through her.

It was not an easy job. It took a colossal amount of energy and a heap of time. Two hours, Ahsoka supposed. She finally opened her eyes, feeling more drained than she ever had before.

"Ah, good, you've come back. Tell me, child, how did it go?" Chava the Wise confronted her as soon as she opened her eyes.

"I am open to the Ashla, I think," Ahsoka replied. "How long did it take?"

"You've been in the trance for several hours, child. Four I believe."

"Oh," Ahsoka raised her bow. No longer she felt so tired.

"Captain Orrelios came by an hour ago, but you were in the trance. Perhaps you would like to find him? Your training for today is complete," Chava gestured to the door.

"Yes, Chava the Wise. Thank you," Ahsoka stood, bowed, and scurried out the door.

There weren't many people out on the streets because the population was sick, so Ahsoka didn't feel intimidated. She walked down the street, glancing around for Captain Orrelios.

She found him rather quickly, as he was walking down the street as well.

Captain Orrelios greeted her. "How is your training, kid?"

"Fine, I learned a lot already today," Ahsoka replied.

Captain Orrelios smiled and took her to meet some children she could play with. Ahsoka liked the children. They were kind and playful, but they were twice her size. She couldn't participate in some of their games because she could've gotten hurt and Ahsoka didn't want them to have to accommodate for her.

This led Ahsoka to spend the majority of her time with Chava the Wise in the following days. She didn't mind: Ahsoka enjoyed listening to Chava the Wise's stories and learning about the culture of Lasats.

Ahsoka also enjoyed her time with Captain Orrelios, but he became less and less available, to the point Ahsoka hardly saw him.

As time progressed, Ahsoka learned a lot. She learned hand-to-hand sparring and staff combat techniques from some soldiers. Chava the Wise taught her about culture and legends.

After a year, Ahsoka could've been a Lasat herself. She knew the planet inside out. She knew all the people and became friends with several other Lasat children.

One day, when Ahsoka was nine, Chava the Wise told her that she was ready for her first trial.

"What trial?" Ahsoka asked curiously. "I wasn't aware of a trial."

"It is the way of the Jedi," Chava the Wise explained.

"I thought you said the Jedi's morals were unreasonable," Ahsoka recalled.

"Yes, the morals are, but this is not a rule. This is a step in your path as an Ashla-wielder," Chave the Wise smiled. "Do you recall the times you've been trained in the art of sabre-wielding? The times you've wielded a stick in place of a weapon?"

"Yes, and I also recall my skills with a staff."

"Good, good," Chava leaned on her staff. "Now, you will replace the stick with a real weapon. A lightsaber."

"The weapon of the Jedi," Ahsoka gasped.

And before she knew it, she was packing up her things and heading off to a planet called Ilum to find a lightsaber crystal.

The experience was very eye-opening. Ahsoka learned many things just by hunting for her Kyber crystal. She also learned that she hated the cold.

Captain Orrelios was her chaperone. She didn't see him for a long while after that.

Ahsoka's training progressed. She crafted a lightsaber and wielded it well. Her skills increased and so did her connection to the Force.

Chava the Wise was right all along: by the time Ahsoka was 14, she was the most powerful being on the planet of Lasan.

🪐🪐🪐

"I don't understand why we have to go to this place," Anakin whined, looking out the window. "They aren't in the war and no one even cares."

"Anakin, quit whining like a child. You've been a Jedi Knight for a while now," Obi-Wan scolded. "There is very obviously a strong Force-presence on that planet. We need to go find out who it is and possibly bring them back to the temple for proper training."

"Ugh, fine," Anakin growled, leaning back in his chair.

The ship dropped out of hyperspace and Obi-Wan landed it on the surface of the planet. He lowered the ramp and the Jedi walked down the ramp of the ship.

"Who are you?" a Lasat of the honour guard greeted them.

"I am Jedi general Obi-Wan Kenobi and this is Jedi general Anakin Skywalker," Obi-Wan replied.

"We don't want your war," the Lasat scoffed. "You can go back where you came from."

"We haven't come to ask you to join the Republic. We haven't brought any war, either," Anakin assured the man. "We've simply felt a Force-presence on this planet and we came to investigate."

"I was afraid of this," a shrill voice came from behind the Lasat. An old lady pushed her way past the Lasat man. "I know who you speak of. I will take you to her."

Anakin and Obi-Wan followed the old woman through the streets and into a house. The Lasat honour guard walked just behind the two men, his bo-rifle ready.

"Ahsoka Tano," the Lasat woman called. "There are people here to see you."

A teenage Togruta rounded the corner and stood before the Jedi.

A million questions flashed through Anakin's mind. Why was there a Togruta on Lasan? What was she doing in this household? How is her force presence so strong when she's so young?

"Chava the Wise, who are these humans? I sense the Ashla in them." Ahsoka, presumably, asked.

"These are Jedi: Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. They have felt your presence and want to speak to you about it," Chava the wise said.

"What is there to say?" Ahsoka questioned.

"We believe you are sensitive to the Force," Obi-Wan announced.

"Obviously," Ahsoka crossed her arms. "Oh! Where are my manners? Come, sit, would you like some tea?"

"Oh, yes, thank you," Obi-Wan agreed.

Ahsoka led the men through the house. Anakin got a glimpse of Chava the Wise whispering something to the Lasat honour guard. The honour guard left a minute later.

"I know I am sensitive to the Ashla," Ahsoka said, pouring the men their tea. "That is very much obvious to me."

"So you've had some training?" Obi-Wan stirred his tea.

