Chapter 15 but Wang Yibo pov the next chapter is going to be like that too dont expect much too
There are a few moments Wang Yibo was the happiest in his life. You could count them down with one hand but nonetheless, he was the happiest in the moments. Some of them when he and Seungyoun were admitted into military school together. All his life Wang Yibo never wanted anything to do with Bussiness or his family company well at least until he was in his mid 40's he would join then now he was busy fulfilling his dreams. Nothing could be greater than the excitement he had when the letter came he got so excited that he hugged his father well that was the first and the last time he did so.
The second most excitement was the day of Seungyoun's wedding. He was really excited for his friend that he had finally found the one and they had settled down in harmony. All his life when he knew Seungyoun (since their diaper days) and when they were the suitable age to get into relationships Seungyoun had always been a little bit out of luck when it came to relationships and love. He dated there and here but it was never serious and it all changed when he met Wooseok the 'cute medical student' and Wang Yibo was glad it changed for the better.
Another exciting moment was when Xiao Zhan said yes to being his boyfriend after a few dates here and there. Or when they celebrated holidays and birthdays together as a couple they were all the beautiful memories he had with his now ex-husband. Also the day he proposed to Xiao Zhan and the day of their wedding was one of the only exciting moments in his life.
It was no secret that he still had romantic feelings for his ex-husband even after the divorce. It was an open secret to all. Even though his father was behind his divorce (mainly) the clauses in the divorce paperwork also showed otherwise. Their marriage had hurt Xiao Zhan, even though they were husband goals it still impacted Xiao Zhan mentally in a negative way, and Yibo himself could have seen the signs if he was home that 80% of the time.
But now his ex-husband was much happier than when he was with him after the divorce was finalized. That was a partial reason why he took on this mission to travel across the ocean to Kiribati and spend two years there trying to move on from Xiao Zhan but who was he kidding how can one move on from the one you love dearly. The days were getting better Wang Yibo could now sleep without crying himself to sleep, he could now look at Xiao Zhan pictures and smile instead of crying. He wasn't mopping around anymore, maybe that's what his cousin meant by being in new places can heal you. Wang Yibo now looked forward to his mornings instead of dreading it. Also with Team Alpha/ his friends joining him a month later, Wang Yibo could say he was enjoying his healing time in Kiribati.
But all of that crashed when he saw his husband in Kiribati 5 months later. It was nearly 2 years later after the divorce and 4 years later after they had cut ties with each other. Wang Yibo was lying before he had not and never moved on from his ex-husband he never tried to. Now he was facing his husband 6,000 miles away from home in a foreign country that brought them here for their work. He had to act like he didn't care but it was very hard not to turn and look at his husband beautiful face when he heard the melody of his laugh or when he whined to Wooseok about the co-workers speculating that he was married to Wooseok. Every laugh from his ex-husband that was sitting 2 tables away from theirs brought a smile to his face like it always did. The team looked at him with concerned faces but he smiled at them showing them that he was okay but was he really.
Time moved exceptionally first and in no time it was time to introduce himself to the medical team that was led by his ex-husband. He knew his friends were holding his breath by the way they all stopped on whatever they were doing and focused on him approaching the medical team. This wasn't new to him in his field of occupation there was the motto that went by 'no string attached and that was what he was going to do now, no string attached since there weren't any, to begin with.
"Good evening I am Captain Wang Yibo the Captain of the base I am very honoured to welcome you to the base. And on behalf of the villagers, I am going to thank you for your sacrifice that you are going to give" Wang Yibo gave the team a 90-degree bow since they were going to colleagues now he should put his past feelings aside and focus on the task that was ahead of them, he couldn't help but not miss the pitiful glance he kept receiving from Wooseok and Seungyoun. What were they worried about he was fine?
