Kenta POV
The training camp continued going well, with the students continuing to train hard as I continue to keep a watchful eye on them.
"I wonder what I'm gonna do about Mei once I get back home..." I ask myself as I watch the students attempt to make themselves some food
I take out my phone and hover my finger over Mei's contact.
"Sigh...Maybe I can convince her that it was her imagination" I say
The evening goes on as I watch from the trees as the classes each eventually finish making curry and digging in.
"Hey uh, S-Spider-Man. I-If you'd like...you can have some as well. It's probably not that g-good but we did our best" I hear one of the students say
I look from the trees and see Kyoka Jiro holding up a bowl.
"Guess I'll think about it later" I think as I turn off my phone
I zip over near her and gladly take the bowl.
"This better not be a way to try and see what's under my mask" I joke
"O-Of course not! I wouldn't never do that!" She panics
"I kid I kid. Even a vigilante like me has gotta eat sometime" I say
"Of course! You're still a person too!" She says a bit tense
"You doing okay there? You seem a bit tense" I say
"She's just freaking out cause she's a big fan of yours" Kaminari smugly says
"Shut your mouth!" She shouts while stabbing the poor guy's eyes with her earjacks
"That's why you don't make a woman mad..." I say
"It's not like she's the only one!!" Kaminari cries
"Yeah man, a lot of us here think you do some good work" Sero says
"While I disagree with your vigilantism, I cannot deny the fact that you help people greatly" Yaoyorozu says
"Oh shucks guys. You're making a spider blush here" I say
The evening goes on, eventually turning to night as I occasionally chat with the students while watching over them. After a while though, eventually comes for all of them to head to bed and I start patrolling around the area.
"Those kids are really one of a kind. Makes me almost wish I was in the hero course just so that I could hang out with both classes. I also shouldn't really be calling them kids considering I'm their same age" I say to myself
Suddenly my phone starts to ring again and I look to see that it's Mei trying to face call again.
"Maybe I can hide somewhere and take my mask off to answer..." I ponder
As I'm looking at my phone, I feel like I see something atop a cliff side out of the corner of my eye. I quickly turn to look and see nothing there.
"I guess it was nothing..." I think
I ultimately decide to just not answer my phone and go back to patrolling. But little did I know, that not investigating further upon that cliff side would be something I would greatly regret...
The next day...
"Hey, extra lesson group, don't stop" Erasurehead says as he pulls Kirishima's head up with his scarf
"Got it!" He exhaustedly says
"Sorry, I'm a bit sleepy..." Ashido says
"I didn't think last nights lessons...would go to 2AM..." Sero says
"Come on you guys, sometimes heroes have to stay up for multiple days and nights depending on the mission. I mean, I've only gotten about 7 hours of sleep since we got here!" I say trying to cheer them up
"That doesn't make it any better..." Kaminari sulks
"Well I tried..." I say
I quickly decide to slip away for a moment to finally try and contact Mei.
"I just hope nobody comes looking for me right now" I say to myself
I find a secluded place and after double checking to make sure nobody can see me, I take off my mask and get out my phone.
"Alright Kenta, here goes nothing" I say
I go to turn on my phone...but It doesn't turn on. I tap and press on it again but it eventually shows that it's battery is dead.
"Great...If only I had an electric quirk like Kaminari" I sulk
I lean my head back against the tree and take a deep breath.
"Oh well...At least I can take a break from wearing the mask for a moment" I say
I close my eyes as my head rests upon the tree.
"Maybe I can just...rest my eyes for just a second" I say
I drift off slowly into sleep to the sounds of the wilderness and wind around me.
One good rest later...
"Spider-Man, Spider-Man do you hear me?" I hear Erasurehead's voice say from my earpiece
I quickly jolt awake, nearly falling out of the tree as I scramble to put my mask on.
"Y-Yeah I hear you! I-I was er...Taking a small rest, that's all!" I say
"Typically a small rest doesn't last the entire day" he says
I then look around and only just now notice that it's now nighttime.
