"Hi...Um I'm looking for Kiara August" I said as i entered the elementary school's office. I was late picking the little one up because i got lost.
"Are you Marissa Bell?" the secatary (s.c.) asked
"yes i am"
"Do you have some sort of ID?"
"yes ma'am" I showed her my student ID
"Okay, Kiara you can leave now"
"Ugh finally!!!" i heard the little girl say. She walked fom behind the desk "Where is this chick at so I can see her and ask why she's late picking me up. i'm missing my cartoons!!!" She looked at me and I waved. It was that little girl from the mall. I should have put two and two together. Chresanto had football practice and Kiara's last name is August. Wow I'm slow!!!
"Hi kiara"
"Don't I know you?" she asked as we walked into the empty school hallway
"I believe so"
"yeah. your that British girl that ran away from my brother at the mall Saturday right?"
"mhmm, and your that spunky little girl that your brother introduced me to right?"
"that depends" she said
"on what?"
"What does spunky mean?"
I chuckled and explained the meaning. We walked outside and she tried to get in the front seat of my car
"um i'm going to need you to sit in the back okay?"
"But Chres always lets me sit in the front"
"yeah but that's dangerous for someone your age, and I can't let you get hurt while your on my watch"
"Okay" Kiara climbed into the back seat and buckled her seatbelt.
I took out the paper that had their address on it and began looking for their house. I unfortunantly had no idea where I was going.
"So why did you run out on my brother?"
"Oh I uh...I had to take some food to my little brother"
"Oh okay. So how old is your brother?"
"he just turned 8 last week"
"That's cool. i'll be 8 in 2 months, 1 week, 3 days, 13 hours, 22 minutes, 6 seconds 5...4...3...2"
"that's cute your keeping count"
"yeah. So do i know your brother?"
"You might, he went to your school but he got really sick and couldn't come anymore. his name is JaLen Perez"
"Yeah I know him. My teacher said he got Lu-Meanya and said we should pray for him. Does that mean that he got really really mean from some guy named Lu?" I chuckled a little
"No. It's called Lukemia and you should pray for him. that would help"
"okay i will remember when I go to bed" The car was silent for a little. I was still lost "So why don't you and your brother have the same last name?" Kiara asked me
"Well we have different fathers. We're just half brother and sister. He got his name from my um.. st-stepfather and I um, kept my mom's last name"
"oh. Why don't you have you dad's last name?"
"Because i don't know my dad"
"oh. i don't know my dad either. He died when i was a baby and i don't remember him" i looked in the rear view mirror and Kiara looked very sad.
"hey, you want some ice cream?" her face lit up to that question
"Of course. how could I turn that down?"
"Alrighty then" Luckily there was a Cold Stone right by where we were. i pulled in and we went inside and ordered our ice creams.
"Marissa your not going to be like the babysitter off of the fairly odd parents are you?"
"Who Vicky? No way! I won't"
"Good because if you were, i'd have to kill you" i laughed a little bit but noticed the serious expression on her face
"I won't i promise" We finished eating our ice cream and got back into the car. I asked one of the workers where the address on the paper was and come to find out it was like a couple blocks away from my house. cool huh?
We finally got to her house and she had key. I unlocked the door and walked inside the humongous house. I mean this place was big. it didn't even look that big from the outside but the inside was nice and spacious.
"Finally i'm home. i'm going to sleep!"
"um..Do you have any homework?"
"yeah"
"Well i think you should finish that first then go to bed"
"Ugh, alright" she walked back down the stairs and we went into the living room and did homework. i have some too so might as well get it over with now.
[After they both are done]
"Can I go to sleep now?" she asked
"Are you done?"
"Yes"
"Then yes" She got up and stomped up the stairs. i heard the door slam close and jumped a little. I packed her dora book bag back up and sat it by the front door. I went back into the living room and turned on the tv. a twilight marathon was on so i watched it
[3 hours later]
i was in the middle of the second twilight when kiara came back down stairs
"hello sleepy head"
"Shut up" she said very cranky. She took the remote and changed the channel
"Well then what's got you panties in a twist?"
