"Look mom! A butterfly!"
You smiled as your five-year-old son/daughter (Y/C/N) started to chase around a beautiful white and green butterfly through the park on a sunny day, your husband sitting right beside you on the park bench with a grin on his face.
"I can't believe how fast our son/daughter is growing up," Tadashi marveled, taking your hand gently. You turned to him and smiled.
"I know!" you sighed in awe. Then you nudged him. "Hey Tadashi, don't you think (Y/C/N) reminds us of someone...familiar?"
Tadashi looked at you with a glimmer in his eyes. "I think I know exactly who you mean."
You finally managed to get up from the bench and catch up with your son/daughter, taking him/her around the waist and spinning him/her around in the air, and he/she shrieked in pleasure.
"Mom!" (Y/C/N) smiled cheekily from ear to ear.
"Aww, look at our little (Y/C/N)," Tadashi said, grinning as he started to tickle him/her.
"Dad! That tickles!" (Y/C/N) squealed, and you smiled.
"Hey (Y/C/N)," you spoke, "do you want to see something cool? Your father built it when he was younger."
(Y/C/N) looked at Tadashi intently. "What did you build, daddy?"
Tadashi smiled gently. "It's a surprise."
(Y/C/N) jumped up and down in excitement. "What is it, daddy? Tell me! Tell me!!"
"We'll tell you," you piped up. "But first, we'll show you. Come on, (Y/C/N). Let's go visit your uncle Hiro, okay?"
"Okay," (Y/C/N) bobbed his/her head, and he/she skipped along in front of you and Tadashi, who laughed and took your hand as you all headed to SFIT.
"WOW!"
You glanced over at (Y/C/N), who stared at the robotics department building with wide eyes the moment you got there. "Daddy, you went here? And this is where uncle Hiro teaches?" (Y/C/N) turned to you and Tadashi, smiling like he/she had just gotten his/her favourite flavour of ice cream in a huge tub. "I wanna go here! This is so cool!"
Tadashi smiled encouragingly at his child. "I know you're going to make it! One day, I'll teach you everything you need to know."
"I can't wait!"
You turned to Tadashi, smirking. "Very different from Hiro."
Tadashi laughed. "Don't encourage him/her."
"Can we get in?" (Y/C/N) begged.
You laughed. "Let's go in! Uncle Hiro should be done teaching by now."
So the three of you entered the school, and you arrived at Hiro's office. He has replaced Professor Callaghan as head of Robotics after Callaghan's retirement, and Hiro happily took on the role. You smiled, remembering the younger Hamada's previous bot-fighting desire, and how that all changed the moment Tadashi showed him the Robotics lab. This was also where you and Tadashi first met...ah, the memories.
"(Y/N)! Tadashi!" Hiro cried, the moment he saw you two come into his office. "And you even brought my favourite niece/nephew along!"
"Hello, Uncle Hiro!" (Y/C/N) squealed in excitement, wrapping his/her arms around Hiro. "It's great to see you."
Hiro laughed. "It's great to see you too today!" He brought out a pack of gummy bears. "And I can't forget about this. I was waiting for the day when you can come to SFIT--"
"Thank you, Uncle Hiro!" (Y/C/N) grinned, accepting the bag of gummy bears, and you couldn't help but grin at how well Hiro and (Y/C/N) have gotten along.
"So, what brings you here today?" Hiro asked you and Tadashi.
"We're just here to show her/him to Baymax," you explained. "Do you know if he's still here?"
Hiro nodded. "He's in my lab, just beside my office." Then catching Tadashi's suspicious glance, he smirked. "Hey, professors need time to experiment too!"
"Seems like you've changed, knucklehead," Tadashi joked, ruffling Hiro's hair, the way they used to do when you were all younger.
"Hey!"
(Y/C/N) had just finished eating the gummy bears and tugged on your sleeve. "When are we going to see this surprise?"
You smiled. "Hiro? Lead the way."
Hiro smiled back as he crossed his office to a door just by the wall, and unlocked it to reveal his lab.
"Impressive," Tadashi whispered. "It's just like my old lab, years ago."
You smiled. "I remember the first time I got lost in here, and ended up in your lab! That was how we, um, first met, right?"
"I never forgot that day," Tadashi said, taking your hand.
"Uh uh uh, (Y/C/N), no touching!" Hiro said as he gently removed (Y/C/N)'s hands from an invention he was currently working on. "I promise, when you grow older, you would learn how to use all this."
(Y/C/N) nodded. "Okay, Uncle Hiro! I know you and daddy are going to do a great job."
Then his/her eyes fell on a red case. "Uncle, is that..."
Hiro nodded. "Tadashi, come here."
Tadashi did so, and Hiro slapped him playfully on the arm.
"Ow," Tadashi said, rubbing his arm.
Then you watched (Y/C/N)'s widen as Baymax inflated from his red case.
"Uh, mom? Dad?" You couldn't help but notice (Y/C/N) look at Baymax in awe. "What is this?"
Tadashi laughed. "I built him when I was younger. (Y/C/N), meet Baymax."
Baymax tentatively stepped out of his red casing and looked around, blinking as he approached Tadashi.
"Hello. I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion," Baymax spoke, and then performed the usual treatment on Tadashi.
