" Babeee" Stephanie screamed after I picked her call. I don't understand why she would be calling in the middle of the night. I checked the time

12pm

" Why are you screaming and why aren't you sleeping yet?" I groaned

" And why are you also awake?" She retorted.

" I just finished a movie" I said smiling

" Well,I called you because I saw you were online. I was wondering what could you could be doing online at this time of the night. Tife told me not to call you but I did anyways" Stephanie said and I facepalmed myself.

" I just wanted to check for new messages before I sleep" I said smiling

" Is Tife there with you" I asked surprisedly

" Yes. We are in the sitting room. It's just both of us at home" Steph said

" Video call please" She said and I groaned, the call was disconnected before I could even protest. I switched on my data expecting her call.

I adjusted my hair bonnet and night wear before picking her call. Luckily for me the light in my room was on.

" Babe. Look at you" She said laughing.

" Steph, you have seen me like this countless times in the hostel" I said rolling my eyes. She was in regular clothes.

" Tife, come and see Wura" Stephanie shouted and I screamed internally

" Did you have to call him" I said shyly and pulled off my hair bonnet. Grandma had taken me to the hair dresser to make Ghana weaving earlier and the hairstyle is really pretty.

" Wura" She called

" What" I answered

" Why is it when I called Tife that you knew you will pull off your hair bonnet. So I can't see your new hairstyle too" She said with a playful frown, I chuckled silently

" Shebi you will still see it later" I said

" Tife, I said you should come and see Wura. She made a new hair" Stephanie said looking towards where he probably stood

" Where?" He asked

" Warehouse ni" She replied and I smiled at her banter.

" I don't have your time" He replied in the background

" Can't you see the phone in my hand. Video call" She said

" Hey Wura" Tife said with a smile after peeping into the phone.

" Hi Tife" I said smiling

" You look different. Oh your hair" He said, I smiled broadly

" Your hair is nice. You should do this kind of hair often. It makes your face more prominent and of course beautiful" He said and I twirled the braided part mindlessly.

" Honestly, that's the truth" Stephanie added

" Wura, can Stephanie come to spend the holiday with you. Please I'm tired of her troubles" Tife said pleadingly. I laughed, Steph pushed his head lightly

" She follows me everywhere. I don't know whether we are twins or something and she is also spending my money. Tife, I want to buy this, I want to buy that" Tife complained and I laughed.

" Well sorry, she stays in Ibadan" Stephanie said with a roll of eyes and I laughed.

" Really, you stay in Ibadan" Tife asked me

" Yes, I do" I answered with a smile

" Wow, that's not a problem. I can arrange for her to be delivered to your house" Tife responded smiling.

" Me delivered, am I a Good. Wait and see I will report you to Mum when she comes back" Steph hissed and pushed him from the phone.

" Leave Jare, what are you still doing here" Stephanie said to Tife with a frown, pushing him off.

" Goodnight Tife" I said waving at him, he waved back before leaving.

" I'm very sure if I leave this house for just a day, Tife will miss me" Steph said

" So how was your day" She asked

" Fine, the same cycle everyday. Sleep, watch movies, eat and sleep again" I said

" That's must be pretty boring" She answered and I smiled

" You can say that again" I said

" I follow Tife wherever he goes or I just stay at home and watch movies if I feel like. I go on dates sometimes too" She said

" Dates with who" I asked teasingly

" Some friends of course, girls" She responded, she turned around probably looking for Tife and whispered

"There was one of Tife's friends that asked me to go on a date with him" She added and I laughed

" Is Tife aware and did you go or are you going" I asked

" Calm down, three questions in one sentence" She said and we laughed

" But I went ooo, we went to this nice restaurant. Tife doesn't know. He mustn't know" Steph said whispering the last words.

" How was the guy" I asked

" He is okay but I don't trust him" She said with a frown

" Why?" I asked

" I just have this feeling that he is a bad guy. He doesn't really give out bad vibes, he is very handsome, like he is the most handsome friend Tife has ever had, to me and all those handsome guys, you can't trust them" She paused to look around before continuing

" But you see, he is Tife's friend and I'm Tife's younger sister. The guy has a way with words mehn. I was just smiling throughout" Steph said

" Did he say he wants to date you?" I asked

" He did after the date. Immediately I saw the money he spent on the date, I knew it wasn't a friendly gesture. I haven't answered him yet but I plan to tell him No tonight before sleeping and that is why I called you" Steph said

" Why you called me" I repeated

" Yes because I know you will solidify my mind on saying No. I'm reluctant because the guy is really cool" She answered with a pout.

