"Hey, mom! Where's dad?" My sister asked as soon as we got into the car.
My sister has always been a daddy's girl while Jess and I usually prefer our mom.
"I'm sorry Julie, he called me a few minutes ago and told me he got caught up at work. He won't be able to make it." My mom replies.
Well...no surprise there.
My dad always brushes us off.
Asshole.
"Oh...okay." My sister says sadly.
"Why are you so surprised Jules, he always ditches us," I mutter.
"He promised me!"
"HE ALWAYS PROMISES! DOESN'T MEAN HE'S GONNA FOLLOW THROUGH WITH-"
"Jade ENOUGH!" My mom cuts me off while glaring at me through the rearview mirror.
"You don't have to be so mean about it," Julie murmurs.
I watch as she pulls out her AirPods and puts them in so she can ignore me and mom.
I hear a few sniffles come from her and I notice her wipe the corners of her eyes.
My sister has always been on the sensitive side while I prefer keeping my problems to myself.
We're complete opposites, in almost everything.
I fight the urge to roll my eyes because I remember that she has no idea about our dad having an affair...with our best friend's stepmom.
Speaking of Alyssa, she told us everything,
About her dad and Jonathon's affair.
To say Jules and I were shocked would be an understatement.
We were flabbergasted.
Right now she's staying with Xander and Axton Mitchell but she did sleepover at our house a couple of times too.
She's meeting her real dad in a couple days and I can tell she's nervous because she keeps getting distracted during class.
"Where are we going?" I ask
"The mall. Your father and I are going to an event tomorrow and I need a dress." My mom says.
"Okay," I mumble.
The rest of the car ride is pretty awkward, I try talking to my sister but she just ignores me.
Now I feel bad for yelling.
It's just really frustrating, you know?
We finally make it to the mall and head in.
"Alright, you girls, go walk around, meet me at the car in an hour." My mom says before heading towards Bloomingdales.
"Wanna go to-"
And I'm alone.
My sister walked off without me.
Great.
Luckily I spot a glimpse of her heading into a random store so I follow her.
"Julie! Please stop ignoring me." I beg before stepping in front of her.
"Move."
"Not until you forgive me."
"Move."
"I'm sorry Jules! I never meant to raise my voice like that. It's just frustrating because he always ditches us and I hate seeing you get hurt over and over again."
She finally looks up at me and sighs.
"You're forgiven and I know, I'm also pissed at dad but he's still our dad and I love him."
"I do too but-"
"He's a flake." She finishes.
"How did you know I was gonna say that?" I ask, shocked.
"We're twins, duh." She laughs.
I'm telling you, twin telepathy is real.
We both laugh it off before heading to a bunch of stores.
While in line to buy a coffee, my mom calls us to let us know that she was done early, so Jules and I grab our drinks and head to the car.
"Can we see the dress mom?" My sister asks.
"Yes!" My mom says excitedly.
It must be a really nice dress then.
Jules pulls it out and unzips the bag to reveal a stunning black silk dress.
"Damn mom!" I gasp.
"Dad is gonna love it!" My sister adds.
"I hope so," Mom says and I watch as her cheeks turn a light shade of pink.
My good mood quickly disappears when my mind goes back to my dad's affair.
"Hey, you okay?" My sister asks.
"Yeah, fine." I plaster on a fake smile.
She clearly doesn't believe me but she also doesn't question me.
We finally turn into our neighborhood-
"Hey, isn't that dad's car?" My sister asks.
I quickly look out of my window and shit...
Please don't tell me he's that stupid.
"Maybe he just got home?" My mom brushes it off.
Shit!

"Probably." My sister shrugs.
Once my mom parks the car, they both get out but I just continue sitting there.
God, if you're listening-
"Come on Jade!" My sister yells while knocking on the window.
Here goes nothing...
"Come on Jade!" I yell while knocking on the window.
She's been weird ever since we turned into the neighborhood.
I watch as she hesitantly gets out and slowly makes her way to the door.
"What's wrong?" I ask as we wait for my mom to unlock the door.
