(A/N- Guess who got their hair cut today (well, when I typed this up at least)! That's right, no more bangs in my face as I type! *maniacal laughter*
Anywho, my friend in Art class told me something that happened in Brotherhood (I SWEAR I'M GONNA WATCH IT SOON I HAVE A DATE PLANNED AND EVERYTHING) where Al's helmet hair gets shortened and he's all upset about it. My brain thought this would be an absolutely adorable thing to write about, so here you go!
About the picture, that's another WIP pic of my second, extremely detailed Alphonse plush. I'VE BEEN MAKING IT FOR OVER 3 WEEKS AND IT'S STILL NOT EVEN CLOSE TO DONE! Oh well, it will be worth it when I cuddle him X3.
Okay, onto the story!)
You watched Winry expectantly as she talked on the phone with Ed. He had called to explain they were coming to visit, and eventually the pair had started going off and chatting about anything and everything.
"Really? Ah, poor Alphonse," Winry cooed.
You poked her in the arm, hoping to get an explanation out of her.
She gave you a questioning look, but chuckled when she realized what you were nonverbally asking about. "Huh? Oh, Al got his helmet hair cut short on accident. He's really upset about it, apparently."
You stared for a second, then audibly questioned, "Like, self-concious upset, or...?" You trailed off.
"Self-concious upset, I think," Winry answered.
An idea popped into your head. You picked up a hair brush you had set on the table earlier and ran it through your (h/c), waist-length locks. It had been allowed to grow for so long now, you honestly couldn't remember when you had last gotten it cut. It was a hastle to take care of, sometimes.
"Do you know when they're coming here?" You asked after your moment of silence.
Winry relayed your question to Ed, then turned back to face you. "Later tonight."
You stood from your seat, setting the brush back on the table. Grabbing a hair-tie, you set your hair in a long ponytail and started heading for the door.
"In that case, I have an errand to run. I'll be back later." You were out the door before Winry could question what said errand was.
Winry stared after you, but then snapped out of it when Ed's voice pulled her out of her trance.
*Time Skip brought to you by a certain adorable suit of armor*
Alphonse sighed, stepping off the train after his short brother. He missed the long hair his metal head had once held, now cut to a much shorter length. It had been basically his one way he could express himself through appearance. Now it was gone, and it would never grow back.
Ed turned around, having heard his little brother's noise of frustration.
"Still upset about the short hair?" he asked.
Alphonse looked up from the ground, then stared back downwards. "Yeah," he mumbled.
"Don't worry, (Y/n) will still love you. She is your girlfriend, after all. If she can deal with no body, she can deal with short hair," Ed reassured him. That made Alphonse feel SO much better.
The pair made their way to Winry's house, and were greeted by the smell of dinner in the making. Well, Al couldn't smell it, but Edward sure could.
"Aww, that smells amazing Winry!" Ed shouted as they entered.
Winry turned to face them from where she was standing in the kitchen. "Well it's nice to see you, too," she commented sarcastically.
Alphonse sighed again."Business as usual." He looked around the room, searching for you.
Winry caught on to who Al was looking for quickly, and told him, "(Y/n) said she had an errand to run, and would be back later."
"Wasn't that when we were talking on the phone?" Edward cut in.
Winry held a puzzled expression. "You're right. And that was hours ago. I wonder where she could be."
Like someone had magically summoned you, the group heard the front door open.
"I'm back!" You called.
"Speak of the dev-" Edward began, going to the entrance room, only to stop mid sentence. A long pause ensued as neither of you said anything.
"What? What's wro- Oh," Winry had now entered the room as well.
"What's going on guys? Why is no one saying anything?"Alphonse called, still in the other room, scared of you seeing him with short hair.
When the silence continued, you finally broke it, "Before you ask, I donated it to one of those services that use it to help cancer kids."
The statement peeked Al's curiousity. "Donated what? What did she donate?"
"Come in here and see for yourself," Wimry commanded instead of answering his question.
Al sighed, then at last entered the room. A gasp escaped the armor when he saw you.
You stood still, your new pixie cut hairstyle giving you a much different appearance than any of them were used to. No more down-to-the-waist hair. You were having trouble getting used to your new look as well, but it was a lot more comfortable than the previous weight on top of your head.
"Wow, you look a lot different with short hair," Winry commented, now that all of them could see you.
"Why did you cut your hair? It was so long before," Alphonse inquired.
You gave him an innocent look. "I heard about the whole 'short hair' debacle that happened with you, and how you were upset about it. So I decided to cut it so you wouldn't feel alone," you smiled.
"Oh my gosh (Y/n) that's adorable!" Winry squealed.
You chuckled at the outburst, turning back to Al. "Do you still feel bad about your short hair?"
Alphonse remained still for a few seconds, then put his hands up in an apollegetic manner. "N-no, not as much at least. But you didn't have to go and cut it!"
"I was thinking about doing it, anyways. You just gave me the motivation to do so. Is-is it too short?" You grew a bit worried, scared he didn't like the new look.
"N-no! I think it looks really cute!" Al hastily responded.
At this point, Winry was inwardly fangirling over how adorable you guys were. (A/N- She's showing her crazy-shipper side again. You guys are still her OTP X3)
Glancing over to her, you noticed her somewhat scary, yet happy, facial expression.
'She wants us to hug, doesn't she,' you thought to yourself. 'Let's tease her some more, shall we?'
"W-well, I think your short hair looks cute, too!" You said, blushing a little, even though this was a normal thing to say. It made you look adorable.
Alphonse looked at you with surprise. "R-really?"
You grinned, "Really."
He approached you, slowly giving you a hug. It would have been filled with serious love and/or gratitude, but Winry's fangirl squeal kind of ruined that.
"YOU GUYS ARE TOO ADORABLE!"
"Winry, shush! You're ruining our love hug!" You shouted at her.
"BUT YOU ARE!"
You made a string of shushing sounds, and that seemed to do the trick of shutting her up.
Everyone enjoyed the rest of the night, whether they were Team Long and Blonde Hair, or the Short Hair Squad, as you had dubbed yourselves. Now all you had to decide was whether to let your hair grow out again, or keep it short.
