Rumours

We'd reached the clubhouse a little after eleven and I'd given him his jacket before we'd gone through the doors, I didn't want people thinking anything. I didn't want to be apart of this club as much as I'd through before, the altercation at the diner had proved as much.

As we pushed the door open it was the first time the bar area hadn't smelt like a brewery or sounded like a rock concert, there was no people, no music just sweet, sweet silence. Ace had sped off in the direction of his own room without a word, no goodbye or goodnight just an awkward silence.

I'd tried to get into my brothers room but could already hear him snoring before I'd reached the door. When I'd turned the handle it hadn't budged, which meant he'd locked me out with no place to sleep. I'd punched and kicked the door I frustration but still heard the loud snores through the walls.

Seeing no other choice I walked back to the bar area, remembering of the long couch that took up the space outside of the meeting room. I decided that the couch would probably be the best option to sleep on for the night, even though my clothes were wet and it felt as if the cold had spread through out my bones.

I was just about to close my eyes when I shot up into a sitting position at the sound of laughter and footsteps, the chilling sound of the rebels laughter still fresh in my memory. I tried to hold my breath, not wanting anyone to know I was in here. The sound of the front door opening had me racing towards the bar, my heart in my throat, in search of a weapon.

I found a sharp looking knife that they'd used to cut up the lemon and limes for tequila shots. I held it up timidly as two shadowed figures entered the bar area but instantly put it down when they flicked on the light, revealing the humoured faces of Mac and Milo. "Ava?" They asked in unison.

I frowned at him, still not having forgiven him for what he'd done. Not only had he told my brother and his friend my secret he'd also told the entire club. Being a virgin was something I'd seen as an accomplishment, being twenty two and not of had sex was something to be proud of. Well that's what I'd thought until I'd started to spend time here, this place made me feel as if it was something to be ashamed of, something to laugh at.

"You good?" He asked nervously, scratching the back of his head awkwardly when I'd still said nothing. Milo smirked at him before patting him on the back.

"I'm gonna leave you two to it." Milo told his brother. "Tahlias waiting for me and you know what dad always said, never leave a pretty lady waiting."

Mac scowled at his brother, his eyes full of betrayal at the sight of his brothers retreating figure. This left Mac and I stood awkwardly looking at one another, I wasn't going to talk to him until I had a sufficient apology.

"What you doing in here all by yourself?" He finally asked, filling the terrible awkward silence between us. "In the dark with a knife." I looked down at the knife that I held limply by my side and quickly put it back into the bar before shrugging.

"Brother locked me out, I thought someone was breaking in." I simply said, trying to maintain an uninterested facade.

"But why are you wet?" He asked, his eyes looking me up and down curiously.

"Rain."

"Ah." He said the awkward silence growing between us once more. I peered up at the ceiling nervously, finding the plaster very interesting, way more interesting then this conversation but I suppose that wasn't hard.

"Look." He spoke, his voice a lot stronger than before which made me look at him. "I'm sorry about this morning, I panicked with your brother going psycho and then Ace being there."

"So that give you the right to tell the whole club I was a virgin?"

"What?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "You think I told the club?"

"I know you did. Or how else would the club know?"

"That's wasn't me Ava." He reassured me, walking towards me rapidly. "Ace told the club, not me."

That bastard! Was that why he'd given me his jacket earlier and was being so nice? Did he now see me as some sort of conquest? It made more sense as to why he'd suddenly switched up his bad boy act to mr nice guy within the space of a day.

"I promise Ava, I never would've spread something like that about you."

I tried to hide the surprise and nodded, accepting his apology. He pulled me into his arms and held me close, I savoured the warmth his body together. I was freezing and right now Mac was warming me up. "Come on." He told me, tugging my hand towards the bedrooms.

"What?" I asked, pulling my hand from his and remaining where I stood.

"You can have a hot shower and borrow some clothes," he explained, smiling at me sweetly. "You can sleep in my bed tonight, I'll sleep in here."

"Are you sure? I don't want to be a nuisance."

"Nonsense. Come on."

I smiled at him and accepted his outstretched hand, letting him pull me towards his bedroom. We were walking down the corridor, making small conversation when a door not too far from Macs opened revealing a shirtless Ace. He seemed to be in a daydream and hadn't noticed us as he marched towards us, a man on a mission.

His steps faltered once he noticed us and his surprised expression turned sour when he noticed our interlocked hands. "Ace." Mac nodded as I mustered up by best death stare. Not matter how good he looked right now with his hair a mess and tattooed abs on display he'd still told everyone I was virgin.

"Mac." He spoke in a gruff voice, his eyes raked over me without actually looking at me and he spun on his heel, returning back to his room. Where had he been going?