"Oh shoot. I-I'm sorry Erasurehead. I didn't mean to fall asleep this long" I say while quickly swinging back over to camp
"It's fine. You're mostly needed during the night so it's no matter. The students are about to do a test of courage, curiosity of the Pussycats a bit from where the cabins are" he says
"A test of courage, huh? Are you gonna be my partner Erasey? I'll make sure to shield you from all those scary monsters!" I say
"Sigh...No, I'll be dealing with the extra lesson students. You're job is to just watch them like usual" he says
"Oh man...I really wanted to see what you're like when you're scared" I say
He doesn't respond as he just hangs up.
"I think he's warming up to me" I say
I quickly make it over to where the classes are and see that Class A has been split up into groups.
"Sorry I'm late. I wouldn't wanna miss this test of courage" I say
"The first team was just about to leave!" Pixie Bob says
"I'll try not to assist in the scares too much. But just make sure you watch out for webs in your hair" I say
I follow random groups around as 5 of them eventually all enter the forrest. But as I'm watching Uraraka and Tsu, I start smelling smoke.
"Could one of the students set their quirk off accidentally?" I think
I zip to the top of the trees and when I look above them, my eyes widen as I see plumes of black smoke and blue fire spreading around the forrest.
"That is definitely not one of the student's quirks!" I say
"Everyone!" I suddenly hear in my mind
"That's Mandalay's quirk!" I think
"We're being attacked by two villains! It's possible that there are more! Everyone who can move, get back to camp immediately! Even if you come across an enemy, retreat and do NOT engage!" She says
"Villains?! But I've been on patrol every night and haven't seen a trace of them!" I think
I quickly climb back down into the forrest and start swinging back through the forrest looking for any students I can find.
"I've gotta get all the students currently in the forrest back to camp immediately!" I think
As I'm swinging along, I start running into some sort of pink smoke. I analyze it with my mask and find out that if I breathe it in, it'll knock me out in a matter of seconds.
"Luckily my mask can filter out gases. But if the students breathe this in and get found...let's just hope it doesn't come to that" I think
Suddenly, as I'm swinging along something rushes past my web and cuts it down. I fall to the forrest floor where I quickly try to get back up to continue swinging, but I suddenly feel my back get deeply scratched.
"Oh come on Spider, don't try and run away so quickly" a familiar voice says
I quickly turn around and see Black Cat sitting in a tree above me.
"Black Cat! I don't have time for you right now!" I angrily say
I shoot a bunch of webs at her to try and stick her to the tree. But she swipes them away with her claws and jumps down from the tree.
"Temper temper. I know you don't have time, which is why we're here" she says
"We're?" I say
Suddenly, my spider sense goes off from behind me and I quickly dodge what would've been a huge punch to the back of my head. I turn around and see this huge black and white person with an extremely long tongue and teeth.
"Hello, Spider-Man" they say while licking their lips
"We didn't expect you too be here. But when Venom here spotted you last night, oh boy, it was difficult keeping them in place" Black Cat says
I quickly look back and forth between the two of them, trying to find some way of escape.
"What's wrong spider? Cat got your tongue?" She says
She lunges forward at me as I flip into the air to dodge her. But my spider sense goes of and I'm barely able to dodge an attack from this Venom person.
"This is not good, they definitely won't let me escape and I need to be searching for the students right now without them on my tail. I've gotta end this fight quickly" I think as I zip into the trees
"Come on Spider-Man! I've been wanting to munch on you for a long time now!" Venom says
"That's actually not the first time I've heard that believe it or not" I say as I web up Venom's legs and deliver them a punch straight to the temple
My spider sense goes off and I dodge an attack from Black Cat and web up her attacking arm to a tree and kick her right in the gut.
"Sorry guys, but I've got something more important to be doing-" I'm cut off by my spider sense as this huge tendril grabs me by my chest and slams me back and forth between the trees
"Oh I think you'll find our fight quite important" Venom says
I manage to free myself from the tendril and clumsily zip away to a tree. Only to be greeted with a cat scratch to the back again from Black Cat. I try to counter attack her but she quickly ducks over to behind Venom.
"Come on Spidey, this'll be nothing but a hunter playing with their prey at this rate" she says
I regain my composure and look back over to the two of them as I get into a fighting stance.
"Alright then, no more mister nice spider" I say
I web up Venom's arm and expectedly, he grabs onto the webline and pulls me over to him. I use the momentum to quickly slide underneath him and I web Black Cat to the back of Venom and then web the back of Venom's head and pull down as hard as I can.
