Running through the branches, the little red head was giggling her head off as her short hair collected leaves when she burst out the bush.
"FAE! Get back here! I need to get pay back for scaring me!" Another laugh had burst out as the boy had finished.
"You really think Faelyn of all people would just follow what anybody says! HA! WRONG!" A boy appeared right in front of her, His black hair and blue eyes gleaming with playfulness.
"Caught you..!" The boy grinned.
"AHH! CORBETT!" The girl screeched before making a full U-turn and running the opposite direction. She leaped over a large tree trunk and just dropped there to hide.
"Ohhhh Fae~ Where are you my sweet devil like sister!~" Corbett giggled to himself. He was looking behind trees and pushing bushes out of the way.
As the girl was holding back a giggle, unknowing to her the boy who she scared was creeping up behind her.
Sudden wrap of the boys hands around her waist made her shriek in surprise.
"Oh! Found her Zim!?" Corbett wheezed as he heard his little sister's familiar scream.
"Yep! I GOT MY REVENGE!" The boy grinned happily, hugging the little girl. His blonde fuzzy hair that covered his head seemed to contradict his darker toned skin. His red eyes gleaming in the bright sun light.
"Ziiiiimmmmrrriiii!!" The girl complained, dragging out the boy's name.
"What! You should've been expecting this if your gonna scare somebody!" Zimri laughed, Corbett the girl's brother snickered.
"You two are so mean sometimes..!" she pouted, her cheeks puffing out.
"Oh don't be like that, are you angry with us?" Corbett squatted down to his knees, patting her head, both his blue eyes were the same, no scar that stretched from his forehead all the way across his chest. His hair was a little short but was pulled back into a small ponytail.
The girl paused as the brother asked her. She relaxed into the head pats and she giggled for a bit.
"I can't be mad at you, Nii-san... After all, your my big brother..!" She smiled brightly.
The two boys glanced at each other and nodded to each other, almost having a mutual agreement in that one glance.
"Don't worry about anything that might be dangerous, your big brother and Zim will protect you..!" Corbett smiled back, giving her a hug as well.
"Really?"
"Really, really!"
"OKAY!" she giggled.
...
Sitting under a tree near the beach, the three friends sat in a circle with a book in the middle of them.
"So to look after this so called star, we have to travel through the seas and the ones who can do that are either pirates or marines." Zim explained thinking, his legs crisscrossed.
"Nii-san which one sounds more fun?" the girl looked up from the book.
"Of course the pirates!" Corbett grinned confidently.
"Why's that?" Zim tilted his head, crossing his arms as he looked back at the older friend.
"Well, Marines have to follow these strict rules and are always trying to get to higher ranks, but with pirates, they don't follow any rules. They literally go where they want and do what they want. And besides, being a marine will mean that we could get separated, I don't want that." Corbett said glancing at his little sister.
"Oh... I don't want that either.." The girl frowned.
"So pirates? Doesn't that mean we'll have to make a crew of them?" Zim leaned back on the tree, looking up through the branches.
"OOOHHH, this is sooo exciting! We're gonna be pirates, like Momma and Papa!" She rolled onto her back, kicking her feet excitedly.
"Right, But we need to name our crew, any suggestions?" Corbett held back a laugh, looking at Faelyn.
"Names... This is gonna be tough.." Zim muttered, "But it's also gonna be regarding us as we travel through the seas..."
"True..." She looked through the pages of pictures, "Why don't we name our selves after the book? Like the things in it, not the title itself." The girl mumbled to herself.
"You mean the rainbow bird things?" Zim questioned out loud, "Wait! Imagine our name as the Rainbow Bird Pirates!" He cackled out.
"Watch out! It's the Rainbow Bird Pirates! They're attacking! They might blind you with their bright colors!" Corbett wheezed out. Zim and Faelyn were dying in the back.
"No No! It's gotta be, OH LOOK! They're gonna throw some birds at people and then maybe some bird poop that look like rainbows!" The girl added, laughing so hard tears came falling out. Both Corbett and Zim were sounding like a tea kettle going off at a stove.
