[THIRD POV]

REMINDER, THIS BOOK IS A YANDERE FANFICTION, SO THERE CAN BE VIOLENCE, SEX, AND OTHER GRAPHIC DETAILS-- READ WITH CAUTION!

"(Y/N)!"

Oh fucking hell.

It had to be the one person (Y/N) didn't want to interact with.

Oikawa Tooru.

The damned president of Izanagi student council.

The damned mastermind manipulator.

The one who brought the best out of everyone.

The one who (Y/N) couldn't predict anything out of.

He was the man who no one wanted to mess with, the man who everyone praised, the man everyone looked up to.

All in which (Y/N) opposed.

She didn't even turn around, that voice of his was uncanny. Oikawa slowed down, smirking when (Y/N) kept running.

"Oh it's so useless to keep running darling," he said, as if (Y/N) could hear him, "I'm the one who found you after all."

"I'm the greatest track star there ever is to live."

"Your chances of winning are the same as my weaknesses-"

"They don't exist."

Oikawa had this one in the bag, he just knew it. Inhaling and exhaling, taking deep breaths, his eyes were set onto the running figure in his field of view.

He was ready to claim his prize after this long and strenuous game.

'Cause if anyone was going to win, it was going to be the Oikawa Tooru.

No exceptions were made.

「❮ 𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓾𝓮...❯」

(Y/N) kept on running, despite her desire to just fall over and die, she kept on running.

Oikawa Tooru, she met him when she was young, at a rich people's gathering, she couldn't help but feel even more panic when she was found by. She would have wanted to be found by anyone but Oikawa, that was how much she was uncertain in this situation.

Oikawa was considered a king amongst others, no joke. It was like he was a celebrity or he was some sort of superhero, his fame had only begun when he was young, imagine his popularity when he becomes older.

But that wasn't the reason why she necessarily feared Oikawa.

Oikawa was the mastermind. Every bit of the details in the plans since the beginning of their last school year was by Oikawa and no one else. Everyone was a pawn, and he was the player. At this point, he cared no more for his friends in the student council.

He waited too long to win, too long for this to end on a bad note. He was making the best of it, it was him who made the rules, him who yearned for the touch of (Y/N), him who would win the prize.

He wouldn't hold back, even on some poor girl who's strength was zero at this point.

She continued running, she was like a car, except her fuel had run out. She was now burning up- on the verge of overheating and exploding.

She couldn't help but slow down, she hated her legs and her stamina to be so low, but it couldn't be helped.

When she slowed down, she slowly stopped as well. And she gasped for air, so violently and heavily.

She stopped completely, hands on her knees as she hunched over. She was breathing erratically, as if her lungs were destroyed.

There was silence in the air, with the exception of (Y/N)'s heart beating out of her chest. That was loud, she wondered if others could hear it. She doubted it, but she still worried.

Why was it silent in the forest?

She stood up, straightened her back and looked behind her, seeing no sign of anyone after her. She thought that maybe she lost Oikawa, it could have been pure luck that he ran into something that postponed his chase. She only hoped that, to be honest.

But she kept listening in, perhaps Oikawa was sneaking up on her, ready to hold her down and put her unconscious. Or drug her. Or hurt her.

She was prepared for the worst, nothing more or less could happen than from what she was thinking. All yandere boys thought the same, they handled their victims in way that were in one or two ways, no different than the previous or next.

Oikawa would have been the same as the others, she thought, Oikawa would use his strength and his might to restrain (Y/N) and take her away.

She knew that he was bigger, he was better, and he was stronger, she was obviously no chance against the likes of him.

Which all made her, again, uncertain.

Still heavily breathing and panting, she looked ahead of her to try to figure out a plan. She didn't know her location in this large godforsaken forest, she didn't know how far she was from the edges. If she were close, she'd just sacrifice everything and make a run for it, but did she really want to test that out?

Wasting energy and her time on finding an exit could be used against her. If she is no where near the edges of the forest, where civilization and society was bound to be, then she would be falling into the success of Oikawa's.

What he wanted was (Y/N) weakened, that was his primary goal.

But what followed after was a mystery.

A painful mystery.

She looked up at the sky, seeing the moon was white and bright. She breathed into the cold winter air, feeling hot and warm instead of freezing and numbing.

What should she do now? Test the ultimate plan of running straight in hopes of finding the edges, or should she figure out something else?

Because right now, the only thing (Y/N) could think of is running-

Running on low fuel.

Running on no fuel.

