(B/n)-Twin Brother's Name

You looked up at you twin brother, tears filling your eyes as you stared at him with sadness.
"But I don't want you to leave," you choked out.
(B/n) let out a sigh, stepping forward and giving you a hug.
"I've been accepted as a state alchemist, there's nothing I can do about it now. Besides, I want to help Ed and Al get their bodies back. And, the sooner they get them back, the sooner you can kiss Alphonse."
You blushed, pouting in your only-a-few-minutes-younger-sister way.
"It's not fair of you to make fun of me when you're going away."
"Don't worry," (B/n) ruffled your (h/c) hair. "I promise I'll stay safe and come back home. We're the only family we've got left anyway."
You looked down sadly. "Just like them, huh?"
"Yeah," he chuckled. "Just like them."
***3 Years Later***
Miss (Y/n) (L/n),
We regret to inform you that your brother, (B/n) (L/n), has been killed in action.
He is suspected to have been killed by the homunculi.
You will be compensated for your loss.
You have our deepest sympathy.
-Colonel Roy Mustang
Your shaking hands clutched the paper, tears streaming down your face.
He was dead. The one family member you had left was gone, and there was no bringing him back.
Suddenly you understood exactly why the Elrics had attempted human transmutation. They just wanted one last chance to see their mom's face, and you would have done the same for (B/n) if you didn't already know it was impossible.
You couldn't bear telling Winry or Aunt Pinako the news. So you crumpled the letter up and threw it in the trash. You wiped your tears away and practiced forcing a smile. You would keep your emotions hidden, make them think you were alright, that nothing was wrong.
You knew your disguise would one day fail, but that didn't stop you from trying.
A half-hour later, Winry and Aunt Pinako returned from their outing. Winry happily came over to you and hugged you.
"We're back!" She sang.
"Yes I can see that," you said kiddingly. Your voice gave no sign of the horrible news you had received while they were out.
"Anything happen while we were gone?" Aunt Pinako asked.
"Not really, the mail came, all of it's on the table," you lied. There was one letter missing.
"Glad to hear. Oh yeah, I have some good news!" Winry cheered.
'Good news. That's something I could use right now,' you thought, giving Winry a questioning look.
"Ed and Al are coming!"
"R-really, when?" You asked, genuinely curious.
"Tomorrow! I know, they should have given us more time to prepare, but Ed broke his automail. Again," Winry grumbled.
"No, I think it's more of a pleasant surprise," you told her.
'Maybe they can make me feel better. Let's just hope I don't explode into a sobbing mess.'

Alphonse was unintentionally taking up a large portion of the couch. It wasn't his fault he was so big, but you now had to sit relatively close to him, only a few inches separating you two.
Edward was smirking at his younger brother, who was honestly very nervous. You were a bit nervous to, not only because it was Al you were sitting next to, but also because you were worried your actual emotions would reveal themselves.
"Don't sit too close to (Y/n), Al. You'll have (B/n) to deal with if you hurt her,"Ed said.
"Brother!" Alphonse whined.
Had this been under normal circumstances, you would have been blushing like a maniac. But instead, you just stared down at your hands in silence.
'He doesn't know, don't get mad at him,' you warned yourself.
"(B/n)'s off searching for the Philosopher's stone anyway. Now's your chance, Alphonse!" Winry called from the kitchen.
You were restraining yourself from blowing up in their faces at that remark.
'How can they joke about him not being here!? They don't know he's gone, but with what he was researching they shouldn't be joking about it anyway!'
"Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom," you lied, standing up and leaving the room.
You walked into the restroom, closed the door, locked it, then slid down to the floor as you leaned on the door.
'How can I keep this up? I'm not going to be able to contain myself for much longer.'
You pressed your ear to the door, deciding to stay there and listen in instead of risking breaking down in front of all of them.
"Why haven't you told her how you feel? It's obvious you love her," you heard Edward saying.
You sighed to yourself.
'They're probably talking about some girl they met on their travels. It wouldn't surprise me, my life seems to hate me right now anyways.'
"Yeah, you should really tell her. I'm almost positive she feels the same way," Winry added.
Silence came from the other side of the door.
"Well, why haven't you confessed to her?" Ed broke the silence.
More silence, until Alphonse seemed to let all his emotions out at once.
"BECAUSE I'M A STUPID TIN CAN! SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL AND SMART AND KIND AND PERFECT, AND I'M TRAPPED IN THIS!" You heard him pound his chest, metallic echoes resounding. "HOW COULD SOMEONE AS AMAZING AS HER EVER LOVE ME! (Y/N)'S TOO PERFECT! THAT'S WHY I CAN'T TELL HER I'M IN LOVE WITH HER!" With that, you heard Al stomp out of the room, and eventually the slam of a door announced he had stormed out of the house.
You stayed on the bathroom floor against the door, shock filling you.
'He, loves me. Al loves me. And I've been too blind to see,' you chuckled slightly, a sad, depressed chuckle. You slowly stood up and opened the door.
Edward and Winry turned and looked at you as you entered the room.
"Did, you hear any of that?" Winry asked.
"All of it," you smiled weakly.
"(Y/n)?" Edward asked, a worried expression coming across his face. You looked back into his eyes.
"Why are you crying?"
Your hand slowly moved up to your face, and was met with dampness when you touched below your eyes. A small upset chuckle left your throat, and you tried to stop your tears from following. But no matter how much you tried, they wouldn't stop. Your weak smile suddenly turned to a frown, and you shut your eyes tightly as you ran out of the house in the same direction Alphonse had fled.