"Nothing."
"Don't lie."
"I'm not."
I continue glaring at my sister while my mom walks around us and unlocks the door.
Once she opens the door she freezes.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
She doesn't reply, instead, she puts her stuff on the ground and starts speed walking up the stairs.
What is going on?
My sister and I look at each other before following her upstairs.
We all pause when we hear a moan.
"Ugh yes, Carlos! RIGHT THERE!" A woman screams.
No.
No way.
Tears immediately start forming in my eyes and when I look at Jade, she doesn't seem shocked in the slightest.
Then again, she barely ever shows emotion so...
My mom's face turned bright red and I'm pretty sure I saw steam coming out of her ears.
She storms right through the door and lets out a loud gasp.
"WHAT THE FUCK!" She shrieks.
I follow her and I gasp when I see my dad wrap a towel around him and Macy grabbing her stuff from the floor.
MACY?!
"Sasha- it's not what-"
"DO NOT FINISH THAT FUCKING SENTENCE!" my mom screams.
She walks up to him and punches him right in the nose.
I gasp when I hear a crack.
She broke his nose.
"Ow! Fuck!" My dad falls to the floor while gripping his nose.
"And you!" She walks over to Macy and grabs her by the hair.
"Sasha I-"
"Shut up you whore." My mom says while dragging Macy down the stairs.
She drags her down and throws her out of the door then chucks her heels at her and slams the door shut.
"Julie I-"
"What the hell dad!" I scream.
I watch as his and Jade's eyes widen.
I'm not the type to lose my cool so this is even more shocking for me.
"I'm sorry." He mumbles.
"Fuck you!" My sister screams.
"You ruined everyone's life you fucking piece of shit! Was Jesse's attempt not a fucking clue on how much you hurt us!" She says while making her way to him.
"She's right! And all those times you said you were busy with work, you were just busy screwing Alyssa's stepmom!"
"Girls I-"
"No! I have no respect for you! I hope mom divorce's you and takes everything you have!" I scream before storming off to my room.
Once I slam the door, I slide against the wall and allow all my tears to fall.
"Jules! Please let me in." My sister says on the other side.
I slowly get up and open the door for her.
She quickly slides in and wraps her arms around me while I cry.
I hear my parents arguing from downstairs which causes me to cry even more.
"Oh god, how's Jess gonna react?" I gasp.
"Don't worry about that right now." She says.
Even though we're only 3 minutes apart, Jade has always acted like she's way older than me.
We sit there for a couple more minutes before Jade heads off towards her room to grab her phone and call Jess.
"What did he say?" I ask.
"He's on his way."
Oh no.
Soon enough we hear footsteps coming up the stairs and we know it's not our parents so it's probably Jess.
There's a knock on my door and Jade tells them to come in.
And to our surprise, it's Lili.
"Lili?" We question.
"Hey, how are you guys doing?" She asks, her voice sounding soft and fragile.
I immediately start crying again while my sister explains what happened.
"Shit, I'm sorry guys." She whispers before wrapping her arms around both of us.
I cry into her shirt while my sister stays quiet and leans on her shoulder.
We all freeze when we hear Jesse's loud voice from downstairs.
What is going on down there?
"Uh, mom?" I call out after looking away from the blood.
"In here!" I hear her voice come from the living room.
I quickly follow the trail of blood and freeze when I see my dad in nothing but a towel holding his now broken and bloody nose and my mom sitting on the couch with a large glass of wine and tear-stained cheeks.
"What did you do?" I ask my dad.
I already know but I wanna see if he admits it.
"Your mom and sisters caught me in bed with another woman." He whispers shamefully.
Fucking prick.
"Not just any woman, your best friend's stepmom." My mom laughs bitterly before chugging her wine.
"You fucked Macy?" I fake gasp.
I want this asshole to feel guilt.
"Yes." He mumbles.
"Fuck you!"
"Jesse!-"
"No! I'm not gonna let you yell at MY son after all the shit you caused in his life!" My mom defends.
"Was cheating once not enough for you!" She screams and begins walking toward him.
