I woke up to the sound of my alarm and grabbed my glasses from the bed stand. I then looked for a suitable song for the day and eventually gave into 'Backstreet boys.' With my speakers playing ' my love ' I made my way to the bathroom to do my morning routine.
Today my boss Mr. Roots is celebrating the new contract that he signed and me being the company's advisor am very proud of our achievement.
I worked hard for the life I have now. I'm extremely introverted and I don't have any friends but that's okay...since I like being alone. Plus, people are distracting and I don't have time for that.
My Nona lives in the USA where she is receiving medical treatment for her heart problem. The medical bills just keep increasing and she isn't getting any better. MY student loans also need to be paid so to say that I was drowning in-dept would be an understatement and that's just the tip of the Ice Berg. Nona is the only person I have since my parents died and I vowed to do everything in my power to take care of her as she did to me. I studied hard, got into a good university, have a great job that I love and my boss is a very kind man. He reminds me so much of my father.
Unfortunately, I can not say the same for my colleagues.
I don't necessarily have the best taste in fashion and my thick glasses don't help my appearance. I'm not skinny. I'm a little on the thick side due to my thighs plus, I have small breast, so nothing is appealing about me. I rarely go out or party because I have more important things to do with my time. Yeah like watching cartoons and eating. let's not forget the bills too.
Once I was done with my self loathing, I got dressed in a white blouse and a black skirt...I put my hair into a ponytail and put my shoes on. Normally I make something nice for breakfast but today I settled for cornflakes. Once I was done I grabbed my work bag and left my apartment building.
As I walked up to my workplace. The decorations were up and Jake had on a different suit today. "Good morning, how's your day going so far," I said to the doorman.
" I'm great now that you are here, " he responded as he gave me a steady handshake " Big day today huh? "
" Yeah I'm very happy for the company... anywho see you at lunch. " I say as walked up to the elevator. I pushed the button and fixed my glasses as I waited.
Once the elevator arrived I walked in followed by two other colleagues of mine. Secretly known as broccoli and broccolis cousin.
" Good morning. " I said with a little wave.
Sabrina, the one with nice blonde hair gave me a disgusted look and her friend Anna completely ignored me. This situation happens almost every day and at first, I cried a few times due to the bluntness of their response but I got over it. I started work here two years ago and they made it clear from day one that I was a social outcast. I never dressed to impress nor did I wear makeup so from the information I gathered from watching mean girls...I literally qualify as the ugly duckling of my workplace.
Some also call me a prude due to my lack of sexual experience but that's something that never bothered me because I don't have time for stuff like that and I intend to keep that. Either way, it's not like I have guys hitting on me so I bet you a 100 dollars that I would have remained a virgin nonetheless.
Humming a song in my head always helped in situations like this. I rushed out of the elevator as soon as we arrived on my office floor and was met halfway by Mr. Roots.
" Good morning Miss Johnson, " he says as he passes by while talking on the phone. "Morning." I said with a big smile as I entered my office. I sat down at my desk and read my schedule.
We have a meeting with Mr. Anderson scheduled at 9 and after that, I'm done for the day. The party starts at 1 pm so that gives me enough time to watch a movie on Netflix. In the meantime, I started reading through the investment deal and preparing my notes for the meeting.
At 8 Vanessa, Mr. Roots' assistant knocked on my door.
" I was told to inform you that Mr. Anderson has rescheduled the meeting for tomorrow morning " she said without looking up from her phone. Before I could even respond the potato walked out.

Daniel pov
"Yes," " the investment interest is only 12% of what you put in, " "hmmm," " yes sir, "
" okay have a good day. " I say as I finally ended up the call.
I run my fingers through my hair as I read through the contract. Everything looked good for the meeting today.
My next meeting starts in three hours so I called my assistant Rose and told her not to disturb me until then.
I make my way to the sofa in my office and close my eyes and drift immediately into a deep slumber.
Ring Ring
I woke to the sound of my ringtone... Without checking the caller id I answered the call.
" Hello, " I said still in a dreamy state
" Daniel my boy. "
I shot up from my sleeping position and rubbed my eyes " father," I said as I stretched my neck due to the uncomfortable position I was sleeping in.
" Tua madre ed io stiamo andando nel tuo ufficio, abbiamo qualcosa di importante di cui discutere con te," Dad said.
( Your mother and I was something very important to discuss with you, we are on our way up as we speak)
" Si, okay Rose will let you in, " I said as I hung up and made it to my desk.
Checking the time... I only slept for an hour
Well, that's better than nothing. But now I have a headache. Fuçk my life.
The door opened up as my parents walked in, I got up and gave my mother a hug and my father a handshake.
" My poor boy when last did you sleep, look at you, you are so skinny and pale, " my mother said as she held me.
" Mom, I'm fine, " I get back into my seat. " so, what is it you want to discuss with me? "
" Daniel," my father began as they sat down.
"siamo preoccupati per te figlio,"
(We are worried about you son)
" Yes, you are taking over the business in a few months, " mother said as she looked at my father to continue.
" You have been doing amazing good taking care of the business but you have been neglecting yourself in the process, " he said as he leaned his elbows onto my desk.
" So your mother and I have decided, " he said and stop as if looking for the right words.
" Decided what?," I asked looking confused
My mother took my hands in hers and said " Please understand that this is for your own good my boy, "
" Can you please stop beating around the bush?" I said getting irritated
" You will have to get married before you can take over the business," my father said.
" What!, " I whispered yelled.
" You need someone to take care of you,"
" I can take care of myself mother," I argued back.
" Daniel this is not up for discussion, we have decided and that's finale," my father said as he held his hand out for my mother.
They made their way to the door as my mom said " Three months Daniel if you can't find yourself a wife then we will be forced to arrange one with Veronica for you, " With that they left.
I grabbed my phone and car keys and slammed my office door as I walked out.
" Cancel all my meetings for today. " I said to Rose
I didn't wait for a reply as I stormed out of the building. Merda
My blood was boiling as drove to my favorite bar.
I seriously need a drink.