(Y/C/N) looked like he/she would do a happy dance. "So this is my surprise? He's so cute!" Then (Y/C/N) attempted to replicate Baymax's waddle. "He's like a giant walking marshmallow!"
You smiled at (Y/C/N) and patted his/her head. "Yes, he is."
"I used to say that when I first saw Baymax," Hiro added.
(Y/C/N) looked up at his/her uncle and flashed an adorable smile.
Baymax then turned to you, Hiro, and (Y/C/N). "Hello, Hiro. Hello, (Y/N). It is good to see you again."
"Hey, Baymax," you greeted him, giving him a big hug. "It's so good to see you!"
Baymax blinked and then turned to (Y/C/N), who was looking at him in wonder. "Who do we have here?" Baymax asked, focusing his cameras.
"Hi. I am (Y/C/N)," (Y/C/N) introduced himself/herself. "It is nice to meet you."
Baymax blinked. "I am happy to see you too. Are you (Y/N) and Tadashi's child?"
(Y/C/N) nodded. "Daddy told me he built you when he was younger!"
Baymax nodded. "That is true. Tadashi, your father, built me as a huggable, lovable, healthcare companion. I serve to help the sick and injured."
(Y/C/N) nodded in understanding. "Baymax, can you help me with something?"
Baymax blinked. "What is it you need?"
(Y/C/N) showed him his/her knee, the one that he/she hurt while biking last night. "I hurt my knee yesterday, and it hurts!"
Baymax then flashed his pain scale with all the different faces. "On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your pain?"
(Y/C/N) looked confused. "Why are there so many faces?"
"Each face is to show how you feel after you got hurt," Tadashi explained. "So if the pain was not so bad, you'd say 'one', but if you hurt yourself really badly and really need to get better, you'd say 'ten'."
"Ohhhhhhhhhh. Thanks daddy!" (Y/C/N) then turned back to Baymax. "I'll say a 3."
"I see. I will scan you now."
"What's scanning?" (Y/C/N) asked you.
"Baymax needs to scan you with cameras he has in his head so that he could see what happened and what he could do about your booboo," you told him/her. "So far you have been a good patient."
Baymax performed the scan and then said, "(Y/C/N), you have an epidermal abrasion in your right knee. I suggest a disinfectant spray, and a bandage around your knee." He approached (Y/C/N) and sprayed the disinfectant spray on his/her knee, and then produced a long white bandaage and some gauze, which he used as a dressing to cover the wound, and then wrapped the bandage around his/her knee.
(Y/C/N) got up and walked around, testing out how it felt. "I feel dandy now! Thank you Baymax!" He/she ran to Baymax and gave him a big big hug. "I feel better now."
Baymax hugged (Y/C/N) back. "I am glad to hear that. You are welcome to visit me whenever you like!"
(Y/C/N) grinned and turned to Hiro. "What else can Baymax do?"
"I also made Baymax do some karate, and I also made a suit so that he could fly," Hiro told him/her. "But we would save that for another day. I have to teach more students soon."
"You have been a good girl/boy," Baymax added, and (Y/C/N) smiled at Baymax as he held up a red lollipop. "Have a lollipop."
(Y/C/N)'s eyes widened as she took the lollipop. "Thank you, Baymax!" He/she took the lollipop out of the wrapper and sucked on it, a smile creeping on his/her face.
"I cannot deactivate until you say, 'I am satisfied with my care'," Baymax then proceeded to tell him/her.
"What is 'satisfied'?" he/she asked Tadashi.
"When you are satisfied, you are happy with what Baymax has done today," Tadashi told him/her. "Are you happy with the care Baymax gave you?"
(Y/C/N) nodded. "Yes I am, daddy. Baymax, I am satisfied with my care."
Marvelling at the fact that (Y/C/N) could say "satisfied" at a young age, you gave him/her a big hug as Baymax waddled back to his charging station and shrank.
"I can't wait to see Baymax's karate and flying!" (Y/C/N) finally squealed.
"You are always welcome to drop by any time," Hiro told him/her. "Maybe when I am not teaching as much, we can help you fly with Baymax. He can take you flying all over the city."
"THAT IS SO COOL!" (Y/C/N) cried. "Now I really can't wait!"
The clock in the office began to chime, and Hiro quickly re-entered his office, you and Tadashi and (Y/C/N) following suit.
"I have to go back and teach," Hiro said. "It was great seeing you guys today."
"Yeah, it was definitely great to see you too!" Tadashi said, ruffling his younger brother's hair again. Then he turned to you, and you squeezed his hand. "Shall we go, then?" you asked him.
"Of course," Tadashi smiled. "See you later, knucklehead."
Hiro just smiled back as he exited the office with a huge bag of binders shouldered on his back. "See you guys!" he waved.
The three of you then exited the school, and (Y/C/N) looked at Tadashi with awe.
"Baymax is so nice!" he/she exclaimed. "You are definitely one awesome daddy! You're the bestest daddy ever!"
Tadashi smiled at him/her and tackled him/her in a big bear hug. "Who else would be the best daddy in the world, hmm?"
You smiled and joined in the group hug, definitely feeling satisfied with your care. As long as (Y/C/N) is alright, nothing would ever go wrong.
Sorry again for crappy ending but this is like going on and on and on and on...tell me if you like it though.