"I've had lots of training," Ahsoka replied, leaning her chin against her palm and curling her fingers.

"Very well," Obi-Wan hummed. "Since you've already been trained, we would like to offer you a chance to come to the Jedi Temple and become a Jedi."

Anakin expected her face to light up as she oohed and aahed over the idea, but none of this happened. Ahsoka looked at them with the same stony expression.

Obi-Wan raised his brow, getting ready to speak.

"I'm not interested in becoming a Jedi," Ahsoka told them plainly.

Whoah. What a mood killer.

"Oh? And why is that?" Obi-Wan continued.

"This is—"

"Ahsoka!" A large Lasat burst into the room.

"Captaian Orrelios," Ahsoka gasped. She rose rapidly from the table and rushed to him.

"Please, Ahsoka, don't accept their offer," Captain Orrelios begged.

"I'm not going to," Ahsoka assured him. "I haven't seen you in years," she whispered.

Oh, great, Anakin thought. A reunion. This was going to take a while.

"I know, I'm sorry. I wanted to visit more often, but I have my reasons. Just promise me you won't take the offer," Captain Orrelios pleaded.

"I promise."

Ahsoka composed herself and returned to the table.

"So, it is a no?" Obi-Wan raised his brow.

"Yes. This is my home: these are my people. I'm not willing to leave them," Ahsoka bowed her head slightly, a sign of dismissal.

"But you're Togruta..." Anakin frowned.

"Anakin!" Obi-Wan gritted out. "Mind your manners!"

Ahsoka laughed lightly. "It's fine. They aren't my people by blood, but by heart. They raised me and trained me. I owe it to them to stay and protect them."

"You're only a kid..." Anakin pointed out.

"Anakin!"

"I still have much to learn, yes, but I know enough to protect my people. And besides, you are not one to speak, Jedi," Ahsoka replied cooly.

"Wha?" Anakin frowned confusedly. "Why do you say that?"

"You Jedi throw children into the war and make them battle," Ahsoka's eyes turned cold.

"Oh, that," Anakin shrugged. "Talk to Mr. Jedi High Council 'bout that one."

"Anakin!" Obi-Wan groaned.

"If you're ready, I'll see you to the door now," Ahsoka stood, reading Obi-Wan's exasperated expression.

"Yes, thank you," Obi-Wan stood and Anakin did the same.

Ahsoka brought them to the door and took them outside. Obi-Wan stopped to make a final offer.

"Are you sure you won't come back with us?" Obi-Wan prodded.

"Yes."

"You know, if you don't, they'll just send more Jedi to come get you," Anakin warned.

"I'll tell them the same thing I told you," Ahsoka crossed her arms.

"Some Jedi are more persistent," Anakin challenged.

"Then I'll tell them off," Ahsoka challenged.

"Some won't let you."

"Then I'll fight them off and tell them not to return," Ahsoka took a defensive pose for show.

"Okay, say you lose? Then what?" Anakin narrowed his eyes.

"Jedi don't want weak children," Ahsoka reasoned. "They will get the point and go."

"Let's try it," Anakin challenged. "Fight me now."

Obi-Wan groaned "No, Anakin—"

"Fine," Ahsoka cut him off.

Before Obi-Wan could intervene, Anakin charged Ahsoka. He ignited his lightsaber and swung. Just as he did so, Ahsoka stepped out of the way and Anakin staggered past.

"All Jedi carry lightsabers. You'll have to face them," Anakin warned.

"Fine," Ahsoka repeated. "I can do that."

Anakin charged her again and again. Each time she dodged him. Finally, he went in for a more deadly attack that was harder to dodge.

When his lightsaber was only a meter from her, Ahsoka suddenly whipped something out and blocked his attack. Anakin was taken off guard as he gaped at the glowing green lightsaber. A lightsaber!

The next few minutes passed in a bur. But before Anakin knew it, he was on the ground with a green lightsaber pointed at his neck.

"Yield," Ahsoka ordered.

"Ugh. I yield," Anakin muttered.

Ahsoka deactivated her lightsaber and clipped it onto her belt. She smirked at him.

"I was going easy on you," Anakin snapped, seeing the look in her eyes.

"Suuuuure you were, Skyguy," Ahsoka rolled her eyes.

"Hey! Don't get snippy with me, kid," Anakin warned.

"This kid just beat you," Ahsoka stuck her tongue out at him. "Now, I've made my decision and it's to stay here. So you can stop wasting your time and go."

And with that, Anakin and Obi-Wan trudged back to their ship.

🪐🪐🪐

Ahsoka watched the Jedi go. When she turned around, Captain Orrelios was watching her.

"Captain!" Ahsoka rushed to him and threw herself into a hug. "You came to see me."

"Yeah, yeah kid," Captain Orrelios said. "And I have something for you."

"Oh?" Ahsoka pulled away and looked at him.

Captain Orrelios produced a bo-rifle from behind his back and it wasn't his. "We've been watching you for a while, and we've decided to ask you to become an honour guard. I think it's pretty honourable that you beat a Jedi."

Ahsoka felt joyous tears stink her eyes. "R-really?"

"Really. This was one of your trials or something," Captain Orrelios shrugged. "We'll have the ceremony tonight."

And so it was: Captain Tano of the Lasan Honour Gaurd.

I really like it, honestly. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but I think it's pretty good. I'm not sure about a lot of Lasat culture, and I don't know if they'd invite a Togruta to have such an important role, but I like the story and I'm too lazy to look it up. Meh.