After awhile they calmed down and started brainstorming.
"What about what the rainbow birds ended up as at the end of the story?" Faelyn spoke up.
"You mean the Ravens and Crows?" Corbett leaned in beside her and looked down at the pictures of flying black birds.
"Okay... Raven and Crow something I like where your going with this.." Zim commented, "Let's see, Crow's are known to be a bad omen and Ravens are more of a wisdom thing."
"What's a group called for Raven and Crows..?" Faelyn asked.
"Hmmm a group of crows is called a murder while a group of ravens is called a unkindness. It's weird I know.."
"OOh that sounds like pirate thing.." Corbett smiled happily. Faelyn paused for a minute looking at her brother and friend for a minute.
Her face lit up as an idea popped up, "OH! What about umm, Crowhood or Ravenhood Pirates!"
Both boys leaned in with stars in their eyes at the names, they leaned back thinking which one is better.
"I personally think Crowhood is better." Corbett grinned satisfied, but the other two children knew exactly why.
"I like Ravenhood better."
"I want Ravenhood."
"EHH!? Why!?" Corbett whined.
"You only chose Crowhood because of your name, Nii-san." Faelyn giggled.
"Ya, doesn't it mean 'little crow'?" Zimri snickered, glancing up at the defeated boy.
"Fine... Whatever..." Corbett was now drawing circles in the sand, pouting.
...
Sitting on a boulder that sat close to the sea, Faelyn was watching her older brother and friend far away from each other with wooden sticks in a fighting position. Earlier they were deciding roles but when the role of Captain came up, they both wanted it, so now they're gonna have a duel to see whose stronger. The loser will be second in command. It's not that bad if you look at it.
"Here are the rules for this duel!" She called out, "The winner will be proclaimed when one side has surrendered or their weapon has been dropped. In battle, if you lose your weapon, your dead. So shall we start?" Faelyn clapped her hands with a innocent smile.
Both boys started to smile excitedly.
"Get ready!" She raised her arm straight up.
They took their positions.
"Begin!" She swung her arm down.
Zimri dashed forward, doing a low swing. Corbett deflected it with both his sticks, he twisted around and did a low sweep. knocking over Zimiri in turn.
Zimri quickly collected his bearing and blocked Corbett's swords that were inches from his face. His smile only widened as he swung his foot, hooking his arm and bringing Corbett down. Zimri took this chance to take a swing at him but was flung sand at his face.
"O-Oi! That's not fair!" Zimir scolded annoyed as he felt a swing at his lower back, making him stumble forward and almost get hit by another swing.
"There are no rules in a pirate fight, Zim!" Corbett laughed.
"Really now...!" Zimiri laughed as he blew in his face, Corbett scrunched up his face for a moment getting distracted, "Screw you too man!"
"Ha!" Zimiri got a hit on Corbett's back legs. Corbett fell forward, falling on his knees.
"Do you surrender?" Zimri pointed his sword at him, as he stood over him.
"There's no such thing as surrendering in a battle.." Corbett grinned grabbing hold of his wrist and swinging him over his shoulder. Zimiri landed on his back, the impact sending a quick electric through his body. His hand went numb making his grip on his stick let go.
Corbett quickly kicked the stick away.
Zimri groaned to himself, then noticed the sunlight was being blocked by none other than his friend who was pointing two sticks at him.
"Say hello to your Captain. First mate." Corbett chuckled to himself.
"Corbett D. Portgas wins the match, making him the Captain of the newly formed Ravenhood Pirates Crew." Faelyn announced, giggling.
A sudden round of whistles and shouts of laughter rang out behind the girl.
"Did you see that! That was my son! MY SON! AND! He's a captain too! Would you look at that! Did you see him fight! He looked like his mother out there!"
"Ya, ya, we know. Your a proud dad."
"Not saying that he has bad skills but he looked good out there. Probably my genes."
"Oh my god, I'm not listening to this..."
"Oh hey, Faelyn!"
Faelyn turned around to see it was one of her father's crewmates, he had unruly hair, his lips chapped as well, holding a sniper gun on his back proudly.
