Nova
Walking outside of the pack house an hour late I rush to the training grounds. Upon arriving I see Lucas talking to Noah and I just ignore them and keep walking so I can get to my normal spot and start doing my warm up yoga. The whole time I felt like I was being watched. While I was doing a downward dog pose I look over to see Lucas starring at me while still talking to Noah. I wink at him then went back to ignoring him.
Standing up I grabbed my stuff and make my way over to a bench. I don't know why all the sudden he wants to stare at me, but if he wasn't my mate it would be creepy. Ralph walks over to me and sets his stuff next to mine.
"Wanna spar or are you scarred of getting beat?" He laughs out causing me to chuckles.
"Sparring it is then. First person with their claws on the others throat wins?"
"Yeah! I could win that easily." He jokes causing me to narrow my eyes at him.
"Let's go then, Mr. Cocky." I respond while we walked to the sparring circle.
"Ready?"
"Let's do this, Cupcake." He jokes again using his old nickname for me.
"I'm going to end this early, Muffin." I respond while using my old nickname for him as well.
We charge at each other and he tries to super man punch me, but I duck under it dodging his punch while landing one of my own to his ribs. He turns and kicks me in my leg causing it to give out for a second while I stumble back growling at him. Time to end this. I smirk at him and decide to use my new trick on him to see if I can pull it off. We walk towards each other both smiling then I pull my leg back and throw a kick at his head. He grabs it then I smirk at him. He looks at me confused till I jump up and go to kick him with my other leg and he grabs that one as well holding me upside down. He looks at me with a cocky grin till I pull up quickly and head butt him. I throw myself back and do a back flip causing him to fly forward doing a front flip and landing on his back on the ground.
I land on my feet squatted over him. Each foot placed at either side of his head. While he's trying to figure out what happened I place my hand on his throat and extend my claws, but not long enough where it would penetrate his throat.
"What the fuck was that?" He says looking at me shocked.
"A little something I've been working on." I say sitting down on his chest laughing.
I hear a growl from across the field but ignore it knowing it was Lucas. He'll get over it. He's acting like I sat on his face. He flips us over so that he's on top of me and my feet are over his shoulder. We laugh then he quickly stands up offering me a hand to help me up.
"Wanna go for a run?" He ask's after catching his breath from having it knocked out of him.
"I'm down but only in human form. I don't need Gracie wondering to Lucas." I say annoyed.
"Alright, let's go." He laughs out.
We take off walking into the woods until we hit the trail for running. We share a look then both take off. We ran for 5 miles until my phone started ringing.
"Go ahead. It's Nala."
"Alright." He says then hugs me and runs off.
"Hello?"
"Nova?" Nala says shakily.
"Hey, love. What's wrong? Are you okay?"
"Nova I was walking to the waterfall and came across 5 rouges. One started asking questions and he has a gun. He told me to call you and tell you to come alone or else he's going to kill me." She cries out.
"I'm on my way. Tell them I'll be alone. Just stay calm." I say while hanging up and running towards her.
I stop running when I see them. I walk up slowly with my hands in the air until I was 15 feet away from them.
"Well well well. If it isn't the girl we're looking for. Our boss will be very happy to know that he will have you soon."
The rouge with the gun pointed at Nala says.
"Yes he will be and I'll go with you just don't.. don't hurt her. Let her go, please."
"Alright how are we gonna do this?" He asks with a eyebrow raised.
"We'll trade places, but I want to at least hug her bye."
"I'll allow it." The rouge says after thinking.
"But sir-"
The one next to him starts then is cut off when the supposed leader of the group growls at him shutting him up.
"Go." The man whispers to Nala.
She walks towards me slowly and I match her every step and speed after she's 5 feet from them. When she's in arms reach I quickly pull her into a hug and take in her scent to calm Gracie down. She would love nothing more than to tear these assholes apart, but I can't risk Nala and the baby getting hurt.
I look up to see the rouge smirk at the others then point the gun at Nala and pull the hammer back. My heart dropped and I pulled back to look at her.
"I'll always love you first, Nala." I tell her then quickly turn her so that I had my back to them and jump into her arms.
It happened to quickly for the rouge to stop the bullet from coming out of the gun. I kiss her quickly as the gun goes off then lose my breath as the bullet hits me in by lower left side. Nala looks at me with wide eyes while I look at her with a small pained smile through teary eyes.
I hear the rouge cursing then they all take off running after Nala legs give out and she falls on her back on the ground and I land on the ground next to her. I start feeling really sleepy, but the pain was keeping me from closing my eyes so I just focused on Nala. She was saying something, but I couldn't understand her.
My ears were ringing loudly, but I didn't care. My only focus was seeing Nala and knowing she and the baby was okay. That's all I cared about.
Nala
"NOOO, NOVA!"
Nova laid there on the ground just starring at me as I talked to her.
"Nova, sweetie don't close your eyes, okay? I'm going to call for help!"
She just lays there starring at me and blinking every now almost like she couldn't hear me. I linked Sean and Lucas and told them where we were and Nova's been shot. I lay down next to her bawling my eyes out just running my fingers through her hair. She just smiled at me and I offered her a broken smile back.
I hear running and look over to see Lucas, Sean, Ralph, James and Noah just starring at us shocked. James falls to his knees and Noah and Ralph take a step back hold each others arms. Sean and Lucas rush over to us and Sean pulls me into his arms.
I try to turn away from him and managed to grab Nova's hand as Lucas bends down and scoops her up. As he picks her up our hands break away and Violet and I both lose our breathe from the loss of her.
"He's gonna rush her to the pack hospital. Are you okay, baby?" Sean says while pulling my chin lightly to look at him.
"Nova.. she.. she saved me.." I whispered then burst out crying.
He then pulled me into his shoulder so I could calm down. I cried till I felt numb. Everything felt numb and I'm sure my face was void of any emotion. Sean just looks at me trying to stay calm, but I know he's feeling my pain.
"Wanna tell me what happened?" Ralph asks soothingly while walking up and sitting next to me.
I look over and see that it's just us three.
"I wanted to visit mine and Nova's spot at the waterfall. When I was almost there 5 rouges showed up questioning me on Nova. I think they were scoping the place out for the attack. He pulled a gun out and pointed it at me and forced me to call her. When she got here she told them to take her without hurting me so they let me walk to her. She hugs me then looked behind me then back to me. I was trying to be strong then she told me she'll always love me first and quickly switched our places before I could reply and jumped into my arms as I heard the gun fire. She kissed me until the silver started affecting her and the rouges took off after we fell. I think he thought he killed her. I then called you guys and tried keeping her awake, but I don't think she could hear me. She just kept starring at me like she was studying me."
"It's okay, she's going to be okay, Nala. Nova is strong and this won't effect her. If they think she died then that works in our favor. Everything happens for a reason. Would you like to go to the hospital and check on her after you make sure the baby is ok after the fall?" Ralph asks me taking my hand.
I nod my head and Sean lifts me up. I place my head in the crook of his neck and try to calm Violet down. She wanted Gracie as much as I wanted Nova. As we were walking I felt my bond to Nova and Gracie weaken to the state of almost inexistent and I cried holding my chest. Sean quickly sat me down worried.
"No.." I whispered then looked at Sean.
I don't know if it was cause I feel her close to death or the stress, but my body couldn't take it and I passed out.
