Kunhang waited for Hyunjae at their usual spot. Usually the tables in front of his dorm building. She had finished her sketch earlier and decided to ask if he was busy. As usual he wasn't so they decided to meet up before Hyunjae had to go to Yuta's game. She found him sitting at one of the tables and of course she approached him and sat down across from him.
"Oh there you are," He smiled putting his phone away.
"Yup. I just finished something I'm working on," She smiled, "I'm kind of drained."
"I bet. You're always working on a new project. How's the fashion sketches coming?" He asked intrigued.
"Pretty good. I just need to come up with one more theme and I should be done. But I'm stuck so I'm gonna ask my professor," she said checking her phone to make sure she had the right deadline, "What about you anything exciting?"
He shook his head, "Nah just classes. I need some more excitement to be honest. I'm still pissed that I have to take all these general classes before taking classes for my major."
She paused, "Why don't you join a club or something? Maybe a sport?"
He leaned back in the chair and groaned, "I was thinking about it but I don't know what I'd wanna join or play. Like soccer seems fun but their seasons started, then there's basketball but also not my forte."
Hyunjae nodded at her friend's dilemma, "What about a part time job? To keep you distracted? Plus you'll make money."
"That might not be a bad idea but you gotta remember I am in fact lazy. So I'll have to looks for an easy job. Anyway enough about me. Did you get an idea for your date with Yuta?"
Now Hyunjae leaned back and groaned, "I wish. I'm still thinking. Like I seriously don't know what to do."
She laid her head on the table sighing loudly.
"Come on Jae! You're the most creative person I know. You've gotta have an idea or at least direction."
"I do but I really don't know if he'd like it. It might be too girly."
"Ask Sicheng. He knows Yuta a bit more than you do right?" Kunhang asked.
That was true. Sicheng did give her some information the other day, even though it was very vague. Maybe she would try and ask him again.
"Ok I'll think about it, but it'll have to be after Saturday since we're all going to hang out at the club," she shuttered at the thought.
How the hell was she gonna manage this without being obvious? She was gonna need a drink, maybe two, maybe more, who knows.
"Oh yeah I forgot about that. That's gonna be interesting," Kunhang chuckled knowing chaos was gonna ensue.
"You're enjoying this, I can tell."
"Yes because so much could go wrong, but also I really hope nothing goes wrong, for your sake ya know," He said rethinking.
On one hand he thinks it'd be funny if Yuta and Hyunjae made it obvious that they already knew each other, especially as more than just friends. But on the other hand he didn't want Hyunjae to be exposed like that. He knew that she was contemplating telling them because of her past boyfriends. It would always start off great and then her boyfriend would meet all of her friends and for some reason things would just go downhill. So in the end her friends made her think she had a bad choice in guys or really bad luck with in relationships. So for Hyunjae, meeting the friends was literally the make or break moment. Hence why she's been debating on telling her friends.
"Yeah I'm still thinking about when I should tell everyone," she sighed putting her head back up.
Kunhang pouted, "You know you don't have to until you're ready. It's scary huh."
She nodded sadly, "Very scary. Especially cause I think I really like him. Like its really different this time."
He chuckled, "I can tell Jae. It's been a while since you've been this happy. It's good."
"Are you calling me a simp?" She asked in disbelief.
Kunhang laughed loudly at her reaction but decided to have some fun with it.
"Yes I am calling you a simp."
"Well you're not wrong. I will admit that for once."
"Good. So are you going by yourself?" He asked intrigued.
She nodded, "Yeah Sicheng's got an assignment due so he won't be there. So it's just me. Unless you want to come?"
He chuckled, "I wish. I too have an assignment due. The file is sitting open on my laptop in my room as we speak."
She chuckled understanding, "Yeah I felt that."
"It's almost time huh," Kunhang said looking at his phone.
Hyunjae nodded also looking at her phone, "Yeah but I'm so lazyyy."
He laughed, she really hasn't changed.
"So am I. So I'm gonna go take a nap and ignore my assignment," He smiled brightly.
"Boo!" She groaned before laughing.
The friends said their goodbyes before Hyunjae made her way to the soccer field. As usual the team was warming up. She wasn't sure who they were going up against but then again she didn't know much about the school in general.
