Chapter 21. Meeting His Parents

“You look beautiful” Sallie said the boutique owner were currently at.
I wore a simple peach skater dress
paired with cream stiletto pointed heels, which complements my body and skin tone well. The make-up is simple and my hair is tied into a ponytail
I blushed in her compliment “Eh siyempre kayo po nag style sa akin eh”
Our conversation ended when Clyde suddenly came.
I don't know what to react when I saw him. I can't deny his really handsome. No wonder girls turned their heads when they see him.
He wears a navy-blue blazer and white t-shirt underneath paired with grey trousers and white sneakers.
I don't know how long we keep staring at each other until Sallie breaks the silence.
“The both of you are gorgeous”
“Thank you/Thanks” we both said in unison.
We bid our goodbyes to Sallie. She is a really great person. She does an amazing job styling me.
Clyde start the car engine and were ready to go. There's still silence surrounding around us.
In my side mas lalo akong kinabahan. I don't know why, but I think it's because I'm going to meet Clyde's parents and I am having negative thoughts of what will happen in the party.
Which is a bad habit of mine. Everytime I feel nervous over a situation or occasions I tend to think negatively of what will happen. I tried to be positive but negative thoughts are always there.
I saw Clyde taking a glance at me pero hindi ko siya pinansin. Bahala siya sa buhay niya. I am not mad or something I just really feel very nervous right now.
Hanggang ngayon I still can't believe it na isasama niya ako sa birthday party ng mama niya. Ano nga lang ba ako I'm just his roommate not even a relative or even his girlfriend kaya bakit niya ako isasama sa party na ganito.
The car stopped in front of the house.
Bumaba si Clyde kaya hindi na ako nagatubili pa at bumaba na din.
“Clyde! Iho” I assumed that this lady who called him is his mother.
One word to describe her. Beautiful. She's literally so freakin beautiful. Mukha siyang amerikana.
Her eyes is just like Clyde brown hazel nut. She has a beautiful soft lips. She's almost glowing.
“Mom, happy birthday” Clyde said and kissed his mother in the cheeks.
In response his mother hugged him tightly and said “I miss you so much Iho”
Her eyes averted to me, she sweetly smiled. “I'm sorry I'm too overwhelmed to see my son. You are?”
“Faye Caballero po Ma'am.” I tried my best not to feel nervous.
“Nice meeting you Iha. Just call me Tita Sandrah.”
Kahit nanginginig ang kamay ko ay binigay ko sa kanya ang regalo ko.
“What's this?” she asked curiously.
“Birthday gift ko po sa inyo. Sana po ay magustuhan niyo kahit hindi masyadong bongga. Happy birthday po”
Kanina I asked Clyde to stop in the mall. I wanted to give her mother a gift kahit simple lang. At the end, I bought a scarf for her.
“Nag-abala ka pa talaga. Thank you Iha.” She then hugged me at hindi ako makapaniwala sa ginawa niya. “Let's go inside, huwag kang mahiya Faye.”
Pumasok na kami sa loob the party is not totally big. I assumed family, friends, and relatives lang ang nandito.
Ate Cassandra saw us and waved from a far. She then walks towards us.
She hugged her brother “Glad you came, look at mom she's literally happy seeing you” She said while looking at their mother. “Happy to see you here too Faye”
Dahil nahihiya ako I just smiled in response. Naiwan kaming dalawa ni Clyde.
He hold my hand tightly. I got shock and just stared at our hands. I felt some electric volts running through my veins the moment he hold my hands. My hearts started to beat crazily again.
Anong ginagawa niya baka mapagkamalan pa akong girlfriend niya dito.
“Anong ginagawa mo?” I whispered.
“I told you I'll never leave you here”
Pilit akong kumalas sa kamay niya “Clyde bitawan mo ako baka ano pang isipin nila nakakahiya”
“I don't give a damn of what they think. Your hands are cold. Don't get nervous”
Dinala mo kasi ako dito kaya kinakabahan ako.
“Clyde! Iho” Lumingon kaming dalawa sa taong tumawag ng pangalan niya.
“Tita Olivia” He hugged her and kissed her in the cheeks.
Ma'am Olivia averted her gaze to me and smiled. “Kaya naman pala pinagpa-alam mo si Faye sa akin kanina”
I shyly looked at Ma'am Olivia.
“I'm sorry Tita I didn't give enough reason to let her go off to work early” Clyde said.
Tumawa naman si Ma'am Olivia “Oh no worries iho!”
Nang maka-upo na kami ay hindi niya parin binitawan ang kamay ko. Buti na lang at nong kumain na kami ay saka lang niya binitawan ang kamay ko.
“Who's this girl Clyde? Introduce her to us” Clyde's father suddenly break the silence in our table.
“She's Faye” Clyde simply said. I got nervous again feeling the tension between them.
“Christopher not now” Ma'am Sandrah used a warning tone to his husband, perhaps stopping him to say anything.
Clyde's father shrugged “What I'm just asking who's this girl”
“Good evening Sir” I nervously said.
Hindi na siya sumagot at sa halip ay tumango lang siya.
“She's Clyde's friend Dad” Ate Cassandrah explained.
“Let's just enjoy this day everyone. Mom, Happy birthday. You know how much we loved you always and forever.” Clyde's brother said and toased a glass of wine.
Everybody greeted a happy birthday and started eating.
After I was done eating, I excused myself and went to the restroom. Paglabas ko ay nakita ko ang kuya ni Clyde.
“Faye right?” I nod, je extends his hands “I'm Cedrick, Clyde's brother”
“Nice to meet you po”
“You're the first girl he ever brought in this house, makes me wonder” he said which made me confused.
Clyde suddenly came “What are you two talking about?”
“Nothing, I just introduced myself” he turned to face Clyde and smiled “Next time let's see each other again and bond just like before Clyde.” He then left us.
“Close kayo ng kuya mo?”
“Before”
We went to the living room, umuwi na halos lahat ang mga bisita at kami na lang ni Clyde ang natira.
“We'll go now Mom” Clyde said.
I saw how her mother's face sadded “I thought you're gonna stay here”
“I can't mom I'm sorry. Ipapadala ko po ang birthday gift ko sayo soon, it's not yet finished. I got busy painting some works”
“You're still painting huh” Clyde's father suddenly came.
Tumingin ako kay Clyde and I saw how he stiffened and got angry.
“Ano na naman toh Dad”
“I told you already to stop that damn painting dahil wala kang mapapala diyan. Start working in our company just like your brother!”
“Christopher!” Ma'am Sandrah stops her husband.
Clyde sighed and looked at her sister at the back “You see now Ate this is the reason why I don't want to come here anymore” he said “I'm tired of arguing. Paulit-ulit na lang Dad” Pagkatapos ay tumalikod siya at naunang maglakad.
“Ma'am happy birthday po ulit. Don't worry po, I'll comfort him.” I said. She smiled and nodded.
Dali-dali akong pumasok sa sasakyan.
I stayed silent and took a glance of him from time to time, checking if his alright.