" Is he close friends with Tife" I asked

" Not really, they are like acquaintances" She replied

" I don't know what to say ooo because I don't have experience on things like this but let your brain lead you. Your brain is telling you this guy isn't good for you and your heart is saying otherwise" I said in thought and she laughed.

" I know, but I'm curious. Have you ever had a crush on a boy in secondary school or maybe church" She asked with a teasingly smile.

I groaned

" Maybe, maybe not. I don't know" I answered

" You don't know or you have or had" She answered still laughing

" I'm not sure" I answered smiling

" Steph leave me alone. It's 1am already. I want to sleep" I added

" Okay oo, I know you are trying to avoid the question but don't worry. I will still know one day" She said smiling

" Good night" I said smiling. There was a boy I liked when I was like thirteen or Fourteen, He is the son of one of the Deacons in our Church. I didn't know I liked him then but I just knew I liked seeing him and he was very handsome to me. I chuckled as I remembered how I always liked to dress very well whenever I know he will be in a gathering I was going. Well, the thing is that he never noticed me.

Even before they located to Lagos, my crush for him had disappeared.

" Dad pass me the oil" I said as I stretched my hand forward to my Dad standing at my right hand. He was mixing the Akara mixture we wanted to fry.

Grandma travelled to see one of my Father's siblings so it was just both of us at home and we have to eat and so that is why we are both in the kitchen struggling to fry Akara.

" I hope this Akara ends up well" Dad said

" It should, I followed everything Grandma said I should do and I have seen her and Mum fry it countless times in my presence" I said as I placed a spoonful of the mixture into the hot oil.

" We will eat it anyhow it comes out. Don't worry" Dad responded

" Dad, have some faith. I even prayed before starting to fry it" I said, he smiled

" Okay" He responded

" What about the other friends you made, it's only Stephanie I know about" He said to me

" Stephanie is the closest friend I made, my other good friends are Dieko and Bisola" I answered smiling

" Stephanie looks like a good friend. Is she is good Christian?" He asked

" I can't really say but she is not a bad influence on me at all" I answered smiling

" You should talk to her about Jesus or don't you" He said

" Of course I do Dad but I feel the holy spirit telling me to take baby steps" I replied

" That's right" He said nodding his head

" She befriended me first and at first,I thought she would stop being my friend one day but she has surprised me by always tagging along with me. She always tries to blend in with me and I learn a lot from her. She is my very good friend" I said with a smile

" Awwn" My Father responded

" Daddd" I said and punched him playfully

" Wura please, be careful with the frying oil" My Dad warned.

" What about boys" My Dad asked, I whipped my head towards him.

" Which boys" I asked

" Like is there any boy trying to get close with you or do you like a boy" He asked with a straight face.

" No one" I answered

" Seriously" I asked again

" Seriously" I replied

" Are you sure" He asked again

" Yes I'm sure" I answered

" For real" He asked again

" Dad, I said No" I said frustratedly

" You have only spent one semester in school but I know they will soon come and when they come Wura, they are not good for you" He said

" Dad, you are so funny. Am I the only girl in school" I answered with a little laugh.

" Wuraoluwa, you are a gem. You are golden and you are also a gift from God so of course I need to protect you. Please Wura, always remember how important you are to God and me. Don't let your feelings and emotions override you and also don't let sugarcoated words deceive you" He said and I nodded with a smile

" Looks like Wura is now a good cook" Dad remarked as he picked one of the Akara to eat.

" Dad, you are not suppose to eat it na" I groaned.

" Sorry, I just wanted to taste. It's very sweet" He said smiling

" That's minus one from your own" I answered and he looked confused. I chuckled

" Wura,I'm the one buying the foodstuffs" He answered

" And I'm the one frying it" I said teasingly

" Can you imagine. Come and be going back to your school" He said and picked another piece of Akara.

" Minus two from your own" I said with a smile

" When you finish frying that Akara, it's me that will share it" He said and I laughed.

" Daddy, you will see drama today" I said laughing