She shook her head, looking back down on the ground as she placed her hands back on her knees. She tried to slow down her breathing, calming herself down if she could.

But she was panicking.

It was silent in the forest, no sign of Oikawa. No sign of anything, not even a crunching leaf, she can't help but wonder where everyone else is.

But to be fair, the forest was large, expanding at least ten miles. Everyone could be anywhere, anyone could be everywhere, it was all a disaster for the poor girl wanting to escape.

"I should just run and hope I fall down in a ditch where I can die in peace," (Y/N) said to herself, "Hell seems better to be in now."

"Oh?"

Her heart jumped out of her chest and into hell.

"Is that so..."

Her heart waited for her in hell.

(Y/N) looked up from her panting, and she looked in front of her. Emerging from the tall and thick trees was Oikawa.

The leaves crunching were almost silent, how Oikawa could do that was beyond her, in fact, that wasn't even the problem at this point.

Oikawa had found her, and she was in no position to run at this point.

She was just an average girl, that versus a man like Oikawa?

That was like a single ant versus a human.

"Oikawa," she gulped, "You're... You're."

"A loss of words?" Oikawa chuckled, "That's cute darling, you haven't seen me in forever and yet you're a stuttering mess."

"How adorable you are."

She shook her head, tears spilling out of her eyes. "Oikawa, why are you doing this?"

"Why did you... why did you start all of this?"

"Start all of what?"

"This!"

Oikawa knew damn well what she was referring to, but he wanted her to say it.

"You killed, manipulated, tortured, framed- you did all of that just to get to me," she cried softly, the pain of the memories of it all surged through her body, "It's all because of you that everything is hellish and-and ruined!"

"You took everything I had and destroyed it!"

Oikawa sighed, looking up at the sky.

"You hate sob-stories, you think they are no excuse for anything as extreme as what I have measured," Oikawa said, "But my entire reasoning was based from a sob-story."

(Y/N) bit her lip, her brows furrowing at Oikawa who only avoided (Y/N)'s hardened gaze.

She wanted to know the truth. She wanted to know why Oikawa was the origin of this tragedy.

Her silence urged Oikawa to tell his story, and she only hoped that in the end, she wouldn't feel sorry for him.

"I considered high-school to be a huge game when I entered it; such as an academy that we both attend, it was elite and I had to make a name for myself."

"When I did, I managed to grab everyone's attention, be it my looks or my talents, but I never did catch your eyes flutter to mine, (Y/N)."

"So, with the help of my best-friend, I grew to become someone who now everyone is jealous or amazed of."

"All of what I did in order to become this great king was for you, (Y/N), to catch your attention."

"But no matter hard I tried, no matter what I did."

"You never once did look at me."

"Not even for a moment."

"All I wanted was you and your attention," Oikawa said, a bit of hurt tone on his end shocked (Y/N) as he has never heard him speak this way, "I felt like if I could have you look once at me, I could have all of you afterwards."

"But it never happened."

"So I had to resort to other things that could captivate you."

(Y/N) widened her eyes at that, when she knew that this was the turning point.

"Killing, manipulating, torturing, framing, they were all things that got you to even start talking," Oikawa grinned at himself, "You were a sweet, innocent, kind mind, I valued those things most about you."

"You see (Y/N)..." Oikawa had a tear escape from his eye, it rolled down his cheek slowly and painfully.

"My heart had been broken so many times in the past, my rivalry with other boys have only been, truthfully, excruciatingly painful."

"All I wanted was a girl who I couldn't share, a girl who I could love, a girl who didn't want anybody but me."

"I never had that once in my life, despite being with many girls, they all turned out to be the same."

"They wanted me for my wealth, my power, no one wanted me for my love."

"No one's love came from a natural stance, no one had that innocent kind of love where they dreamt about the future, where they hoped for for the long term."

"No one had your type of love, (Y/N)."

"(Y/N)," Oikawa walked up to her, holding her by the shoulders as he looked at her with the pain leaking out of his eyes, "Please, please try to understand me."

"I'm a man who's heart has been broken, stepped on, used, burned- all of that," Oikawa said, "I just want to be loved by someone like you, someone who's loyalty was real, someone's love who was pure."

"I waited this entire time and did everything I could to get to the top because I thought you would finally notice me."

"Hell, we even met each other when we were younger through our parents, and you still did not even bat an eye."

"None of it worked, so I had to do something else."

"I killed to get your attention, I was obsessed with you, it was the only way you'd even talk to me."

