I was wrong and for once I’m happy about it! A few nights later Chris, of all people had- well basically dragged me out of the apartment. I had been skipping school, just- staying away from everyone. But with a few pushes and shoves from my dad, and he was taking me to golf n’stuff, just for fun, also he didn’t want to work his shift alone. I was reluctant at first, but Chris was a sweet guy, he made it easy, and I honestly needed to just relax and let loose.
“Come back soon to Golf n’ Stuff” Chris smiled as family walked away with their stuffed animal
I sat in one of the stools, spinning around in it until I started seeing spots. I was enjoying myself though, and I was out of the house.
“Whoa-” I grabbed the counter, trying to get my barring again
“Nice one stupid” Chris chuckled, making me give him a wonky smile
As I got my vision and my balance back, wouldn’t you know it, the delinquents showed up. Hawk ran up with a victorious grin, slamming a pile of tickets on the counter.
“Hey buddy!” he greeted
“Hey prize wench” Mitch smirked
“What do you guys want?” Chris sighed
“Well, to spend our hard earned tickets of course” Hawk faked innocence
“Bu- bullshit” I spoke up, making everyone heads jerk to me
“What’re you doing here?” Hawk questioned, his ego faltering
“Help” I answered, pointing at Chris “Go way”
“Yeah right” Mitch scoffed, earning a smack in the chest from Hawk
“Listen Harley, we can talk later. For now, why don’t you go be a good girl, and grab us one of those bobbleheads?” Hawk smirked
As much as I was angry at him right now- goddammit why’s he hot when he’s an asshole! You can really tell I’m mentaly unstable. Well, two can play at that game, you’re still my bitch.
“Say plee...” I grunted, my throat closing off suddenly
Hawk scoffed, playing it off like I was joking, while the rest of his buddies laughed with him. When he turned back to me and I hadn’t moved, his face changed. Yeah that’s right sweetheart, you know you’re the bottom here.
“Please” he muttered
I nodded, getting off my stool to grab a bobble head, but of course I couldn’t reach it. Chris came over to help me grab it, but while both our backs were turned Hawk jumped over the counter, grabbing a bunch of stuffies and things and tossing them to kid minions before we could even react.
“Thanks Chris! Tell your mom I miss her!” Mitch called back with a smirk as they ran away
“Yeah tell her to stop callin me, I’m obviously taken” Hawk got in one last comment before they all booked it
I cracked my neck, clenching my fists hard and kicking the wall behind me so hard a few other toys came toppling off the wall.
“Whoa whoa- please don’t go red, red” Chris begged
I sighed, turning around and knocking my head against the wall, trying to calm down.
“I- well-... That’s, not good either-” Chris cringed.
I sighed, taking a deep breath and cracking my neck again before sitting back on the stool I was on before, trying to stay calm. Chris was typing away on his phone.
“Who?” I questioned
“Telling Sam what happened” Chris sighed, putting his phone back in his pocket after “You know you’re married to an asshole right?”
I sighed, throwing a random stuffie at Chris with a soft smile, making Chris chuckle as well. It wasn’t funny what Hawk had done, but we laughed because Hawk and I had been acting like a married couple for so long, it was just normal now. As much as he needed to get smacked in the head a few times, I couldn’t imagine being with anyone else. We’re all a little insane aren’t we?

A few minutes later Sam had shown up, along with Demetri and two boys I didn’t know too well. Thank god.
“Hey, good to see you’re out of the house again” Sam nodded, pulling me into a hug
“Yeah” I nodded, pulling Demetri into a hug afterwards
“Where are they?” Sam asked
“They snuck into the old laser tag place nextdoor” Chris sighed
“How many?”
“Fou-” I tried to answer, pushing against my chest
Fucking work! Ugh! Demetri rubbed my back gently, but I pulled away from him, I was building on the edge of red and I wasn’t in the mood for sympathy right now
“Four of em” Chris said for me
“Five of us, I like our odds” Sam nodded
“Six” I corrected
“Are you sure you can do this?” Sam asked “I know you’re still-”
“Yeah” I cut her off, I’m not backing out of this
“Are you sure we should be doing this?” Demetri questioned
“We’re not on school property. This is our chance to fight back” Sam affirmed
We all nodded, storming off in a group towards the lazer tag room. As we got to the door I found a switch on the wall. I flicked it for fun, turns out it turned off all the lights, but everything was still bright from all the LEDs.
“Nice” Chris nodded
I shrugged, taking the lead of the group with Sam and storming through the place until we found Hawk and the goons. When hawk saw us all he scoffed
“What do you want?”
“Payback” Sam muttered
Believe it or not, Sam was the first one to strike. She kicked two of the boys in the face, Hawk took a swing at her next but she dodged it, that’s when I got in on the fight, sending Rickenberger away from her with a sidekick to the gut. Sam fought off Hawk pretty successfully, I wasn’t surprised, she was an amazing fighter. Demetri sent a kick to another one of the boys, sending him flying back successfully too. We were actually winning for once.