Xiao Zhan gave 'Wang Yibo' "Thank you for allowing us to accommodate us and provide our safety on behalf of the Hospital team we would like to ask you and your team to take care of us" Xiao Zhan flashed his professional smile, of course, Wang Yibo knew it was his professional smile he was once married to this man what do you expect. Nevertheless, in the end, he was satisfied by their meeting and it had started with the right foot and not the wrong one. He knew his friends were concerned for him and they were going to check up on him but he dismissed them telling them he had something to check up on back at his office. But truth be told he was following Xiao Zhan since he saw him look out of place when he was talking to his friend he couldn't help but look out for him.
Even when his heart hurts whenever he looked at him, even if he was moved to tears when he looked at him. Surely loving a person can be one painful thing. How could he look so close and yet so far at the same time? He smiled fondly looking at Xiao Zhan who was laughing along with his colleagues who seemed to be entertaining him. Wang Yibo stood there, he had a clear view of him. He made sure he had a nice view of him in case anything happened to him the moment he saw him detach himself from the group. Something in him had churned to see if he was okay because he was worried for him. The sky today was darker it made the half-moon more visible and brighter than the other days. He looked over to where Xiao Zhan was walking he was still there standing looking at the moon just like him it reminded him of the days where they would go on long drives together and moon gazing after a long day of hectic back to back schedules. Would Xiao Zhan look at him now under this same sky gazing on the same moon but not together just in different positions?
He wanted to stay by Xiao Zhan's side even if it meant watching him from far away he far much thankful for that. Even though his heart was hurting, even though it was cold and lonely Wang Yibo will strive to stay by his side even if it was from far.
He just blinked and Xiao Zhan disappeared from his eyesight ( he turned around to answer a question from one of the officers). For a moment Wang Yibo panicked but rushed to the last point Xiao Zhan was and he was welcomed by sobbing sounds from the corner. He stopped in his tracks he couldn't move forward there was a force holding him back this was his vulnerable moments, the moments he felt weak to the knees. Xiao Zhan was there crouched down on the ground sobbing and he couldn't do anything he had to just stand there and not be able to move a muscle to comfort him. These were the moments he prayed Xiao Zhan was in his arms for comfort and safety but even if he prayed hard enough nothing was going to happen against it. The sobs sounded like Xiao Zhan was not okay for a long time his heart was still hurting. It sounded like a desperate cry and Wang Yibo couldn't do anything but gaze down at the wall that was separating him. It is not like he didn't know what to do it was the fact that he didn't have the power to do it. Was it hard for Xiao Zhan to pretend it didn't hurt when it really did Wang Yibo asked himself that question?
He carefully approached Xiao Zhan to see if he was okay after the sobbing had calmed down. Wang Yibo looked down at Xiao Zhan, his face was tear-stained but beyond that, he looked beautiful under the moonlight. The moonlight itself that night wasn't doing justice to his beauty. Sighing his heart raced that was the bare minimum power Xiao Zhan had over him if only he knew the maximum. Xiao Zhan shivered the cold wind must have caught up to him. Wang Yibo removed his jacket covering Xiao Zhan with it.
"It must be cold" Wang Yibo delicately fixed the jacket to the unresponsive Xiao Zhan. "I am sorry"
Wang Yibo didn't know what he was apologizing for but he still apologized he felt like apologizing to the latter every moment his eyes met his. "Let's get you back to your room" He carried the latter bridal style trudging back to their sleeping quarters. "You loosed some weight" Wang Yibo held Xiao Zhan tightly but delicately "Hold tight" As if Xiao Zhan had selective hearing he held Wang Yibo's hand tighter and snuggled deeply in his chest. Even though Wang Yibo chuckled his heart was racing faster and his arms were getting sweaty but he wasn't really going to focus on that for now.
Getting Xiao Zhan to his room was the one thing he was supposed to do, that was the only job he had but why did he go out his way and kiss him, Wang Yibo asked himself as he walked slowly back to his sleeping quarters. Even though the kiss was only on the forehead why did he kiss him?
Wang Yibo didn't want to go back to his sleeping quarters knowing his buddies were going to pester him about Xiao Zhan. he too was pestering himself about his infatuation with Xiao Zhan.
