I had tried to ask her for her phone number today, but it was harder than I had initially thought.
"So... does Smiley have a phoney?" I asked, cringing at my attempt at being funny.
Riley had rolled her eyes and leaned back into the bench she was sitting on. "Are you trying to flirt, Spidey?" she had asked, a smile curling up the ends of her mouth. "Trying to get me caught up in your web?"
I rolled my eyes right back at her. "Maybe I am," I said, bravely. "So what?"
"I don't get caught," she had said, giving me a weak smile. Her eyes were kind of sad, which made me wonder what she meant with that. "But when I do, I get tangled."
"It would be my privilege to get tangled with you," I spoke quickly, then realised the meaning behind my words. A blush covered my cheeks and I rubbed the back of my head awkwardly. "I-"
"Bye, Spidey," she had laughed, kissing my cheek afterwards and patting my leg slightly. I was left there, on that very bench, staring at the girl that boggled my mind.
What I hadn't noticed, was the small piece of paper carefully placed on my lap, containing Smiley's phone number.
