I've decided I will post these first chapters quicker because I already have them written and they are introductory (not that interesting maybe). That's why I also ask for a little of patience as these are for context building for (Y/n) and Kakashi. Like I said in my 1st fanfic of Kakashi, I can't imagine him falling in love quickly or doing certain things out of nowhere. Especially in his Anbu years.

3rd person's POV:

The breeze was so cold it made all of (Y/n)'s hairs stand, and so fresh it completely revitalized her body from inside out. With each breath she took she felt the cold flowing inside her body, cleansing her all the way through. She hated it, but she loved it. She hated that she had to go there, so late at night, and so lonely, so that she could feel this way.

"Oi," a slightly upset voice forced her out of her peaceful state. But this time, unlike last time, she didn't react to the voice, already knowing who it was from. She just continued to lay on the grass, now wet due to the early dew that only did but heighten that cold inside her "How many times do I have to tell you that you can't be here" Kakashi added, more annoyed by the fact that she didn't even seem fazed by him or his tone.

"Probably some more," she just answered uninterested but with a small smile that didn't reach her eyes at all "I'm harmless, I swear, you can pretend you didn't see me and keep your watch elsewhere" she added after a small silence in which he just stared at her, stranged by her demeanor and person in general.

"I'm not gonna pretend anything. This is my job, and you're the only recurrent person I've found night over night. That's not common behavior" he said with a stern voice. But once again, (Y/n) didn't seem to hear him, or well, listen to him. She had perfectly heard him, but she continued to stare at the vast starry night, its magnitude just making her hollowness more intense "Go home" Kakashi added, frowning under his Anbu mask.

"I think I'll pass" she just said again, crossing one leg over her other one while her arms continued to be crossed under her head.

Kakashi's frown on the other hand deepened even more, completely the opposite of (Y/n)'s serene expression. He was annoyed that someone didn't follow his command, even more if that person was a regular citizen; and even more if it was her, a kid that just continued to ignore him and other Anbu. But at the same time, it ignited some curiosity in him. Why would a girl his age roam at night just to stare at the nothingness of the sky? What was there that she wanted? He couldn't know for sure, but he could easily reach a conclusion: she wanted to be alone.

So he stopped crouching in the distance. He got closer to her, finally making her avert her eyes from the moon to him without changing her position. He only got closer a few steps before he sat down completely, his eyes fixed on her through his mask. And because of this, it was now (Y/n)'s brows turn to scrunch into a frown.

"Are you really gonna stay here until I leave?" she asked incredulous, almost clicking her tongue in the process. But she got no answer, making her roll her eyes and finally stand up with a heavy sigh. But even when she was gone from that place—not to go home, of course, but to wander somewhere else—Kakashi continued to follow her in the distance. (Y/n) gritted her teeth, even more annoyed, especially from Kakashi's indifference "Are you gonna follow me everywhere?!" she asked, stopping in her tracks and turning around to look at him.

There was a small silence in which they both looked at each other. Kakashi at her sulking face and her at his dark eyes behind the Anbu mask.

"Until you go home" he repeated tonelessly. But his brows arched behind his mask when her frown fell and her eyes stopped looking at him. She turned around and continued walking with her arms crossed close to her chest, seemingly not bothered by him trailing behind her anymore "Where are you going?" it was Kakashi who asked this time when the village's gates started to be visible.

"Out" she just answered normally, making him frown even harder.

"You can't, you need the Hokage's permission to leave the village" he said with a voice as if he had memorized that and many other lines. He was now even more weirded out and intrigued by her behavior but also troubled that she would want to get outside of the village where she wouldn't be protected by the village's ninja anymore. 'Just what the hell is she doing' he couldn't help but think. But (Y/n) seemed to continue ignoring him "Stop" he added, this time sternly and placing himself in front of her right in between her and the gates that now were significantly closer.

"What if I don't want to" she answered, her brows scrunched but not in a frown and rather into a defiant look "What if I told you I'm a spy from another village" she added, pulling out a kunai from her back pocket "What are you going to do? Will you kill me? What will you —AH" she got cut off when someone pushed her to the floor from behind, restraining her completely.

She looked from the muddy floor with a pained expression and saw the Kakashi she had been talking to poof away, seeing the real Kakashi behind her and keeping her in that position with his knee on her back and his hand on the back of her head, pushing her even harder against the dirty and cold floor as he twisted her arm behind her.

"Where did you get this" he demanded, taking the kunai out of her hands "It's illegal to sell weapons to regular civilians"

"How did you know I was lying?" she asked instead, kind of amused by the whole situation.

He sighed and let go of her, taking his weight off her body and standing up again, still alert in case he had to restrain her once more.

"You weren't holding it right and it's a kunai, there's not even that many ways you can hold it" he said, rolling his eyes. (Y/n) chuckled, kind of embarrassed but at the same time finding the situation entertaining. She stood up and dusted herself off "Where did you get it" he repeated again.

"I found it" she shrugged.

"Where"

"On the street" she answered dismissively.