"Please understand me, please try to," he begged; Oikawa's head lowered as he gripped (Y/N)'s shoulder, she was stunned and frozen with what Oikawa was spouting, "I never wanted to make you sad, I never wanted to make you upset."

"I just wanted your attention, and you never gave it to me unless I hurt someone you cared about."

"I-I even... pretended to be a person who could help you because I knew you would never willingly talk to me."

"I care so much for you... so please (Y/N), believe me that when I say this all, it was for you to finally notice me."

"Please notice that all I wanted out of this was for you to give me your attention and to give me your love."

"Because I love you, (Y/N)."

"I love you too much to let you go when I am this close to having you."

(Y/N) didn't know what to say to this.

It wasn't the story she was expecting.

In summary, Oikawa was done being used by girls he loved-

He was a lover who overloved.

When he met (Y/N), when he saw how she loved, he just knew that she would be perfect for him. He never gave up on her, and he tried his hardest to catch her attention, but failed for two years. On the last, after climbing to the top, it was useless, and he needed another way before (Y/N) was gone.

That is why he became a mastermind manipulator.

Even though he was working with people who also shared the same taste in girl, he hated them; he used them.

As they were the pawns and he was the player.

He used every single person- and he disposed of them along the way.

He had people kill, people write rumors, people want other people dead-

It was all to Oikawa's power and ability that he was capable of doing.

After all, he brought the best out of people.

He could put them towards a goal they never knew existed.

That was horrifyingly, Oikawa's true talent.

(Y/N) shook her head as she slowly peeled Oikawa off of her, he was in shock with what she was doing.

"Oikawa," she said, her hands on his shoulders as she looked at him with a pained expression, "You're insane."

He felt his whole world crumble.

"I know someone who was just like you," she said to him, "He waited longer than you have, and he didn't do anything even as close to what you did to catch my attention."

"He waited a lifetime, you waited only a high-school career."

"He respected me and my choices in love, you killed or imprisoned those who had a past relationship with me."

"He was patient with me, valuing our friendship more than the girlfriend-boyfriend relationship, you murdered, blackmailed, tortured, imprisoned anyone who dared to touch me."

"I don't understand you at all, Oikawa," she teared up, "You're insane if you think I will sympathize with you and your psychotic sob story."

"Someone was fighting a much longer and bloody battle than you, Oikawa Tooru."

Everything (Y/N) said was her reply to Oikawa. She felt no remorse, if she had to be honest.

Yes, Oikawa experienced a very tough and heartbreaking life during his high-school year, wanting love from someone as great as (Y/N)-

But because he killed, because he ruined, because he destroyed (Y/N) and everything around her, she couldn't forgive him, no matter how sad he made it sound.

It was no excuse to give (Y/N) this trauma.

(Y/N) shook her head, letting go of Oikawa's shoulder, she looked up at him with her glossy eyes. Learning the truth was definitely painful, but she knew that it was all just trying to guilt-trip her, to make it seem like it was all (Y/N)'s fault.

"I'm sorry but-"

"So be it."

Oikawa's demeanor had changed completely.

A very painful chill went down (Y/N)'s spine.

Oikawa straightened his posture, pulling out his gun, one that had a large, pink lipstick mark at the mouth of the gun.

(Y/N) stepped back, carefully.

"I believe my game of high-school isn't over yet," he said, touching the lipstick mark of the gun as he looked (Y/N) dead in the eyes, "It seems that I haven't received my prize yet."

"O-Oikawa..." she took more steps back, gulping hardly, "What are you going to do...?"

"Finishing this off with something I wished I never had to resort to."

"A-And what do you mean by that?"

Oikawa smirked devilishly.

"I am the greatest runner of all time, I have been doing track for the longest of times. My endurance, my stamina, both I have excellent statistics on."

"But I like to hold back, sometimes."

"With that being said, let's finish this together, hm (Y/N)?"

(Y/N) took another step back.

"The game I started in high-school is now ending right then and here."

"I will claim my prize because I have worked my ass off trying to get it."

"And now, this is going to be the moment I do."

"I will give you 60 seconds to run in the forest, in any direction, in any speed, in any form you want," Oikawa said to her, "But to win the game will be differently for the both of us."

"If you win, I'll leave you alone forever now. You will be free to escape and do whatever you want."

"But if I win, you'll be mine for the rest of our lives. And you will have no say."

"Doesn't the game sound so fun? It is definitely best when there are only two players left on the field."

"Two players... left on the field."

Then it dawned to her.

There was silence in the air, with the exception of (Y/N)'s heart beating out of her chest. That was loud, she wondered if others could hear it. She doubted it, but she still worried.

