"Cameron?" She looks at me, her eyes laced with shock as she quickly pulls away from the guy.
"Uh- you remember Jesse, right?" She asks.
My eyes move over to the guy standing next to her and I immediately remember him from the dance.
Her boyfriend.
"Yeah...your boyfriend, right?" I ask but mainly keeping my eyes on her.
"Uh-"
"Yeah," Jesse answers for her as he wraps an arm around her shoulder.
I feel my blood boil when I see a blush form on her face.
"What are you doing here?" Lili asks.
"Your parents invited my parents and me over for dinner," I explained.
"They did?"
"Yeah..."
Fuck this is awkward.
We all just stand there awkwardly until a phone starts ringing.
"Shit! It's my mom. I'll be right back." She says as she takes off the helmet and walks away.
Well, now it's just me and James.
Or was it Jake?
Jack?
I don't fucking know.
"So...how serious are you two?" I ask.
"Uh- pretty serious." He replies.
"So she's let you tap that?"
"What the fuck did you just say? He says while walking up to me.
He needs to fucking chill, I didn't even say anything wrong.
"Chill bro, all I did was ask if she let you fuck her. She's a fucking prude. It took me a whole fucking year so get ready to wait. Luckily there were other bitches on the side-"
I was cut off when I felt a punch on the side of my face.
"What the fuck bro!" I wince while grabbing my cheek.
"Don't ever talk about my girl like that again." He says calmly.
"She's not your fucking girl."
"I'm pretty sure if she's my girlfriend then she's my girl." He mutters.
"That's where you're wrong, she'll always be my girl."
"Really? Because after what she told me about you, I'm surprised she hasn't run you over with a car." He laughs bitterly.
What the fuck did she tell him?
"Ok, I'm back. So my mom said that both of your families are coming over as well as Xander's family." Lili says before she pauses and looks at me.
"What the hell happened to your face?"
"What?"
"There's a huge ass bruise on your cheek. What did you do Jess?" She looks up at him.
"He pissed me off." He shrugs before grabbing her hand and walking away.
Her little boyfriend needs to fucking go.
We all make our way back towards Lili's house before she pulls away from him.
"Babe, as much as I like you in jeans and a wife-beater, you should probably go change." She smiles up at him before leaning up to kiss his cheek.
But before she has the chance to reach his cheek, he grabs her chin and kisses her on the lips.
I'm about to tackle this mother fucker to the floor.
"See you soon." He says before he walks back to the house right next to hers.
She waits until he's inside the house before she makes her way into her own house.
"Is that Miss Lili?" My mom says excitedly before wrapping her arms tightly around Lili.
"Hi, Mrs.Fields! How are you?" Lili asks, a big smile on her face.
Lili may hate me, but she's always loved my parents.
"I'm great honey! Wow, you're still the beautiful girl I remember."
"Aww thank you, Mrs.Fields."
"Oh no need to be formal sweetheart, call me Karen." My mom smiles sweetly.
"Liliana, in the kitchen please!" I hear her mom yell from the kitchen.
Lili quickly excuses herself before making her way into the kitchen.
"Cameron, you better win her back. She's the best thing that's ever happened to you." My mom says, her fake smile dropping.
"I'm trying mom, but...I've kinda run into a problem," I mumble.
"What kind of problem?"
"She has a boyfriend."
"What?!" My mother dramatically gasps.
Ugh. Shoot me.
"Well, you need to make sure they break up." She says quickly.
What?
"What? You want me to sabotage her relationship?"
I mean technically that's what I'm already doing with Madison but I just never thought my mom would ever want me to do something like that.
"She's an important asset for your dad's company. As long as you're with her, our partnership with Lili's mother will go by smoothly and you'll be a part of the will." She says.
God, my mom's a fucking bitch.
"Right..." I mumble.
The doorbell rings and Lili makes her way back into the living room and I watch my mom plaster the fake smile back onto her face.
"What's up Lils!" I hear Xander Mitchell's voice yell.
"Put me down, Xander! You're squeezing too hard!" She wheezes before he quickly sets her down.
"My bad. Yo Fields! What's up, man!" He says as he walks over to me and gives me a tight bro hug.
I watch as Lili greets the rest of Xander's family before making her way back up to her room.
"Cameron Fields, man I haven't seen you in years." I look up and immediately recognize the voice of Axton Mitchell, Xander's brother.
"Whoa man, you're a fucking giant!" I laugh.
"And you're still tiny." He smirks.
At least I know his personality hasn't changed...fucking prick.
I just flip him off and continue my conversation with Xander.
We both pause when we hear a laugh come from Axton.
"Ooo, who are you texting?" I taunt.
"Ugh, he's been like this for the past two days. Whoever this girl is has a good grip on his balls." He rolls his eyes while I let out a loud laugh.
"Shut up man!" Axton laughs while shoving his brother.
"What! It's true! You were even on your phone during dinner last night and you hate when people use their phones at the table." Xander says.
"No, I wasn't!"
"Yes, you were! You were just too busy on your phone to notice!"
"So, who is she? Is she hot?" I ask and they both glare at me.
"It's not only about looks, Fields," Axton says before finally putting his phone in his pocket.
"You're right, it's 80% looks and 20% personality. Can't have anyone too stupid. Am I right?" I smirk but they both just roll their eyes.