"Where"

"Just in an alley" she said, slightly louder and annoyed that he was being so persistent.

There was a short silence again. Kakashi kept inspecting her even more confused by her and her actions, and (Y/n) thinking about how could she get to make him lose track of her. She could easily lose other Anbu, but not him, and it was starting to be annoying. Almost as annoying as she was starting to be to him too.

"What are you trying to do?" Kakashi couldn't help but ask her his thoughts. 'Did she really want me to kill her?' he thought, unsure if it was a stunt of hers or actually her plan. But she shrugged uninterested again before she let go of a yawn.

"Fine, I'll go home for today" she said, going back and walking towards her place. And although she couldn't see Kakashi around, she knew he kept following her to make sure she actually kept her word.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, (Y/n) was up and having to deal with her adult responsibilities. Was she an adult? Not yet. Did life cut her some slack because of that? Not at all.

With the money she had earned from pick-pocketing the last few nights, she decided that it was time to go out and buy groceries again, and so that's what she did. She didn't exactly buy much, not because she didn't have enough money, but because she never felt like cooking anyway.

She had bought only one bag of food and was walking back to her minuscule apartment when she came across Miko and her other friend Miu talking and laughing with each other as they walked somewhere as well.

"(Y/n)!" Miko greeted her first when they saw her.

"What are you doing here?" Miu asked, (Y/n) blinked a few times and shook the bags in her hands.

"I was getting some groceries. What about you?" she answered, tilting her head.

"We were about to go to this new café," Miko explained "Do you want to come?" she then asked her. (Y/n) hesitated, she had the grocery bag in her hands and thought it would be troublesome to take it somewhere, to a café of all places. She also felt slightly intruding because they were going there without her in the first place.

"If you have to be somewhere it's fine" Miu said upon seeing (Y/n) hesitate.

"No, it's fine, let's go" (Y/n) finally decided, smiling at them and following the two girls, glad that she could go out with her friends after what seemed like a century.

They reached the place, and the three of them immediately fell in love with it. It was quite modern in comparison with the rest of the cafés and bars in Konoha. This one had comfortable seats and couches with a dim light and cozy decoration beside the huge windows that allowed all the light from the busy streets to flood the place. They sat near said window and ordered their own stuff, quickly resuming the chat they were having while heading to the place.

"I know, she's just so fake" Miko said while she licked the straw of her drink that dripped some of the strawberry milkshake she had ordered "Do you remember what she told us when we were leaving the building?" she asked Miu who nodded, expectant to what she would say next "Well I heard her saying the same things to Asuka and Hana" at her words Miu's eyes widened before she huffed with disdain and started sipping her tea.

"I told you she would do something like that" Miu said, leaning back on her seat while both gossiping girls drank from their drinks. (Y/n) drank as well, looking at them as if she knew what they were talking about, but as they kept with that topic she just couldn't pretend anymore.

"Who are you talking about?" she asked, interrupting the two girls' gossip.

"She's a girl from our class," Miu explained shortly "Oh, do you remember the shoes I wanted to buy last week?" she asked Miko right after, changing the topic.

"Yeah, did you get them?!" Miko suddenly jumped, excited and startling (Y/n).

"No, Shun said he didn't like them, so I think I'll wait for the new collection" Miu answered, a little disheartened.

"Which shoes? And who's Shun?" (Y/n) asked again, sweat-dropping. Miko rolled her eyes and Miu sighed.

"The newest shoes from Sato's store, everyone wants ones now" Miu explained.

"And Shun's her boyfriend, you are not listening (Y/n)" Miko said with a snarky tone while she sipped from her milkshake, finishing it. But her comment, despite seeming cheeky and harmless, irked (Y/n) whose brow twitched.

"I'm listening, you just never tell me any of this" the words slipped from (Y/n)'s lips, making her shut them immediately at the realization.

"If you hanged out more with us you'd know" Miu revoked, and (Y/n) couldn't help but blink completely stunned. 'You never invite me' she answered in her mind, but she didn't say anything else because she knew that she had refused many times and that's why they eventually stopped asking. It just happened that many times she didn't have the energy to go out of her apartment and socialize. Not to talk about the fact that before she started pick-pocketing she didn't even have the money to afford to go out with them. So deep down, she knew she was at fault as well.

After that, (Y/n) decided not to ask anything else, and in fact, she just stopped paying attention. Why would she listen to all that gossip if she didn't care nor knew who or what they were talking about? So she just sat there, eyes lost in the table while she kept drinking from her empty drink, completely lost in the immensity of her thoughts. So much, that she continued to be there after her friends left. After all, they had somewhere to be and she didn't have anything else to do. But even after they were long gone, her eyes continued to be stuck there, in the air, while she kept thinking about when did she start to mistreat Miko and Miu, her only friends ever, and about how it was more her fault than anyone else's.

She stayed there for a while, completely unaware of the passing time and people, even if one of the people that passed by the window she was sitting almost lifelessly was Kakashi. He took notice of her, of her thoughtful state, sitting alone at a table. But he as well had places to be and thus continued his journey.
