"A-Are you o-okay..??"
In front of her was a small reindeer looking creature, standing on it's hindlegs. On it's head stood a furry pink top hat with the symbol 'X' in the middle. His eyes wide in worry and fear.
"W-where are the... others...!" She tried to get up but her arms protested painfully as she tried to push herself up. The room was filled with tubes of different colored liquids, tables filled with medical equipment. The thought of being strapped onto a table terrified her to the bone.
"T-there all sleeping and healing, h-human..!" He shouted, "You shouldn't move with those injuries!"
Faythe let out a breathe, knowing they were alright. She grabbed onto the bed side and leaned against it, still on the floor.
"Sorry..." She muttered out, after awhile of staring at the ceiling, not having the courage to look around the room.
"Stupid human, that wont make me happy..!" The reindeer giggled to himself, making the girl muffle a snort.
"I'm just not good... with doctors..." She hummed to herself, trying to distract herself from those awful memories at the facility.
"M-May I ask why?" The reindeer perked up at hearing this.
Faythe now turned her eyes towards the reindeer, thinking about this. Would he make fun of her? Would he right it off as a lie and not believe her? Or would he dismiss it, saying that's impossible. She looked at blank face trying to read his expressions.
After awhile of thinking, she let out a sigh, "Fine.." She paused for a moment, feeling feathers sprout from her cheek and neck. Seeing this the reindeer let out a short gasp.
"See this...?" Faythe gently patted the feathers sprouting from her face and skin, "These were forced onto me... I didn't want this.. And it was done by doctors, being greedy fools.." She smiled sadly.
"S-So you didn't eat the devil fruit on purpose? You were experimented on?" The reindeer stepped a bit closer from the doorway, just a few feet away.
"Mhm.. It wasn't just me either.." Faythe let out a dry laugh.
"That's awful.." He said sadly, his blue nose twitching every so often.
"It's not so bad, I escaped after all, and now I'm part of a pirate crew. I can now fight along side with them, using this forced Devil fruit to my wish." Faythe clenched her fist.
"What can you use it for?" The reindeer asked, now getting curious to what she could use with it.
"Well, It's called the hane-hane Fruit. It allows me to turn into a bird and use the feathers to my will. I can apparently turn into a parrot." Faythe smiled thoughtfully.
"A PARROT!?" The reindeer shouted confused, he was now sitting a foot in front of the girl, now getting comfortable.
"Yep, I've defeated many foes with this power..." Faythe let out a sigh, remembering all of her battles.
"That sounds cool.."
"You bet it is! Being a pirate is the best! I mean there's no telling what could happen out in the sea...!"
"The sea..."
Faythe looked down at the reindeer, fiddling with his hoofs. Her eyes softened at the sight.
"Do you wanna see the sea with us?" She asked lightly.
"WHAT!? NO WAY! I MEAN I'M A REINDEER WITH A BLUE NOSE!" He shouted out his excuse.
"Hello fellow animal, I'm a parrot." Faythe laughed quietly.
"BUT I HAVE A BLUE NOSE AND..." He trailed off, thinking.
"I really don't care either way if you have a blue nose..." Faythe smiled quietly, "I've seen enough to not be scared of you.."
"WELL I CAN'T!" The reindeer shouted before racing out of the doorway.
Faythe let out a sigh, "Well, there goes my company.."
"Then I'll keep you company."
Faythe looked up to see a very old, spunky looking woman. She wore a high crop top with pink cherry blossoms circling eachother to form a star. Her pants were a dark shake of purple with pink fading out on her left leg. Wearing all sorts of jewelry, such as bracelets, a belly button ring, and some golden shades that sat on top of her head, with her wearing some sunglasses on her eyes as well. She was carrying around a bottle of rum or wine, she assumed.
"I'm assuming your Dr. Kureha?" Faythe's laughing face faded away and a hard glare that was sent her way.
"Yes, yes, I'm Dr. Kureha, call me 'Doctress'. And don't glare at me like that, it'll form furrows between your brows." The old woman stated walking forward, popping a squat just in front of her.
She lifted up the broken and numb arm, testing if it was in pain.
"Tell me the injuries..." Faythe muttered quietly, not glaring anymore, but her eyes not so happy about the situation.
"If that's what you want.." The woman sighed, getting back up to grab a clipboard off the table nearby.
"Let's see here.. 6 broken ribs.. and cracked spine.. A shattered bone was found in that little wing of yours. And a head collision to whatever you hit." The old granny listed off things, but trailed off seeing Faythe's face turn pale..
"Did you see it..?" Her voice only but a whisper, she scrunched her legs close to her chest, wrapping her arms around them.
"...If your asking about the Slave Imprint, I did." The granny said, not meeting the girl's eyes, "I had to in order to help fix your body."
"Oh great... Now a doctor knows.." Faythe whimpered.
