I could never love someone like you.
Malachi strolled into the garage with a smile, "Guess what, Lilith?"
"What, big brother?" Her blue eyes raced across his evil expression, she'd felt empty ever since she had left Sweet Pea's. Her guilt- her lies drowning her.
"We're going racing today. Got Serpent territory on the table." Malachi began digging around his sisters personal space.
"I think I'll sit it out, Kai." Her stomach bubbled in anxiety, the thought of going and having her friends- Sweet Pea see her.
"Not an option, little sister. We're using your car, and I want you to drive." Malachi shot her a knowing look, he had noticed her soft spot for the Serpents. Had realized just how often she wasn't at home anymore.
"I don't want to go, Kai." Lilith insisted as Malachi finally found her leather jacket, buried deep within her make shift closet.
"You don't want to go or you don't want them to see you?" Lilith couldn't help but let the small expression of shock slip, Malachi smiling at the sight.
"I won't tell, little sister. But do remember you don't belong with them. You're a savage like the rest of us, he won't love you anymore once he knows." Her brother smiles at her in cruelty as he assumes her involvement had something to do with a boy.
"Shut up, Kai." Lilith couldn't help but stand from the hood of the car. Lessening the space between the two siblings with her fists clenched at her sides
"You see that? Ready to kill. It's our instinct, we don't care who's the target. The Serpents are weak, they'll abandon you the first time you loose control." Malachi doesn't see the tears growing in his sisters eyes.
"Put on your armor, we've got a race to win." Malachi holds the leather out to her.
It was a moment of hesitation before Lilith snatched the jacket from him and slipped it on over her tank top.
Lilith was shaking with nerves as they pulled up into the lot, bikes sat spread out across the space. Almost like a battlefield.
This was it.
Lilith could feel it in her bones, this was the day that Sweet Pea would realize who she really was. She couldn't help but think that maybe he would care about her enough to listen.
Lilith had shared so much personal details with him that she felt like maybe he would understand. Maybe Sweet Pea could still love her the way she loved him. Maybe he could love her the way he had promised her the other night- her Ghoulie side included.
Lilith had tried to stay back in the crowd and away from any Serpent eyes. Of course that was impossible though, she was Ghoulie royalty.
Head of the food chain, viewed as a threat to the enemies; only that she didn't want to be a threat. Lilith wanted to be with Sweet Pea.
It was too late though, Sweet Pea was already squinting across the lot to the black Mustang.
It seemed like in seconds Malachi had spotted his sister, he had already forced her to wear her leather jacket but he wanted to prove that his words were true.
That the Serpents wouldn't love her. Malachi knew she was trying to hide, could see her glancing to the enemies side.
Lilith was grabbed by the waist, pulled away from her secluded circle. As much as she tried to jerk out of her brothers grip, it seemed impossible. Even when she stumbled over her own boots, Malachi seemed to be relentless on exposing her.
"Kai! Put me the fuck down!" Lilith couldn't help but shout at him as he continued to pull her towards the car. Her car.
Across the lot the Serpents had noticed the commotion, a girl screaming. It seemed like a split second where Sweet Pea had glanced back away only to shoot his eyes back to the girls profile.
"Lili?" Sweet Pea couldn't help but call out, utterly confused. Before he could step up to save his girl from the freaks Toni put a hand on his arm.
"Pea.." Toni was staring wide eyed at the girl across the lot, the girl she had grown to really like. A girl she knew Sweet Pea cared deeply for which was very unlike the unfriendly boy.
Her blazing blue eyes met his across the lot only to watch his eyes glance to the jacket across her body. A body he had gotten so familiar with.
It's like Lilith could see the hatred grow in his brown eyes, eyes that usually shined at the sight of her.
Malachi let go of her only to give her a firm shove which sent her immediately into the gravel on her knees. Sweet Pea watched with a deep realization that this wasn't a play of the eyes as the girl ripped a knife from her boot and took wide swings towards the boy.
In true Ghoulie nature, no hesitation just brutal violence. Survival.
The other Ghoulie's cheered loud when her blade met his arm, Malachi only laughed at his wound before putting his hands up in surrender.
Malachi had gotten what he wanted, his sister to act the way she always did. With pure violence, fury filled slashes. He could see the bloodlust rise in her eyes, building up in her- desperate to get another cut in.
"She's a fucking Ghoulie." Sweet Pea is still staring, a deep rage growing in his chest.
"Sweet Pea let her explain, this doesn't make any sense." Toni tried to rationalize as she too stared at the skull on the back of her leather.
"I'm gonna be sick." His deep voice crumpled under his emotions.
Lilith spun once she had stood her ground, spotting him again across the lot. Only to see him shake his head, his hands clenched to his sides in anger.
"Sweet Pea!" Lilith tried to call once he had stormed off away from his friends.
Lilith quickly stepped away only to be ripped back by her arm, "You follow after that snake and I won't be able to save you, Lilith."
Malachi would have no choice but to tell their father, the others would be quick to talk too. Lilith didn't care though.
Lilith watched the shock in her brothers face as she ripped her arm away from him and took off in a sprint to Sweet Pea.
Toni and Fangs stood by each other, still confused at what had just happened. At the sight of Lilith taking off- Malachi slamming his hands into the hood of his car at this. The two sides stared at the two teens who were supposed to despise each other.
They watched in awe almost as Lilith ran to Sweet Pea as if her life depended on it, which in reality her life had ended when she made the decision. Her father was going to kill her, but Lilith didn't care about her father right now.