Why was it silent in the forest?

Oikawa Tooru murdered the rest of the student council, and it was in no doubt that he killed Konoha too.

(Y/N)'s mouth hung open when the realization hit her, and Oikawa only smiled.

"I no longer needed them, after I found Konoha myself, it was my job to kill the others to make sure they wouldn't betray me or find you themselves." he explained.

"So, you and I have the entire forest to ourselves!"

(Y/N) felt absolutely sick to her stomach.

80% of the student council was dead, and her own best-friend was killed as well.

What more... could she lose?

She didn't have anything more, she was by herself now.

"You look ready now, I can see the pain forming on your face, Konoha's death was hard, it reminded me of him at the hospital-"

"He just wouldn't die."

"Well, not until I decorated his body with my silver bullets."

"God, his last words were just disgusting lies, saying how you were going to escape and bring justice for everyone I had killed, it was almost sickening."

"Shut up!" (Y/N) yelled at him, "Just shut up!"

She was overwhelmed, to say the least. She covered her ears as she shut her eyes tight.

It couldn't be real, it just couldn't.

"Konoha's dead, (Y/N), just face reality." Oikawa said from afar, the distance (Y/N) put between them was a little more than what she realized.

"Not everything can go the way you want it, no matter how hard you try."

"I just learned that lesson a few minutes ago-"

(Y/N) began to run, she couldn't hear his voice anymore. It pained her when he talked oh-so carelessly about deaths and dying, like he was one to experience it.

"Oh, you've started, then I should start on the time too."

He stared at his wrist-watch, waiting for the clock to start at a new minute, when it did, he began to countdown as he looked straight ahead of him.

He could clearly hear her cries, her breathing, her everything, and yet he stood there, fondling with his gun in the air as if it were a plaything.

He stood there with one hand in his pocket, the other playing with the gun. He had a bored expression, counting down slowly as (Y/N) ran through the forest.

This was the final game that determined whether or not Oikawa would win the most prized possession.

And Oikawa already knew who had won.

「❮ 𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓾𝓮...❯」

60 seconds had gone by fast, yet (Y/N) felt like she had been running for hours. She doubted that Oikawa was a long distance shooter, but she didn't want to test it.

She changed her direction of movements every time she saw a broken branch, which was quite often.

She wasn't keeping track of time, so she didn't know how many seconds she had left before Oikawa began shooting. She just knew she had to put a lot of distance and use the geography around her to her advantage.

Staying behind the thick wooded trees and running through them with her back to it was her ultimate strategy, because Oikawa would win if a bullet merely grazed her even.

She never felt this motivated to run, perhaps it was because she was against the greatest runner of all time that was also the most psychotic person alive.

All this time, she thought Oikawa had sense into him. While running, she also had things in her mind that were jumping too.

Oikawa had loved her because of her style on love. She was a pure lover, wanting something just more than wealth or power or even looks. All was what Oikawa had achieved on getting at some point, but failed to catch (Y/N) with any of it.

She never did once find interest in Oikawa, why? It was unknown, he never did anything that piqued her interests.

She noticed Semi because he was the first to ever approach her.

She noticed Kita because he was the first to ever take her mind off of her disastrous break-up, after a long time of falling into that hole of despair.

She noticed Konoha because he was the only person who waited more than a lifetime just for her.

What did Oikawa do?

He was the only person who killed everyone around them just for her.

There was a huge difference in that, and she saw it more clearly than Oikawa hoped.

Everything was done for, if she survived, Oikawa would be the only one going to jail, not the other four. Then again, he was the mastermind who ordered the others, who used everyone to fulfill his own selfish love desires.

'When I am done with this... I hope you rot in hell Oikawa Tooru.'

'Your love for me was nothing but pure selfishness.'

'I will never love you the way you want to be loved.'

'You were heartbroken, I get that, but you did the wrong things to catch my attention.'

'Killing people for me, that's the last thing I would ever want.'

In the end of all of this, (Y/N) was put into a calamity-

Everything happened because a boy wanted her attention.

It wasn't her fault that she didn't give him any.

But it felt like it.

"It doesn't matter anymore." she said to herself.

'Eita, Yachi, Iwaizumi, Tendou, Sugawara, Yaku, Hinata, Kageyama, Akaashi, Kenma-'

A smiling memory of Konoha Akinori appeared in her mind.

'Aki...'

'I love you all, and I will make sure you guys are recognized when I finally wake up from this never-ending nightmare.'

"What matters is that I won't lose to Oikawa-"

Bang.

