Her eyes determinedly looked in front of her. The passion in her eyes to win was visible and there was no way she is going to lose. She rolled her sleeves before picking up a ball from the side as her friends nervously looked at her.
She took a deep breath before she threw the ball.
The ball rolled down the narrow and smooth path towards the pins, her eyes nervously looked at the ball. In few seconds, the ball hit the pins and they all were knocked down once which brought a wide smile to her lips.
"Yes!!!!!! I did it!!!"
She jumped exclaiming her victory happily as it looks like she won an Olympic award. Her friends clapped for her before doing a group hug. "Wow! You did it Caroline!", her friend exclaimed.
David: "I'm impressed, Caroline."
Alexa hugged Caroline, cheering for her friend while David also joined the group hug. After working hard for the whole day, they decided to come to the club and play something. Everyone was enjoying the night, some were drinking and some were gossiping, yet the whole room was filled with the smell of alcohol and smoke.
The room was filled with the beats of music.
"See I told you I will win...", She proudly exclaimed forming an imaginary gun with her fingers towards her friends. "I knew it that our Caroline cannot lose", David winked at her making Caroline rolled her eyes as she turned around when her eyes met a person.
His dark brown orbs looking directly at her with a smirk plastered on his lips made her smile vanish. Looking back at her friends she avoided his gaze.
"Why I feel like I have seen him somewhere?... and what the hell he is looking at me like that?... whatever just ignore it, Caroline..."
She thought and started talking with her friends. On the other hand, his handheld champagne glass bringing it closer to his mouth, he took a sip of it while looking at the one and only girl who caught his attention in the whole room. "You will dig a hole in her by staring continuously at her", his friend, Marvin, smirked as he noticed Adrian looking at the girl.
"Maybe I want it like this", Adrian stated arrogantly.
Marvin laughed at his friend as Adrian's lips held a subdue smirk looking at her. Her eyes met his once again which made her uncomfortable before she took another bowl to play her turn. His eyes watched her every moves when a girl came and sat beside him trying to seduce him.
He smirked and held the girl close to him as he also flirted with her. There was always a "new" one for him, when one goes, the other comes and so did it this time, but this time he encountered a girl who was just playing without trying to seduce him.
He internally laughed seeing Caroline trying to hit the target but every time she was missing it. She became nervous as she continuously felt his stare on her and it was making her uncomfortable and who wouldn't become uneasy by some stranger's stare?
She sighed frustrated as she missed her target this time, trying again she took a deep breath ignoring that stranger's stare but again she couldn't make it. A mocking yet beautiful smile plastered on his lips, internally chuckling at the girl who was trying hard and he knew it that
He had played his role well making her nervous...
That was his aura.
And who wouldn't fall for Adrian Elbert, the man with high pride and status?
She closed her eyes controlling herself while her friends laughed a little before excusing them to grab some drink leaving her alone. She took another ball and was observing how to throw it when a hand from the back grabbed her hand making her flinch.
She looked at her side only to see the guy from the before who was looking so intimidating. She was attracted to him at first glance and he smirked before winking at her. "Focus...", Adrian stated. "W-what?", she confusingly asked looking at him.
"Your focus should be on target...", he said before looking forwards as he taught her how to grab a ball in the right manner. She was drowning in his beauty seeing his side profile from close. He smirked knowing what he was doing and again his next move made her flinch when he suddenly caressed her hand sensually grabbing the ball.
"Your target should be your primary goal...", he paused for a little before speaking again. "Forget what is distracting you", he said and turned his head towards her titling it a little as she was looking at him without blinking. He couldn't help but smirk seeing the cute expressions of the girl in front of him.
"I said forget what is distracting you... Ok?", she came into her senses and looked forward feeling embarrassed to stare at some stranger. "I understood", she simply said.
"Eyes on your target and... now", he said and the ball left from their hands rolling down on the narrow path towards pins. The pins were knocked down making her smile and clap her hands. His eyes stared at her face that showed happiness making him chuckle at her.
"You did well", he looked at him when he winked at her making her smile vanished. "Thank you", she said and was about to turn when he held her wrist making her turn and looked at him with a frown. "Excuse me?"
"You can't just go away like this", he said and pulled her closer making her eyes widened. Her hands rested on his chest while he held her waist. His eyes stared at her, observing every detail of her face that brought million of thoughts for her. Moving closer to her, he whispered.