"Sweet Pea!" Her voice rung out in his ears from a distance, a voice he had grown to love.
"Stay the fuck away from me!" Sweet Pea had yelled back but despite his tone and the fear that blossomed in her chest she grabbed his arm.
"Let me explain!" Sweet Pea spun to face her, shoving her arm off of him as if it was trash; something that didn't deserve to touch him.
"I don't need you to explain shit, Ghoulie." Lilith felt her heart break at the fury in his eyes.
"I-I don't want to be this, I don't have a choice! We don't get to choose!" Lilith didn't know what she could say that would make it better.
"You're a fucking liar. You're just as bad as the rest of them!" Sweet Pea hated watching his girls eyes shine with tears, knowing he couldn't fix it this time. Lilith wasn't who he thought she was.
"It's you," He sneered, "You're the fucking princess?"
"Aren't you?" He yelled making her flinch at his raised voice.
"I should've fucking known! Did you even like me? Or was this all a set up?" Lilith shook her head immediately.
"No. I promise, Sweet Pea. I was in Greendale to escape all this shit and then I met you and I liked you so much. I knew you wouldn't want to be with me-" Lilith tries desperately to explain to this man in front of her, a man she loved.
"Of course I wouldn't want to be with you! You just sliced someone up! I don't know anyone who would want to be with you!" His words slam into her hard, Lilith wipes tears off her cheeks.
"I've told you how much I hate them! How scared I am!" This doesn't appease him.
"Bullshit. Stop fucking lying!" Sweet Pea can't help but run his hands through his hair, he was so angry. Sweet Pea was hurt, he had thought it all had been a ploy against the Serpents.
"I'm not lying! I was scared to tell you, I know I shouldn't have lied and I'm so sorry for that. I should have told you the truth but you wouldn't have even given me a shot." Sweet Pea rolled his eyes at this.
"You like me! You care about me, Sweet Pea. Why does that have to change because of something I was born into? Forced into!" Lilith hates the break in her voice, truly showing how emotional she was.
"I don't like Ghoulies." It was almost a growl as he stepped closer to her as if he wanted to scare her away. Lilith stared up at him, the sight of her eyes making him want to fold. The look in her bright blue eyes made something soften in him, but not enough.
"I'm not one of them. My brother can force me into the jacket and to the events all he wants, I won't ever be one of them." Her hand places itself on his chest.
"I can't be." She whimpered, "Not since I met you."
For a moment he let it stay before he pushed it off, "You're a drug dealing psycho."
A cold feeling ran through Lilith as she stared up at Sweet Pea. "I hate you. You're a Ghoul through and through. Lying and manipulative."
"You're just as bad as your father." Lilith couldn't help but take a step away from him, even Sweet Pea knowing he'd taken it to far, that he was a liar now too.
At this Sweet Pea turns his back to her again to leave. He couldn't look at her anymore, it hurt too much.
"I fucking love you, Sweet Pea!" Lilith quickly admitted to the boys back despite the angry words he had thrown at her.
Sweet Pea faltered in his step, having to take a deep breath to stop his own tears.
"I could never love someone like you." It's at this Lilith's blood runs cold, it was her biggest fear. It proved all of her doubts, confirmed Malachi's taunts.
Lilith stares after him as he walks away, knowing that nothing she could possibly say would matter to him.
At the sound of gravel behind her she glanced over her shoulder, not knowing whether to be relieved at the sight of the two Serpents or not.
"I'm sorry I lied but this is what I knew was going to happen. I never wanted this life. Please, tell him I'm sorry." Toni places a gentle hand on her arm, watching the girl choke back tears.
"Malachi is really mad, you might want to get back." Fangs said in a disappointed tone, he didn't know what to do. Fangs was mad at her but looking to the girl he could see the pain on her face. He was an empath and knew she cared about his friend.
"I'm dead either way. Kai told me when I went to run that he wouldn't save me. I chose a Snake over my own." Toni and Fangs glance at each other over the girl.
Lilith glanced between the two, "Thank you. The three of you, for giving me a family, even if it was only for a little while."
Lilith takes another glance to the direction Sweet Pea went before she gives up, storming away from the two teens as quickly as she could.
As if things can't get worse someone screams out, "Cops!"
"Cops are rounding Ghoulies!" At this Lilith broke into a run, trying to look over the crowd to see her brother. Lilith couldn't spot his dark curls anywhere, she still had tears drying to her cheeks when she spots Jughead's car come flying back over the bridge.
"Where the fuck is my brother?" The two boys look to her, Jughead immediately seeing the tears on her face; had watched her run after Sweet Pea.
"He got arrested." Archie responded to her, if Jug hadn't noticed the dilation of her pupils and stepped to grab her Archie would have been hit.
Lilith thrashed against Jughead, "I fucking hate you!"
At the sound of sirens Lilith jolted back, running to her side of the parking lot. Two Ghoulies lifted her into the bed of a truck before they took off.
By the time she had pulled her garage door open she was shaking in anxiety, with her brother gone it meant her father would remember she was alive.
Lilith froze as the the sound of the door opening gained the attention of the man standing inside. Raphael didn't pause in his motions of tearing her "room" apart.
"What are you looking for?" Her father snaps his head to hers, his eyes bloodshot and his pupils expanded.
In two steps he ripped the bag off of her shoulder, he dug through it until he pulled out her phone. Her nerves bubbled heavily in her stomach but when he slammed her phone down into the table she jumped in fear. That wasn't what she expected to happen, he kept hitting it against the wood; glass flying everywhere.
"Get the fuck inside!"