"Don't take it personally chick, i"m like this to everyone when I wake up. your learn to get used to it."
"well can you at least change the channel back?"
"No, you already made me miss my spongebob. I'm not missing my Regular Show."
"okay fine."
We watched i think 2 shows of regular show and i started to hear her stomach rumble.
"Are you hungry?" i asked
"STARVING!!!" she yelled
"well what do you want to eat?"
"Cheeseburgers and French fries"
"Well lets go get started" i said. We went into the kitchen. i took out the hamburger meat, the seasonings, the cheese and the french fries.
"Make sure you wash your hands Kiara" i said. She went upstairs to wash her hands since she couldn't reach the sink in the kitchen. i washed my hands as well. kiara came downstairs with a dora radio.
"I like cooking with music"
"okay" I plugged it up and turned on a radio station. We started cooking. We made the hamburgers really big. We made one for Chresanto too. Kiara was singing to the music and she sounded really good for a 7 year old. no she sounded good period.
Chresanto POV
I came home from football practice a little earlier than usual because Ray was rushing me to get home so he could watch the twilight Marathon. He had it on record and said he was ready to watch it. I walked in to hear Rhianna's voice blasted through my house. I walked into my kitchen which was where the source of the music was coming from and i found Marissa and my sister singing along with Rhiannna. They were telling each other to shine bright like a diamond and that they were beautiful like diamonds in the sky. It was funny because Marissa was singing into the spatula and Kia was singing into a wooden spoon. Marissa could really sing. it took them a minute or two to finally notice me but when they did they both were scared
"Whoa Chres when did you get here?" kia asked me
"About 5 minutes ago. hi kia"
"Hey big bro" She gave me a hug.
"Hi Mary"
"hello" She smiled.
"It smells good in here, what we eating?"
"Cheesburgers and french fries" Kia and Mariisa informed me
"Cool" i walked over and tried to grabbed some of the french fries that were already done but Marissa smacked my hand
"No eating until everything's finished"
"Isn't this everything?"
"no we still have some more french fries in the oven"
"Well how long is that going to be?"
"It's enough time for you to go shower and change because you smell like a sweaty pig, wet dog and a dirt cow on an unclaimed farm" Kia told me. I smelled my self and i did smell pretty bad
"Alright, but don't eat with out me"
"then hurry up" she said. I went and took a shower. I put on some basketball shorts and wife beater some addidas socks and addiads sandals and went downstairs. they had already made their plate and was about to eat
"you just made it.We were about to start eating without you"
"I see that" I sat down in the empty chair across from mary and piled my food on. We said a small prayer and began eating. This burger was bomb though foreal!
"mary this burger is where its at!!!" kia said
"yeah this is really good" i second
"thanks" she said. We ate but there was an awkward silence.
"okay i hate awkward silences someone talk" Kia demanded. Me and Marissa laughed and then we just talked about randon things.
[After dinner]
Me and mary had cleaned up the dinner mess and now we are all finishing the last of the twilight Marathon, which premiered (s.c.) Breaking Dawn prt 2. After a while Mary started packing up to leave
"Aww your leaving Mary?"
"yeah but I'll see you tomorrow"
"Yayy!!!" Kia hugged her. I gave her the money and she headed towards the door
"hey, how about I pick you up tomorrow for school?"
"i would like that. thanks"
"okay, see you tomorrow then"
"yup"
"bye mary!!!" kia yelled as she walked out. When she pulled off I shut the door and turned to Kia
"You like her don't you?" Kia asked me
"No..." she gave me that 'stop-lyin' look. "okay maybe a little, but no where near as much as you like Rayquan"
"i know, because my love for ray can't be beat by no one elses. He's mine and I'll love him forever!" She ran into the living room. Well it's time to start getting ready for school. It's kinda ironic that someone i just met saturday is now my sister's babysitter huh?