I was hit with a sudden kick to the face, I went flying onto my back, being hit by Mitch. I flipped myself onto my back, charging at him and sending multiple punches at his face, before landing one to his gut
“Who’s side are you on Harley!?” Mitch exclaimed
“The good side” Chris answered
I sighed, not what I would’ve said, but those two were fighting now, I’m not gonna correct him. I turned to see Sam had gotten Rickenberger to stay on the ground. But then something happened that we definitely didn’t expect.
“Sam Larusso!” Is that… “Where are you bitch?” that’s Tory
My eyes widened as Sam froze mid punch. I could practically hear her heartbeat pumping out of her chest. Sam and I had gotten it the worst from Tory at the school fight, and I knew it was affecting Sam hard. I quickly ran over to Sam, pulling her to her feet instantly.
“Sam- go- Go! Now!” I shouted, shoving her away
I started coughing as Sam ran away into a corner. I didn’t want her to have to deal with this. As I was hunched over coughing from my stinging throat, Mitch ran up and kicked me hard in the stomach, and I fell to my knees. I looked around, Chris was down, being ganged up on. I looked the other way, seeing Hawk and Demetri. Oh god no.
I pulled myself to my feet, kicking away anyone who came up to me, fighting them off. My lunges ached, I was still coughing, but it didn’t matter. It felt like everything was moving in slow motion…. Oh not again. I watched as Hawk got a hold of Demetri’s arm, flipping him around and holding his arm behind his back, in a breaking position.
“No!” I screamed, making my vocal chords feel like they could shatter at any moment.
I ran at Demetri, my head spun, and my ears started ringing. Push through the pain. Fight it. Life sucks, get over it. You’re supossed to be strong, so be fucking strong. Don’t be a pussy. Save your friends.
I hadn’t noticed one of the Cobra Kai boys standing beside me as I ran. I was hit with a hard kick to the gut, sending me toppling sideways, redirecting my momentum towards the gang of Cobra Kai’s standing in a huddle behind Demetri and Hawk.
“No! Please stop! Eli, stop! Stop!” Demetri begged
I lunged at the two, but multiple sets of hands all grabbed at me, holding me back from being able to do anything.
“Stop it!” I screamed, my throat aching more and more
“I-it’s me!” Demetri tried “Don’t do it! No! Help me!”
I ripped at the hands, but there were five of them, all gripping me hard, keeping me held back. I couldn’t fight it much longer, I was wheezing and I was getting dizzier with every breath I struggled to take.
“Do it!” Tory shouted.
Everyone was pressuring Eli to break Demetri’s arm, to finish him, just like Kreese had taught them all. I saw, for a split second, I saw him second guessing himself. I saw him fight the pure pressure and the want, the need to be the best. A split second seemed like hours to me if it meant a glimpse of Eli was still inside that cocky asshole shell he’d built around himself.
“Fight it!” I shouted over everyone “Fight it Eli! Please!”
Everyone was shouting things at him like ‘pussy!’ and ‘just do it!’ or ‘finish him!’. I saw the panic in Demetri’s eyes. I couldn’t believe this was really happening to us. What had happened to us!?
“No no- It’s fine, I’ll go!” Demetri surrendered
“Hawk finish him!” Tory shouted
“Eli no! Please!” I begged
But it wasn’t enough. The sure fire sound of cracking bones filled the room. Demetri screamed in pain and I yelled in protests trying to get to him. This was enough! I’ve had it! I threw my head back, head butting whoever was behind me. They let go of me, falling back on top of a few other boys, all letting go of me. I fell to my knees, my lungs basically given out at this point, but I kept going. I pulled myself over to Demetri, just as I reached him someone sent a hard kick to my back, knocking the wind out of me completely and sending me face planting onto the ground.
“Pussy” Tory muttered “You gonna finish her?”
I gasped for air, turning around to be on my back and leaning up on my elbows, looking up at Hawk and the rest of the guys. I locked eyes with Hawk, he stared down at me with a worried look, but when Tory said to finish me off too, there was a question in his eyes, there was debate. I can’t believe that.
“We….. are- done” I panted out, with whatever breath I had left
Hawk’s skin turned pale. He looked like he’d seen a ghost, maybe he had, I didn’t know. I didn’t care, I just wanted him to get the fuck away from us. Tory nudged him from behind, which seemed to jog him back to life. With clenched fists, and a cold stare, he lifted his foot up, sending it crashing down on my chest, sending burning pain through my body and seemed to knock the final life out of me.
“Good shit man”
“Nice”
The Cobra’s congratulated Hawk, a smile spread across his face at the praise. They all went to leave, Hawk stayed put for a few seconds, a worried and sorry look falling over his face. I layed there, almost completely still. What’s done, was done. We, were done.
Hawk left with the rest of the Cobra’s, Demetri still lay beside me, gasping and yelling in pain. My head fell to the side, my hand slowly inching towards Demetri’s body. Demetri started to sob, I rested my hand beside his, looking up at him, as tears fell from my eyes as well.
We hadn’t just been brutally injured physically. That was our best friend who had done that. That was my boyfriend-.... Or-.... shit. Demetri’s yells slowly turned into searing grunts. He slowly inched his hand towards mine, tilting his shaky head up to look at me. My eyes were half lidded, I wasn’t breathing. But as I slowly lost consciousness, I felt Demetri close his hand around mine. At least I have Demetri with me. Back to the hospital we go.