"Well that was weird." Mac chuckled as he unlocked his bedroom door and ushered me inside. When inside the room I stood awkwardly by the door as he rummaged through his wardrobe, coming back to me with a towel and some clothes. "Here."

I took the clothes and smiled gratefully. "Thank you." I told him appreciatively as he directed me to his bathroom and turned on the shower. He nodded at me before closing the door and I listened over the running water to hear his bedroom door slam too. However I still locked the bathroom door before undressing and getting into the shower.

The hot water thawed at my frozen limbs and I relaxed into the water, the bathroom filling up with steam. I only showered for a few minutes before I was out and drying myself, ready to put clothes on. He'd given me a baggy AC/DC t shirt and loose baggy track bottoms.

I pulled tha soft material on, retying my hair with the band that I'd left on the sink. Pulling it up into a messy bun I looked at myself before remembering I hadn't brought my toothbrush. I groaned aloud in frustration before picking up my clothes and unlocking the door.

Mac was no where to be seen and I presumed that he'd just gone into the bar to get a drink or something. I was just settling into bed when there was a knock at the door, I widened my eyes in alarm and pretended to be asleep. Whoever was knocking was looking for Mac who wasn't actually here right now.

"Ava?" Mac called from the door as he opened and I sighed in relief before sitting up as he handed me mug.

"What's this?" I asked.

"Hot cocoa." And when I looked at the mug I realised he'd topped it with whipped cream and marshmallows. I smiled at him before thanking him, gingerly taking a sip. I pulled the mug away and he burst out laughing.

"What?" I asked.

"You've got a whipped cream tosh darl'." He laughed, his laughter sounding throughout the room. I smiled shyly before using my finger to wipe it away and sucking it off of my finger to get rid of it.

"Gone?" I asked, when I looked up he was watching me intensely and kicked his lips before nodding at me. "Shall we go to bed?"

"Oh yeah, I'll go sleep in the bar." He told me and I leaned forwards, grabbing his hand.

"You can stay in here." I told him, my heart beating fast as I awaited his answer.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I mean we've shared a bed before we may aswell just stay in here." I told him. He nodded, agreeing with my before kicking his jeans off and pulling his T-shirt from his head before sliding under the covers beside me.

"You sure this is okay?" He whispered as he turned off the light beside him, basking us in darkness.

"Yeah." I whispered back, rolling over and getting comfortable on my left side. I made sure to face away from him as I had no toothbrush and if I was to get up in the morning I didn't want him to think I had smelly breath.

"Night Ava."

"Night Mac."

I didn't know when I fell asleep all I remembered was waking up screaming as Mac held me by my shoulders as I struggled to catch my breath. The face of a Reckless Rebel with a bullet hole between his eyes permanently engraved on the insides of my eyelids, haunting my dreams.

My chest began to grow tight and I gripped onto Macs arm. "My inhaler." I croaked. "I need it." He shot away from me, rummaging through my neat pile of clothes in the corner hastily.

"Where is it?" He asked and the realisation dawned on me as I remembered that I'd left it at Mels along with my other belongings.

"Don't. Have. It."

His eyes widened in fear and he jumped away from the door as it swung open, revealing Ace. "What the fucks going on?" He roared angrily, his bleary eyes searching the room until they landed on me. "Ava?" His voice softened as he moved across the room, grabbing me by the shoulders.

"Are you having an asthma attack?" I nodded and he muttered a string of curse words before telling Mac he needed to go to wake my brother. "Where's your inhaler?"

"Don't. Have. It." I repeated, panicking as my chest tightened even more so and my breaths were becoming more laboured.

"Fuck." He muttered, grabbing me by my chin and forcing me to look into those amazing green eyes. "Deep breaths, do it with me now." He put both of his hands in my shoulders as he took in a deep breath. I did as he told me, it hurt but I managed.

"Out." I let it go.

"In." I inhaled as did he, it eased the pressure a little bit but no by much. I wouldn't get away with this without my inhaler.

"Out."

"In."

"Out."

We'd done it together a few times before my brother burst through the door a blue inhaler, in his hand. Where had he got that from? He pushed Ace out the way, forcing the inhaler into my mouth. "In." Axel commanded, pressing down on the top of my inhaler.

I managed to take in my deep breaths and after a few puffs my lungs had returned back to normal. Ace still hovered by us, his hands on his hips as he watched us closely. "You okay?" Axel asked, his blue eyes watching me carefully.

I nodded. "Yes, thank you." I told him, he leant back onto the bed and sighed in relief. "Where did you get my inhaler from? I left it at the diner."