"HELLO!" She waved cutely. Almost half the crew fawned or fainted at her cuteness.
"FAE! MY PRECIOUS DAUGHTER!" She was swooped up in a hug by one arm, which confused her.
"HI, Papa!" The girl giggled, seeing her father melt at the sight of her.
"Oh! Papa's back?" Corbett dropped his sticks and came running. He leaped up and tried to hug him too but just slid down his body, thinking he was going to get caught.
"Huh?" Both children paused.
The father froze and then looked back at his crew for help.
"Oh! Papa, what happened to your hat?" The girl questioned, "I thought it was important to you.."
"Well.. You see, I gave it to that boy I told you about the last time I came here, remember?"
"Why?" Corbett spoke up.
"Well he said something quiet amusing so I put a bet on him." Their father smiled thinking about him.
"What did he say?" Faelyn asked curiously.
"You won't believe it! He said he was going to be the King of Pirates someday!" He smiled happily.
The girl and her brother looked at each other and smiled back.
"If papa thinks he can do it..." Corbett started.
"Then we'll believe as well." Faelyn finished giggling.
The crew shouted out some comments on how cute the kids were or how some of them wished they had kids like them. Some others were snickering and commenting back how that'll never happen.
"But papa?"
"Yes?"
"Why aren't you using your other arm?"
At this the whole crew went quiet.
Faelyn's grip on her father's jacket tightened as the atmosphere grew more cold, "Papa, what's wrong? Did something happen..?"
Her father's right hand man stepped up and pat the girl's head, making the father hiss at him quietly, "Well you see, an accident happened when your father saved someone..."
"PAPA!?" Corbett tugged on his father's coat, "Are you hurt??"
"Umm it isn't that bad..." Their father chuckled nervously, "I'm just worried about your mother's reaction.
Some of the crewmates sucked in a few gasps and few muttered some prayers in hope for their Captain.
"OI DON'T BE ALREADY ASSUMIN I'M DEAD!" He shouted annoyed at the crew behind him.
"If it's not that bad, then let me see."
The crew opened up a small opening, presenting the children's mother.
"Oh shit." Their father cursed quietly, hugging his daughter in hope this wasn't happening. Their mother's black messy hair that was tied up, swayed as she made her way to her family. The crewmates that she passed didn't dare look or meet eye contact with her.
"Honey."
"H-He-ey..! Sweetheart! How was the children..?" He tried to to play it off coolly, but his superior image was diminishing quickly in front of his wife.
"Show me your arm." She leaned on her left leg, crossing her arms.
"But sweetie, don't you think the kids should leave fir-" He was interrupted when she put a hand up.
"Don't give me such a fucked excuse, Buggy can make a better excuse than that!" She growled as she put her hands on her hip, "Show it, now."
"....Fine.." He gently gave his first mate Faelyn to carry as he slowly took off his coat.
"Papa.. Your ar-"

Waking up at a sudden weight that sat on her chest, she sat up looking to see what it was. She smiled to herself seeing it was only Luffy and Usopp fighting over her pillow in their sleep.
Glancing around the campfire, she saw Nami and Vivi sleeping on the other side of her. Zoro was leaning on a boulder with Sanji on the other side, in a deep slumber. Chopper was curled up at her feet, snoring.
She turned her attention to the two fighting over her pillow and giggled quietly to herself before getting up. She rolled up her blanket, shaping it into a makeshift pillow and handing it to Usopp. He immediately let go of her actual pillow and rolled over on his side. She stroked her fingers through his curly hair, smiling to herself as he relaxed in her touch and then went into a deep slumber. She turned to her Captain and saw his straw-hat was crooked and look uncomfortable on his face so she fixed it for him, straightening it so it'll block the sun in the morning. She stroked her finger through his hair as well, she hummed to herself trying to get herself sleepy.
After a bit, she gave him a few scratches on the head before getting up to go share a blanket with Nami.
"Goodnight, guys.." She yawned before dozing off.
"..."
"Goodnight, Fae."
