She never came back
She walked down those temple steps without a word to any of them

They had hunted her as if she was prey
But they were sorry
And yet they never got to apologize
Because she never came back

"Are you out of your mind?!"
"Well, I uh, I know that she would never... never leave us like that. She was... was loyal."
"You can't talk about them like that, though. You can't blame them. Not you."
"But she'd never just leave. We were all she had."
"You can't blame them."
"Neither can you."
"You're right. None of us can."
"So you understand. She'd never leave."
"This conversation is over. It's late. I don't want to see you anymore tonight."
"But-"
"I said I don't want to see you. Off you go, now. Off with you."
She never said goodbye
She never even came back
They never got to apologize
Because she never came back
"He's right and you know it."
"Are you out of your mind?"
"No, he's right. Listen to him. She'd never leave without saying goodbye. She'd never just abandon us. We're all she had and she walked away. Nothing could ever shake her except them. Nothing."
"You can't say that about them!"
"Can't you see? Open your eyes! They drove her away! They stripped her from us! Just admit it, they were the only ones who could do it. She was so strong-willed."
"Fine."
"So you do see it!"
"I see it, but I can't blame them."
He knew it with all his heart
He knew it with all his mind
He knew it with all his strength
But he couldn't blame them
"Not out loud."
Because it was their fault and no one could deny it
And no one could deny that she was gone
And no one knew where she was
And no one knew if she was alive
And no one really got to say sorry
And she never said goodbye

Commander Tano- their vod'ika- was gone because the council drove her away
And Rex knew it
And Fives knew it
And Tup knew it
And Jesse knew it
And they all knew it
And they couldn't deny it
But they couldn't say it
And they could hardly stand it
Because she never even said goodbye.