"I've always had a spare since you were younger." He told me. "Carried one with me at all times."

My heart warmed at my brothers words, he really did look after me and I'd owe him for it, for the rest of my life. "Thank you." I told him, reaching over and grabbing his hand appreciatively. I looked up at Ace, thanking him as well but he nodded before looking at Mac and left the room quickly.

"Come on, you're coming back to my room." Axel told me, tugging on my hand before letting it go to pick up my wet clothes in the corner of the room. He passed Mac and patted his back. "Thanks Mac."

Mac nodded at him before smiling at me. "Goodnight Ava." He said.

"Thanks Mac, goodnight."

I'd fallen asleep in my brothers room, Axel had crashed on the couch he'd pushed in the corner of his room. His snores filled the air and I grumbled telling him to shut up before burying my face in the pillow.

After my mini asthma I'd had a restless sleep but I was thankful that I hadn't dreamed of anything, the sleep was somewhat peaceful until I'd given up on ignoring Axels snores and jumped out of bed to go to the bar for a drink.

"Axel!" I shouted when I realised the time. It was nine thirty and I knew that he'd have to be in the meeting room for ten. He jolted awake, falling off of the couch and landing on the carpet with a thud.

"W-what?" He asked, rubbing his eyes grumpily.

"It's nine thirty." I told him, his eyes widened in alarm before he muttered a curse word and raced to the bathroom. I shook my head before leaving his bedroom, letting him have his space to get ready.

I walked down the corridor and into the bar where a boy that I didn't recognise was stood behind the bar. He nodded his head at me. "Morning."

"Erm morning?" I greeted, my voice coming out unsure. I'd never seen him before and was a bit worried that we'd had an invasion in the night. Yet he grinned like a Cheshire Cat putting a mug on top of the counter.

"Coffee?" He asked.

"No, Tea please." I told him pulling a disgusted face at the mention of coffee, the smell was bad enough let alone the taste of it too.

"I'm Cain by the way." He told me, offering me his hand which I accepted. His dark brown hair flopped in front of his face and he blew it out of his eyes, coincidentally he had eyes that reminded me exactly of coffee grounds.

"Ava." I chirped, taking a seat at the bar stool to talk to him. I'd gotten good vibes from him and judging by his nice he was, he'd convinced me that he was definitely not apart of the Reckless Rebels which had rid me of any doubt.

"Ah, Axels sister." He smirked as he dropped an English tea bag into the cup. "Heard a lot about you."

Instantly I thought of my secret that Ace had kindly told everyone and I scowled at him, he threw his hands up in mock surrender before flicking the kettle that I hadn't noticed behind the bar. "Hey all good things, all good things." He chuckled.

I couldn't help but smile back at him, he was already growing on me. "So how do you know my brother?" I asked, deciding to turn the topic of conversation away from rumours. He pointed to his leather jacket where a patch that spelt 'Prospect' sat and I nodded in realisation.

A prospect was someone who had declared loyalty to the club in hopes of one day becoming a full patch member, which meant that he'd been voted in by the majority of the club. So if they trusted him, then so did I.

Ace stumbled up the bar, rubbing his eyes sleepily and yawned before stretching. He wore his signature leather jacket but underneath wore a basic white tee. "Cain." He nodded, completely ignoring my presence as I sat beside him.

"Erm morning?" I asked wearily, he looked at me but it was as if he were looking right through me. He looked bored and instead carried onto ignore me.

"Meeting starts in five minutes." He spoke, clearly talking to Cain and not me. I rolled my eyes in annoyance, he didn't have a right to ignore me if anything I should be ignoring him. "Today I want you to take Axels little sister and get her inhaler, I can't deal with anymore Asthma attacks."

I opened my mouth, an angry look taking over my face. "You don't have to talk about me like I'm not here." I spat.

"No." Ace said finally acknowledging me as Cain busied himself with making my cup of tea. "I don't but I want to because I have things to do today and entertaining you isn't one of them."

His voice was cold and harsh, I actually felt hurt at what he had said. Instead I just scoffed and turned away from him, focusing my attention on Cain as Ace chuckled slightly before walking towards the meeting room. As soon as I heard the door close I let out an annoyed sound. "He's such an ass!" I growled.

Cain chuckled at me before pushing my tea in front of me. "Drink up me and you have a mission!" He joked while wiggling his slender fingers in my direction. His words seemed to calm the anger that burned in the depths of my stomach and I nodded at him, gingerly taking a few sips from my tea.

We waited until all of the club members were in the meeting room until I decided to go and get ready. We'd decided that we'd grab breakfast on the way get my inhaler and do something for the day, it seemed Cain was just as bored as I was sitting around that place all day.