"Sasha-"
"Fuck you! Not only have you hurt me, but you hurt our kids! Julianna is crying her eyes out, Jade is trying to comfort her, and Jess is too shocked to even react!" She screams in his face before slapping him.
Good for you mom.
Beat his ass.
"Jade already knew." He blurts.
Oh shit.
DID THIS ASSHOLE JUST THROW HIS DAUGHTER UNDER THE BUS?!
"What?!"
"She caught Macy and me a while back and I begged her not to say anything. In return, I bought her concert tickets, Jess his guitar, and Julie her purse."
Wow-

"Ask her!"
"Jade! Can you come downstairs please!" My mom asks and I hear footsteps coming down.
"What's wrong?" She asks.
"Did you know about your father's affair?" My mom asks.
I watch her face pale a bit and she doesn't reply.
"You knew? And you didn't tell me?" My mom gasps.
"Mom, don't blame her. The only person you should be upset with is him." I say before pointing at my loser of a father.
"You knew too, didn't you?" She asks me.
"Yes but-"
"Did Julie know too?"
"No!" Jade and I say at once.
"Everyone in this damn house is a fucking liar!" My mom screams before throwing her wine glass to the floor and storming out of the living room.
"I hope you're fucking happy!" Jade yells at my dad while tears begin to stream down her face.
"You knew?" Julie's small voice asks from behind us.
"Jules I-"
"We're twins Jade! You're supposed to tell me everything!"
"I didn't want to hurt you!"
"Of course, I would have been hurt! But I would rather have known the truth!"
"I'm sorry Jules!"
"Screw you both!" She scoffs before pushing past Lili and slamming her bedroom door shut.
"FUCK!" Jade yells while making her way upstairs and slamming her own door shut.
I gesture for Lili to go wait in my room and turn back to my dad.
"You ruined my fucking life."
"Jesse-"
"Shut the fuck up and let me finish."
And for once, he listens.
"You just lost the best things that have ever happened to you and for what? A whore who can't seem to keep her legs closed? What the fuck is wrong with you! Mom has always been great to you! Julianna fucking worshiped the ground you walk on! Jade admired you! You were supposed to be my role model! You are a fucking disgrace and I hope you have a fun time rotting in hell." I mutter before walking away from him.
I watch my mom walk back out of her room with a suitcase full of my dad's shit and throw it off the railing.
"Take your shit and leave Carlos." She says.
He quietly grabs his things and walks to the door.
"Oh and Carlos?"
He turns around and his eyes are filled with hope.
Pfft...pathetic.
"I want a fucking divorce."
HA!
His jaw drops but he just nods before grabbing his car keys and heading out.
I lock the door after him and let out a sigh of relief.
"Jesse." My mom says from behind me.
"Yeah?"
"The four of us will talk about this tomorrow."
"Mom I'm-"
"I don't want to hear it right now. I'm very disappointed in you and your sister. I raised you both to always tell me the truth. I expected you both to tell me. Especially about something like this!" She whisper-yells.
"I'm sorry," I mumble.
She doesn't say anything though, she just walks up to her room and slams it closed.
"Fuck." I sigh
I head back upstairs and pass by my sister's rooms.
They're both crying and I can't help but feel my own tears begin to form.
Our whole family was destroyed because of one fucking secret.
I walk into my room and Lili quickly walks over to me and wraps her arms around me.
"I'm so sorry." She mumbles.
I just pulled her even closer.
"I ruined everything," I whisper as tears begin falling.
"Hey! No, you didn't. Don't say that! Your dad is the only one to blame."
I gently pull her down towards the bed with me.
I lay my head on her stomach while she runs her fingers through my hair, trying to calm me down.
But I just can't seem to catch my breath.
Everyone in this house is hurting.
"Thank you for staying," I mumble.
"I'm always gonna be here for you." She says before lacing a kiss on my forehead.
We continue laying there in a comfortable silence before I finally feel my eyes begin to close.
"I love you," I whisper.
"I love you too." She whispers back.
And soon enough, we both fall asleep.