"Didn't know getting squished was a cat's thing" I quip as I quickly dodge out of the way
As I'm in the air, a tendril shoots out of the side of Venom and grabs ahold of my arm. He slams me back onto the ground as they quickly recover from the fall. Black Cat cuts the web off her and lunges at me.
"And I didn't know getting used as a cat scratch was a spider's thing" she says
She goes to stab me with her claws, but I use the tendril that's on my arm to black the claws, but I'm then pulled directly over to Venom's grasp where he grabs me by the neck.
"Oh I'm gonna savor every bite of you" he says
"I hope you get a stomach ache" I choke out
As I'm held up, I feel a long and drawn out scratch on my back as I struggle not to cry out in pain.
"I don't wanna have to do this spidey, but I do what I'm paid to do" Black Cat says
I look around for any means of escape as I can feel the breathe be squeezed out of me. I then manage to come up with a plan as I look at Venom's arm.
"You guys should really learn to stop hitting yourselves" I choke out
I then wrap my legs around Venom's arms and lean back so that I can look at Black Cat. I then extend my arms towards her and connect both my webs onto her shoulders and pull as hard as I can. She comes flying forward as I quickly revert my position. Black Cat gets flung into Venom's fist and I use the chaos to break free from his grip and get some distance.
"Can't we call this a truce already? You go to jail and I walk free to save the students?" I say
"I'm done playing defense!" Venom shouts
"Wait, you were playing defense-?" I'm cut off as Venom charges at me with amazing speeds
I'm barely able to react in time and Venom sends a punch that breaks a bit of the ground behind me. Zip into the air and land a punch to the back of his head.
"I don't appreciate you ruining my hairdo" Black Cat says as she sends a flurry of swipes and stabs at me
"Oh well I'm sure there'll be a nice stylist in prison" I say
I'm able to land a punch on her side, but I feel her attach something onto my back as she flips away.
"Bet you forgot that I have gadgets" she says
I feel an electric shock on my side as I rip the device off.
"Heh, beg you forgot that I do as well" I say
My web bomb goes off as Black Cat is completely wrapped up in webs.
"Now for big ugly-" I'm cut off as my spider sense activates and I dodge to the side to avoid an attack from Venom
I counter with another punch to the head as he reacts with his own punch into my stomach.
"Everyone! We've found out that the League is targeting a student named Kacchan! Kacchan if you're there, make it back to camp as soon as possible!" I hear Mandalay's voice say
"I'm pretty sure that's that Bakugo kid, but what does the league was with him?!" I think as I manage to zip onto a tree
I quickly toss all my web bombs onto Venom as they set off and wrap him up in web.
"Sorry to cut this short...guys. But I've gotta get to Bakugo and the other students and I don't have time to deal with...you two anymore" I say while catching my breath
"Venom! We can't let him get to Bakugo! Do something!" Black Cat shouts
With what sounds like a screech/roar, Venom bites down into my web and rips it off. He then immediately after shoots one of his tendrils at me and I'm able to dodge out of the way and web the tendril to the tree.
"Didn't you listen? I just said that I need to-" I'm then hit with another tendril from Venom and send flying into a tree
"I'm gonna rip you limb from limb!" He roars while dashing over to me
I'm grabbed by the legs before I'm able to recover and I'm slammed around everywhere. I'm then thrown to the ground and I start getting dragged back over to him. He then stomps on my already messed up back and plants his foot on it and presses down hard.
Black Cat POV
I watch as Venom goes completely insane on Spider-Man. As as he plants his foot on his back, and opens his jaw wide. About to clamp down on Spider-Man's head.
"Sorry Spidey, that's just how this job works" I think as I continue to cut my way out of the web
I'm then able to hear something from him.
"I've gotta...save the students...I can't let them be hurt..." I hear him groan as he tries to push against Venom's foot
"This guys about to lose his head and he's still thinking about those students..." I think
When I look closer, I'm able to see a rip in his eye lense, and inside the mask I'm able to see a green eye start to tear up.
"I'm so gonna regret this" I think
With a burst of strength, I cut my way out of the webs and throw a few smoke bombs into Venom's mouth.
