The Southern Water Tribe

You were dangling your hands down in the water as everyone else just chilled around. Katara crawled over to Aang.

"Hey"

"Watcha thinking about?" Aang asks, already giving her undivided attention.

"I guess, I was wondering, since you being an air bender and all, if you had any idea what happened to the Avatar?" She asked.

My head snapped, but Sokka was too busy staring at the sky to notice. Aang looked to me for a spilt second and I shook my head and waved my hand in a chopping sideways motion over my neck.

"I didn't know him, I mean, I knew people that knew him, but I've never met him" Aang says, seeming to hide it well.

"Oh ok, I was just asking" Katara goes back to her spot, while you wiggle your fingers and hand in the water.

While Appa showed us the way to a nearby water tribe, Aang fell into a deep slumber. You used air bending to move him to another area so he could see. Katara lead you over to a small tent he could rest in.

"Gran gran!" I heard Katara yell.

I pushed one of the curtains away and walked out of the tent. Katara was leading an old lady over to me. Sokka following with a group of young boys not far behind.

"Gran gran, this is y/n." Katara says, introducing me to the woman. "I'll go get Aang!"

Katara then walked into the tent and woke up Aang. While she was doing that, the rest of the people living around here walked up to me. You fiddled with your hands since you didn't know what to do.

Aang and Katara came out. Aang was still as happy as ever.

"Aang, y/n this is our entire village, entire village met Aang and y/n" Katara said.

There wasn't a lot of people who lived here. Aang and I bowed, but some mother pulled their children closer to them. Were they scared of us?

"Why are they looking at us like that?" Aang asks. "Did Appa sneeze on me?"

"Did we do something wrong?" I ask.

"No one has seen an air bender in a hundred years" The one Katara called Gran gran said, stepping out of the crowd. "We all thought they were extinct until my grandson and granddaughter found you two"

"Extinct?" Me and Aang said at the same time. We were both shocked.

Surely someone must have come over to some nation. I went to earth kingdom with Aang only two months ago. And I visited the fire nation yesterday. God, they have good food.

"This is my grandmother" Katara says, ignore the fact we don't know the air nomads are no longer extinct.

"Call me Gran gran" The woman said.

Sokka then walked to were mine and Aang's gliders were. He took them in his hands and walked back over to us.

"What are these weapons? You can't stab anyone with this" He pouts.

"it's not for stabbing" I roll my eyes.

"its for air bending" Aang's eyes gleamed as he took his glider back and then took mine and handed it to me.

Aang then ended up flying around in his glider to prove his point to Sokka that he could 'fly'. I let out a simple one 'ha!' when he flew straight into the random snow tower. Sokka freaked out and ran to Aang...no, he ran to the tower. Me and Katara went to Aang.

While Sokka was mourning his tower a huge chunk of it flew down on him.

"Should've been quicker than that"

"He's the one who hit my my watchtower!" Sokka yelled as you stuck out your hand to help him.

I don't think he noticed it as he glared at Aang and sat up without your help.

"great. You and Aang are air benders, Katara's a water bender. Together you can waste time all day long." Sokka said, dusting the snow off him.

"you're a water bender!?" Aang said, all his attention going to Katara.

"Well, sort of" Katara grabbed her arm and looked at the ground.

"Alright, no more playing, you have your chores to do" Gran gran came up behind us.

You didn't know exactly what to do, so you walked around the village. It seemed quite peaceful. You went looking for Sokka since he didn't seem to have anything to do. Annoying him would keep you occupied.

"Hey" You say when you find him.

"Hi" he said, eying you as you sat down next to him.

"I'm sorry about your watchtower, I'm sure Aang didn't mean it" You say, not really sorry.

"Thank, I guess" He says "I have warriors to train, you can watch, but don't come too close since I don't trust you yet"

"Did you say yet?" You say, trying to match his sarcasm from before.

When Sokka said warrior, he really meant children. I mean, there was little kids were younger than Aang, they were like 5 and training as a warrior. What even for? Was this a game. of course it's a game.

Sokka then went on about a speech. Something abut courage, men and warriors. He walked around like a general. You were about to leave until some little kid said:

"I gotta pee!"

"There aren't any potty breaks!" Sokka said.

"Let the kid pee, Sokka. Don't be mean!" You say.

"Stay out of this y/n" Sokka said warningly.

"But I really have to go!" The kid whined.

"Okay, who else has to go?" Sokka asked. Literally all the kids raised their hands. And Sokka, well he smacked his hand on his forehead.

The little boys then made their way over to a toilet.

"They are kids, you know" You say.

"But they need to be men, we don't have time to be kids anymore" Sokka said, this made you think that maybe it wasn't a game.

"That reminds me, all the adults in the village, there all women. Your the oldest boy here, were are all the men?" You asked.

"They all went to-"

"Sokka! Y/n!" Katara interrupted Sokka "Do you know where Aang is, Gran gran said he went missing about an hour ago"

As if on cue, Aang walked out of an igloo saying something that made the kids all laugh.

"ugh! Get him out of here! This is for warriors only!" Sokka said, getting a tad bit angry.

'Sokka, they are literally 5 years old, they don't need to be warriors, they want to have fun and look! they are!" You said, pointing over to them as they slide down Appa's tail.

"Stop! Stop it right now!" Sokka ignored you. "We don't have time for fun and games with a war going on!"

"What war?"

"Your kidding, right?' Sokka asks, unamused by your question.

"Penguin!!" Aang yelled as he sprinted faster than I've ever seen straight at a penguin in the snow.

"Can't control himself" You sigh, shaking your head.

"I'm gonna go follow him!" Katara says, running after him.

"If you don't mind, what do you mean by war?" You turn to ask Sokka, but he wasn't anywhere near you now.

You sigh and go over to Appa. When you pat him, he nuzzles against your hand in comfort.

"Hey buddy, how you doing?"

He lets out a bored groan.

"yeah, I know exactly how you feel."

It wasn't long until a strange smoke signal went up in the sky, Sokka was the first to notice it. He instantly ran over to you, gripping you by the rim of your collar and shook you with little force.

"What did you do?!" He yelled in your face.

"The hell? What do you mean? I've been here for like, the entire day!" You asked, gripping his hands and shoving them off you.

"Then Why? Is there a smoke signal in the sky?! And where might your little friend be?!" He questioned, throwing his hands into the air.

"I don't know! I don't follow him around like an over-protective parent! I have no clue to where he is-" You stopped mid sentence. You had no idea where Aang was. Was he okay? Was he hurt? He's not dead is he? No, he couldn't be. Panic started to get the best of you.

Where was Aang?
