If there was only one musical that you really ever loved, it was "Newsies". Sure, you had posters filling your room depicting so many other Broadway hits--"Phantom of the Opera", "Mamma Mia," "Wicked," even "The Little Mermaid"--but "Newsies" had always remained your all-time favourite. Having listened to the entire soundtrack countless times, watching the film countless times, seeing the musical many times, and even practicing with your parents made you feel just so much more engaged with the musical.

But if there was only one flaw in you that you weren't willing to admit, it would be this: you were very shy. You could do any role with your parents and no one would judge, but you feared of going out onstage. Seeing all those people made you freak out and blank out and embarrass yourself. Acting soon faded into the shadows, while science became your major forte, landing you a place in SFIT and making some of the coolest friends and doing some amazing projects.

Until one day, when things turned around for both the better and the worse.

"Hey (Y/N)," Tadashi greeted you, while you were hanging around in the Lucky Cat Cafe, a iced coffee in your hand as you looked through your latest project. You two have been pretty good friends since you got to SFIT, and over time you started warming up to him, probably a bit too often for your own comfort. But it was all instinct--you couldn't help but start feeling something for this boy.

"Hey Tadashi," you greeted him, smiling as you closed your physics textbook and placing it back in your bag. You just couldn't help but strike a conversation with this guy--once you started, you wouldn't stop, for a long time on end. And you didn't mind that.

"Can I ask you a favour?" Tadashi asked you, taking a seat across from you and looking at you with his intense brown eyes.

You nodded. "Anything for a friend."

Tadashi beamed as he took out a stack of papers. "The San Fransokyo Theatre company is looking for people to play in their newest production, 'Newsies', and they are performing for a few nights around San Fransokyo. For so long, (Y/N), I have longed to perform but never got the chance, and now I've just signed up to audition as Jack Kelly, with Davey as the backup! And the auditions are tomorrow morning! Am I crazy or what? I don't even know what the musical is about, but all I know is that it's filled with dancing and stuff. It's all out, it's intense, and I want to do it."

You laughed, clutching hard on your iced coffee. "Tadashi Hamada, playing a lead role in a musical? I always thought you were the friendliest nerd, but an actor?" Sipping on your iced coffee, you smirked. "I can only see you working hard in the lab, not dancing to a super difficult routine."

"Come on," Tadashi pleaded. "I need some help. And I'm pretty sure Fred didn't just call you 'Soulful Tone' around the lab for nothing, right?"

You sighed. "You got me. I love musicals, but I just can't perform in front of people."

"You don't have to go with me to the auditions," Tadashi assured you. "I mean, it's up to you if you want to try out. But you probably know this musical better than me. Can you help? Pleaaaase?"

For a moment, as you looked into Tadashi's puppy eyes, you felt your heart melt. Of course you would help him. That's what any friend would do, right? But on the other hand you felt your heart wilt--if he made it in, the time you would spend with him would only continue diminishing up to the point you would see him onstage...dancing with the other boys...flirting with Katherine Plumber...and then kissing her...