She sat on the bleachers along with a couple other people. There was quite a few more people than usual, it made her wonder if this was an important game. She looked around the field in amusement, the team seemed to be warming up harder than usual.
"Dude my knees are gonna break before we even start!" Yanan groaned feeling the burn.
"I thought Yuta was bad but ten is a literal devil when it comes to warm ups," Yunho commented.
"Told you," Yuta piped up from the side.
"Alright then that's enough," Ten laughed seeing the team immediately let out breaths of relief.
To be fair that was the longest plank they had ever done.
"Hey Yuta are you gonna be a try hard again?" Yanan teased him as he went to sit next to him.
"Why do you say that?" Yuta asked sipping some water.
"Cause that pretty girl is here again," He replied looking over at the bleachers.
"Ohhhh Yuta's girlfriend," Jeonghan added sneaking himself into the conversation.
"She's not my girlfriend," Yuta sighed.
"Yet," all three boys responded in unison causing Yuta to fall back on the grass.
His teammates would never let him win, but damn did they know him well.
"Look it's not like I play harder on purpose when she's here. I get mad when we start losing so I do go try hard mode," He shrugged.
"Sure sure we believe you," Yunho said standing up.
They all followed as the game was gonna start. And as expected Yuta did go try hard mode, even if he didn't do it on purpose.
Hyunjae watched the game intently, after watching a couple games she got the basics of it. She knew a little more than just the fact that they had to score in the opposite goal. But she still didn't know everything. The game was intense, just like the previous ones, but this time it seemed the whole team was riled up. After half time their school had basically demolished the opposing team. They opposing school was ten goals behind. How that happened was crazy, it was just goal after goal after goal. Hyunjae was surprised they didn't forfeit but good for them. The game finally ended and of course they won, thankfully.
As usual Hyunjae waited as the team headed back to the gym to shower and change. This time there was a lot more people waiting. She wondered if they were friends of the other players. They had to be right? Some of the players came out and as she expected they were friends. Little by little the other people waiting left until it was just her. She watched as Yuta walked out with Ten before Ten left in the other direction. Yuta waved excitedly to Hyunjae causing her to laugh and wave back.
"Sorry the hot shower made me lose track of time," He admitted.
"Wow thank you for the honest answer," Hyunjae chuckled getting off the bleachers.
He put his arm around her happily, "Anything you wanna do?"
"Honestly I didn't really think about that. I just came to give you my moral support," She said honestly.
"Wow thanks for that. Because of that my teammates wouldn't stop teasing me. They said I'm a try hard whenever you come to the games," He said recalling the earlier conversation.
"Well... you kinda are."
"No."
"Yes."
"How?"
"You're a wannabe try hard," She chuckled, "No but seriously you were on it today. You scored like half the goals today. That's crazy!"
He laughed seeing her reaction. She sounded like a sports announcer towards the end.
"I try I try," He said flipping his hair dramatically.
"Boo! Lame!" Hyunjae exclaimed as they arrived to his dorm.
He set his bag down sighing, "Tough crowd huh."
She nodded detaching herself from him to plop down on the couch.
"The way you got lucky that your roommate abandoned you. I wish I had a dorm all to myself," she gleamed.
He sat across from her, "Dont get your hopes up. He could comeback any moment. I think. Why don't you try for a solo apartment?"
"I was thinking about it, but maybe in a year or two. They're a bit pricier," She said doing the mental math.
"Understandable. So are you hungry? Oh! Do you want me to cook something?" He asked excitedly.
"You can cook?" She asked.
She remembered him making omelets that one night she knocked out here, but she didn't know he could actually cook.
"Yeah kinda. I can make the basics," He said heading into the kitchen, "I bet you I can make the cutest onigiri you've ever seen. They'll be cuter than anything you've made."
He was confident in himself and now Hyunjae was intrigued.
"What are we betting?" She asked with a mischievous smile.
"If I win you have to cook something for me. What do you want?" He asked intrigued to hear her answer.
"If i win you have to dye your hair whatever color I choose. Fair?" She asked heading into the kitchen.