"You're a fucking idiot Fields." Xander sighs.
Ok, guess we all got different types...
"To answer your question, yes she's BEAUTIFUL but to be honest it's her personality that made me interested in her. She's super straightforward and she's an amazing artist." He laughs.
"Damn, you haven't even gone on a date with her yet and you're already simping." Xander laughs.
We continue talking until there's another knock on the door. I'm assuming this is John and his family.
Jesse! I meant Jesse.
Oops.
"Jesse! Over here!" Xander calls out.
"You guys are friends?"
"Yeah man, we've been best friends since we were kids."
Jesse quickly greets Lili's family, Xander's family, and my family before taking a seat on the couch next to Axton.
"How's the band going man?" Axton asks.
"It's going pretty good, we have a gig at the new jazz club next week." He says.
"That's sick man!"
"Yeah, we're really exci-" He slowly stops talking and we all notice his focus linger on something.
We all turn around and watch as Liliana makes her way down the stairs.
She looks so fucking hot.
She's wearing a white dress made of silk and lace trimming that stops a bit above her knees. Her hair is loosely curled and she paired the dress with dainty gold jewelry.
"You're one lucky man, Jess," I mumble.
"Why?" Xander asks.
"What do you mean 'why'? Liliana is his girlfriend and she's fucking hot." I ask.
I watch as Xander's eyes widen and he begins to choke on his water.
Then he looks over at his brother and they both start bursting out laughing.
"Please! You and Liliana. Dating?!" Xander wheezes.
"That's the funniest shit I've ever heard." Axton laughs while wiping the corner of his eyes.
I notice that Jesse's calm expression doesn't twitch one bit, he just sits there glaring at the brothers.
They both quickly stop laughing.
"Oh shit, you're serious?" Xander gasps.
"Yep."
"What the fuck! Why didn't you tell me?"
"You never asked."
"I- I hate you."
"Why don't we ask Lili?" Axton suggests.
Right at that moment, Lili happened to be walking past the living room.
"Lili! Over here."
She pauses for a second before making her way over to us and takes a seat in between Jesse and Axton.
"What's up?"
"Are you and Jess actually dating?" Xander asks.
She freezes and quickly looks at Jess but he just grabs her hand and nods.
"Uh yeah."
"Holy shit! How the fuck did this happen?"
"We've been hanging out for a while and we just hit it off so I decided to ask her to be my girlfriend," Jess says.
"Wait, so then why did you go to the dance with Arya?"
He went to the dance with another girl?
"We wanted to keep our relationship private, plus I barely was with her because you snagged her from me." He smirks at Xander.
"Yeah well, it all worked out now because we both have girlfriends." Xander laughs.
"No need to rub it in. Right, Axton?" I mumble.
"I mean I'm talking to someone...so you're alone on this one man," Axton says.
"Fuck you, man. I hate being single." I groan.
"Well, maybe you wouldn't be single if you were actually loyal in your relationships," Jesse mutters and I hear Lili snort.
"Do you have a fucking problem with me or something?" I ask.
"Yeah, I actually do. Sorry, I'm not a big fan of the guy who cheated on my girlfriend with one of my best friend's girlfriends at the time." He says.
"Fuck you, bro, you don't even know-"
"I think I heard Lili's mom call us for dinner. Right Ax?" Xander glares at his brother who looks super confused.
"Oh! uh- yes! Why don't we all head to the kitchen" Both brothers and Lili stand up and make their way towards the kitchen while Jesse and I continue to glare at each other.
"Come on Jess!" Lili returns and grabs both of Jesse's hands and drags him towards the kitchen.
I fucking hate Jesse Ramirez.
"Oh perfect! I was just about to call you guys for dinner!" Lili's mom exclaims.
We all make our way around and take a seat. I feel a pinch on my arm and wince.
"Ow. What the fuck!"
"Is that her boyfriend?" My mom asks.
"Yes." I groan while rubbing my arm.
"Well, she does have good taste, I'll admit that." My mom looks at Jesse up and down.
"Ew, mom!"
"What! He's a good-looking young man but I still expect you to get her back. Go sit next to her!" She shoos me.
I groan before I take the seat on the left of Lili's.
I fucking hate my life.
"Axton, get off your phone!" Everyone pauses as his dad yells.
"Sorry" He mumbles.
"Axton honey, it's been way too long! How's Yale? I bet you're enjoying studying film just like your parents." Lili's mom says.
"Eh, it's alright." He says.
Everyone freezes before directing their attention to him.
"What do you mean 'it's alright'?" His dad asks, his voice slightly rising.
"Oh- uhh you know, I just wish they offered more programs for me. You know?" He nervously laughs and everyone else soon follows except for his dad who's still glaring at him.
"Anyways, enough about me! Why don't we talk about the new couple, Jesse and Lili." Axton blurts.
Suddenly I hear coughing from the other side of the table. Lili's mom is choking on her pasta while her dad is patting her on the back and Jesse's mom's jaw is wide open.
"You two are dating?!" Jesse's mom shrieks.
Ok, why did no one know about their relationship?
"Oh um...yep! Surprise!" Liliana says before she grabs her glass and starts chugging all of the water.
Some things are not adding up here.