As your legs carried you, your tears continued to pour down. A mixture of sadness over your twin's death, anger at the homunculi, frustration with your blindness to how people wanted to help you, joy over that Al loved you in the same way you loved him. Your swirling torrent of emotions was rearing itself, bringing out some emotions you weren't even aware you had. They were all combining into the constant stream of tears leaking from your (e/c) orbs.
Drip.
You felt a drop hit your forehead. With blurry vision, you looked up at the sky.
'Rain clouds. It's like the sky is crying with me. Is it trying to comfort me in all my grief?'
A gray sky looked sadly down on you, dropping moisture back to earth as your running slowed to jogging, then to walking. You stared forward and realized you had reached the lake. You walked to the edge of the bank, collapsing to your knees as memories of your twin brother, the Elric brothers, Winry and you exploring and playing around this place came rushing back to you.
Your tears refused to stop flowing, so you tried something different. Shouting to the sky.
"YOU IDIOT!" You yelled at yourself. "YOU'VE BEEN SO WRAPPED UP IN SELF PITY THAT YOU'VE BEEN KEEPING THE TRUTH FROM EVERYONE ELSE! THEY DESERVE TO KNOW! THEY WANT TO HELP YOU AND YOU CAN'T EVEN TELL THEM THAT HE'S DEAD! THAT (B/N) IS DEAD! AND HE'S NOT COMING BACK!"
Your hands were clawing through your hair as you shouted your heart out.
Unknown to you, Alphonse was only a short distance away. Similar to what had occurred with him, he was hearing everything you were saying perfectly clear.
"YOU COULDN'T EVEN TELL THAT ALPHONSE FELT THE SAME WAY ABOUT YOU! THESE PEOPLE LOVE YOU AND YOU'RE SHUTTING YOURSELF OFF FROM THEM! THEY'RE TRYING TO HELP YOU DUMMY! YOU THINK THEY HAVE ENOUGH TO WORRY ABOUT, BUT THIS IS SOMETHING THEY NEED TO KNOW!"
You were panting heavily as you finished your self-rant. The rain was now pouring down, getting you soaked, but you stayed on your knees. It felt good to shout it all out, but now you didn't know what to do. You slumped forward, looking downward.
The sound of rain clinking on metal approached you, but you stayed still. Suddenly the rain hitting you lessened slightly. You slowly looked skyward to see Alphonse leaning over you from behind, trying to stop any more rain from falling on you.
"H-hi (Y/n)," he said shyly.
You stared at him for a moment, before standing up and turning around to hug him. He was still leaning over slightly, so you could actually wrap your arms around his neck for once. Your tears were still going strong, but they were slowly lessening. Alphonse carefully hugged you back, afraid you would end up breaking if he hugged you too hard in your current state.
"I have some explaining to do don't I?" You chuckled weakly, face to the side of Al's head, mouth near where his ear would normally be.
"Y-yeah, I suppose you do. But you don't need to tell me right now if you don't want to," Alphonse said gently.
You stayed hugging like that for a little while, before you slowly pulled away.
"W-would you mind carrying me back to the house? I don't really want to walk right now," you told him quietly.
"Sure," Al cautiously picked you up bridal style, and you snuggled up against his chest plate. It was cold and wet from the rain, but you didn't care.
In the short walk back to the Rockbell's house, you managed to fall asleep in Al's arms.
When Alphonse entered the house, carrying you in from the rain, Edward and Winry raced over to him.
"Is she okay!? She ran out of here crying earlier and we were scared to death about where she was!" Winry shouted at the armored boy.
"Y-yes, she's fine. She's just upset about something big right now. I heard her shouting, and it sounded like she kept it secret to try to keep us from worrying about her," he answered her.
"What was she upset about?" Ed asked.
Alphonse looked down at you sadly, staying silent for a few seconds before finally answering.
"(B/n) is dead."
Edward and Winry's facial expressions changed in a heart beat.
"W-what do you mean, dead?" Winry asked, voice wavering from shock.
"How did he die?" Ed asked a second after, sounding a bit angry. His fists were clenched at his side.
"I don't know. You'll have to ask (Y/n) later. But right now, she needs rest. I'm gonna go put her in her room." Alphonse pushed past them and headed up the stairs. He was upset about you twin brother's death, too. You two had been as close as him and Edward were, so he knew how hard it must have been for you. But right now, he needed to be strong for you. You needed someone to listen, to comfort you. And he would be that person if you wanted him to be.
When you both had reached your room, he pulled the blanket up so he could set you down under the covers. After he tucked you in, he turned to leave, but was surprised when your hand reached out and grabbed his own.
"Wait," you pleaded. "Can you stay with me? L-last night I had a bad dream, a-and I'm scared I'm gonna have another one."
Alphonse automatically pulled a chair from the corner of the room to sit down next to your bed. He took your hand in his shyly, and answered.
"Of course. Try to get some sleep though. It'll help you."
"But then you'll be all alone, we can't have that," you said, half being serious and half joking.
"I'll be okay. I'll have your smile to look forward to in the morning to get me through the night."
"How am I supposed to sleep when you say cute things like that? You're making me want to stay up," you said, blushing slightly. Your tear-fest and shouting seemed to have helped restore you to your usual self, even if just by a little.
"Just go to sleep, (Y/n). Please."
"Alright, but only cause you said please."
Alphonse sighed at your somewhat childish behavior. "Goodnight (Y/n)."
"Goodnight Al. I love you," you said, closing your eyes.
Alphonse looked surprised at you. He had forgotten that was one of the things you had shouted about in your yell-at-the-sky-athon. But soon he answered back.
"I love you too, (Y/n)."