"Hmm okay let me change mine. You have to come with me to either get a tattoo or another piercing. Just for support. And cook me something. Fair?"
It was very fair to be honest, but The odds were in hyunjae's favor if she really thought about it. She really didn't have anything to lose aside from making Yuta food. But she wouldn't say it out loud.
"Alright you're on wannabe," She nodded holding her hand out.
He did the same and they shook on it. Yuta began getting out all the ingredients they would need. Rice, nori, and a few other vegetables just in case. They both stood in the kitchen as if they were on a cooking show.
"Ready?" Yuta asked with a smile.
"Yessir!" Hyunjae nodded giving him a thumbs up.
"Go!"
They both reached for the ingredients playfully shoving each other in the process. Yuta stole Hyunjae's scissors. She didn't notice until she had to cut her nori. She looked all over her space before turning to her left to look at Yuta.
"Na yu have you arm my scissors?" She asked curiously as she tried to look on his space for them.
He shook his head playfully, " no idea. Did you drop them?"
"I definitely would have heard them," She said matterofactly.
"Mmm these?" He asked with a smile pulling her scissors out from his own drawer.
"Yup," She nodded reaching for them.
"Not so fast. What's in it for me?" He asked l leaning against the counter.
Hyunjae scoffed, "You stole them, I should be the one asking for compensation."
They stared each other down before laughing out loud. They couldn't take each other seriously.
"Come in give me the scissors, unless you're scared to lose to me that you have to cheat," She teased.
"Me scared? Never," he coolly handed her back the scissors before patting her cheek gently. He smiled brightly before paying attention to his food.
Hyunjae was blushing, she was the one who always patted his cheek. It was a nice change. She quickly suppressed the thoughts and got back to her food.
They finally finished the food after about twenty minutes. They took it very seriously, they even plated the food as professionally as they could.
"Alright so how are we gonna decide who wins?" He asked.
"Let's see. Why don't we text our friends and anonymously ask them to choose which ever one they think is cuter," She asked him.
He chuckled, "I like that idea. Let's do it."
They both pulled out their phones and took pictures of both foods before sending it to their friend groups.

"I won right?" Hyunjae asked as Yuta locked his phone.
"Aren't you confident," He laughed, "but to answer your question, nope. I won."
Hyunjae blinked, "no way! Let me see."
Yuta unlocked his phone showing the phone to hyunjae. He had gotten two votes from his friends and three from her friends so he did win.
"What?" She asked sitting down at the counter, "Damn I was positive Totoro would have won. Alright you won fair and square, but do you even know what you wanna do?"
He nodded taking a seat next to her, "I have two ideas in mind but I won't tell you until we go. So clear your plans for sometime next week."
"Alright deal," she smiled, "oh by the way. I had a question. You're going Saturday right?"
"Oh the party huh," He said recalling Jaehyun's invitation.
She nodded.
"I feel like I have to this time," He chuckled, "I don't think I have an excuse to slip away and drag you with me."
"Unfortunately not this time," she sighed.
"So what's the plan? Are we gonna pretend we don't know each other?" He asked wanting to come up with a plan just in case.
"I mean we got partnered up so we can say we know a bit about each other."
"But like acquaintances right?" He asked.
"Bingo," she smiled giving him a thumbs up.
He laughed at her gesture before giving her a thumbs up as well.
"Damn it's a shame I didn't win. I really wanted to see you with red hair," she spoke up with a laugh, "I think it would suit you, but I do like the black so maybe it's a win win."
"Red huh," he said thinking, "I never thought about that."
"Maybe in the future," she suggested standing up.
It was getting late, she had to return before her friends started to ask questions.
"Wait. Here take the food," he said going to the kitchen and returning with the bento box.
"No, they're yours," she chuckled handing them back to him "you're the one who just kicked ass in a soccer match."
"Ok fine, at least take one to snack on. You better eat something when you get back," He said seriously.
He sounded a bit like a concerned father if she was being honest. It kind of reminded her of when her dad would scold her to eat when she was training. It was an oddly comforting feeling.
She took one of the onigiri from the bento nodding, "I promise. Goodnight Yuta," she smiled patting his cheek.