"Just a thank you is not enough for me", her eyes widened clearly seeing his flirty side, it was totally unexpected. "Well I didn't ask for your help", she rolled her eyes.
Adrian: "I like your confidence."
Caroline: "And I didn't like your act."
She said and pushed him away getting out of his arms. He chuckled biting his lips looking at the girl in front of him. She was glaring at him while he found her hard. She was hard to get and it was giving him thought to get her in the way he gets every girl, she was increasing his interest.
But, it was hard this time to get this girl.
"You are looking like a psycho", getting annoyed by him, Caroline snarled at him.
"Do I?", he winked at her and she was getting annoyed by the person in front of him, who was looking like a brat son from a rich family, who just knows how to spend his parents' money in every way possible.
"I hope we never meet again", she said and turned around to go away from him but he stopped her. "We shouldn't say words of which we are not confident...."
"Miss Caroline..."
He smirked while her eyes widened, turning around she frowned looking at him while he came forward tugging his hands inside his pockets. Tilting his head, he smirked as he moved closer to her face. "You got it, Miss Caroline?", he smirked.
Caroline: "How do you know my name?"
She asked while he laughed a little before leaning towards her ear. "It's a secret... Miss Fierce", he whispered and bit her earlobe making her freeze. He backed away and looked at her shocked face. Chuckling inside he went away with his friend Marvin, who was enjoying the scene with champagne.
"W-What the hell was that?... How dared he?", she said coming back to her senses and looked at the door seeing him leaving the club. "But how he knows my name? We never met...", she sighed shrugging everything and decided to enjoy the night with her friends before going towards them and having few drinks to relax her mind.
Walking hurriedly, she looked at her wristwatch getting late for work. Going towards her table she placed her bad and files on the desk when her best friend came crossing her arms, almost fake glaring at her. "You're late Caroline", Alexa said.
Y/n rolled her eyes before sitting on the chair and gulping a glass of water. "C'mon I was just five minutes late and see I came before boss", she winked as they both started laughing. Her eyes scanned the office before looking at Alexa, who was sitting beside her at the table.
"Why they all are in hurry?", she asked confused as her eyes looked at the workers who seemed in hurry. "Don't you know?", her friend asked with narrow eyes.
"About what?", Caroline asked. "Our Boss Mr. Elbert's son is joining office from today", Alexa answered.
"Is that so? I never heard of him", she shrugged. "I don't know according to what I heard he was abroad and came back one week ago", Alexa said while she opened the file scanning the pages.
"Well you know I also have heard that he is such a flirty man, every day he has a new girlfriend", She immediately closed the file and looked at Caroline. "Well... It was not shocking to me", she said rolling her eyes before concentrating on her work. "You're no fun Caroline", Alexa sighed when someone came towards them.
"Miss William... Boss is calling you in his office", one of the workers said making Caroline look at him. She stood up and went to the boss's office.
Entering inside the office, she politely bowed in front of the middle-aged man who was her boss, Mr. Elbert. He signaled her to sit when she took a seat smiling a little to not make any mistake. "Miss William... You are a very hard-working young girl. And not everyone at this young age is dedicated to their work", He said sincerely. "Thank you Mr. Elbert", Caroline smiled and bowed a little.
"By seeing your previous record and your dedication to work, I want you to work as a secretary of my son", he said making her inner self scream in happiness. She was getting a promotion in actual words which she dreamed of for almost 2 years.
"It will be my pleasure, sir, to serve you", she politely said and smiled while Mr. Elbert nodded. But their attention got diverted when the door opened and his son came inside. Caroline turned around to see the person when her eyes widened seeing the guy from last night at the club.
"Good morning."
Her words got stuck in her throat and the next words of her boss made her more shocked as her head immediately turned to Mr. Elbert and then at the person standing in front of her. "Caroline he is my son and from now on you will be his personal assistant", Adrian smirked and came forward when she stood up before he extended his hand towards her.
"Nice to meet you Miss William", she looked at his hand and then back to his face, wanting to slap his hand away but she can't do anything or otherwise it would be her last day here. "N-Nice to meet you too... Mr. Elbert."
He was enjoying seeing her so nervous and shocked, yet he was chuckling how brave she was last night at the club. Moving closer a little he whispered near her ear that sent shivers down her spine.
"You can call me Adrian... Kitten."