"Black Cat! What are you doing?!" Venom roars as he reals back and claws at his mouth
"Some jobs just aren't worth the money you get paid I suppose" I say
I pull Spider-Man up and try to get him back in the game.
Kenta POV
"Black Cat...?" I groan as I'm being helped stand up
"Listen, we don't speak of this. Let's just take this lug down and go our separate ways" she says
"Heh, I knew you had a good side" I say
I get as focus and in the game as I can as the two of us stand against Venom.
"Fine then, I'll enjoy ripping both of your limbs off!" Venom shouts
He charges at the both of us and throws his huge fist as me. I dodge and counter by webbing his fist to the ground as Black Cat climbs onto his back and wraps a rope around his neck. She then jumps off and pulls on Venom's neck as I go in with a massive hit on his head.
"ENOUGH OF THIS!" Venom roars
He used his other hand to grab onto the robe behind his neck and pulls Black Cat towards him. He then throws her into my and then two of us fly into a tree.
"Ugh...Don't you know any of this guy's weaknesses?" I ask
"If I did I would've said so!" She says
The two of us scramble back up and as we look back at Venom, we see him roar over at a bit of blue fire that's managed to spread its way over here.
"Crazy idea, but lets try and get him near that fire" I say
"Seems plausible, but the hard part will actually be doing it" she says
"I'm sure we'll manage" I say
The two of us charge at Venom and I web up his face as Black Cat gets behind him and kicks the back of his leg so that he falls over onto one knee. I then web Venom's chest and pull as hard as I can to have him stumble over closer to the fire.
"No! I'm not getting near those flames!" He screeches
He rips off the webbing on his face and then grabs ahold of a tree. He then completely rips it out of the ground and throws it at the two of us.
"Cat get behind me!" I say
She does and I web two trees that are besides us and as the three reaches us, I place my feet onto the side of the tree and slingshot it back to Venom with all the strength I can muster in my legs. The tree guys Venom straight in the chest and knocks him into the flames
"NO! NO! Get me out of here!" He screeches and roars
It then looks like the black all around him starts to retreat back into his body and reveals someone inside. I quick pull the person out of the fire and when I look at them, I'm completely shocked to see that it's my old classmate Akira Akoi.
"Damn, I didn't think he'd be the same age as these students" Black Cat says
"I...I know this guy. I went to junior high with him..." I say
"Wow...so you're the same age as the students as well?" She asks
"I-I mean! Nothing! It's nothing!" I quickly say as I set down the passed out Akira and web him up
"Sigh...Fine. I confess that I'm about the same ages as the students too. I'm only saying this now that I know that you and I could have a thing going" she says will running her finger down my chest
"J-Just get outta here already! Next time I see you I will have to arrest you though!" I say
"Awe, is that a no? Well maybe one day, Spider. Until then, I suggest you go and help those students" she says while pointing behind me
I quickly look and see nothing. When I turn back I see that she's vanished into the forrest.
"I can't believe I let her go...No matter, I need to get to the students" I say
I go to start running, but as soon as I take a few steps o feel an immense pain in my back and chest.
"Yup...that's a few broken bones. My adrenaline must be...wearing off" I groan while gripping my chest and my breathing starts to slow
I power through the pain and start making my way back. As I'm running, I start to hear polite sirens, helicopters, and planes start arriving.
"Never have I been so glad that the police are here, maybe they'll be able to help us catch all those villains-" I'm cut off as I stumble out of the woods to where the camp is, and see a bunch of passed out and injured students and even Pussycats. When I look around for Bakugo...I find no sight of him.
"Bakugo, where is he?!" I ask as I run over to Erasurehead
"Spider-Man...he's gone. The league got him" He says while looking down
"No...I was too late" I say while gripping my fists
I had failed to do the one job I was brought here for...I look around at all the passed out and injured students as I hold back my tears.
"Erasurehead...I'm so sorry. I'll find my own way back home" I say
"Spider-Man wait!" He says as he grabs my shoulder
I shrug his shoulder off me as I start webbing my way down the main road. Tears now flowing down my face underneath my mask.
"The Amazing Spider-Man is nothing more than The Amazing Failure..." I think as my vision starts to darken...