"Have you heard of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder..? Or in short PTSD?" The doctor finally looked up to see the girl's expression but was only given a blank one.
"W-What.. is that? Do I have it?" Faythe muttered out, pressing her hands on her head.
"Yes.. Unfortunately. It means, people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, a serious accident, a terrorist act, war/combat, or rape or who have been threatened with death, sexual violence or serious injury. There are four types of PTSD but what you have is intrusive memories."
Faythe was silent, listening to the explanation, "What does Intrusive memories do to the person...?" She asked, hoping it wasn't what she was thinking.
"Recurrent, unwanted distressing memories of the traumatic event. Flashbacks. Upsetting dreams or nightmares about the traumatic event. Basically when you are in a situation that resembles what happened in the past, memories may appear."
"So... Ive lost my memories.."
"Tell me.. Do you know who your family is?" The doctor asked seriously.
"My crewmates..?" Faythe muttered thinking about how Yimo defined the family word.
"That's cute, but no, not that kind of family." The woman sighed, "I mean your flesh and blood. Your mom, dad, brothers, sisters?"
Faythe was left silent, thinking hard about this, she tried to think hard about it, trying to know what they look like or sound even. But she couldn't even remember past that day.
"It seems that traumatic event has to include your family, and now it's blocked every memory, that includes your family." The doctor concluded.
"My... Family.." Faythe said quietly, still trying to figure out who they were.
The woman finished off her bottle with one last long swig, throwing the empty bottle at the wall, made the girl flinch at the shatter, "C'mon, let's go visit that orange girly." She grinned, getting up. She walked towards a table, grabbing a large cloth. She turned to Faythe quickly and wrapped it around her shoulder and placed both her arms to support them.
"Your arms are the only thing that needs to heal. You can walk now can you?" The Doctress laughed at this and walked out the room. Faythe frantically and awkwardly got up, running after her.
After moments of walking, they stopped at a door. Dr. Kureha turned to Faythe, "I want you to stay here for a moment, come in when I call you." She said sternly.
"O-Okay.." Faythe nodded, and crouched down at the door. leaning her back on the wall. looking down at her hands, she noticed them shaking, shaking out of happiness and excitement to see Nami again. She didn't know why the Doctress told her to stay out here, but she followed her orders none the less.
The doctress saved her crewmates lives, she wanted to do something to help that. She sighed out, trying to calm her nerves.
Loud noises to her left, interrupted her thoughts, making her look up and see Luffy and Sanji chasing the little reindeer she talked to awhile ago. They veered a right into Nami's room, causing havoc.
"GYAAAAA! HEEEELP!" The reindeer shouted out scared and pissed.
"STOP RIGHT THERE, YOU PIECE OF MEAT!" Luffy shouted, his mouth already latched onto the poor reindeer's leg.
"Hold your horses, Luffy. I'll first make sure to season it up first." Sanji said grinning, "If we're going to eat it, we might as well eat right, you know?"
Faythe snorted at this, feeling relieved seeing those two alright and going crazy. Letting out a sigh, she heaved herself, using the wall for support. She busted the door open, putting on a bright smile.
"EYO! How ya'll doing!?" Faythe cheered happily. Earning her surprised gasps from her crewmates.
"FAYTHE!"
"FAYTHE-CHAN!"
"FAE!?" Nami said worriedly as she saw her arms in slings.
"Glad to know ya'll care." Faythe let out a soft laugh, walking towards Nami, while the boys continued their dog chase with the reindeer.
"Fae! Are you okay??" Nami waved her hands worriedly.
"Ya, ya I'm okay, nothing to worry about, just broke a few bones and all." Faythe smiled softly.
"Oh.. If you say so!" Nami let out a relieved sigh.
The old Doctress let out a annoyed huff, watching the interaction happen, making Faythe send her a sharp glare.
"QUIT IT, YOU HUMANS!"
"STOP RUNNING AWAY FROM ME MEAT!"
"Luffy, I told you not to eat him yet!"
"I HATE HUMANS LIKE YOU!"
Faythe, Nami, and the Doctress watched from the side as they continued to rustle.
"You want to know what he is?" The woman spoke up, "He's Chopper, just an average blue-nosed reindeer.."
"But reindeers can't talk!" Nami pointed out.
"I SAID STOP!" Luffy shouted, grabbing ahold of the reindeer's shoulder which seemed to started growing in size.
"But with one catch." The Doctress smirked.
"IM NOT YOUR FOOD!" Chopper shouted, in a human like form, but was still covered in fur.
"He ate the HitoHito Fruit, which granted him human abilities."
"DAMIT!" With that Chopper ran out the door, running for his life. Tears falling behind him.
"I poured in all my medical skill and knowledge in him." Dr. Kureha smiled fondly, watching the reindeer run.
