Matthew POV
"Really?" I said. All my worries vanished when she said that she forgave me.
"You really forgive me?" I said as I attempted to stand. But she stood up and held me.
"Don't stand up! You still have not yet recovered from the accident! You need to be careful or else your wounds will open again!" She said as I inhaled her scents again.
My arms are itching to touch her and feel her against me. How I wish I could hold her and smell her. I watched as she turned away from me. My mind is battling inside of me. I want to pull her into me. Not wanting to let her go away from me.
"I… I.. I am just happy that you forgive me!" I said as I can't help but smile.
Something inside my heart and I feel warm knowing that she forgives me.
"Ok… so i will call your mom to assist you back to your room!" She said and I shook my head.
"No, please there's still something I want to ask you!" I said to her, She nodded at me telling me to go on.
"My mom said she saw you yesterday. You're with a little girl that looks exactly like me, Is she my daughter?" I said as I tried to read her reaction.
She looked stunned for a moment but then she recovered. Then she frowned, staring at me.
" Why?" She asked me.
"Huh? What do you mean why?"
"I mean why? Why did you ask about her?" She said to me,
"I just want to know. Please tell me the truth!" I pleaded with her.
"Look, I told you I already forgive you but about my little girl I don't think I can tell you about her. She's my daughter, that's all I can say! So can you please go out? I will call your mom to get you!" She said and went to the door but I held her wrist stopping her.
She looked at me surprised then she pulled her hand away from me. I tried to get up and even bend my knees in front of her. Her eyes turn wide looking at me.
"What are you doing?" She said as she tried to pull me up.
"No please! I want to know about my daughter! Please I want her to know me too. Please!.. Please!" I said as I kept pleading at her. Holding both of her legs.
"Mr Rogers please get up! You just worsen your wounds!" She said but I swatted her hands.
"No! Please? Please.. let me know about her. I know it's too late but I can be a good father to her. I will learn to cook, clean and everything. Please?" I don't care if I look like a loser or pity but I just want to know my daughter.
"Just get up Mr. Rogers!"
"Then let me meet her. My mom told me that the last time you went to our house and told her that you're pregnant. She's that baby right? Right?" I said as I looked at her.
"I told your mom about it and she told me that you don't want anything to do with it. Please I don't want to hurt my daughter. She's the only thing that matters to me"
"No, I want to be part of her life. Please give me a chance. I promise you, I will be a good father to her!" I said as I kept pleading to her.
"Fine you can meet her but please get up!" She said and I stood up then hugged her. I swear she still smells the same. Her body stiffened as I tightened my hold on her. I cried on her shoulder as I couldn't help it.
"Thank you.. thank you…!" I said. She pulled away from me harshly and I looked at her confused.
"Ok that's enough!" She said " you can talk to her when you're better and heal. But for now you can now go. I will call your mom!"
"No no! Can you help me instead?" I asked her. I know it's absurd but I don't care. I just want her next to me.
"Huh?" She said in confusion.
"Please, can you be the one to help me instead? I don't want to burden my mom. Please?"
"I.. I will call your nurse!"
"No no.. please no.. I want you to help me Mags? Please!" Then I held her hand and put it in my wheelchair.
"Ok!" She said,
"Thank you!" I smiled happily at her.
For the past six years I have never felt this happy. My tears attempted to drop but I held it. It's a tear of joy. I really want to tell her how I feel about her but I want to take it one by one.
When we went inside the elevator. I keep glancing at her. She never said a word so I spoke first.
"So, you're a doctor?" I asked her.
"Hmm!" She said in a hummed.
"What time is your shift over?"
"Five!" She said shortly.
"Can I come again?!"
"No you can't! I am busy with my work!" She said then I pouted.
"Then what do you do after this?!" I asked her again.
"I have a clinic hours after this!" She said,
"Can I just stay there?"
"No Mr Rogers. You're a patient, you can't walk around in the hospital!" She said,
"I am not walking around. I just want to talk to you!" I said.
"We will talk about her when you're better. So for now concentrate on healing yourself!" She said
"Ok!" I didn't notice that we were already in my room. My mom is already there. She smiled at Margaret when she saw her.
"Oh thank you for helping him get here!"
"It's my job Mam. I will go now!" She said and turned away from us.
When she's out of the room. My mom began to question me.
"So is she ok? Can we see her?" She asked excitedly
"Yeah .. she told me that I can meet her!" I said, making her smile so bright.
"Do you hear that honey? Finally a granddaughter for us!" She said as she went to my father who was also smiling happily knowing the news.
