"Bye, Thor," I said, hugging him tightly.
Thor was going off-world to see how Frigga and Odin were doing. Loki decided to stay on earth with me.
"Heimdall!" Thor called.
The rainbow bridge crashed down from the sky and sucked Thor up, leaving a burn mark in the roof.
"Tony's not gonna like that," I said, wincing a little bit.
Loki chuckled and wrapped an arm around my shoulders.
"What are we going to do now, my Angel?" he asked.
I melted at the nickname. It didn't matter how many times he used it; I would never get enough of it.
"Food?" I suggested.
Loki chuckled and nodded.
"Let's get McDonald's," I said.
We walked through the tower and down towards the carpark. We got into the car, me driving and Loki in the passenger seat.
I put the keys into the ignition and the two back doors opened. Bucky and Sam slid in the car.
"Heard we were going to McDonald's," Sam said as a way of explanation.
I just shrugged and drove to the fast food restaurant. We got to the drive-thru.
"Okay, what do you all want?" I asked.
"Can I have a McFlurry?" Bucky asked.
"Sure," I said.
Everyone else told me their orders and I told the drive-thru server. When we got to the window to pay, the teen who was working at the window nearly fainted at the sight of four Avengers. We got our food and I drove to Midtown Tech.
"Why are we going to the Spider-kid's school?" Sam asked, shovelling fries into his mouth.
"Peter's doing a presentation on Norse mythology," I said. "Thor couldn't make it, but Loki and I said we would go."
"Right, because you're a Norse Goddess," Bucky said, nodding.
"Well, yeah, but I'm not in the mythology because I was born nineteen years ago, rather than a thousand," I said.
I parked the car in the Midtown carpark.
"You guys can come too, if you want. Just don't break anything," I said.
"We'll stay in here," Sam said.
I finished off my fries before wiping my fingers and grabbing Loki's hand. We walked into the school and signed in. Peter was called to come and meet us.
"Hi y/n! Hi Loki! Thank you guys so much for coming!" Peter said.
He wrapped his arms around me in a tight hug. His super-strength got the better of him and he nearly crushed my bones, even though I was Asgardian. Peter then gave Loki a hug, to his pleasant surprise.
"Okay, let's go!" Peter announced.
Peter waved to the receptionist and she waved back with her mouth slightly agape. Peter led us down the school hallways, talking about Star Wars and science. When we reached the classroom door, Peter turned to face us.
"Please don't embarrass me," he pleaded.
"We won't. We promise," I said.
Peter knocked on the door and entered. There was a collective gasp from the class as Loki and I stepped into the classroom. There were murmurs and whispers as the class looked at us.
"Okay, Peter, you can start your presentation now," the teacher said.
Peter began talking to the class about our mythology. He got Loki to demonstrate his powers, earning gasps of awe from the class. Then he got to the part about Sigyn.
"Now, in the mythology, Sigyn is Loki's wife. This is wrong because-" Peter began, but his teacher cut him off.
"No, Sigyn is Loki's wife," the teacher said.
"No, Peter is correct," Loki said. "I never wed Sigyn, nor did I have any type of romantic relations with her."
The teacher looked slightly taken aback.
"Er, alright then. Continue, Peter," the teacher said.
Peter continued on with his presentation. Once he was finished, Loki and I stayed to watch the other kids.
Were schools on Asgard like this? I asked Loki telepathically.
I'm not sure. I was tutored, like my brother, Loki told me.
I didn't go to school, I said. Hydra had people tutor me, too.
Loki growled faintly and I placed a hand on his knee. Soon enough, the class ended, and we exited with Peter.
"What have you got now?" I asked Peter.
"Free period," Peter said. "I have to get a guardian to sign me out to go home, though, so I'm just going to hang out in the library."
"Do you want to go home?" I asked.
Peter narrowed his eyes at me and nodded his head slowly.
"I'll call Tony," I said.
Peter blushed.
"There – there's n-no need for Mr Stark to-"
"He would love to come and pick you up," I said, dialling the number.
Tony picked up just before it went to voicemail.
"You were just looking at the phone that whole time, weren't you?" I stated.
"Maybe, or maybe not. What's up?" Tony asked.
"Can you come to Peter's school to let him out? He has a free period now and it's the last period of the day," I said.
"Why didn't the kid call me?" Tony asked, sounding slightly disappointed.
"He didn't want to cause a fuss," I said.
"Oh. Yeah, I'll come. I need to show him his new suit, anyway," Tony said. "Hold on, I'll just let May know and I'll be there in a few minutes."
Tony hung up after saying goodbye.
"Tony's coming to get you," I said.
I got a text and looked down at my phone. I groaned and swore.
"What?" Peter and Loki asked.
"Sam and Bucky hijacked our ride," I moaned, flopping into Loki. "They had my leftover chips!"
Loki rubbed my back comfortingly while Peter cocked his head.
Loki and I waited with Peter for him to get picked up. We got a lot of stares and eventually students plucked up the courage to ask for photos. We took quite a few photos. I could tell that Loki secretly loved the attention.
The sound of a rumbling engine made everyone pause. We all looked to the front doors of the school. A minute later, Tony Stark walked in. People flocked to him and some people squealed. Tony reached the receptionist's desk and smiled.
"I'm here to sign out Peter Parker," he said.
The receptionist nodded shakily and handed Tony a clipboard and pen. Tony signed the paper and then clapped Peter on the back.
"Let's go, Pete," Tony said.
He then glanced and Loki and I.
"What are you two still doing here?" he asked.
"Sam and Bucky hijacked our car," I mumbled.
Tony rolled his eyes.
"I'll give you a ride," he said.
Loki, Peter, and I all followed Tony out of the school. Loki and I got in the backseat while Peter got in the front.
"Sir, you have to get to the tower immediately. It's an emergency," Friday said through the speakers of the car.
Loki and I glanced at each other warily. What was going on? Tony stepped on the gas and got us to the tower in record time. We all got in the elevator and Friday took us to the lounge. When the doors opened, we walked in to see Thor pacing and the rest of the Avengers with grave looks on their faces.
"Brother," Thor said grimily when he spotted Loki.
"What is wrong?" Loki asked, standing in front of me protectively.
"Thanos," Thor said. "Thanos is coming."