A stinging pain with blood splattering to the ground ceased (Y/N)'s running.

(Y/N)'s body fell to the ground in just seconds.

A bullet pierced through the one thing that was broken from the start.

Her heart.

"Hm," Oikawa slowly walked towards (Y/N)'s body, that was laying on the ground, the blood formed a huge pool on her shirt and on the ground beneath her, "I finally got your heart, (Y/N)."

"Oi...kawa..." she didn't know what happened, how it happened, how Oikawa caught up to her so fast and shot her in the one place that was guaranteed to kill her.

"Ah, that is right." Oikawa said, sadly.

"If you die, you will be gone, and I won't have anyone to love anymore."

"That's why-"

Oikawa pointed the gun at his own heart.

"I'll die with you."

(Y/N)'s vision slowly blackened and all her senses were fading away quickly.

But all she remembered was hearing a thump next to her.

"See you soon..."

"(Y/N)..."

「❮ 𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓾𝓮...❯」

(Y/N) gasped.

She woke up in her bed, panting for air.

She grabbed her own face, crying her eyes out as she panicked.

She was confused, alarmed- fucking scared for her life when everything in her vision and senses were restored.

"(Y/N)!"

She looked beside her, seeing none other than Oikawa Tooru sitting upright beside her.

He was her husband, and they were laying in bed together after a tiring day of work.

"Are you okay darling?!"

Tooru got out from the blankets and pulled (Y/N) to him, hugging her tightly as she cried into her shoulder.

"T-Tooru," she cried so hard, "I had a fucking- everything was so bad... you were insane and you killed everyone just to love me- Aki was dead and-and-"

"Shhh now," Tooru rubbed her back, trying to calm her cries and her breathing down, "It... it wasn't real darling."

(Y/N) held onto him for dear life, still pouring her eyes out.

"You died, Tooru..." she said to him, "You died right beside me... you shot me and then shot yourself..."

"Why did you do that?!"

"I-I don't know darling," Tooru replied, "Please, baby, stop crying."

After a few minutes of trying to calm down, (Y/N) sat on Tooru's lap, still being consoled by him. She wiped her eyes, which were puffy and red, and she was visibly shaking out of fear.

She explained to him every bit of what she saw, every single detail, she didn't leave anything out. Tooru sat there, nodding and listening as he rubbed her back.

"It felt so real Tooru," she quietly said, "It was like I was there..."

"But you weren't," he assured her, "It's okay."

"It was just a nightmare."

She sniffled, nodding.

"Let's go back to bed now, okay baby?"

She nodded again, crawling under the sheets. This time, she snuggled closer to Tooru's chest, holding onto his shirt that was scrunched up by her hand.

She fell fast asleep, Tooru turned off the lamp and softly grunted as he rested his head on top of her's.

What (Y/N) had a nightmare of.

Was something from the past.

Something that Oikawa swore he removed from (Y/N)'s memories.

That's why he almost killed her.

Oikawa didn't shoot himself, he wanted her to think he did in order to make her think that he was going down with her- if not, (Y/N) would try her best to fight it off and stay alive.

The thump she heard was faint due to her senses failing, but it was just Oikawa's gun that fell.

He then got to work after nearly killing his future wife. He didn't shoot her directly at the heart, he only shot near it, where she'd pass out for a long time- enough time to for the creation of Oikawa's long-term dreams.

Also known as (Y/N)'s never-ending nightmares.

The point of it all was Oikawa's only way to end "the game", to reset everything.

He never wanted to resort it to this, but he had no choice. (Y/N) had no intention of going with him, so he shot her to put her unconscious, then fixed her and created his perfect dreams with (Y/N).

He forced her to sleep for a long time in order for her to forget every little thing. She was unconscious, but like Konoha when he was in the hospital, he could still hear things, so he implemented his own details in order to create a story where Oikawa Tooru and (L/N) (F/N) were a couple who's fate was to be together forever.

In the end, he succeeded, but he was frightened to death when (Y/N) remembered the night it all happened.

So, he could only think.

"Please do not go back into the past... what will happen when you remember everything I have done for you?" Tooru whispered into the air.

"No matter."

"I'll just keep doing the same thing until you grow tired and fearful of it."

"I will implement my mini lies into your weak mind to keep you from leaving."

"I will limit your questions with vague answers."

"I will continue to manipulate you with any and all scanty detail that will turn you insane and too stressed to find out the truth."

"After all." Tooru said as he closed his eyes.

"It's the small things that matter, right?"
